I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm looking around to sell my laptop but I'm not sure what price to sell it at. Best buy would buy it at $150, which doesn't seem accurate at all. Others are selling it around $700 on Amazon.Com, which seems like too much for a used laptop? Any help please would be appreciated.

So the laptop was running on Windows 8.1 and I did the upgrade to Windows 10.  But now it won't boot to Windows at all.  It's just stuck at the Lenovo boot screen.  Been like this for three days now.  Also I get the "Preparing Automatic Repair" occasionally on boot and I can get to the Windows 10 recovery screen, but I can't do System Restore or anything because I don't have a Windows login.I am starting to feel sick about any help would be appreciated.

So, long story short. I accidentally deleted my recovery partition and now it seems like the only thing that will get my laptop up and running normally again is a recovery disc from Lenovo. I just got off the phone with customer service and they informed me that recovery discs can not be ordered in USB form.  This is where my main issue is. My Lenovo Ideapad Y500 laptop did not come with a CD-ROM Drive. With that being said, I do not want to spend $69 on a recovery disc that will require me to purchase an external CD-ROM drive that potentially won't even work... When I asked customer support if I could return and get a refund for the disc if it will not boot through an external CD-ROM drive, they said no. Has anyone been able to run a recovery disc from an external cd-rom drive successfully? Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with this thing...

Okay so, I got my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 a couple days ago. Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. The only way I could get my touchpad to work again is by restarting the computer, which is pretty frustrating. I searched this: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?   for ANY drivers/software for the Y500 mousepad and there are none. Can anyone help me fix this problem before I get a refund from this potentially bad purchase? FN + F6 toggles the touchpad on and off and I have tried to turn it on and off, with and without the external mouse connected. Thanks for the help.

I have a lenovo ideapad y500 with a 1366x768 screen, and I am looking to pop open the screen, and replace the panel with a 1920x1080 screen. Assuming that I purchase another 15.6 inch screen (size of the original screen), is this possible? A model of the y500 is sold with a 1080p display, and the graphics card in my model is more than capable of outputting such a resolution. I was just wondering if there is a chance that the connections between my laptop and new screen would not match as I do not know if there is some sort of standard port with screens. Thanks!

A:Screen upgrade lenovo ideapad y500

You would need to find out the exact model of the 1080p screen was that was sold with that model and order the same one or compatible replacement model. Laptop screens are not universally interchangeable and you can't just buy any screen and connect it.

Hi guys, this is my first post in these forums. Now, I searched a lot for a solution to my problem, but now I'm creating this thread.I got a Lenovo Ideapad Y500, and it worked really well for like a month, then I started hearing this really loud whirring noise and some vibration coming from the left side of the laptop, near the heat vents. I shut my laptop off and when I turned it backon It was gone. But now the noise is back and whenever I reboot my laptop is goes away but then it comes back after a while. Also, whenever I run the dust removal thingy in the Lenovo energy management app, It gets really loud then it goes away.I don't really feel lots of air coming out from the vent on the leftside of the laptop. I think it might be a fan problem but my laptop stays around 45-65 Celsius mostly. I don't know how hot it runs when I play games, though. Any help on this unnatural whirring sound that starts after a while is really appreciated.

Hi, i have a Lenovo Idea Pad Z50-70 (59432060). As you might know, it has only two LED indicators and no HDD indicator (unfortnately). One for the power and the second one for battery which seems to overlap. The battery LED is practically the same with only a slight infrequent blinking while charging while it turns orange once the battery is bellow 20%. I think that was really poorly thought. You need to stare at the LED for some time to understand whether it is really charging  or not.I was wondering, is there a way to reconfigure it to remain all the time orange while the computer is charging, so that i know when it's done and maybe put the blinking at bellow 20% level i.e reverse the two? Any ideas?Thank you.

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per product specification and Hardware manual (page 26) :
Memory:  DDR3L-1333 MHz / 1600 MHz SODIMM 1 (max 8 GB)

DDR3L socket on the board would only be able to accept DDR3L (low voltage) RAM
Inversely , the DDR3L would work on a DDR3 and a DDR3L socket board (backward compatible).

Hello dear community, recently I bought myself a Lenovo ideapad 305. Mainly for office purposes, however the fact that it has a Nvidia 820m as a secondary graphics card is a nice feature, since I like to play games from time to time. Since my games aren't the most demanding either, they work just fine as long as I use the 820m on it. They do lag considerably using the Intel Graphics Card. So, the thing is, I am considering whether to upgrade to Windows 10, and one central question is: Will the switchable graphics work? You know, my parents taught me to "ALWAYS have the latest drivers on your computer!" so earlier today I went ahead and downloaded the latest driver for the 820m from the nvidia website. Unfortunately, my parents hadn't told me that that's not how it works with hybrid graphic pcs. Apparently if you have two graphics card in one pc only the drivers from the manufacturer will work. That explains why my game suddenly started lagging after the driver update (even THOUGH I had it set to use the nvidia card on the nvidia control panel). I went back to the original driver via the onekey recovery partition now, and it works fine just like before. HOWEVER that means I would need a driver directly from Lenovo that makes this switchable thing work under Windows 10. Is there? If so, does it work? Any experiences? I need to decide this rather quickly, what with work and also the free upgrade period ending rather soon. Thanks a lot in advance!Gre... Read more

Hello,I can't seem to find specific information about this pc related to this topic. I have a client that wants to have a hdmi port and dual monitor installed. I looked everywhere in the bios settings, I tried using a usb-to-vga adapter & and vga, dvi-d cable & vga (this mirrors both monitors, but cannot extend the display). When I changed the settings on the bios to use the built in graphics, it gives me the option to enable multiple monitors but cannot use my pcie graphic card. If i select to use the pcie graphic card, i cannot use the built in graphic ports or the usb-to-vga adapter (it does not see the other monitor) and also if I use the dvi adpater and the vga it mirrors the display. I'm guessing that the bios does not support dual graphic cards but thought of asking here. The reason the client wants this is to be able to connect a projector using hdmi and to have dual monitors. Any information will be greatly appreaciate it. Thank you.

In a nutshell, I noticed that my laptop screen would randomly start turning off for no reason while the laptop was still running. The "fix" for this would be to open the laptop up farther. Eventually, only the most wide-open orientation would allow the screen to display, and even that has ceased to work consistently. So I have read other posts about display issues that are common, so I will try to be as specific as I can. THIS IS NOT:  A software issue, as best I can tell. My screen does not show lines or strange patterns, it just goes black. And I don't mean the display goes  blank, it actually turns off. No light. A screen issue, I don't think. The screen displays perfectly well for short periods, and then just cuts off. It seems to be effected by the position of the display (e.g. How open the laptop is). I have to open the laptop as far as it will go for best effect, and even then, the screen will simply shut off after several minutes. Sometimes I can find a "sweet spot", and get the display to function for an hour or more, so long as I don't jostle the laptop more forcefully than using keystrokes. A GPU issue. I have hooked up the laptop, during period of screen blackness, to an external display. Everything shows up fine, which I understand would not happen if the GPU was having problems. MY MAIN QUESTION FOR THOSE SMARTER AND MORE SKILLED THAN I:Is the issue likely a loose screen cable, or something similar? hello, i have a 9800gt that gives a very low fps on crysis, i went to the shop from where i purchased it and they said that you need to change your power supply, currently its 230watt, i was thinking that i should replace my card with another one as mine does not have a six pin supplementary power connector. so my question is that should i change my psu first or should i switch my card first?

A:Should i change my power supply or should i change my graphics card?

your running a 9800gt on a 230W PSU!? not sure how your doing that without it shutting down as soon as you start a game. the 9800gt needs a 450W psu with 24A on the 12v rail (s). change the PSU. you are fortunate that you haven't overstressed the 230W psu and destroyed the rest of the system.

Hello. As the title says, my Ideapad Y500 is starting to have some issues. A week ago it refused to shut down. Screen would turn off but not the laptop, which would remain kind of dormant. Following some advice online I uninstalled Express Cache form the Control Panel. Now the system turns off, but I have a new problem, this time booting up.Whenever I boot up the laptop it goes to the Lenovo splash screen, then black, then resets to the splash screen and stays there forever. If I shut it down manually and then boot it up again, it goes to Windows as it should, but the whole process takes from 2 to 10 minutes. If I try to restart the system, same thing happens.  If I keep doing this I fear one day it will just die on me.Added to this, I've been getting intermitent failures of the Intel RST software, which sometimes just won't work at all. Other times it's fine. I read somewhere I should update the drivers but I don't know where to find them or if hey may harm my pc even more.I'm running Windows 8.1 (64 bits). So far, besides uninstallid Express Cache, I have run chkdsk on both disks on my system and they appear to be fine (or at least nothing comes up when running the scan). Beyond this, I have no clue how to proceed. I'm not a especially tech savvy person, so any help you guys might give me will be greatly appreciated it. Also, if you can explain it as clear and simply as possible, it would be that much better. Thanks a lot!

I've been using this laptop for a few years now, and while it has its fair share of small problems (track pad not working, keyboard coming loose and sometimes not working, speakers slowly dying, start ups where the screen doesn't turn on.) Despite those issues I always found a way to either fix or at least work around the problems until today.I was just watching YouTube videos when the laptop without any warning shut off instantly, even though it was plugged in, and mostly charged. After that none of the power lights would go on at all, not even the charging one. I tried unplugging it, removing the battery, holding down the power button for 30 second, and every combination of those steps I could think of. Is there any hope of saving this laptop, or is it bricked?

The problem I seem to be having is with the quality of the keyboard. After about a month after purchase, one of my keys (the F key) seemed to have fallen off. I noticed after examining it that the plastic that holds the keys on simply snapped off (about 5mm of cheap plastic to hold the keys on). I sent it in and have recieved a whole new keyboard within a week. 3 weeks later and my S key has broken again. I do have warranty on it but it is a pain to sendit in EVERY 3 weeks to get a single key fixed. I was wondering if this was simply my bad luck or poor Lenovo keyboard design. I am considering returning my computer or scrapping it to get a new one with better quality. Someone let me know if it's just me that is experience this or if Lenovo has serious issues with their key design.Sincerely,Angry Lenovo Customer.

I have an Ideapad 310 with a GeForce 920MX Graphics card and I would like to upgrade it to a GeForce GTX 660Ti, is this possible? I've seen other posts and the answer has been no you can't due to the fact that the Gpu is soldered onto the board, is it the same with mine? Many thanks.

A:Can I upgrade my Ideapad 310's Graphics card?

There is no separate card or place to put one.  It is all on the motherboard.

hello, i have a lenovo ideapad 500 laptop with intel hd graphics 520 and amd r7 m360 and every thing in the laptop like games and apps use only intel not amd i tried to do a clean uninstall with ddu in safe mode for both intel and amd and got the latest drivers for both and updated my windows but still amd isn't working and it's normally detected in the devise manager , i contacted amd and all i got from them is update your drivers and do the high performance stuff in amd switchable graphics settings but i already done all these steps and nothing solved it for me so they told me to contact the laptop manufacture because the laptop uses the customized hardware. The laptop manufacturer could customize its hardware and drivers to support the specific features and functions of the laptop, where the AMD driver could have the limited support for such product. so please someone help me with this, my amd is detected and lenovo solution cenetr passed the test for the amd graphics card and still, nothing works on amd
