Preferred Solution: Tool for creating autoplay cd and dvd disc has stopped working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Tried to force it to work with Windows AutoPlay from the Control Panel. No luck. Tried to trace down the source of the problem. No luck. I'm out of ideas. Any one out there with a plan?

Hello there.

Take a look at this:

Although i read here on the forums that Microsoft disabled the autorun feature for safety.

Let me see if i can find the link

hello... recently, my windows vista crashed -- no working operating system. i have visited several sites and dowloaded several programs promising to boot-up my dead computer. after opening the downloaded programs (usually as zip files), i did write them to cd-r, and then put the disc into my computer, and NOTHING. i tried this with 6 or 7 programs, with no success. am i not copying the programs correctly (missing important files)? fyi, i have one program that was mailed to me "ultimate boot cd", and it does boot my system up, but not to a program that i can use; so, i know that my computer is capable of booting-up. i just wonder if i am not copying the programs correctly? thanks for any help....

Are you 'burning' the discs or 'copying' the files to disc? What's your pc/laptop make & model please?

hi,
when I turn on the computer I receive a message saying marketing tool stopped working, the Microsoft doesn't give me an option to solve the problem. Furthermore, I do not know where to locate the hardware and I do not have a start up installation CD. Since this message appeared my internet connection slowed down. Should I uninstall the hardware or format the pc perhaps.
thanks

Would that be a Sony Vaio by any chance.
Go to Control Panel - programs or programs and features depending on your Vista installation.
Is there a listing please for Sony / Vaio marketing tools.

The message is NOT a hardware matter it is a program.

Hello everyone, and thanks in advance.

Using Photoshop 7.01 for Windows, I cannot do now what I have done hundreds of times before: add Type to an image.

Old images with type can be edited with no problem. But with all new files created, the type does not appear on the image. (I have been in the RGB mode).

The only possible cause of the problem (that I can think of) is that I have been using InDesign recently, and perhaps (in InDesign) I have changed the color mode in repsonse to a dialogue box.

I'm perplexed and anxious-- I need my Type Tool to work!.

Suggestions deeply appreciated.

--RB

A:Photoshop 7 -- Type Tool Stopped Working

Iíve never had InDesign mess with my PS settings.

In the toolbar are the little boxes arranged with the black box upper left and the white box lower right? Or is the type color you have selected in the upper left box. If the white is in the upper left you print white. The two tiny boxes below and to the left will switch it back if you just want black and white. The double arrows above and to the right will swap the background and foreground.

I hope it is as simple as that.

Hi,

I am hoping someone might be able to help me with the following error message I have started receiving when trying to open a Microsoft Office doc (Word, Excel or PowerPoint).

When I try to open one of these documents I get a "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office XP Professional" message... and then "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM...Insert Microsoft Office XP disc". My laptop (Samsung) is 3/4 years old and I no longer have the disc.. I have had this problem in the past and have managed to fix it by doing the following, whcih I have seen suggested a few places,.. Start / Settings / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs / Microsoft Office / Change / Reinstall or Repair / Next / Detect and Repair errors in my Office Installation / Next... after canceling out of this, it has, in the past, fixed the problem.

However, it does not seem to work on this occasion.

I can actually open, and edit documents, by clicking on a document, and then clicking "Cancel" when the above error messages appear and then clicking "File / Open". Itís just annoying and a long winded way to open files and clearly something isnít quite right...

Im using: Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3, Build 2600.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks all,

We had been having great success dragging-to-disc for ages, then for some reason it didn't work.
Could Nero be the cause of this and if so how can we get rid of _all_ the Nero hooks?
Don't even remember installing Nero--maybe came with something? Don't remember installing anything lately!

Hello, recently my computer has been crashing to a desktop without any of my icons, or when the disc drive trys to burn something. So i tried to do a system restore and all that happened was my Audio stopped working as well as my mouse. Ive managed to fix the mouse, have run a virus scan and presumably cleaned whatever the problem is, yet i still cant install drivers for my realtek audio, nvidia hd audio and my DVD burner. Ive tried installing in safe mode, uninstalling/disabling the drivers. My windows updater seems to be screwed up as well since i cannoy manually activate it. Any suggestions?

A:Mouse/Audio/Disc Drivers stopped working

There are no drivers required for any optical drives including your DVD burner. They are provided by the Windows OS.
Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, do you have any devices with Yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed.
What is the make and model# of your computer? Go to the manufacturers support/download drivers site and type in your make and model# or your service tag # and download the Chipset driver first and any other drivers you need from the Device Manager.
If your computer boots to a blank desktop with no icons, then press CTRL+ALT+DEL and start the Task Manager. Go up to File/New Task (Run...) and type in explorer.exe and press enter. This should bring back your icons.
If you have a desktop, go to Start/Search and type CMD right click the CMD results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Command Prompt type chkdsk /R and press enter. Now type a Y for Yes and reboot the computer. Check Disk will start at next bootup and go through 5 stages. It will take a while. It should repair any problems.

All,

Background: A few days ago I decided to try to clean up my Dell Studio XPS 7100 a bit by going through and deleting files using the Disc cleanup. I selected all categories listed (to my detriment as it apparently included my previous Restore Points) and also did a little disc de-fragmenting. After all was said and done, my computer decided to do some Windows updates as I shut it down for the night before it completely turned off.

The Problem: The next day I booted up, the mouse (Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical) light on the bottom turned on when the BIOS was up and then shut off when Windows began loading (normal) but did not turn back on again when it came to my login/password screen (not normal). Also, my keyboard (factory Dell) was non-functional. Both are USB. I had to do a hard reset (held the button down for 5 seconds) and tried it again, but to no avail.

What I tried:

First I attempted to boot in "Safe Mode" but this didn't change anything. Still, both the keyboard and mouse did not respond.
I attempted plugging both peripherals into different USB ports, but to no avail. Every time my computer would turn on, the light on my mouse turned on, and then shut off as Windows loaded up and would no longer respond.
I tried using a different mouse (only have one keyboard) but it also didn't register.
I tried the Restore to "Last Known Operating" status (or something like that) from the BIOS, it only listed the previous day's Windows Updates and no... Read more

when i insert any media into any of my cd/dvd drives (audio, video or software discs) they do not show as being in the drive. No icon appears but when i place the cursor over the cd or dvd drive the disc is in it shows how much space is actually on the disc the auto run doesn't work either. In some instances i find the inserted disc opens up in explorer just showing the contents. If i want to start either a installation or play some music i have to right click on the drive the disc is inserted in and click on explore...this is becoming a pain now, i was wondering if anyone could help me sort this problem...i would really appreciate it

thanks in advance

edit: just noticed something else which may also help...or maybe not!!!

XP confuses me here, and always has. (I'm a software engineer, it'll be easier on you to not dumb down the answers too far)

A friend's computer seems to have phantomly turned off its autoplay setting for data cd's---specifically for the automatic running of programs. Personally, I'm far more comfortable with all that turned off---it's a huge pain to have these things pop up when, say, a burning program asks to insert a disk and the OS decides to "run" it.

But this person is not computer savy, so she would like program cd's to fire up on insert. Turned itself off for some reason.

1. Hugely broad question first: Is there a common cause for this?

2. Does XP combine settings for both audio autoplay and data autoplay, and if so, why?

Thanks!

Hi all.

A couple of months ago, the autoplay function of my DVD drive stopped working. The funny thing is, when it stopped working, all I did was reduce the screen resolution from 1024x768 to 800x600 for my dad. I've looked at the autoplay part of the drive properties (right-click DVD drive > Properties), but nothing has been disabled.

It's not all that important, I know. It's more an inconvenience than anything else, but I would like to know how to get it working again. My computer specs are in my signature.

Okay I've been trying this for a few days reading guides my friend gave me to attempt this. He admits that he wasn't 100% sure the best way to do it because he hasn't attempted this with Windows 7 or Vista because Vista and 7 don't use boot.ini and stuff.. Anyway, I would like some help creating an installation disc of Windows x86 Proffesional using a .wim of the OS already used and such. If anyone can help I'll be really greatful of your help.

So far I read and followed this guide Sysprep a Windows 7 Machine ? Start to Finish - Blog.BrianLeeJackson.com and then used this command to make it capable of burning onto a disc.

cdimage.exe -lWindows7 -m -u2 -bi:\winpe_x86\etfsboot.com i:\winpe_x86 g:\Windows7
Um, I did have a BootMgr error but I copied the bootmgr off the original installation and inserted in "i:\winpe_x86"

Whether what I've done or what I have been doing is the right steps I don't know. So far I believe I'm getting somewhere, when I boot up on the disc I now get this error which I defiantly am unaware of how to solve.

File:\Boot\BCD

If anyone can help me then please do, if you need more information just say and I'll provide as much as can. I know I've already said this but what I'm trying to do is make a bootable DVD of my 2nd OS, Windows 7 x86 Pro so when I insert the disc on another computer it installs it exactly as how I have it on my current system.

Can anyone give a me a detailed and clear step by step guide on how to create a recovery disc for windows xp. I've been searching the net for hours and I've tried to create the disc using some articles and to cut a very long story short I've got nowhere.

I want a recovery disc so if windows fails to boot up or load then at least I can use the recovery disc to re-install essential files so I can access windows.

Ideally I want a recovery disc that can work on any computer using xp so I don't want to integrate any software or drivers to the recovery disc. I just want the bare essentials.

Please, please somebody help me. Thanks.

I have an aspire7720g, on my previouse laptop there was a TechGuy means of creating a recovery disc on this thing you can feede cd;s in till the cows come home as far as i can see,
Surely there must be an easier way? thanks Al

What I do is tailor the system to my preferences, then do an Acronis True Image backup of the configuration and use that as my "recovery" disk.

I tried Xilisoft Blu-Ray Creator 2 2.0.3.1601 to turn a 1080p MKV into a Blu-ray. The results were less than stellar. It fell out of sync in the opening frames, and the horizontal lines of resolution were flickering.

Perhaps I should disable the deinterlacing?

The blank BD's are kinda costly, so I hope someone can help with this, thanks!

Okay, I am in need of some help here.

I have an activation key purchased through the university. Here's what I'm trying to do. I would like to download Windows 8 to my laptop, create a boot disc or a flash drive, and then install it on a new computer that I just built. I'm extremely confused on how to do this and am in need of help.

Thanks a lot!

Usually when a university makes Windows available inexpensively they also provide the installation media or directions on how to get it.

Is the Product Key for a new computer or is it for upgrading a PC that already has a qualifying Windows?

Hey all! Thanks for any help here, I am working on finishing my associates degree in computer support and this damn XP ISO disc is makin me wanna make this pc a boat anchor, but I'm trying to stay patient. Ok, so I have access to my DreamSpark.com account and have downloaded the XP Pro SP2 and have burnt it to disc many times using a variety of burners, from nLite to Active ISO burner and even the built-in ISO software that was pre-loaded on my working machine. I can verify that the discs have burnt correctly because whenever I load them into working machines the setup.exe file wants to begin the process. The machine I'm trying to send the ISO image to is stuck in an infinite restart loop. I've verified through BIOS that both the CD drive and HD are being recognized so I know they exist. I was thinking that there was something special that I had to do to create an XP ISO file, but that information has already been erased from my brain. Thanks for any help!

just FYI, the reason I state the school thing, is b/c I have already gone through and made the boot priorities the CD Drive first, but the option to "Press any button to load from CD..." never shows up. Amazingly frustrating!

Hey everyone!

Got a question for you all. Ok so my windows 7 disc has gone walkabout, but I've got a copy of the contents of the disc on my PC (as in copy paste of the contents of the DVD) but I am unsure of how to make this into a bootable disc.

I can copy all the files to a USB drive after making it bootable with some command line work and just boot from USB and install it from there on my PC, but I want to be able to make a dvd to install it from also, to maybe bootcamp it on my Mac, yet I'm unaware of exactly how to do this, so if anyone could share some insight it would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Background :
Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM version.
SP1 installed.
Already have :
4 Factory Default discs.
1 Repair disc.
Monthly file backup stored in external hard drive.
Periodical System Image backup.... approx. once every 2 weeks.

My goal :
To create a non-SP1 Installation DVD.

What has been done so far :
I have downloaded a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (64-bit) English ISO
[LINK REMOVED]

I was told to use ImgBurn to burn the iso to DVD.
The Official ImgBurn Website
Thing is : I don't know which one to download from the link above.

Then I came across this tutorial from this forum :
Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

Now I am not sure which way to go.

Need someone to clear the fog for me.
Thank you.

Are you confused by the multiple download mirrors at the IMGBURN download page? You can download from any one, if you're paranoid stick to the ones that say "provided by imgburn" or "provided by imgburn fast" or "provided by "majorgeeks".

Although, one would expect that since these links are provided by imgburn developers themselves, theres no need to doubt their integrity or cleanliness.

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for the assistance yesterday.

Although the computer mysteriously booted up today without issue, it was certainly suggested I create a Recovery Disc. I've read through the Tutorial and had a few questions:

Why is this different than the Re-Installation Disk from Dell (which supposedly has the files to start Windows) and claims to be a boot disk in itself? (we actually do not have a Recovery DVD made by a store as the computer was ordered from Dell directly). We were nervous about writing over files (in case something goes wrong), I am guessing the answer is simply 'Create a Restore Point'?What is the file that is being written over?I know this Tutorial is very explicit and well presented, but my experience (anywhere, even on MS) somehow the snapshot screen examples never look like what appears on my screen (and that gets me lost very quickly, as I don't know how to read into any of it or make an 'educated' choice)
Sorry for all the questions, but appreciate the info.

The reinstallation DVD will give you Vista like the day you took it home. You lose documents, settings, SPs etc. Again just like its day one
The recovery helps your recover from problems. If it works you have what you had before the problem
Make a restore point, and that is a copy of the OS. Also invest in an external hard drive, update everything once a month. In case of problems, worst case scenario, you lose onl... Read more

Hi all,I have had my Laptop for about 3-4 years now, and haven't really had any significant problems with it. I was searching my computer for fun because I was bored and had nothing else to do...and I came across a program which seems to have come with my computer. It is called Sonic Recovery Disc Creator. When I bought my computer (from eBay) the buyer didn't give me a recovery disc. I asked him and he said he didn't have one. I want to make one with Sonic, but I am new to the world of recovery discs and creating them! Can someone please tell me, if I was to make a recovery disc, would the software I use backup every single file on my C drive, or just the image (.iso) or whatever it's called. If anyone has any experience with Sonic RDC, could they please tell me how to create one. I don't want to backup every single file on my C drive. I want a recovery disc just like a retail one.I gave as much information as possible, and if you guys need any more, I will be glad to give more details.Thank you to everyone who replies in advanced!

I need to recover W7 from a TI image, but when I try to do so with my old TI 10 disc, it says that the image are not TI. I believe that is because that the images were made with the newer version of TI.

I tried to simply burn the TI 2010.exe to a disc, but it will not boot to that. TI 2010 is a downloaded file, so how do I transplant it to a bootable disc?

A:Creating A TI 2010 Recovery Disc

The newer version of ATI is ATI 11. If you do have the licenced version 11 with the license key, you can install it on any other PC and make a ATI 11 recovery disk. Use it to restore the corrupt Windows 7 in the other PC, if you think that is the reason. After restoring uninstall ATI 11 in the other PC. (Most software allows you to install it and/or use it on one PC only at anytime)

Most vendors allow you to register your licensed version. You may be able to login to your account to get the key and download in case you have not saved and backed it up, for any eventuality like this.

What you can do (let someone do) is: Create a normal system repair disc. Be sure it's 64bits if your windows version is 64bits. Otherwise use 32 bits. For repair actions not so important... but I should use the same language as the system to fix. When you hav created that disk, then

Copy all files from CD to an primary NTFS formatted partition on USB. If you did format it in win7, then the correct bootsector is on usb partition. Mark that partition ACTIVE Partition - Mark as Active

I am confused by what a recovery disc/partition is. It's not an install disc ... or is it (just a OEM-modified one)? Is it a simple clone of the HD/main partition? Is it some sort of self-extracting clone?

My Vaio P isn't going to come with a recovery disc or a recovery partition. I want to create one. Do I do this using something like Clonezilla/Acronis True Image? Will the result be different from the discs that would have come with the computer if Sony/the distributor had included them?
