I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In other words, you can't see all your personal folders or you can't see them correctly.

Go to Start-Find-files or folders and type in *.pst and look on your entire C: drive.

Then, in Outlook, hit File-Open, and make sure you've already got all these PSTs open.

It's probably my fault since most things are. Yesterday I had trouble sending email. I looked in the add-ins and saw the COM addin for Microsoft Hotmail connector. Well, I couldn't find where to delete it and so I went to c:\Progra~2\common~1\system\msmapi\msncon32.dll and deleted that. I did a bad thing, didn't I? This morning my Personal Folder in Outlook Contacts, is gone.

How can I get it back?

My Deleted Items.dbx is gone from Windows, Applications, Identities, etc. When I try to make a new folder, I get the message that it already exists, but it doesn't or at least it's not visible. I was told that I had to "rip" the file, but I have no idea what that means or how to do it. Help! Thanks...Liz

A:Lost Delete Folder (dbx) in Outlook Express

If the delete folder was deleted don't worry about it, close out Outlook Express and restart it. It will recreate a new one.

Just had another thought also. The properties on the file may have gotten changed to hidden in which case you will have to go into folder options and change it to show all files and then once it appears again right click on the file and change it on the file to archive instead of hidden.

Using Outlook Express, I typed and sent a message and instead of OE sending it it went into the outbox. Went to that folder, opened the note and sent it. To try the easiest thing first, in OE, select the Sent Items folder. Then up at the top click on View, point at Current View and make sure "Show All Messages" is checked. If it's not, click it to check it. See if the missing messages reappear.

how can i retrieve my lost mails in the outlook express?

A:mails lost in outlook express after changing the store folder

Outlook stores its folders as DBX files, the path to them is

C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook, where xxxxxx is the name of the account.

Look there and see what folders are listed and the size, blank folders are usually 1k or 2k, folders with stuff in will be bigger, it may be a good idea to search other users outlook settings in case something went screwy with XP, a quick cut and paste of the folders into the right directory shoud resolve the issue.

However if you cant find any DBX files of the right size then there is a good chance that the mails are gone.

I have a puzzler for the Outlook wizards. I'm wondering if somebody can help me recover my colleague's lost folders and messages. The short version is that I changed the Root Folder Path setting in Outlook 2013 for his IMAP account, resulting in the loss of several nested folders and contained messages that were apparently not synced by IMAP. Reverting the setting did not recover the folders/messages!
------- Long version ------------
Please bear with me on the explanation and please please do provide any relevant input that might help with this issue.
My colleague is using Outlook 2013 and had 2 IMAP accounts configured: 1 Gmail account and 1 other account (let's call it "Work"). At first, his issue was that several of his "Work" account folders nested under the Inbox were not syncing to his iPhone email client. I attempted to help by configuring IMAP folders in both applications.
The provider of the Work email specifies that the path for IMAP folders should be configured as "INBOX." Therefore I set this path on his iPhone and changed the Root Folder Path in Outlook 2013 for the Work account to the same, "INBOX".
Upon the change in Outlook 2013, his nested folders immediately disappeared, including all of the contained messages. I reverted the setting back to the default (blank), which restored only 1 folder with a handful of messages, one that apparently had been configured as an IMAP folder, but the rest of the folders were ... Hey there, mates.

Got this small issue, and can't find an answer. Sorry in advance if it's lame.

I have a setup with Windows 7 Pro and Outlook 2007 Pro. When receiving emails with attached emails and saving those attachments, Outlook always goes to a default folder (Say %userprofile%\Documents). Is there a way to force Olk2007 to point to last location an attachment was saved to? I thought it might be W7 issue, but couldn't get through on that front either. Ideas?

I had a crash and the operating system had to be restored non-destructively. The backup operation saved the Microsoft Outlook .pst file. I have now recovered all the e-mails but the Contacts folder is "empty" when looking for an address. The Contacts folder (as well as the Calendar folder) also does not appear in the list of folders in the Navigation Pane. If I attempt to export a comma separated file (DOS) from the Personal Folders, the "Contacts" folder appears in the window when browsing for the folder to export. If I export that file, all the contacts are there complete with all the addresses when viewed as an Excel file. Any suggestions on how to integrate the contacts into the Personal folder without having to recreate a contact file manually from the Excel file? Cheers, Wondering Willy

User came in with a receiving email issue and to make a long story short I found that his inbox and all subfolders including sent, junk ect. are subfolders of the trash folder.(deleted Items) I tried to back up, clean(glary utils) and reinstall but the backup reordered the folders the way they were. I will uninstall again and hand build the folders and subs if need be but I was hoping someone here might know a fix before I spend 2 or more hours creating and moving from imported folders (home based company with 33000+ emails)

Any ideas appreciated.

Also noteworthy is that Norton failed after the hearbleed patch and had to be completely removed and reinstalled. the reinstallation of Norton was AFTER trying to repair Outlook.

Hello all:

First time poster.

In the folder/tree view on the left in Outlook 2007 (Windows XP Pro) the Contacts folder is not showing up.

In Outlook 2003, it was right there underneath Calendar, which, by the way, is also missing from the Folder/Tree view.

I can access my Contacts via the big tab at the bottom but I want the tree/folder view as it broke up the hierarachy very nicely.

Any ideas?

Thanx in advance,

When I click on the Inbox item on the Outlook Today screen (not referring here to the file list at the left of the screen) I get the following message:

I backed up my .pst (and archive) files, uninstalled Outlook, re-started Windows, and re-installed Outlook. The problem persisted.

I can click on Inbox in the file list on the left of the Outlook screen - works fine. The problem is more of an annoyance than a major problem, but I'm uneasy that something's not working proprerly - Outlook's too important to me for odd, unexplained things to be happening!

Hi, my name is Kyle, I am new to this Forum.

I have seen a similar post which seems to be the solution to the problem I face, however, I cannot post on the topic for some reason - I would assume because it is marked as solved.

I needed to post in the topic for clarity, as I do not quite understand how to use the solution. I also cannot send PM's or Personal Emails and was told to not post Tech Questions within the Visitor Message section on a User Profile, so I have not been able to contact the user that offered the solution directly.

Therefore I am creating a new post.

I'm in the middle of capturing data - data in the form of emails dating back to 2009. This data is required to create a email database of all our previous and current clients.

Currently I am manually going through every email contained within a folder in my inbox and entering each email address into an excel sheet. This is incredibly time-consuming, as one might imagine and of-course I would like the quick-fix solution.

In the solution offered in the aforementioned post http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/864373-solved-save-all-email-addys.html, there was reference made to software called NK2, which, by the sounds of it, I can somehow use to extract these email addresses and then import them into an excel database - problem being that I do not know how to use this program.

I would love for someone to guide me through the process!

The other solution that was offered, was a ma... Read more

I had upgraded from communicator/netscape 4.7x to netscape 7.2 several months back. All was fine till tuesday 7/5/2005 I log in and noticed my sent folder was empty, also another work related folder is empty:

I'm not sure how to do a screen shot here so:

Sent 2KB File 7/5/2005 1:38pm

Sent.msf 2KB MSF File 7/5/2005 10:57 pm

Sent.snm 3,280 KB SNM File 1/12/2005 3:22 PM

similarly another folder:

csgfld MISSING not there!
csgfld.msf 2846kb msf file 7/1/2005 5:24 pm
csgfld.snm 4848kb snm file 1/12/2005 9:13pm
My Sent folder from my 6/9/2005 backup is a 65M+ file with thousands of messages

My csgfld folder from my 6/9/2005 backup is a 99M + file with thousands of messages

I saw that my disk space was almost gone when i noticed these folders were "empty". Please advise.

Did i hit a netscape bug?
Did i hit an upper limit to folder size in terms of messages/Megabytes?
Did netscape zero out these files since I did not have diskspace instead of just warning me?

Am i stuck with losing 3 weeks worth of email in my sent and csgfld folder?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I've no idea with computers, however I was trying to set up True crypt, more difficult than I imagined, however, I cleared my USB pen drive saving everything in a folder to the desktop.

During the set up with True crypt I got confused, saved the folder from my desktop in another drive, I came out of true crypt unable to follow the instructions, now I can't get into the folder on my desktop, any idea how I can find it, when I click to open it the message says it's been moved or changed, also I can't remove my USB pen drive, when I right click safely remove hardware, a pop up says it cannot be removed right now, try later.

I'm not bothered about true crypt, if I can get into my original folder which has personal information in it, and safely remove the pen drive, I'll be more than happy.

Okay here's the problem-I have a user that has office10 and he said he was moving e-mails to a folder then all of a sudden he lost the folder. A:Lost folder

Just to be clear, your user has Office XP / Office 2002 installed and while "moving" emails in Outlook 2002 he "lost" the folder - is this correct?

As your search for an email says it is in Outlook, my best guess is the target folder was moved and may be located as a subfolder under another. Expand out all folders and see if it's "hiding" in the folder tree.

I use Windows Mail. Never had a problem. I do genealogy work and I have quite a lot of surname folders where I store email pertaining to that surname. It's very important and there are a lot of attachments with documents. Today I go in and one of the folders is gone. The very first one titled Ansell-Collins.

Now where could it go? I searched the deleted folder... not there. I check to be sure it didn't jump into another folder... I opened everything. GONE.

Can anyone explain this and perhaps help me get it back?

Ok I hope this is the right place for this. Anyways, I recently reformatted my hard drive. I know I did it correctly, I unplugged all USB drives and all before doing it to make it a clean reformat. I backed up all my important stuff. I had about 2 gigs of multimedia files I put into a compressed folder and put on a blank dvd. After reformatting and resetting up my computer and all, I popped the dvd in, and cut the compressed folder from the dvd and put it on the desktop. I tried opening it and it said the files were corrupt. I know they weren't infected or anything because I scanned them and I know the exact source of every file in there. So then I had to reboot because of updates, and anyways when I got back to the desktop the compressed folder was gone, and i searched my computer and couldn't find it anywhere. I also checked the dvd it says the entire dvd's memory is taken up (like it was when I started with the stuff on it) but it doesn't show the folder anymore. Is there any possible way I can retrieve that folder? thank you in advance.

So, I was testing out my new batch file that hides files, and then requires a password to un hide it, all from the file. The problem was that anybody could right click it, hit edit, then change the password to get to it(assuming they have basic computer knowledge). So I had made an .exe file that required a password to open, which all it did was open that file. Then I noticed, it wouldn't hide the specified folder because the .bat file that the .exe opened was in a different directory. So I made a shortcut to the folder, then I put the folder in the same directory. Sadly, then when I un-hid the .bat, the directory was gone, and it took the folder with it, as far as I know. The major problem is that the folder that was taken was my whole desktop. I had put everything into that folder to save space. Now I cannot find it. That folder is hidden, and it is nowhere to be found. I went to my control panel and clicked 'show hidden files and folders,' and I still can't find it. I went into cmd to locate the file using 'dir' commands, and come couldn't even find it. All of the files in the folder are hidden too, sadly. Please help ASAP, because I have important things in that folder that I need back for school. Thanks!

I use Outlook xp with office xp professional and windows xp professional. For some reason, I have two folders in the left margin. The top folder is called "personal folders" and when I expand it it has most of the file folders and subfolders of the second major folder. The second major folder is entitled "outlook today" and when I expand it it has most but some more of the same folders as the "personal folders" folder. I think that I created some different contacts and updates to some contacts in each of the folders not realizing I was opening two different folders. I beleive this started when I had to add a second hardrive and brought the files over from the older hardrive to the new one. Is there a way to merge both major folders and then have only one that preserves the newest additions to contacts, calendar, etc., any newer folders and the newest changes?

Well here's my current situation:

Been trying to combat some issues, my previous posts can be found Here:

I hope someone can help. My situation, I am running out of space on my C drive, so I decided to change the location of Documents to my F: drive which is a larger hardrive I have installed. All was going well, and everything was moving, but then my laptop crashed with 3 items left to move!!!

At that point I could still see my original Documents folder and the F: drive with a copy of the documents folders. So I thought I'd try again and I deleted everything off F: and rebooted.

Wrong move....

Now my documents folder is F: with nothing on it, and I can't see C:/Users/Myname/Documents anymore!!!

After my initial panic, I realise it is still there. In cmd, I can access the directory using cd, and all my directories in C:/Users/Myname/Documents are still there. But I can't see or access them in Windows explorer.

Things I have tried;

- Change location of documents folder back from F: - no go, it says "Falied to build the list of regular subfolders under F:\System Volume Information" Access is denied".

- Been into the registry and tried to change the location of personal back to C:/Users/Myname/Documents - doesn't seem to have worked.

So I am getting desperate. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance...

My husband was working on his web site, and he had some of his folders/files open. When by accident, still holding the mouse,he drag a file/folder to another file/folder but didn't see which one it was dropped in!!!
He noticed the file/folder was gone when he went back to use it.He used the "FIND" folder search, buy it didn't work 'cause it only sees the main folder and not what's in it.Am I making myself clear????? LOL
Is there away to find this folder yada yada...easier?
And yes,he looked in the recycle bin...the folder was one of many "PROGRAM FILES"....Help!

Thanks for your time and help
