Pre-Wddm 1.0 Intel driver 945 Express Driver thru Windows update

Q: Pre-Wddm 1.0 Intel driver 945 Express Driver thru Windows update

Hi,
I'm a little confused by one of my update options. I was under the impression that windows 7 was using wddm 1.1, and that the wddm 1.0 drivers have been available for quite some time. I checked and the driver I have is wddm 1.0, released 10/28/2008, version number 8.15.10.1590. So why am I being given the option to update to 'pre-release wddm 1.0'? I tried to get more information to check the version number, but I am just redirected to Winqual Help , which doesn't help me any.

I'd like to test out the wddm 1.1 drivers, and I've read that they're available for 7, but I don't think that these are those drivers, unless there is a typo in the driver title.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

yes thats right....

wddm is just a driver model...
its up to the manufacture (here intel) to release wddm 1.1 driver
so until then (most likely they wont) they have to release a wddm 1.1

i have a brand new acer aspire 4736z laptop which i have been using for about 2 months. i seriously get a lot of problems with it and one of which is the display. i am really conscious on how my system works especially its speed. and so far, i am not satisfied to my system right now.

the problem goes with the display driver. i have an oem version of windows 7 starter which is bundled with my laptop. i have used it for a couple of weeks but got no satisfaction because it really lacks a lot of features. then i decided to upgrade to home premium thru the windows anytime upgrade. it's well and good than before! though home premium was such an eye candy, there were lots of display problems with it.

he windows built in games such as 3d chess flickers for a while on its first use then displays a message "driver intel graphics accelerator for windows vista stopped responding and has successfully recovered". the message goes as well on my first use with the windows media player during dvd playback. after my initial use, those incidents did not repeat all over again. and after a week, i decided to play plants vs. zombies on my lappy. the game flickers everytime i open it and displays the same message. so i decided just to update my display driver thru windows updates. the driver intel wddm 1.1 was replaced by intel 4 chipset family. well, the problem with plant vs. zombies was now gone. but after a few days, i notice a few instances of slow down with my pc including ha... I have an HTPC with an Asus P5E-VM HDMI mobo with IG35 onboard graphics and a E8400 Core 2 Duo 3 GHz CPU with dual boot Vista 32bit and W7 32bit setups. HD works OK under Vista 32 bit using the latest Intel Vista driver but it struggles under W7 using the WDDM 1.1 driver automatically installed by Windows.

The stuttering is fairly random but occurs very frequently and most likely due to the CPU maxing out under HD resolutions (as I assume most of the graphic processing is being done in software). When I look at CPU performance while displaying HD, it shows that the CPU is working very hard. If I set the screen resolution down to 1024x768, it copes OK.

Should there be some hardware graphics acceleration with the onboard GPU under the W7 driver or does it have to rely heavily on the CPU? I don't understand why my CPU is not coping as it's a good spec. Are there any tweaks or settings that would improve things? I cannot understand why performance under Vista should be better than under W7.

If I can't get it to work properly, I might have to put back in my noisier HD 4670 512Mb GDDR3 card to take the load off the CPU which I shouldn't have thought to have been necessary.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jeff D and welcome to the forum!

Try downloading the latest driver from your manufacturer and install that for Windows 7 instead of the default one that it installs. That should fix the ticks your experiencing during playbacks.

Which one are you asking about the chipset driver or the video driver? Since it is a dell system, go to the dell site and see if there are any updated drivers listed for your system. You can also use the intel reference chipset drivers available on the intel site.

Hi,

Iv recently had trouble viewing youtube videos in fullsreen. Sometimes it takes 1 halfside of the video and moves it too the otherside (sort of like... 12 (1 is one side and 2 is the other) it goes 21)... thats happened once, but always now my play/pause button, th timebar thing and the volume all go funny and its hard for me too see that bit poperly or do anything.

Im sure its not my graphic card that need replaced... I think i just need to update my graphic card driver. i think my graphic card is VIA chrome9 HC IGP WDDM (according to display settings). I also have a microsoft windows vista.

Where would I have to go to get a GENUINE update?

I recently set up a new Dell 7710 Precision Workstation (Xeon E3-1535M v5 w/Intel HD Graphics P530; Nvidia Quadro M5000M; Windows 7 Pro). The Dell Precision Optimizer (DPPO) tells me there are no updates at all (no Critical, Recommended, or Optional). However, the Intel Driver Update Utility tells me I have an older chipset (14.6.1.1030) that should be replaced by a newer chipset (10.0.27). I don't know if the DPPO is taking into account particular aspects of this system that make the 14.6.1.1030 the “correct” (even if not the latest) chipset. Perhaps the DPPO should override the Intel utility. Any thoughts?

Hello, Yesterday night I have to reinstall Windows 8 on my laptop for some reason. So after installation finished I went to Device Manager for Installing Drivers. After all the other drivers like Chipset, Network, Audio etc, I went to the Install the Display Driver. There I noticed that under the Display tab my NVIDIA GT 650M is already listed but usually if any Device driver is not installed then it will be shown as Unknown Device or Standard VGA Adapter. But here it shows that it is working and one more Thing I noticed is that in the display tab it was written:-

NVIDIA GT 650M (Microsoft Corporation-WDDM 1.2)

So my question is that should I install the NVIDIA driver from my ASUS Driver And Software Utility Disk or should I keep it as it is? I have heard somewhere that WDDM drivers works better than any other Driver with Windows 8. Is it true? I didn't get any Performance Fall or any BSODs etc and games are also working. SO please help me.

Thanks...........

If you are like me and don't have one of those (I have AGP HD 3850 Turbo), you must edit the inf file and use the device manager to install. The problem here is that it is much more complicated than before because of missing revisions all throughout the inf.

I just hacked my way through it and got it to install very well on Windows x86 32 bit. I can easily do so too for x64, but then driver signing will have to be disabled permanently or at system boot each time.

If you would like me to create a custom .inf for your card not included on the list above (I can likely do mobile too as I have done in the past), please make a post with your hardware id for your specific card. Also, download the driver above and extract it to a folder so you have it ready.

Please also specify if you would like the AMD External service installed with the driver, or not - along with which you need between x86 or x64.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop (Intel Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz with Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family Video Adapter) and have recently upgraded it from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Thus far, all applications seem to run quite well on Windows 10 with a couple of exceptions (i.e., Chief Architect's Home Designer Pro 2016 and onOne's Perfect Photo Suite) - both of which are fairly graphics intensive and indicate that an upgraded video adapter driver is needed to function properly.

Is there a Windows 10 video driver available for my laptop configuration? If so, I can't seem to find one - from Intel, HP or Microsoft. I'm sure that someone on this forum knows for sure!

This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from a HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's. It appears you have the latest production release of the Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 10. The only other driver listed on Intel's support website is 14.40.26.4474 which is a BETA version. This BETA driver doesn't appear to address the issue you are having. HP hasn't made it difficult to update the driver. The Intel driver installer is what is telling you it can't install the driver. This is because there is a customized version of the driver on the computer and replacing it with a generic driver may cause issues or loss of functionality of the hardware. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please click the White KUDOS "Thumbs Up" to show your appreciation

So I had been running Windows 8 since release with the official ATI Catalyst drivers and was able to run in 1080p with no issues. I upgraded to 8.1 yesterday and it replaced my drivers with the WDDM 1.1 driver. The problem here is my display is clipped from all sides. If I switch the resolution to 1776x1000 everything displays as expected. One thing to note is that the monitor showing up is a "Generic PnP Monitor". I have a Samsung HDTV plugged in. I don't remember what this value was in 8.0.

I tried installing the latest Catalyst drivers for Windows 8x64 released in 1/2013 but it's not detecting any hardware and thus not installing the drivers. Is there anything I can do right now to view in 1080P or do I just wait for AMD to release 8.1 drivers?

Download the AMD auto-detect utility to make sure they are the latest and you can also check Windows Update for optional drivers as well. Now, I don't normally recommend Win Updates as a reliable source for driver updates but I was surprised to find an Intel update that was labeled as a WDDM 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 version so maybe they have a similar update for your AMD version. Try both and good luck.

Recently Windows updated my Intel HD Graphics 630 driver. A few days later the same driver was released on Dell's driver support page.
Is there any correlation between Windows Update and Dell's drivers? Who does update the drivers Microsoft themselves or Dell needs to release the driver to Microsoft?

A:Windows Update vs Dell Update - Intel HD Graphics 530/630 Driver

ZINGAM,
Referring to the Intel HD graphics driver.
Windows gets code from Intel for the driver and they will implement it in the OS. Dell also gets code from Intel and will release it. Also, Intel will post the driver on their site to download. You can uninstall the Microsoft driver if you choose and install the Dell update driver.

A:Should I trust Intel's Driver Update utility or Windows Update?

G'day Rolo,

The difference between the two drivers is that the Windows one is digital signed/tested by Microsoft. I would say that unless the Intel one delivers more benefit than the Windows one, and everything works as expected, then there is no need to update.

You often see this with graphics card drivers too, for example.

Hello!

I have an old noname custom-built laptop which has the following hardware:

Intel 855 mobile chipset (the desktop equivalent is 865, socket 478)
Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz socket 478 CPU
Intel 855G graphics adaptor
Realtek AC'97 audio
etc

Since the graphics card is too old, I cannot install Intel's XP drivers. If I do, after next reboot they are considered outdated and they always change to Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, which of course supports no Aero and no 3D.

After trying many registry tricks to enable aero without success, I gave up. All these tricks need a WDDM graphics driver and they are meant to enable aero in Windows Vista Home Basic WITH an WDDM driver installed. Since I used Standard VGA Graphics Adapter none would work. The same would be true if I could install latest Windows XP drivers, but then I would at least have some DirectX functionality.

When Windows 8 Developer Preview was released, I tested it in a similarly old laptop which had no WDDM drivers for its old ATI graphics card. But Windows 8 install Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead of Standard VGA graphics adapter, which IS WDDM! Then I tried to copy all the relevant files (INF and DLLs) for the driver from Windows 8 in order to install it in Windows 7. Unfortunatelly installation fails, as it tries to install a service and cannot do that for some reason Anyone else that managed to use the Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor driver in Windows 7 or has seen anything relevant on the Internet... I am not sure if this is where it belongs, or if it is a Graphics Card issue. I have an Acer Aspire 7741z-4433 with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) p6200 (2.13 GHz, 3MB 1.3 cache). This only happens to me while I am playing The Sims 3. I have the game set on the lowest quality settings, even though my laptop "claims" to be HD LED, etc. This issue still happens. As you may know I cannot replace the graphics card as it is apart of the motherboard, and to buy a new motherboard with a better graphics card would cost more than a new computer. I have been the my manufacture's website and tried installing an update of the graphics card, and that didn't do the trick either. I am at my wits end, and I just want to play the game without it shutting down and freezing my computer. The reason I know the error is because I do Alt + Tab to get back to the desktop. The way it acts up while I am in game is the screen blacks out but I can still see the software's mouse, and then it blinks a couple times and then freezes completely, causing me to do a hard shut down. What can I do to resolve this issue?

In Lenovo updates, says there's an update for Intel GTX graphics driver; does not update.  I have driver 20.19.55.4474 but Intel has a more recent version, but all I get is an error message to contact my manufacturer, but my warranty has expired.  Tried using device manager and telling it to update from Intel driver that I downloaded from their site but will not do it.  Any ideas?

I don't understand the question. Are you updating your machine? Do you want to reload it? Would you take a minute it fill out your system specs?

Thanks -WS

Go to Intel | Data Center Solutions, IOT, and PC Innovation Click on Support/Download Drivers and finally automatically find drivers. This will require installing a small Intel update utility. Run that and it will list any applicable Intel drivers for your PC.

That is what I do for the Intel CPU/Video drivers for my i7 3770 CPU.

Hi! The Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2017/2:nd edition has an OLED panel option. Lenovo's download page for this model, https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/hk/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-... , offers a driver "Intel "OLED Panel Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad X1 Yoga (Type: 20JD, 20JE, 20JF, 20JG)", 1.0.0.5, 2017/10/02, in the Display and Video Graphics section. In Windows, the device appears as "Intel(R) OLED Panel Driver" under "System devices" in the Windows Device Manager. Normally I'd think all needed to drive a display is the graphics driver (e.g. "Intel(R) HD Graphics 620" under "Display adapters") and a monitor file for resolution, frequency and color calibration ("OLED Display 2560x1440" under "Monitors"). So, why do we need an "Intel(R) OLED Panel Driver", and what does this device actually do?

So Trying to update to Windows version 1903 and I ran into an issue. They say I need a newer Rapid Storage driver than the one that Lenovo is providing for my notebook. I am not sure what to do but I noticed people stating that the rapid storage drive is not needed and someting about the iastora.sys file and renaming it to .old. which is fine except I am not sure how to ge to this file and if there are any other steps I need to take.  I'd appreciate any thoughts and help.

Recently, the WiFi on this particular laptop has been sub-par. Downloading the same file, the WiFi downloads at the rate of 70 kbps (pretty bad) while the Ethernet cable is at 700 kbps ~ 1000 kbps. I know that the Ethernet is almost always faster than the WiFi but the discrepancies are just jarring. I also noted that the signal strength is at maximum so distance isn't an issue. This isn't the case with other devices, such as my phone's WiFi speed, where I can stream HD Youtube videos with no problem.

Possible culprits:

Software:

Whenever I use Intel Driver Update Utility to attempt to fix the problem, it shows that I need to update my WiFi driver and my Bluetooth driver. The weird thing is that after I downloaded and installed those updates, it says that I need to install those same drivers after re-scanning for updates. This tells me that there's something fishy with this laptop's wireless drivers software-wise.

Hardware:

I have an Intel Wireless Dual Band AC 8260 as my wireless driver. I'm not really familiar with these, but I heard somewhere that there are certain frequency speeds (5 GHz, etc...) that need to be configured in order for the driver and the router to be compatible. The weird thing is that I've been using my laptop for 3 months now and it didn't have a problem until two weeks ago, which makes me think that this is a software problem.

Thanks for your help in advance!

A:Weird Intel Driver Update Utility problem? (Wi-Fi driver problem)

Are you on the first Win 10 or the Anniversary version. I noticed when I upgraded with a clean install with anniversary that some drivers are updated to Microsoft installed drivers but aren't 100% compared the first Windows 10 (non insider version) Even with severely outdated drivers all the driver dates are inside Windows are really off. They didn't fix something with drivers and updating them. Nothing extreme but its gonna give some people issues on older machines. I think with insiders earlier on Anniversary are using newish type PC's. My laptop is a 2013 model and nothing special but fully updated/optimized it amazes me. So its gonna take some trial and error with drivers.

Hello guys, first time poster here

So i'm using a Gateway nv78, its a pretty cheap computer. It uses the above mentioned 4 series chipset integrated video card. Now the problem im having comes to the drivers and how it effects my game playing performance. i recently wiped my hard drive because i was planning on selling the pc, however i dont plan to sell it anymore. Now, my previous display driver had allowed me to turn my graphics settings down really low, thus allowing me to play (starcraft 2) at a playable FPS. now with my computer being essentially reformatted and using the drivers suggested by gateway, i can't adjust these settings to a low enough point to allow me to play these games. I've tried installing what i remember to be the driver i had before, but it is now telling me that said driver is not compatable with my machine, and that i should use the manufacturer's drivers.

now if anyone understood all of that, and can perhaps tell me how to get better drivers, or bypass the error of not letting me download these alternative drivers.

I'm clearly a tech noob, so any information you guys can shed would be MUCH appreciated

thanks alot
eric

Hi! ericw616, welcome to 7F

Do you still have the 7 OS on the system? we'd need to know the model, Starter, basic, Home Home Premium, pro, ultimate?

How serviceable is the notebook? Does it run pretty well?

Did you save back-ups?

If you haven't done too much with it you might be able to recover some files by using a file recovery app like PhotoRec - CGSecurity To get some information back. I wouldn't use those files, but it might give you enough info to jog your memory to where you could remember the right driver, and then you could go back and re-download it to re-install.

The driver page for your NV78:
Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / NV Series / NV78

Intel's site, but there again you would need to know the make of OS to match up the proper drivers:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear....aspx?lang=eng

You could use this to identify your chipset :

Ran into a problem with my laptop... If I watch something on Youtube, my graphics driver stops working.
I can't find any Win8 driver for my graphics card so I'm using a Win7 driver that I installed in compatibility mode.
Does anyone know how I can stop it from crashing? And will Intel give out a Win8 driver for the Mobile Intel 4 Express Chipset family?

The crashing is making me go insane because I have to restart Chrome for the video to work again.

Have you got the version 8.15.10.2702?, I think it's the latest, if you want you could try different version of driver and see whether it works better, for example, you could try 8.15.10.2697, it may say it's for different chipset but worth a try.

On the one hand, not sure what you mean as to white vs blue

On the other hand, not sure it matters. My best advice is to run the Intel® Driver Update Utility and let it choose the correct chipset drivers for you.

Hello,

I've been to Intel's website, and downloaded both the .exe and the .zip files of the subject driver, and neither one of the installation packages work. It gets toward the end and comes back with "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver installer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I've also reported this to Intel's tech support via email (as this is the only method of contact that they seem to accept). I was asked a bunch of questions by way of a form, that had nothing to do with their installation package crapping out. So to make a long story short, I have to wait until Intel gets back with me, but really need the driver in a more expedient amount of time. Would any of you kind folks happen to have it available to send to me? Hopefully?

Thank you,

WThorpe

Hello CaryguyThanks for using the Lenovo forums.Try to uninstall the driver, and the let the computer try to find it.

Click Start, type Device Manager, and press Enter.
Find and double-click the category of driver you want to uninstall
Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.
Windows will prompt you to confirm the device?s removal. Click OK to remove the driver.
After the uninstallation is complete, reboot your computer as soon as possible.

See if this can help.

First of all here is an Cnet Archive link for your computer that has detailed specifications on the right hand side of the page, you will have to scroll down slightly to see them and according to that info you have a Intel 915GV Express Chipset. But to be absolutely sure you can follow this tutorial from Windows Seven Forum to accurately detect hardware and use the info to update your system specs here at Eight Forums.

System Info - See Your System Specs

Are you trying to run these drivers with Win 8 (Windows Developer Preview) if so the installer has to be run in compatibility mode

Change settings for all users first

Then Choose Windows 7 as OS and run as an administrator.
