Preferred Solution: which models have two hdd bays?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there guys, I know this might be in the wrong section but can someone tell me if my laptop has 2 HDD Bays and what the Maximum Ram the Motherboard can have?

Manufacturer: TOSHIBA
Model: KTKAA (U2E1)
Version: PSAL6A-07F016

Cheers Guys.

Oh and one little thing. Can the GFX be upgraded?

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

A:2 HDD Bays? and max RAM?

From what I could find (its a discontinued model I think)

Max RAM is 8GB and the laptop only has 1 Hard drive. Graphics cards can not usually be upgraded in a laptop and if you find someone who is prepared to do it then it is likely to be expensive as the cards are generally soldered to the board

My case has these two expansion ports in front, hidden behind removable plastic covers. There's metal grating over it (as you should be able to see below) but it looks like that could be snapped off really easily with a pair of pliers.

Here's a picture:
So, my question is, what can I put in these expansion ports? It looks like Zip drives and front-mounted USB ports would be too large. The only thing I can think of would be extra floppy drives, and who needs that in this day in age?

A:Solved: Mini Expansion Bays

these would also fit hdd's. Which is really what they are designed for. You can get 3 1/2" cards to go in them as well, such as front mounted usb, sound card outputs, etc. which is why they have the removeable metal and plastic covers. Yes if you wanted to, you could put a floppy drive in there as well

I figure raptors run hot, and right now I'm running this case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146025

Basically, I have too many hard drive, and cant use the middle bays because of my 8800GTX extending out too far.

so, i can get this Thermaltake icage hard drive mounting system for $24
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999141

Or

I can get 3 of these for about $10 after tax, micro center is right by me, and only 3% tax.
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0223371

is the icage worth it?
Right now I'm running a WD6400AAKS by itself, with the 3 raptors installed, and nothing on them yet.

My goal is to have the 3 x 36GB Raptors in RAID 0, and then 2 x WD6400AAKS Drives in RAID 0, and then an External eSATA 1TB Drive for backup. My DVD RW is a SATA Drive.

I would have the 1TB drive as an internal, except that my DVD RW is a SATA drive, and my 680i only has 6 SATA Ports. plus I can take the drive places with me, which could work out well anyways in the end.

I am going to have to end up buying an e SATA PCI Express card as well, i'll talk about that later

I recently bought my first desktop computer after years of always having a laptop and I am pleased about the idea of expanding it. The computer I purchased is a decent machine (Gateway DX4710) and is not in need of pertinent upgrades to make it run any better. But it does have two expansion slots in the back (one is the wireless adaptor which I don't need anyway) and one expansion bay in the front. Having never added to a desktop computer before, what are some common uses of these extra expansion slots? What would be a good idea to use them for?

I have disconnected the SATA plugs and the only thing stopping me from pulling the bay right out is the wiring to the fan (which sits just behind the grill). Can anyone advise me as to how to get the fan off without pulling the black & red wires away - they disappear into the mechanism somehow - so that I can pull the bays out completely? The wiring is anchored inside the case before it gets to the M/B, so pulling the plug from the M/B wouldn't help either.

Thanks.

A:Antec 900 Case - anyone know how to remove the HDD bays?

There is a groove in the mounting region that has tabs holding the fan cables in place. You can pry them up and that will free up the wiring so you can unscrew the fan from the mount and remove it completely.

Hello all.  I'm considering getting a ThinkPad T61 & the tech specs I've read on a few sites don't answer a few questions:1) Is an adapter required before being able to connect a drive to the 2nd drive bay inside?2)  Is the 2nd drive bay inside, IDE or SATA?  Or is there a dual connector adapter for being able to connect either type?  I have both types of 2-1/2" laptop drives and want to put a 2nd drive inside so am curious about which type the 2nd drive bay is.3)  Is the 1st drive bay, SATA or IDE?4)  Besides WinXP or Win7 or whichever "modern" version of Windows I'll end up using, I also have need of using DOS 6.22 & Win 3.11 and so will need to use MSCDEX.EXE for the CD/DVD drive.  So my question is, is it in the BIOS to enable Legacy Support for the CD/DVD drive so that an IDE driver will recognize it?  I've tried a couple of drivers on another SATA laptop that say they support/recognize SATA but they've failed so I don't even consider them a possibility anymore.  I need for the T61's DVD/CD drive to be recognized by MSCDEX which means either IDE or Legacy Support (and this other laptop I've tested the SATA drivers on doesn't have a Legacy Support option in the BIOS).5) What is the video refresh rate of the T61's own screen?  I've read info that an external monitor can easily get 75 Hz and 85 (or higher I think I suppose), but my curiosity is the laptop's own screen.  Is 75 or 85, or higher, in the list of ref... Most so-called Topseller models are not available anywhere. Why? Online vendors seem to have an abundance of only three P50 models, while one or two of a very few others trickle in sporadically, most not at all. Is this the way Lenovo releases these machines now? It used to be that models announced near the end of a calendar year would be stocked everywhere in great numbers by early spring, often at very good prices. Maybe having so many problems has held them back.

My laptop (toshiba L550-117) died a couple of days ago after a long line of service. As a replacement my eye has fallen on a Satellite P50-C-17J for it's superb specs.
But, my supplier in the Netherlands told me that it is End of life and therefore no longer available. I believe that is the case for all the P50-C series.

When do the new models (P50-C) become available?
Or is there a suitable alternative maybe?

I can't find one that's not a P50-C series myzelf.

Maybe this is not the right place to ask for this, but I don't know where else.

If I get a lenovo T61 with windows 7 32 bit can it can I upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit? Are all lenovo T61 think pads wireless?

A:Are all T61 models equal

All T61 machines are 64 bit and can run a 64-bit OS.  There is no such thing as 32 bit -> 64-bit upgrade.  It needs a fresh install.  The same license is good for both, but you would need recovery disks.  T61 machines are not all the same:  14.1: tall-screen (4:3), 14.1" wide-screen and 15.4" wide screen.  There are difficulties in getting a fresh win 7 install working, related to system update.  Microsoft has not paid much attention to windows 7.

Solution wanted: I want to be able to have one base image / drive for all machines. The problem I keep running into is drivers. I want to have one drive that I can clone and pop it into any one of those 5 models and it will pick up the correct drivers and
work right out of the gate.
We have to update our image every so often and with having to update for 5 different PC's it becomes quite time consuming. Having one master drive would be much more efficient.

Hello,

Regarding a new 1 TB External HD.

There seem to be a zillion different reliability surveys out there.
You folks are the real experts, so let me ask here:

Is there any consensous as to which Brand and Model is considered "the best" regarding reliability for
an external 1 TB (or 1.5 TB perhaps) HD.

Really confusing knowing which to get.

My Seagate, with very minimal use, lasted only about 3 yrs.
Was only used for backing up, (once every week or two) and unplugged the rest of the time.
Quite disappointing.

Thanks,
Bob

A:HD: Reliability Of Different Brands/Models ?

Yep, I have had bad luck with the last 2 Seagates I have bought, one was a 2TB and the other 3TB. The 2TB lasted about 14 months, the 3TB (both only used as a backup) only lasted about 8 months, then fried itself, yet I have 2 WD 1TB that have lasted with no probs for 3-4 years, and 1 has games installed on it.

Next week I am buying 2 new HDD's both WD a 3TB & 4TB, then 2 weeks later a Samsung 120GB 850 Evo, for my windows drive as I only use about 75GB as it is, all my other stuff is on other drives.

Two reasons I have stuck with Netscape 4.7: The bookmarks are presented in multiple columns rather than
a single scrolling column as is the default for both 6.2 and 7.0. I have not found a way to change to multiple
columns.

Also, in 4.7 it is easy to include a hyperlink in one's e-mail messages as I like to do, to make it easy for
the recipient to just click on a web site I have discussed in the text. I have not found this capability in 6.2 or
7.0. I have perused the help files in both without success.

Are these two features not considered worthy of continuing - or is it just that I have not learned how to
expose them for my use?

So, there I was... on my bench, with the M90z I'd bought for 8 cents on the dollar on eBay, all chuffed with myself.I installed all the drivers.  But I couldn't find *any* touchscreen drivers on lenovo's website, or anywhere else, for the 5205a25 I had in front of me. And it was then, and only then, that the implications of the matte LCD screen sunk through to me: even this i5-650 model -- the second fastest processor they sold with it -- must have been available without the touchscreen... and that must be what I got.<sigh>The touchscreen is mission critical to me, even if it costs me more. But *none* of the secondary market sellers seem to even address the topic.  And so this leads me to this forum, and this question: Is there, anywhere, a complete list of all the M90z 7-digit machine type codes, and which ones came factory equipped with a touchscreen?  CTO isn't an issue to me; unless the ad says touchscreen, I won't gamble.I have the M90z service manual, but it does not say.(To be clear here, I'm looking for a Lenovo-source document; the action cycle is too long to gamble on this more than once...)

I work with a lot of .cgr files. (CATIA Graphic) It is my understanding that this is a triangulated surface representation of a modeled CatPart or CatProduct. I would really like to be able to export the shell into AutoCAD.

Right now, the way I go about this is exporting the cgr as a .wrl then opening that in Spacevision and converting it to a .spv file. This spv is similar to a cgr. With the spv(or wrl) open in Spacevision, we then take a screenshot of the model and import that into ACAD and manually trace the outline. This is a slow, tedious, and inaccurate process. But it's the best way we know of right now.

Another issue is that Spacevision has a limited size of wrl that it can open. When a cgr is converted to a wrl it gets much larger. A lot of the larger wrls (over 500MB) refuse to open in SV as it says it runs out of memory, even if the PC has 24 or 32 GB installed. The size issue wouldn't be that big of a deal of I could go about it another way.

We have a program that was written to convert a section cut in SV into a drawing in ACAD. It takes the hpgl file and plots it into a CAD drawing using a script. The program and script were written by my company. But I guess the programmes couldn't figure this out. Idk.

If anyone has experience with CATIA or Spacevision, or converting models from CATIA to AutoCAD. I'd love to discuss this. I can get from Solidworks to ACAD and I can get the wrl t... Read more
