I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Any Thought's on LiveBoot 2012, WinSuite 2012 and PowerSuite Golden ?

A:Thought's on LiveBoot 2012, WinSuite 2012 and PowerSuite Golden ?

WinSuite is totally absolutely utterly useless, Windows 7 does not need any optimizers. Generally you get more troubles with these "wonderful" toys.

LiveBoot is IMO useless because when you have your install media and a recovery disk created, that's all you need to recover your system or in worst case scenario access the HD to recover your files.

Hi
I am working with windows 8 and I have installed SQL server 2007 and visual studio 2010. Now I want to upgrade these setups to SQL server 2012 and visual studio 2012. what is the advantages of what i want to do and how can i do it easily without corrupting the operating system? Please help.

A:Installation of sql server 2012 and visual studio 2012

SQL Server has an upgrade option that is pretty painless. Just run the setup file from your 2012 installation media and click the upgrade option. It will ask you what instance to upgrade, run some checks, and then upgrade it for you.

Visual Studio is a little different. If you install 2012 without uninstalling 2010 first, you will simply just have both versions to choose from. You can completely uninstall 2010 before installing 2012 by finding your 2010 installation file and adding the uninstall and force switches when running it(ex. "C:\vs_ultimate.exe /uninstall /force").

If you keep 2010, 2012 will ask you if you wish to import your settings and whatnot from 2010. If you uninstall 2010, 2012 will just have it all when you open it for the first time.

Hi,
I have a successful CA environment working in a Windows 2012 R2-based domain. Recently, some user certificates expired, and when they went to the web page to get a new certificate (https://cert-server/certsrv) using IE 11 on Windows 10 Pro build 1709, they
can go through the pages but the second (https://cert-server/certsrv/certrqus.asp) and third (https://cert-server/certsrv/certrqbi.asp?type=0) pages do not finish loading, no popups asking for permission happen, and when you click 'Submit', you get an error
saying that you can't submit yet because the page hasn't finished loading. (This seems to be a true statement, as evidenced by no list populated if you look at the CSP dropdown box.) This is unique to build 1709. If a user on any lower version of Win 10 Pro
tries the same thing, they succeed in getting their cert.
Has anyone seen this behavior before? It is not a problem with enabling Active Scripting - it is already active. Compatibility mode makes no difference. In our particular environment, web enrollment is the only thing open to us currently. Auto-enrollment
through GPO or other means are not available.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

The Windows 7 tools for creating profiles are apparently no longer available.  The current tool sets (Windows 8 and Windows 10) have not produced a workable Windows 7 mandatory profile.  We get one or another error message when we try them.
Is it still possible to create an usable Windows 7 mandatory profile with "today's" tool sets?
If it still is possible, would you please point me in the correct direction.

We have found recently that our Windows 8.1 clients are unable to connect to Server 2012 R2 shares (SMB 3.02). When trying to browse to them in Explorer we get "Windows can't find <UNC path>". Windows 7 clients can still connect to these
shares, only our 8.1 clients are affected. Attempting to access using the IP address instead of the host name makes no difference.
The 8.1 clients can still connect to shares on 2008 R2 servers. Server 2012 R2 to Server 2012 R2 also works.
No changes have been made to the clients or to the group policies which control them that could readily explain this issue.
Any advice on where to start troubleshooting this would be appreciated.

Hi

Having upgraded to Windows 8 Pro 64 bit, I have discovered that I have limited control of my options, in Windows Live Mail (Essentials 2012 version)!

Prior to the upgrade, and with the 2011 version of WLM, I was able, through the Options facility to select certain actions, such as:

"Send/Receive on Start up!
and
Delete messages from the deleted folder on close down!

The Options Tab, which allowed these choices, was on the tool bar, at the top of the window, just below, and just to the left of the Close Window X!

This facility does not appear on the current 2012 version!

I would appreciate any advice on this matter

At the moment, I have to manually select Send/Receive, and manually delete old messages

Hi Theo, When first installing W8 I noticed the 'Tile' for Windows Live Mail in 'all apps'. Didn't take much notice as don't use Live Mail which in W7 & W8 was an integral part of Messenger. However to use Messenger you had to create a Live Mail/Hotmail a/c.
Well having become more settled with what I need in W8 I thought I'd have a look at the 'Windows Live Mail' and so pinned the tile to Start & Desktop. I just opened it today and found it has the new UI of the Ribbon Type which makes it very flexible and perhaps more attractive to future use by me. I also noticed it had the 'Options' you require, which you will find on the Toolbar when you create a new message. Hope this helps.

Hi there

Believe it or not if you can "Legally" get hold of a copy of Windows 2012 server (current release candidate freely downloadable and valid till Jan 15 2013) you could be a LOT better off using this on a Desktop rather than the W8 itself.

Before people point out complexities of using a Server as a desktop OS it's actually EASIER with Windows 2012 server than with previous servers such as Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 servers to "convert" to a desktop OS.

You basically have to do the following to make a server as user friendly as say W7 or W8 as a desktop OS:

1) dismantle all the domain security stuff
2) remove prompts like event log for server re-boots
3) remove the CTRL-ALT-DEL key for logon
4) remove the security restriction / nag you get every time you want to access a non Microsoft web page with IE 10.
5) remove the "Complex password" requirement.

That's got rid of the main nags and inconveniences of using it as a Desktop (or laptop) OS.

Now add Desktop / Laptop experience (Multi-media, "thematic" backgrounds, customisation).

1) enable SOUND -- yes W2012 server unlike W2008 server has fully blown SOUND capabilities (strange in a server --maybe now I can use Hyper-V with vM's and pass SOUND to them !!).

2) enable DESKTOP EXPERIENCE -- this allows W7 themes to be installed and greatly "De-Uglifies" the bog standard bland grey desktop.

3) enable incoming RDP connections if you want to access your "Server... Read more

I am new to Gen2 Hyper-V and so far I simply can't use it, because I am unable to install any (supported) guest OS from an ISO ...

So far I tried that on:
1. my HP Z230/i4770 workstation (Secure Boot disabled) host running Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (with Hyper-V feature enabled), can't boot any VM with supported OS ISO.

2. my home desktop/i3770K (secure Boot enabled) host running Windows 8.1 Pro x64, same result, error during VM boot from ISO, quoted below.

Synthetic SCSI controller (instance blah blah) Failed to Power on with Error 'The version does not support this version of file format'

Gen1 guests of course work perfectly fine with those ISOs, because emulated DVD IDE picks up the official Enterprise Evaluation ISO of either Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows 8.1 x64 Enterprise, perfectly fine and all works OK in Legacy boot mode.
When I create a new guest and select Gen2, then no matter if I check or uncheck the Secure Boot in virtual Boot Order options for the guest (while setting the SCSI DVD at top of course), it simply doesn't work, always same error. I tried first connecting
to VM to see if it prompts for key press, but it doesn't, the error is instant on Power on when (supported) ISO image is selected to be booted.

I verified that both of official Enterprise Evaluation ISO's of either WS2012r2 and W8.1x64 are bootable in both the UEFI mode (Secure Boot enabled) and Legacy BIOS mode using a physical computer.

What am I missing here???

I run Windows 7. I think 64bit, not sure.
I have been getting hit with a lot of rogue antiviruses and up till now have been fighting them off, but last night I was hit by a new rendition of "Windows 7 Antivirus 2012".
I got a window saying explorer.exe wanted to make changes to my computer, I would tell it no and each time it would return. In between the constantly returning window I managed to open the task manager, find the process, and end the process. I then found
the file and destroyed it with killbox.
Everything seems to be back in working order now, except for the firewall. Every page in the control panel for windows firewall gives me an Administrator button that says use reccomended settings', when I click it it says it can't do that and gives
me error 0x800705b4, which I understand to be an authentication error.
The last time I had this I tried to reset my firewall with an admistrator command prompt, it would tell me it could not load wshelper.dll, so I did some stuff I cannot remember to reset my winsock and was then able to reset my firewall and all was good again.
This time when I go into command.com and type 'netsh advfirewall reset' instead of the DLL message, I get 'An error occoured while attempting to contact the  Windows Firewall service. Make sure the service is running and try your request again'.
In my attempts to fix this myself I have been to the device manager. I had it 'show hidden devices' and located my Windows Firewall... Read more

I bought a Gateway laptop in June 2013, with Windows 8 installed and Outlook Mail.
Since I like to have the latest of everything, I immediately downloaded the Windows 8.1 update that was offered.

That worked great and I loved it. Then I decided to download Windows Live Mail 2012, since I have 4 different email accounts and really didn't like the Mail program that came with the computer. After that it was one problem after another. I even asked questions in these Forums, can't find the original post. I tried hundreds of different solutions and some worked for a while, some didn't. I uninstalled/reinstalled Windows Live Mail 2012 a countless number of times.

I got very tired of all that and noticed my laptop was very sluggish. So, I decided to do the Recovery back to factory settings with all my files left intact.

It was work, but it was worth the effort. I've come to the conclusion that my update to 8.1 and Windows Live Mail 2012 were incompatible.

I am now using Windows 8 and Windows Live Mail 2012 with no problem at all. The laptop is working as fast as when I originally got it.

Suffice it to say, newer is not always better!! I'll stick with Windows 8, so I can get and read my email when I wish.

Just an FYI for any of you that might have had similar problems.

A:Windows 8.1 and Windows Live Mail 2012 Problems

Not at all. I use Windows Live Mail 2012 and 8.1 and it works perfectly fine. It also worked fine on Windows 8 and 7 (although perhaps it wasn't 2012 at that point)

Perhaps you fixed something else by mistake

I have a client who is running windows 7 as a server and has run out of inbound connections of 20.

I can't find a solution or an answer to whether I can simply upgrade windows 7 to windows server 2012?

or W7 > W8.1 > WSE2012 ?

Would anybody know?

Thank you in advance

A:What is the upgrade path from Windows 7 to Windows Server 2012?

Welcome to the forum.

There has never been an upgrade path from a client to a server version of Windows. You must do a clean install of the server OS.

Sais here, Install more than one operating system (multiboot) - Windows Help

I should install the older operating system first, windows 7, to run a duel boot with windows 2012 server.

But I am already running 2012 server and would like to just install windows 7 to it. Surely it will work.

I was going to shrink my c volume to create a new partition within my c hard drive and install windows 7 to that.

Or I could just install it to another drive, which I'd prefer not to do. Any advice regarding possibility of doing this?

I presume this is similar to installing windows 8 first and then wanting to install windows 7 afterwards as a duel boot.

Please advise further, cheers

A:Installing Windows 7 after Windows 2012 Server Installatio

It used to be that way with XP, but you`re fine to install 7 after Server 2012.

Personally, I would get another drive, hard drives are cheap and 7 deserves its own.

Hi
I have recently installed a server 2012 and configured remote access and users are able to access RDP from all clients. Recently Windows 7 machines are not able to access the remote desktop, its shows an error "This computer can't connect to the remote
computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator. " I have disabled the network level authentication from local policy but the issue still exists.
Windows 10 machines are able to connect the remote desktop.
Please help me to resolve the same.
Thanks.

Hi,

Before anything else: thanks a lot for any help that you can provide. It is appreciated!

I'm on a Win7 laptop, with F-Secure for protection (antivirus, firewall, etc.). I use CCleaner now and then to get rid of the most obvious cluster etc. There is three things why I'm worried about an infection:

1. While browsing (Firefox), sometimes the browser opens up a new tab which turns grey, showing a popup with a message like: "Windows Antivirus 2012 has found a critical process on your PC and will perform fast scan of system files". The popup comes with on button prompting me to scan me system. I think i never did (although I'm not sure). I usually just close the browser when the grey tab with the popup turns up.
2. I often take this laptop to work and attach it to the network there. A few days ago I got a message from the IT department that my "system was transmitting a virus warning" and that I had to check it. I think this is a bit cryptic, but they must have had some reason to send me this message.
3. Lately my laptop sometimes hangs on shutdown, telling me that I have to wait for a program to close. It offers me the option to force a shutdown, which I never do. After 10 seconds or so, it shuts down by itself. Usually I wouldn't worry about this too much, but seeing the other two problems turning up, I thought it would be good to mention it.

I did a scan with F-Secure, which turned up clean. Then installed and updated MBAM. The qu... Read more

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the ... What version of server 2012 do you have? Also what client operating systems do you have? Windows 7 Home premium, professional, ultimate?

This can affect what services you can offer to clients.

This past weekend had the Antivirus 2012 popup on my PC. I tried to follow different instructions for removing it to no success, I tried the following
all these options were done from a 2nd user the primary user is unworkable.
Opt 1 - change the date in the future - Failed
Opt 2 - FixNCR.reg failed unable to execute
Opt 3 - Rkill and then run a MBAM 1.6 still unable to resolve my issue

Presently I can boot up my computer with either user.
User A - Boots up, no more Antivirus 2012, but when I double click on a application it prompts me how to open it?
User B - Same

Download and run exeHelper. Please download exeHelper from Raktor to your desktop. Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix. A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed. A log file named log.txt will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com Attach the log.txt file to your next message.Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Hold down the power button until the system shuts completely off.  Reboot.  You may have to do this a few times.  Eventually you will get a login screen.  Once you are up, immediately update your NVIDIA graphics card driver from the NVIDIA web site to the Windows 10 version.
I have now updated three 2710's and everything is running great.

I got the malware/virus labeled Windows Security 2012, and have tried diligently to follow your guide "by the letter", but I am still having issues; particularly with internet access...I have it, but it won't allow me to go to certain areas (such as Google), and programs continue to lock up. I have downloaded and activated Windows Security, PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware...every time I run a scan, with one or the other, they find something...now it seems to be pretty much the same thing each time...but, I can tell there are more files than what they are locating, as I see a lot of extra files that don't look "right"...I'm smart enough to know that, but also, smart enough to know that I don't know for sure which ones need to be removed and/or re-written...sending the logs for your review...when you get time, any help or advice you can offer is much appreciated.
