misplaced driver installation cd, where can i find win7 drivers?

Q: misplaced driver installation cd, where can i find win7 drivers?

I have lost my driver installation CD. My computer crashed earlier this week and am not sure what drivers I even need to reinstall so that I can reinstall the OS. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Preferred Solution: misplaced driver installation cd, where can i find win7 drivers?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

You just need your model number; then go to the DELL site and see if they have the drivers for your model.

I have vista 32bit home premium on my June 2008 dell inspiron 1420 notebook. I bought windows 7 professional full version (not just the upgrade)
Dell’s site says that my computer isn’t compatible.

I've checked plenty of forums, and while some people had issues, people seem to have found solutions. But, I have some concerns. I ran win7 upgrade advisor and there are some software issues, but updates are available for the ones I want, and there are some that I don’t need/want anymore.

Devices for 32bit report says my printer, Linksys usb root hub (router? I don’t have a usb receiver installed), and my Dell wireless 1395 WLAN mini card are unknown. The printer I know is compatible and so is my router assuming that is what the hub is.
For the 64 bit report it says the same thing only this time, the wifi card is compatible.
I asked dell if they knew why. (even though they won’t support my windows 7…I bought it from Microsoft with a student discount)

They said it was because the 32 bit report thinks I am planning on doing an upgrade. I think I want to do a clean custom install either 32 or 64 bit. They said if I do a clean install of 32 or 64 bit then the wifi card should be compatible because by reformatting I will effectively be uninstalling and reinstalling the card. Although it says its compatible, I can’t find a win7 driver for it from Broadcom or Dell. Does that mean it will run native?

Hello, I need help with an issue which is nearly identical to another thread here on this forum (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic411535.html/page__hl__ethernet+controller).
After re-installing Windows XP SP3 Professional I couldn't connect to the internet.
I looked in the Device Manager and found the following drivers had yellow ? marks:

Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_1458A002&REV_1002\4&3852CD30&0&0201

Ethernet Controller:PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_E0001458&REV_03\4&322CBC01&0&00E0

SM Bus Controller:PCI\VEN_27DA&SUBSYS_50011458&REV_02\3&13COBOC5&08FB

Video Controller (VGA Compatible):PCI\VEN_80868&DEV_A001&SUBSYS_D00014588REV_0213&13COBOC5&0&10

I followed the advice given on the aforementioned thread and have installed/run Everest & Speccy.
The computer doesn't belong to me, it's a desktop system with a small tower (no optical disk drive) and I cannot see any brand, manufacturer name or model number whatsoever.

If someone could let me know which details are required from Everest and/or Speccy?
Any help is very much welcome!

Hi: See if this works... I have zipped up and attached the W7 32 bit storage controller drivers below. Download and unzip the files to their folder. Get a USB flash drive and copy the files in the folder to the flash drive. With the flash drive and W7 installation media in the PC, boot from the W7 installation media. After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option. You should now see the storage driver files listed. If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver. Follow the prompts and hopefully, W7 will install.

Since win7 is not auto-detecting the integrated NIC, is their a file on the win7 disk i can point it to when i manually try to install it?

This is my first thread here...so be gentle. I am not entirely inexperienced in building PCs (i've built 2: 1 mid-range and 1 gaming/workstation), but i have NEVER had this many issues with either the XP or Vista machines that I built.

Ok, i built a "whitebox" for a friend at work and they wanted to windows 7 64bit. So, i built the machine and have been trying to figure out how to get it to recognize the HD for the past 4 hours... mainly thanks to Samsung for making impossible to find drivers on their website for the Spinpoint F1 HD102UJ 1TB hard drive and i am also having problems finding drivers from the Gigabyte website... Anyway, suggestions? I gone through all the suggestions about checking the BIOS for RAID settings, but there is only 1 drive in this machine.

Furthermore, after trying to find the drivers online for about 2 hours...i ended up reformatting the drive from the utility disk that samsung had on their website....

The specs are:

Hi guys was wondering what you think is the best way to get the most current update of the asrock DVD effectively, that is the drivers and a few programs that came on the disk. Intel for some reason seems to be worthless, that is their scanning software. They hare a prog you DL and supposed to tell you what drivers to DL. At least for me its worthless.
I noticed a weird thing. Newer versions like the "USB 3.1" for ex. It seems to have the same driver models and dated to mostly the 2015 erra. Was wondering if they are usable one like the INF, the on board sound, ME the basic and important ones.
Im only interested in a few to make the chase easier for ex.
Realtek high definition audio driver ver:7004 (I know a new version had been release .7240)
The INF Chipset driver INF driver ver:10.0.21
Intel Management Engine driver ver: though the Windows 7 64bit ver: and the 6 AC version has Windows 7 64bit ver:
Realtek LAN driver has Windows 7 ver:7.86.508.2014 and ver:7086 I dont understand
LAN Driver Windows 7 64bit ver:
ASMedia SATA3 Windows 7 64bit ver: (ASMedia ASM1061)
ASMedia USB 3.0 Windows 7 64bit ver: (Seems ASMedia ASM1042AE is the driver)
And INTEL USB 3 Windows 7 64bit ver:
With the Rates of flaws and hacks found and increases in performance I've been really trying hard to get upgraded drivers.
I cant seem to manage to find updates from Asmedias site like one at least sort of can on intels.

I am in need of some help. I recently got my xbox 360 to finally work in win7 (ie: green light to come on while in win7) but only after a popup screen came up show me that I had set a feature off. That feature was to set win7 to automatically search online for a driver update. I thought this was the same as Win7 update but it's not as the settings for that was different then the popup screen. I thought I could go to hardware settings (from system) and gain access to it but that too is a no go. I would have took a pic if I thought it was that difficult to find. So I hope I'm making sense.
Can anyone help? Again, I want to set win7 to always look for device drivers online if they are not found on the hard drive. But it's not the same feature as win7 update. It's outlined in a Yes and No checkmarks. Yes doesn't have any subsections while No does asking:
-always install the best driver software from windows update
-Install driver software from windows update if it is not found on my computer
-never install driver software from windows update

That's the format of the popup screen I'm looking for.

A:Need to find section that allows win7 to auto search drivers for HW.

Go to help and support and type drivers. You will get all the information that is needed. It is easier than having me give my ideas.
It will be in the first section after you select drivers.

That being said, this is the better way.
More difficult, but you will not get the one driver fits all.
How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper

Dratted new laptop  (Lenovo G505) came with Win 8.  I had a Win7 install CD and license key, so I figured why not?
The rest is a bit of a nightmare... Windows installed perfectly, but was missing drivers for some of the USB ports, networking and WiFi.  Found those on the Lenovo site, but even after hunting everywhere, could not find a couple of drivers so things are infuriatingly wonky (as opposed to lovably wonky!).
The mouse (touchpad) is doing an annoying hover-to-click thing I cannot seem to turn off, but most significantly, the hotkeys are only barely working and I cannot seem to adjust the monitor brightness no matter what I do.  I've got it so the volume (F1-F3) and all function keys are working, but the brightness-up key does NOTHING, while the brightness-down key shows a blank "fuel gauge" indicating that there is NO brightness, while in reality, it's turned up all the way and barely watchable.  :-(
Any suggestions for either or all of these woes???
I think it's disgusting how the Microsoft/Lenovo monopolists are still working hand-in-hand to make a system that is dysfunctional without Windows 8.  :-(

I'm trying to install Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit on a new Lenovo P50. The thing is the P50 only have USB 3.0 ports. No USB 2.0 port or optic drive. Therefor, Windows have to be installed using a bootable USB.

As many others I have issues installing windows 7 using a USB 3.0 port due to the lack of USB 3.0 driver in WindowsPE and Windows 7. I think a have read all threads on the internet about this issue and spend hour trying to find a solution. No luck so fare :-(

I'm using Rufus to create the bootable USB and have a ISO image with only Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit.

What I have tried so fare:
Burn image to DVD and used a external DVD drive with USB. No luck drive shuts up when WinPE boots.
Add USB 3.0 driver to the installation image using dism command. Drivers downloaded from:Lenovo. They do not have any .inf driver for Windows 7 32 bit only a .exe. I have tried downloading the once for all other windows versions. No luck
Intel? USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel? 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family. No luck
Random full USB 3.0 driver package from internet. No luck

The Win7USBpatcher.exe
It must be the lack of USB 3.0 driver. After WindowsPE has booted I have tried various USB devices but nothing is powering up.
Trying to install Windows 10 is no problem.

Next I'll try to install Windows 10 and from there install Windows 7 on a other partition and then delete Windows 10 but not the must smooth way to install windows. And yes, is has to be Windows 7 32 bi... Read more

Why would you think you could install 7 on another partition ? You`ll still have the same problem.

If Lenovo doesn`t have a program like Asus`s EZ Installer which integrates the usb 3.0 drivers into the installer, you may just be stuck with Windows 10, which is not all bad

Why does it have to be W7 Enterprise ?

Heck you could even try creating the usb installer with Asus`s EZ Installer, it just might work

Restoring drivers in Windows Vista (maybe Windows 7 too) I run into this error a lot...

The system cannot find the file specified

Which was not so much of a problem in Windows XP, because it then listed the file name it was looking for and I could go find it wherever it may be. Windows Vista doesn't tell me anything other than The system cannot find the file specified, which is next to useless to me.

Is there a method to figure out what file Windows Vista is looking for when it fails a driver install?

I don't know if that is the right one or not, but I'm fairly certain Windows 7 will autodetect that and it will work 'out of the box' so to speak.

Vista and 7 do a very good job with NIC drivers, its not like XP where you have to make sure you've got a NIC driver ready to go after the install.

Been dealing with a dozen different issues to get my new PC working. I'm finally just giving in to repairing Windows XP. However, my Windows XP installation that I want to repair and use is on a SATA RAID. Just 2 HDDs. Despite my motherboard recognizing the healthy RAID, the Windows XP install doesn't.

Of course, I figure it's because it needs the whole F6 + floppy disk thing with SATA and RAID drivers. Well wonderful, because I can't make the floppy because the only PC I can make the floppy with... is the one I'm trying to put Windows XP on. To make matters worse, XFX decided to make it impossible to simply access the SATA and RAID drivers, they need to be directly written to a floppy.

Solution? Virtual floppy disk drive. Ran the "Create RAID Drivers Disk" option on the XFX Driver CD. Transferred the drivers out of the virtual floppy disk. Used nLite to integrate the drivers into a new Windows XP install disc, based off of the one that came with my HP Laptop through my college. Viola, no longer need the F6 + Floppy Disk step.

Except I still get "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.". What the bloody hell? Was that not the entire point of the driver integration?

Motherboard is XFX GeForce 8200. Two 150GB SATA drives in RAID 0 connected. OS is Windows XP SP 2. Motherboard recognizes the RAID but Windows XP SP 2 installer doesn't despite slipstream integration of drivers with nLite.

A:Slipstreamed SATA/RAID Drivers on Installation - Setup fails to find HDDs

Well, more wonderful news. Used a public PC to make the RAID disk, since the slipstreamed CD is being a POS. Tried the original CD *and* the slipstreamed CD: Press F6, press S, press enter. Says "Please wait..." then it returns to the previous screen... so I press enter again. Same thing. Thought maybe the diskette was FUBAR. So I used a blank one and it responded with not finding a "txtsetupOEM" or some such, which is good, because that's true. Except that means it's clearly finding it on the RAID diskette but it chooses to be a ***** and not do anything more than that.

So this is bloody pissing me off because I haven't had a single thing succeed here. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them, because I'm 100% out of ideas.

Can't someone help me find a Canon PIXMA ip5000 printer .INF file for Win7 Pro x64 ? My friend got a new laptop and didn't like Win 8 so she asked me to put Win 7 (64 bit) on it.  No problem, I thought, I've done this dozens and dozens of times (with Dell PCs at work).  Yeah right.  I'm stuck.  (Never dealt with AMD drivers before.)
So what I've got in Device Manager are 5 devices I've got to find drivers for (see image).  With Dell I always liked to start with ethernet and network controllers so I could then get on the internet and download the rest directly to the PC.  But I am not able to do that with the Toshiba.  I keep getting the error "The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found.  If Deep Sleep Mode enabled Please Plug the Cable."  I troubleshooted this issue for about 3 hours to no resolve, but I came across something that said I needed to install the chipset first.  Which is where I get stuck.
I read that the AMD driver is a combination of the graphics and chipset, but I can't find a driver that works on the Toshiba website.  I downloaded and tried many but they won't execute.  So then I went to the AMD website and downloaded the Catalyst software and what I thought was the chipset/graphics driver.  But I can't figure out how to install this driver via the Catalyst.  It seems like you need an internet connection in order to install it.  Where am I going wrong here?

Well, as it turned out, the solution was to download and install the latest AMD Catalyst OpenGL 4.3 Beta Driver (Which is stickied at the top of this part of the forum). So if anyone else is having similar problems, I suggest using that; or if you have Nvidia or Intel, use one of the ones below it, labeled respectively to their order.

It was simple to figure out, due to it being rather straightforward.

I?m not wondering about these lines on your notebook screen because you are using display driver from latptopvideo2go? I also don?t have good experience with these drivers like overheating. So at the moment I?m only using Toshiba display driver?

Have you tried this driver? The Toshiba website shows for Vista 64bit a driver that should work on Windows 7 too.

That's what they have here at techspot for downloading the 1.89 version of the drivers for the acoustic edge soundcard, but obviously the link is broken. The main philips site seems to have been changed greatly so that they don't have support drivers for this sound card any longer.

Does anyone know where I can get the latest drivers for my aging soundcard? I had to format and no longer have the drivers or access to the drivers that I need for my soundcard.

Thanks for any help.

Yeah the Philips website is pretty frustrating alright. These links should work though;

Windows 95;

Windows 98

Windows ME

Windows XP

The system rejects XP and I was forced to put Ubuntu on it. Ubuntu sucks, nothing runs. I know all about WINE to get some programs to run but I use the entire Adobe Suite.

Hello, this is my first post on the forum, and I hope you can help me.
I have recently been given an HP 6465b probook. It had been dropped and the hard drive had failed. I installed a new hdd and got a copy of Windows 7 ultimate x64. The install went well until I discovered I couldn't connect to the Internet. There are at least 5 drivers missing.
They are for the SM Bus controller, Broadcom netxtreme gigabit ethernet controller, Broadcom netxtreme II network controller, two unknown devices. Now I think about there may be others as well.
I checked the system 32 / drivers folder and they are all there I think.
I tried to install the drivers in the usual way but windows says it cannot find them. I tried to install them from the windows disc. Again windows couldn't find them. I connected to my router via cable to try get cconnected that way but no luck. I have downloaded drivers to cd and installed from there, but I got an error code 10 device cannot start. In sysinfo it says driver not installed properly.
So I am at a loss as to what to try next. I hope the forum can assist with this.

Kind regards,....... Amazingmin (Dean)

These are what you need I think http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/sit...tte.cachetoken

Now if you cannot connect to the net you might need to get them onto stick on another machine and install from the stick.

Hi, I purchased a windows vista-windows 7 upgrade for $30 from a student deal here in canada. The method of installation was a simple .exe file which ran a sort of setup which automatically upgraded to windows 7. Now I have win7 professional 64 bit on my PC, and I just bought a new solid state drive. I want to move the installation to the SDD.

So here's the problem:

I don't have a windows 7 installation DVD, so I can't exactly use the steps described in the tutorial for reinstalling a windows 7 upgrade. I do have a valid upgrade version Product Key, so what I would like to know is whether or not it would work to clone my current install to my SDD. My SDD only has 120GB of space, so I would have to basically delete everything, but I don't care about that. Alternatively, is it illegal to download an image of a win7 installation DVD and use my valid Product Key? Theoretically the product key would work right? (I make this assumption based on the sticky about re-installing win7 upgrade versions). Or, would my key only work with a win7 install dvd that it was intended for? (I don't have one so that wouldn't really work).

I just don't have a clue what to do here, because I don't think I can get another copy of that EXE that I used to upgrade. It says on their website that you can only re-download 30 days from your date of purchase. Am I totally stuck? I am completely welcome to any suggestions because I really hope that I didn't just waste $400 on an SSD, because I definit... Read more

I am trying to install 64 bit Windows 7 in order to repair windows installer, which gave me lot of problems that i couldn't solve. So i tried an upgrade installation (as suggested in another forum) with the original cd. (Win 7 was already installed on the pc, in this way i only tryed to repair the error)

The installation was going well. No problems were encounted as the program proceeded through the gathering files process. Then, a MSDOS window appeared and the installation hung-up. At the top of the box is: Adminitrator:X:\$WINDOWS~BT\Windows\system32\cmd.exe. Inside the box is: X:\$WINDOWS~BT\Windows\system32>wpeinit. On the next line is:

The installation has stopped.

Now i can regularly use the pc if before booting that screen if i press up and down keys alternatively until i can choose to continue win7 installation or start windows. In that way the pc works fine.

But i would like to prevent this operation (the pc isn't mine)... So anyone knows how to cancel a previous pending installation of win7??

Thanks in advance

A:Wpeinit during Win7 install & Cancel pending installation of Win7

Try continuiing the installation to see if it will proceed or offer to roll back, Then try to start it over again watching for issues it flags to resolve. Back up your files, of course. Unplug all peripherals and other HD's.

If it fails I would back up your files, gather program installers and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail Win7.

Scenario is I have a new sata3 SSD drive on which I want to install Win7. The PC has an existing build of Win7 on a different disc which i want to reformat & use for data. I tried this previously and ended up with a dual booting system. Trying to remove the old Win7 installation and format that disc created much trouble so now I'm starting again.

Can someone tell me please how to:
1. Install Win7 on the new SSD disc (I'm assuming this will work ok as I've done it before),
2. Have the system recognise only the new Win7 installation at boot & not the old Win7 installation so I don't have to select which OS to use,
3. Reformat the old Win7 disc and remove any boot references that it might hold.

A:Create Win7 installation on new disc and remove old Win7 install

Only have the SSD connected when you install the new OS.

Then connect your old drive, boot into your new installation and format the old drive.

All done.

Okay, so let me first tell you that I am in a state of panic. I have very important data on my HDD and am unable to boot any OS on it now.

I initially had Vista and 7 on it, working, until I decided to uninstall 7 for XP. I deleted the partition 7 was on (C; my primary partition) and installed XP onto it. That went smoothly and all, but after booting it up I noticed it wouldn't let me specify which OS I wanted to start; it would just auto start XP. I went into the bootup settings in XP and changed the time operating systems are displayed from one second, to ten, yet it still just auto-booted XP. I was able to access the data on the other partition in the XP explorer, but seemingly wasn't able to boot from it. So I "backed up" all my data onto a third partition I had created as a failsafe in case something went wrong and I couldn't boot either of my OSes.

It then came to my attention that I had installed Windows XP Professional instead of home edition, so I made a bootable CD with the XP iso and restarted the computer for reinstallation. According to the program, the setup files copied over fine and all, but when it auto-restarted to continue the installation process it would just loop on and off at the BIOS screen. After trying 4 different versions of XP to no avail, I stuck my Vista Home Premium disk in and booted from it. Again, I got to the setup screen and all that jazz, but when prompted to select the location I wanted to install Windows in, I go... Read more

Hey guys,

I have this crucial m4 128gb 6gb/s for over a month. I had it running well, with the firmware up to date til i managed to clean my computer. Looks like the boot manager didn't like that i switch moved two mechanical drive in different port. the boot manager was probably on them so thats why win7 was tripping and freezing.

So i unplugged the two mechanical drive, and did a fresh install of win7. I have a gigabyte x58-ud3r with 9128 marvell chip on on my 6/7 gSATA port. When i get the ssd, i put the ICH10 in AHCI and the gSATA port as well, and the installation completed.

Now, it just dont work. win7 will copy the files, decompress them and then when it reboot it will hangs at the logo screen and do nothing for like 30 min. I tried switching the port 6/7 in IDE, and windows installation just complete. Try to switch it back once win7 is install and it will hang on at the logo screen. The win7 registry key for ahci is set to 0 like it should be, but i can't boot win7 when its set to ahci in the bios.

I tried the fresh installation 3 times. I have load the marvell driver from my mobo cd with the partionning tool in win7 installation, and now it says what the installation can't update the registry after decompressing the files and it cancels the installation.

I've been on this for two days and it gives me serious headache. please guys, where do i start to make this ssd works like it was.

Hello Folks...........

My C: drive recently started giving me HD521-2W error when I ran "PC Doctor 5 for Windows" diagnostic multiple times in the past few weeks.

I created backup images of both the partitions on this 320 GB HD ( Active partition named "HP_Pavilion" and Primary partition named "HP_Recovery") onto an external USB drive using Macrium Free edition.

I later took PC to a PC repair shop and installed a new 320 GB WD hard drive. However, he DID NOT create 2 partitions as the old drive BUT he made this new drive bootable and downloaded all the necessary drivers.

My questions are :

# 1 ) Is there a tool or an utility I can use to download all the drivers CURRENTLY installed on the old hard drive onto a CD/DVD for later Clean Install of XP?

# 2) How can I make this new hard drive look exactly like the old drive - I mean, it must have 2 partitions using Macrium backups images I already created ?

I hope, I explained this situation to best of my knowldge and created least amount of confusion.

Thanks in advance for your help.
