I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello. I'm having issues with my t450S not being able to go in to sleep mode. Everything I've read says that these two programs have major issues with Windows 10 and could be the source of my problem. I go to uninstall and it says that the program can't run on this version of Windows. Ok, so I have tried many of the solutions offered in this forum and nothing has worked thus far: * c:\swtools\readyapps\pwrmgrv\setup.exe -l0x9 -AddRemove* change compatibility mode of programs and try then* straight up add/remove button Please let me know what I can do to get these off my system (without reverting back to Windows 7).  Thank you!

Hello all,

I am been trying to fix an issue on my girlfriend's computer. Ever since I removed a malware infection she had, the computer was doing the following: taskbar turns grey and internet stops working. Thinking this was still a malware issue, I posted in that section of the website (see link below). I have since been cleared of malware, but we have determined that the issue is related to the Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager and WLAN AutoConfig, both of which are set to start to automatically start when booting, but seem to be crashing. My taskbar goes back to normal and the internet works once I manually start these services.

Removed Win 7 AntiSpyware - other issues after rebooting

Hello

So basically my windows Aero theme is not working. I can change to different themes and they change the background and sounds but I cannot change the color of my windows color. When I click on the "Window Color" from the Personalization option in Task Manager it does not give me the regular option to change the window color and transparency. I get a pop-out screen that says "Window Color and Appearance" and changing the color from there does not do anything.

I have read other places and tried to restart the "Themes" option in the Services.exe but that does not help. Both the "Themes" and "Desktop Windows Manager" are started and run from the startup. However when I restart the "Desktop Windows Manager Session Manager" it fixes the problem only for a couple of seconds but reverts back to the broken problem. The color will change to what it's suppose to be but change right back.

I have a AMD Sapphire 7950 video card so I know it supports w/e features Windows has. I have the latest drivers from AMD and everything else works fine but this problem has persisted for a while now. Is this a hardware problem?

Also:
This only happens when I startup my computer. If I restart my computer after I see that the problem is there then the problem will be fixed and the Aero Theme is fine.

Please advise on what I can do to fix this problem.

As By default, There is no Lenovo Power Manager in Windows 10 in Lenovo G50-70. So I was searching through Web and found this Support Website https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/solutions/ht103535  and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-10/Power-Manager-for-Windows-10/td-p/2113645/page/3 which States that Laptop Running Windows 10 (G50-70) Support Dual Mode Battery Firmware. So, Is this Information Right and we should not worry regarding Battery Charging just like we used to Threshold Charging in Windows 8.1 via LENOVO POWER MANAGER. I want clarification over this.

Hello, I'm at a loss and afraid I've lost all my files.   Every time I restarted my computer I kept getting the Windows Boot Manager error message: Status: 0xc000000f Info: An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data. However, after googling and trying numerous methods to repair this, I now keep getting prompted with the Windows Recovery Manager.  I assumed that choosing the default factory restore option would prompt me with a back up option, but it didn't and proceeded to reformat.  I quickly shut my computer down. I don't know what to do next because now all I get is the Windows Recovery Manager option. Any help would be much appreciated!

A:Windows Boot Manager Error / Windows Recovery Manager Issue

If this string of events actually did start to reformat the drive, it might still be recoverable.  I would boot the computer to an independent OS IE: Linux Live on a CD or DVD and then look at the drive.  Then use that to copy your data to another drive.  Once the data is saved, then do whatever you want with this corrupted drive.  Do not try to continue with any other operations until the data is saved elsewhere.Since this PC came with Vista, once the data is saved, you could try the HP REcovery Manager to restore the original OS. Or just start over this a new install of windows 7

Got a bit of a wierd one here, when I try CRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Task manager I get a message coming up that says

"Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator"

I had a look in

Then: HKCurrentUser \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System

And the value of this was set to 1, I reset it to 0 and rebooted but it had gone back to 1 meaning that CRL+ALT+DEL was still blocked.

Anyone got any ideas?

I'm not sure what this could be but perhaps you should download HiJackThis (make sure it's version 1.99). Put it in its own separate folder, then run a scan, save the log, then copy and paste the log here. One of the security experts will take a look and guide you thereafter.

In Windows 7 this opened a Lenovo app with some interesting capabilities, such as charge/discharge limits when on AC power; however, these capabilities did not often work. After upgrade to Windows 10, the Lenovo app no longer works. Sometimes it brings up the app splash screen and just freezes there. Lately it doesn't even bring up that.Does anyone know how I can simply get rid of this battery icon?

Um, this problem started a few days ago. When I try to access my task manager, it says that my tast manager has been blocked by administration. Hello, I had the Power Manager from the windows store and it was working fine until today. Today, I decided to reset windows to refresh my system (there was nothing wrong with it), Now, I install the power manager and it gives me the picture attached here:

Unfortunately, when I hit no, the program closes. If i select yes, I can only view the battery's life and not the ability to set max charge or minimum charge or adaptive  charge etc. If I try to download this same program off of Dell's website (which is compatible with 7577 NOT 7567 for whatever reason) it won't let me. The easy fix is to of course find the DPM component service but I cannot find that anywhere!! So any help will be appreciated. This is a big pretty deal, as I made an account just for this reason. I find the  dell power manager very helpful and love the program, but now I am beginning to question whether Dell intentionally makes the programs only for their latest laptops and products, which is ***.

Hi,

My stupid antivirus-program told me that Winlogon was a virus and a pop/up came every 5th sec, and warned me. Ofc I belived it (It could be truth, idk) But anyway, to stop the popups I used WinXP manager to block and prevent winlogon (which I didn\t know what was at that time) - from startup. Next time I started the computer A blue box appared in the left corner with many numbers and texts and something about logon. After a second it disappears and the PC reboots.

To access my laptop I had to install a dual XP, so I]ve managed to backup everything important.

Please help me, I can\t boot the C drive (windows) not even in safe mode. If someone has any idea of what\where XP manager hides the file, info about the block, then plz help me.

My pc was running fine until a couple of days ago when my AVG apepars to have been corrupted. I got a lot of virus warning messages for Trojan Horse Generic 14 and then started seeing fake anti-virus messages etc.

I tried to remove these through avg but that failed and so I ran Malwarebytes which asked me to restart to remove some issues.

On restart I now have a blank desktop weith just my wallpaper and Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up task manager only shows the message "Disabled by administrator".

I have no idea what to do as nothing will run. Tried Safe mode and restoring to last known good configuration but neither work.

Any ideas? I'm really at a loss and need my PC back :(

Thanks

Ok. I eventually got it to boot from my Windows CD and did a repair install.

I've then set up a second/new username and have managed to get on to a working desktop. I've still got a lot of errors and a large black box in the centre of my wallpaper saying along the lines of "Warning, this system has been infected with spyware....blah blah blah".

What programs should I be running now to try and clean the system again so it doesn't happen all over again the next time I restart?

Thanks

:( Well the PC is obviously riddled with infections/keyloggers and Virut so I have some pretty serious problems.

No ideas where it came from but I went from having clean scans with avg/S&D etc to every scan finding multiple infections, many of which they ca... Read more

Hello and welcome to Tech Support Forum.

My name is km2357 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

If for any reason you do not understand an instruction or are just unsure then please do not guess, simply post back with your questions/concerns and we will go through it again.

Please do not start another thread or topic, I will assist you at this thread until we solve your problems.

Lastly the fix may take several attempts and my replies may take some time but I will stick with it if you do the same.

Sorry for the delay in replying, the forum is very busy. If you still need help, please do the following:

If you have access to a clean computer and a flash/USB drive you can use those to transfer tools/programs and their logs back and forth from the infected computer to the clean one. And you can use the clean one to post the logs back to this thread.

Step # 1 Download and run DDS

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs: DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Step # 2: Download and Run Gmer

Please download gmer.zip from Gmer and save it to your desktop.

***Please close any open programs ***

My daughter visited the wrong torrent site, and suddenly her Inspiron 1420 Vista laptop is spewing bogus virus detected warnings and offers to "activate" virus removal programs. Task manager is blocked (security pop-up just as it is killed says it is infected), and the only way to quiet the system is to get in right after boot, launch the task manager, find the alphabet soup process (starts with ybqktv) and kill it. Was able then to run dds.scr successfully, where it was blocked before. Didn't trust leaving the laptop networked, so I shut down the wireless and transferred dds.src to it with a flash drive (no autorun.inf). Also tried to run GMER.exe, but it blue-screened on both attempts once the scan started, so we have no output file to post yet. The only antivirus program she has is McAfee, and she says it's up to date with a subscription, but this stuff is apparently beyond its reach. I have a Dell Inspiron 15 (i7548-2129SLV). The system worked fine for a couple of years. Now, on boot, I get the message: "The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. …"
But I have a Dell 65w power adapter and it is connecting properly (the screen is brighter when the power adapter is connected). BIOS shows the battery is in excellent condition, as does Dell Power Manager Lite. Battery icon in the task bar shows “16% available (plugged in, not charging)”. I have followed all the instructions in another thread with the same subject, including uninstalling and reinstalling the ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery in Device Manager, and the problem remains. I even bought a new power adapter, but same problem.

I managed to contract some virus of some sort. The first symptoms were pop ups of porntube.com, then the generic box of You have a virus download software now. I tried to get AVG to scan but it could not detect anything, and by the time it was done scanning the screen was filled with download antivirus screens, and porn pop ups.

So i restarted my computer, and tried to start it up in safe mode, but as soon as it loads all the drivers it forces a restart, I then tried to start safe mode with command prompt and network, but agian the same thing.

So I then tried to start the computer normally, this actually booted up into windows, I saw my desktop and a flash of the toolbar then everything dissapears but my background and nothing happens, when i try to reboot and hit ctrl alt dlt as soon as i see the desktop i get a message saying task manager is blocked by administrator. This is my home computer and there has never been an issue with task manager before.

The only other thing I can think to do is the Windows XP disk, and try something with that, unfortunetly it is currently misplaced and I think it might be in another city right now. Is there anything I can do outside of using the XP disk, and if I do in fact have to re-buy the XP disk (which actually will only be like 10 bucks due to the sweet deal... Read more

Hello, MacDiiddy
Welcome to TSF

My name is Billy O'Neal and I will be helping you. (Billy or Bill is fine, if you like.)
Please give me some time to look over your computer's log(s).
Please take note of the following:In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer.
Also, even if things appear to be running better, there is no guarantee that everything is finished. Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. :)
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
Finally, please reply using the button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Old topics are closed after 3 days with no reply, and working topics are closed after 5 days. If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just put a post here so that I know you're still here. We get a lot of people who simply leave, and if there is no contact for that amount of time I will have to assume you have "vanished" .

McAfee is blocking the running of Adware-Bprotect in Browser Manager. I found Browser Manager in control panel & uninstalled, but it hasn't uninstalled & McAfee continually displays the message if I click on Remove. I don't see any other symptoms (maybe because McAfee is blocking the program), but wary of rebooting.

I have taken screen shots of the McAfee message & the Browser Manager directory but don't see any way of attaching them.

I don't see any sign of Babylon Toolbar as is frequently mentioned with Browser Manager & IE is behaving normally as far as I can tell.
