MS Access: Multiple copies of pages within a Report

Q: MS Access: Multiple copies of pages within a Report

This thread touched on what I'd like to do but went into a different direction:

I am so close on completing my system except for one nagging problem. I would like to generate labels for our shipping boxes. If Customer wants one of Product A, I can do that. If Customer wants ten of Product A, I could make ten copies. If Customer wants ten of Product A and ten of Product B, the report (shipping label) is all ready to go as two pages, and I'd make ten copies. The problem is, let's say Customer wants ten of Product A and 5 of Product B. I haven't been able to figure this out yet.

The number of labels I would need to create is in the query used to generate the report, field "Quantity." The shipping form calls up the report, which pulls the data from the query. As an example, I've got a report that is complete for each of the seven products to be shipped, but the report shows only one label per product, as I can't figure out where to apply the "Quantity" field to replicate things.

I'm not a VBA programmer but I feel I understand enough to where I could figure out where things should go. From the earlier thread the notion that there's a way to apply a counter drawing from the query gives me hope in solving my problem. I feel like I have a six pack of ideas and I just need the thingy to hold the whole thing together. Help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Using XP and Winfax Pro 10.02

Recently, winfax has been sending multiple copies of page one (6 or 7 copies) and none of pages 2 and 3, but only to some fax numbers. When I contact symantec, tech support says that I must be intentionally or mistakenly sending this. (The suggestion is ridiculous. I tell winfax to send a 3-page document one time, or a 1-page document one time.) Did some searching on the internet and found that as far back as 1998, symantec was aware of this problem. The suggested solution does not make sense now. (In 1998, winfax was version 7 or 8.)

Has anyone else had this type of problem and was able to cure it?

I tried uninstalling and re-installing Winfax, but the problem persists. I tried deleting winfax as a printer and then resetting winfax as a printer, but the problem persists.

Tried using Mighty Fax, as a substitute, but Mighty Fax does not have most of the features I need.

I need help. I send 20-30 faxes per day.

I created a report in Access 2000. It automatically calculates info from a table that I have. For some reason when I print it out it makes 15 copies. The report is only one page and in the navigation at the report it shows only one page. I did notice that when I set up the text boxes for the report it had a section called "Hide Duplicates", I set these to NO. If they were on "yes" then the text boxes would repeat. Not sure if there is something I am missing.

I have been working on a particular Access database for about two years, and it has been what I needed, however in October I ventured off to change the way the way I had to 'jump through hoops' to get a final report printed. I posted my delimma and OBP worked me through the "MAJORS" of my issues. My LAST issue with this report is this: there are blank pages printing between the 4 subreports that I have inserted. Everything else works perfectly, but I have tried over and over agin to do what I have read in the "MS Access help menu" to no avail. Can someone PLEASE help me? I know the answer will be a simple matter, but I just can not figure out what is wrong.

Thanks in advance

Just a general question regarding how best to approach the task of displaying info on an Access report.
Basically, what I need is to have a report that is made up of sections, where each section is based on the same query, but populated with different filters.

These sections are divided into 3 columns (AM, PM, NIGHT) and about 8 small sections per column (let's call them A to H). Each sections shows the same few fields of info, and none will have a massive number of records.
I was thinking of just using 3 sub-reports (one for each column) and simply ordering the records for each using a parent category.
However, I need them to line up horizontally, so Section B for AM would begin at the same vertical position as Section B for PM and Section B for NIGHT, directly after the longest Section A, and so on. Its probably easiest explained in a diagram, so check the attached, and imagine each box is full of data, you'll see what I mean.

The only other way I can think to do it, is to make 1 report out of 24 subreports, one for each section. Then I can guarantee the sections will be aligned correctly.

Cheers for any input...

A:Access report multiple filtered subreports

Hello again.

You can probably turn off the "Can Grow" property of the groups for each report to fix the height, but that means if you then get extra records you would have to manually re-adjust them.

I have a report that opens based on a combo box. The combo box is based on a query and is limited to the list. Basically you select the estimator's name in the text box and press a button to open the report with the related data. Here is the code I am using:

DoCmd.OpenReport "CloseOutRep", acViewPreview, , "[Estimator]= '" & Me.txtEstimator & "'"

The user wants to narrow the reports down by adding two more combo boxes - txtLocation and txtYear. How can I open this report with the additional criteria of

"[Location]= '" & Me.txtLocation & "'"
"[SalesYear]= '" & Me.txtSales & "'"

I guess any criteria would have to be true for the report to display data, which shouldn't be a problem because of limiting the selections to the list in the combo box.

So if this is possible all I will need is a way to make Access assume all records should be displayed when one criterion or another is not chosen.

Any ideas?

Hey Guys,

I running windows 98 on a Gateway desktop with a HP Laser Jet 6L Printer, Here's my situation:

I can't figure this one out. I had to print out about 40 pages of a 2
page document in Word. I go under file/print/change the number of
copies to 40. What happens is, the printer is only printing 1 copy of
each page and isn't recognizing that I want 40 copies. So if I have a 2
page document, or a 3 page document, I get all the pages but not any
additional copies. (What is strange is that the printer window icon
shows the printer assigned to print 40 copies, but if it's only a 2 page
document the printer just stops after 2 pages) Nothing else unusual with
the printer itself and so far I just noticed it today and seems to be
only related to Word. Note that if I print Multiple pages of SINGLE page docs, everything is fine. I don't know what could be wrong.

I used to open 3 and 4 browsers and search in each copy. But I have had this feature work, not work, work again.

Since I put in a router to network 2 PCs for DSL access, again, I can only run 1 copy of the browser again. The second browser opens but addresses only change the original browser window.

When I open a copy and put in an address, then hit enter--that browser copy is unchanged, but the original browser changes !This is the information I wanted to keep for comparison with another site in the second browser.
Once in a while this works successfully and changes take effect in the second window. Is it because one window is minimized? Doesn't seem to be that. I tried WORKING with the original browser window but while that activity may prevent it from being changed, the browser copy doesn't change to the desired site, either, most of the time.

Maybe it is a particular kind of activity that keeps the original browser from changing--not just scrolling, clicking, but typing that is necessary.

I just succeeded in doing this while this window was open--after several tries I went to google and searched. Why did it work this time?

Any ideas?

Dears,I have designed a database with many reports of certain importance. basically a report in my DB is one of two types; a Daily Report (requires a single criteria which is the date) and the second is a History report. To view or print a report, I have designed a Filter form to fill in with the report criteria and clicking a button to open the report. The first type (Daily R) work fine without problems. The second type (History R)has a problem. In this report, the criteria are two or three because a history report will retrieve data within a period, so I have to input (FromDate) and (ToDate)and may be adding another criteria which is called a company. In all history reports, the report header will accomodate the two input values of date and extract the rest of report items into the reprot detail area. The problem is, the desigened system doesnot respond well as expected. When I load the filter form to fill in criteria for a history report, I have input the FromDate and ToDate and selected the third criteria (if any), then, the reprot opens without data in it.on the other hand, I tried to load the report directly form opening it, inputing criteria, and it has worked fine without probelms.Would someone expect a key reason for this problem or dirtecly can solve this problem?Appreciate youtr support. Thanks in Advance.mhegazy

Hey ya'll. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. When I got up this morning a program (WinMHR) that scans processes and files for malware, reported 4 copies of explorer.exe as infected. I always thought there should only be one copy of it. I also did a search for explorer.exe in Everything. Here's a screenshot: 1305909911-clip-117kb.png clip. I actually shows 20 copies of it. I was running an online backup with Digital Lifeboat that I was concerned about, so I rolled back with Rollback Rx hoping to remove these copies of explorer.exe, thinking Lifeboat had something to do with them being there. After rollback, they're still there and that's why I'm posting this.
Hope someone can help me clear this up.

A:Multiple Copies of explorer.exe

My system reports "clean" and I have a dozen listed, most have the same entries as those in your screen shot.

What nasty is your malware scanner program reporting and where are they located?

Also, what version of Win7 are you running? I found this in the WinMHR FAQs -

Why do I get a warning on my 64-bit computer?

WinMHR is currently a 32-bit application. This means WinMHR can not scan running processes that are 64-bit.
You can still check any file using WinMHR, so a 'Quick Scan' or 'Full Scan' will check the files that launch the process that reside on disk.

It's happened to me again and I cannot figure out how to get rid of them.

I have my default printer, an HP Laserjet 6P hooked up to a Sunix parallel port on my PC. I can print from this printer from any application just fine. The problem is that, over time, maintenance across printers has caused multiple copies of this 6P to appear in the printer drop down list - but not one of them shows up in Devices and Printers!

Case in point: I installed the SP1 upgrade with no real trouble. I did find, however, that I had to reinstall my Canon Pro9000 XPS driver. This was painless, but when I did it it automatically made itself the default printer. So in wanting to revert back to my 6P I... could not go to Devices and Printers because it doesn't show up there. I had to Install a New Printer, whereupon it found my 6P just fine and used the available driver. But now it's Copy 4! And it and none of the others show up in Devices and Printers.

How do I get this printer to show up in D&P (any of them!), and how do I wipe these "extra" copies from Win7?

A:How do I get rid of multiple printer copies?

hi guys; many a time i've found sound advice here from 'googling' a problem. But this time i cannot find anything relating to this;

running a search for *.exe (trying to track an elusive file) among the 1611 files found were 163 all called spuninst.exe inside C:\WINDOWS there were several setup.exe too (16) whereas my friend only has one of each. My system was bought in feb this year (2007) My system details are included in my profile(?)

If anyone can suggest why it should write so many copies (each stored in a uniquely numbered folder) at different dates, I would be most grateful.

Or if someone can tell me if it is safe to delete excess copies of file. (though this will not explain the WHY, and it may just continue to write copies ad nauseaum)

A:multiple copies (163!) of spuninst.exe

It would appear that you keep your PC updated with MS updates while your friend doesn't.

The program lives in each folder that contains an MS update and is the uninstaller for that update.

My Windows Task Manager shows multiple Process entries running under the same User Name, ie
3 copies of iexplore.exe under my User Name
2 copies of MsMpEng.exe under SYSTEM
3 copies of svchost.exe under SYSTEM and LOCAL SERVICE
2 copies of svchost.exe under NETWORK SERVICE.

Is this right to have multiple copies running concurrently?
Which of these processes can I safely stop?
The MsMpEng.exe CPU overhead certainly causes a long delay in the loading of IE.
Do the multiple MsMpEng.exe copies contribute to this problem?
(I run Windows XP using Windows Security Essentials, Windows Defender and Spybot).

Many thanks for any help.

A:Multiple Process Copies

Multiple copies of SVCHOST.EXE is normal.
IE will open multiple iexplore.exe processes, usually one for each tab, depending on available resources.

If you are using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), you should turn off Windows Defender (MsMpEng.exe)
MSE should have disabled Windows Defender in Vista/Win 7, and on XP, it should have uninstalled Windows Defender.

For XP, use Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Windows Defender.
Vista - Turn Windows Defender on or off
Windows 7 - Turn Windows Defender on or off

System: Windows XP HOME SP3
Outlook Express 5
A Tiscali email address (now Talktalk)
A Windows Live Mail Account
Internet speed varies between 0.25mb/s to 2mb/s

I have been working on this problem for a client for over a week now and am getting nowhere!
Originally the problem was that they were receiving multiple copies of the same email each time the opened Outlook Express.
I logged into their mail sever via the internet and cleared all the old emails off the server incase one had become corrupted. They were also suffering incredibly slow internet speeds, (0.25mb/s) so I increased the time OE allowed before deciding the server had timed out. Sadly, none of this worked, so I tried setting up the account afresh having re installed OE and also creating a new identity. The problems remained, so I tried setting up their email account in Outlook 2003, however this made no difference.

The problems then became worse as they could no longer receive ANY emails, but still send them.
I moved on to assuming the problem lay with the mail service provided by Tiscali /TalkTalk, so set up a free account using hotmail, and set up OE to receive. This worked perfectly for about 3 days, but now the problem has returned and again at first they were getting 6 of each email, with that dropping down to none.
I read elsewhere online about deleting the file "Pop3uidl.dbx" however after doing this, they received 10 copies of each email!!!!!

Hi Lucy Ann,

please check the SAVE OPTIONS in:

File \Save As \Tools Drop Down button \ General\ Options.

There is an option 'Always Create Backup' which you should uncheck.

(Unless in the first place when you open your file you are opening as a copy?)

PS I think on some earlier versions this flag was on the Tools \Options \ General Tab. The Options I am referring to above is specifically in the Save As dialogue window.

I have 3 computers each having itzs own copy of Vista. the CDS have become mixed up. How can I determine which CD belongs to which computer? Is there a way I can look up the key on each computer to be sure which CD belongs to it?

A:Multiple Copies of Vista

I think you will find all the installation discs are the same content wise and contain all versions of Vista. Its your license key that is unique.

Lets just elaborate a little... the discs only contain either 32 or 64 bit software not both. So look under 'system' in control panel and see what your versions are for each PC and if different ( am ix of 32 and 64 then match to the discs that way). If the licence key with the disc is an OEM type (original equipment manufacturer, such as an upgrade disc) then that key can only be used on the PC it was first activated on. If they are full retail copies then you can use them on any PC at any one time.

I'm sure this question has been asked, but I tried a search of the forum and didn't quite find it.
I am currently in the middle of creating a Windows 7 PC to go to about 300 of our locations around the country.  I have taken our Windows XP PCs and converted everything to work in Windows 7.  But I'm running into the problem of Printer Name (Copy
1), Printer Name (Copy 2), etc etc.
Microsoft, in its infinite wisdom and unspoken motto of "If it's working, let's fix it.  If it's broken, let's ignore it" has that "Automatic Driver Installation" that causes HUGE headaches.  Our off-site locations need to work
with Lexmark Printers (USB) that must work with a specific Lexmark driver - one not found in the Automatic drivers/Windows update.  I have an executable from Lexmark with several of their drivers that creates "Lexmark Universal v2 PS3" printer
for me just fine.  But once an offsite location installs the USB cable from their Lexmark, Windows 7 automatically installs the printer for them - using our correct driver - but installs it as "Lexmark Universal v2 PS3 (Copy 1)."
I can't tell you what a PITA this is.  Especially if these offsite locations get replacement printers and end up with "(Copy 2", "(Copy 3)", etc.  And it amazes me that this happens DESPITE Automatic Driver Installation being
turned off.  Is there some way to keep these copies from happening??

Is it possible to print multiple copies of the same envelope in Word 2000?

A:Multiple Copies of Envelopes

It may depend on what type of envelope you wish to duplicate. Are you printing a return address only? Or creating a self-addressed return envelope? In Word Help under Create and Print an Envelope, it refers you to Tools/Envelopes and Labels/Envelopes. In the Delivery Address box, you can enter the single mailing address and then print all the envelopes you like. Or, using the Return Address box, you can type in the return address you want or enter your default address if you have set it up. Check out the Word Help references for further directions.

If I multiselect 2 folders and copy them to a destination across the network vs select the same folders separately to copy to the same destinations (2 copies), the time difference is unbelievable. Sometimes I cannot always mutliselect them (different folders). Is there any way to make it copy faster?

My guess is Windows 7 is throttling between the 2 processes making it like 5x as long.

I know I can do one copy, then the next, but sometimes I want it to be done at one time (I'm not sitting there watching it).

I was hoping to avoid batch files as these are 1 time things usually.

I guess I would think Windows is smart enough to know I am doing 2 copies with that same source drive and destination and work it out.

I'm working on a problem we have at work and am hoping for some advice here.

My situation is this:
At work we have to remote into many different sites using many different methods (each specific to our clients). Some of these methods conflict with each other so they need to be installed on different copies of XP/OS(in all we need 6 different environments). We originally had an older computer running multiple copies of XP in VMs. We found this way too slow for the work we needed to do. We then started trying to round up a bunch of PCs and install the software on them. This worked a bit better but was not efficiant to get up and move around to multiple PCs when working with multiple clients.

Does anyone have a solution that would incorporate one computer? Maybe multiple partitions each having XP installed?
It would be useful if this machine could be remotely connected to from our own stations and be able to switch to the different copies remotely as well. We would like to be able to connect with more than one user at a time but that may be pushing it.

Maybe I'm way off track and there is a better solution to our problem. Please provide any suggestions

Thank-you for any and all information!

A:Running multiple copies of XP on one computer

Well...any hard drive will accomodate 4 installs of Windows on primary partitions...but only one will run at a given time. All four cannot run at the same time...same as any multiboot system.

Only 1 partition per hard drive can be active at any one time.

Even if you installed multiple hard drives (as I have)...only one O/S partition can be active at any given moment.

I just moved to a drive that I set up via the OS discs. I transfered the folders for Windows mail and had the whole client set up with all the old messages yet when I logged onto the net it went ahead and downloaded all the same messages again from the server.

I stopped it and went to the server and marked all read but it still downloaded all of them and I had to go through and delete one by one over 780 messages from my inbox.
So OK I won't do that again. I'll save them separately just in case but let the client just reload them all.

Still why does this happen? Why doesn't the client recognize that it already has these messages in the inbox folder? Is there a way to avoid this problem in future other than not transferring the messages to the inbox and letting it download them all again? BTW that means I have to go through at some point and find all the junk I deleted from the client but left on the server.

Thank You

A:Installing Multiple copies of Office

It depends on the version.
You need to read the End User Licence Agreement (EULA) for the software to be certain.

Full versions used to allow 2 installs, providing you were only likely to use one at a time. As you intend.

OEM and Academic versions, possibly not.

I have a full version of Office XP installed on my main PC, and on my Laptop. Thats permitted in the EULA, and it activated without a hassle.

if you have the System restore feature turn on you can simply go back to a day before the problem here is how is done http://www.packardbell.co.uk/specialevents/infocenter/01/Howto/maintain/01xpmt04/01xpmt04.htm

I am running Win XP Pro (SP3). I have no current issues, just a query.

When browsing through the System32 folder, I see what look like duplicate copies of a number of system files e.g.

similarly: services.exe, services(2).exe, services(3).exe

Are copies x(2), x(3) etc redundant? Can they be purged? The current file (without a bracket number) always appears to be the most recent one.

Are the other copies remnants of some update, and can they be purged?

Using Windows 7 fax program. We are receiving multiple copies of the same fax (sometimes 10) though the sender says they are only sending one time. Is this a setting issue? Would love to only get one copy delivered.

Seems this is a common problem that hasn't been solved. My laptop HP Pavilion DV7 running Windows 7 worked fine for many years. Took it on a train trip and when back home suddenly had 4 copies of the desktop image. Other than this it works fine. Upgraded driver, rolled back driver. Had some success by re-starting after the problem occurred. My external monitor shows the same images.

One time I flipped it over while it was running, looking at the bottom, and the problem went away. I'm wondering if there is a physical problem with a card or something. The Amtrack train is a bone crusher at times and is a constant pounding. Also wondering if this could be heat related.
