Lenovo Yoga 710 - 14IKB, On screen keyboard not working in tablet mode.

Q: Lenovo Yoga 710 - 14IKB, On screen keyboard not working in tablet mode.

Hi. I have a problem with my yoga 710 in tablet mode. The on screen keyboard just pops up and goes away after a secound. Some say its a problem with Chrome. But the problems also occurs when i try to log in to windows in tablet mode. The keyboard pops up, and goes away so i cant type my passcode. If i flip the pc out of tablet mode and opens the onscreen keybord by pushing on it on the taskbar it stays open. Someone know how to fix this?

Preferred Solution: Lenovo Yoga 710 - 14IKB, On screen keyboard not working in tablet mode.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, in tablet mode on the Yoga 900, the keyboard is split and I'm trying to figure out how set it so it isn't split.  There is a button in the bottom right corner of the right side of the keyboard that looks like a keypad, but nothing happens when I touch it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 2-year-old Lenovo YOGA 510 - 14KIB laptop has been unusable without an external keyboard and mouse for the last month after the latest windows 10 build. I've tried deleting and restoring the drivers but this didn't work. Now when I go to look for the drivers in the device manager I can't find them. I thought this would allow me to redownload them from the Lenovo support website but after trying this several times the only thing I can do with my keyboard is change the underglow of the keys and the touchpad doesn't work at all.  Any tips would be a huge help.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 710 14 " Signature Edition 2-in-1 PC- bought it two days ago. W10. I have problems with the touchscreen when using it as a tablet. The touchscreen is working perfectly when it's in PC mode. Once I fold it and putting it flat (down at the table etc.)- the screen is no longer responding. It's like the touchscreen function is shuting off somehow. Anyone knows how to solve this?? Thanks

When I'm using my laptop in tablet mode and I touch a text entry box to try to type something in, the on-screen keyboar activates, but is essentially invisible - I can only see the outline of where the keyboard is supposed to be. As a result, I can't type anything while I'm in tablet mode, which is rather bothersome.

Dear Community, Dear Lenovo, For a while now my screen keyboard in tablet mode doesnīt work. Always when Iīm in tablet mode and try to tipe something in you can see how the system wants to automatically open the screen keyboard, but itīs just a transparent bar across the bottom third of the screen.Due to that issue the yoga is just useless in tablet mode, which is really annoying, because obviously thatīs one of the reasons you buy that laptop. Hopefully someone can help me soon, maybe someone had the same problem and has already fixed it. Kind regards

Got an inspiron 13 7000 yesterday and trying to use for first time.  When switching to tablet mode, the virtural/on-screen keyboard cannot be selected for use.  It is available in laptop mode (when I don't need it because of the large keyboard in front of me), but not table.

So, I called tech support and was told it was outside of regular tech and they'd transfer me to software tech.  They said there is normally a fee for this support, but since the computer is brand new, there would be not charge.  Software tech refused to help me unless I paid and they transferred me back to hardware tech who put me on hold, then hung up on me.

Wow, nice support on a brand new product!  They want me to pay to get their defective product to work?  I guess it would be cheaper for them to pay for a return shipping label, give me a full refund and sell this as a refurb at half of what they sold it to me for then for them to actually spend a few minutes on the phone trying to help.

Before I return this and buy another brand, does anyone know how to get the on-screen keyboard to work on tablet mode?

Hi all, I've noticed that my Yoga 910 is not auto rotatingwhen I set it to tent mode nor to tablet mode. Not only it doesn't auto rotate but it also keep the keyboard active... Not sure if this is a faulty sensor problem or just some bug. I've tried to follow the solutions presented in other topics but without success even tried a system restore but the problem is still here. I can't really identify which update has created this situtation but I know that when a couple of months ago it was still working. I also have the impression that more are affected, so could Lenovo release a patch to troubleshoot and solve such an important issue for a Yoga product (basically there is no Yoga functionality with this problem). Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello my name is Santiago. Today I tried to update my drivers using a third party software named "Driver Booster". As soon as I restarted my laptop I could notice that the touchpad was not working. As i didnīt create a restore point I restarted my computer back to factory settings in order to get rid of the drivers. But when the restart finished, the touchpad did not work either. I tried to look for touchpad drivers in the driver page of my computer but could not find any, in my settings I looked for touchpad and is nowhere to be seen, when I go to the hardware section of the mouse settings the box to enable touch pad isnt either, and lastly in my device manager in the sector of mouse & other pointing devices I can only see the driver of the Lenovo Pen Device. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? Because I already ran of options that I found on the internet. Thanks For Your Time.

I have Lenovo Yoga 530 14ikb which I bought in South Korea. The exact model number is 81EK0063KR. Active pen 1 was delivered together when I bought my laptop, but it's broken, so I want to buy a new active pen now. Since I did a lot of drawing and writing with active pen 1, I thought active pen 2 will give me better experience. So, before going to buy active pen 2, I want to check if it's working with my laptop. I've checked some posts from this community, some people said, active pen 2 is working with Yoga 530, but in official Lenovo website, my laptop is not included in the list of compatibility of active pen 2. I need to buy it as quick as possible. I would be quite appreciate, if you clarify my doubt.Thank you for reading, wating for reply.

Hey, all. I'm writing this because I'm pretty perplexed about what's going on here, and I'm hoping someone can offer some advice. Several days ago, I noticed that the G and H keys were not functioning quite right. They would stop working, seemingly at random, and I could fix it momentarily by holding them down for a moment, but it didn't last long. Then I noticed the same thing with several others, including the tab key and the left alt. Now, when they do work, it's slower than the other keys. I mean that I frequently mistype certain words that were never a problem for me before. "That" becomes "taht," for example. We all make mistakes from time to time, but these mistakes are new and extremely frequent (and extremely irritating). I don't put liquids near my laptop -- ever -- because I actually did ruin one and had to get really creative, really quickly, to solve the problems that created. At first I thought maybe there were a couple of food particles under the G and H, like a seed or two from an everything bagel. But I haven't had one of those since before this all started, so it doesn't explain the tab and left alt keys. The only thing I can think of is that my cat has been walking on my laptop more frequently in the last few weeks. But I've had cats all my life, and most of them have sat on at least one laptop, but never caused this problem. She also doesn't go outside, except to chill on the porch (we live on the second floor, it's kind of a small balcony a... Read more

Hi,      I bought my Lenovo YOGA 530-14IKB 3 months back, it worked fine, but I started to notice that bottom right quarter of the touch screen is not working, It is working when screen is at exact 90 degrees in laptop mode but when I tilt the screen back by some 10-15 degrees the bottom right part of the touch screen is not working. The lenovo pen is working fine on this section of screen. Facing same issue in tablet mode also. I don't think this is software issue, maybe the connection at the  hinge got screwed up. The laptop is still under warranty. All the Drivers are up to date. Can I get a replacement if I go to service center or is this a software issue which can be solved ?

Hello Lenovo forum users, thank you for taking the time to read my post. According to the user guide, the yoga 530 should lock the keyboard and touch pad when the screen is tilted more than 190 degrees. But mine only locks at 360 degrees.I searched this forum and tried a few solutions for different models.I updated all drivers via the preinstalled Lenovo Vantage software as well as via the Lenovo Driver and software website (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-530-14ikb/download...).I read that there should be a ymc service (yoga mode controll) running, but I dont have that. The update didn't offer me yoga mode control drivers. Is there another driver or software specific to the yoga 530?

Hey guys  Quick question here: Just oppened my new Yoga 520 today and I noticed somehting strange happening on the screen. From the  3 pictures below:-1st is how the desplay looks from a front angle. The only flickering/anomalies you will notice is from the camera limitaitons on my smarthpone.-2nd picture is where the issue is clear in the picture and morso with the naked eye. These humps become very noticeble when you view the screen from a side angle.-3rd picture is just to emphasize the outline on these humps which are more visable from what can be captured on my camera. Also, these anomalies stretch on the uppers side of the screen as well. Can anyone tell me what these are? If I should worry? If they are normal or of they will get worse, and if I should take the notebook the a lenovo shop to change something on the desplay? Thank you for your time!

I booted up my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro today, and it keeps going tablet mode during the Windows startup sequence-(he first time I booted it up after the extended waranty expired at the beginning of the month).  The keyboard lights briefly, but then goes dark and I can only login using the soft keyboard or number pad.  At times the screen will change to portrait mode, even though the unit is clearly landscape oriented, or will invert. If I open up the Lenovo vantage software it clealry showed that the keyboard light was shut off and the touchpad disabled-I could change both settings, but the keyboard still wouldn't work and the touchpad was in landscape and the screen was in portrait, so it was kind of unusable.  I have to rely on touchscreen and soft keyboard.I did a reinstall of Windows, and it worked for about an hour before reverting to tablet mode only.I have changed Settings to eliminate Tablet mode, to no avail.I tried deleting the HID driver for selecting laptop/slate indicator, but it just reinstalled on the next start-up.Hardware sensor issue or software?

Hi, I recently bought an used 910 and thought it was a good idea to return it to Factory Settings. As novo button was not working, I tried using the recovery image (downloaded from Lenovo support site), but it threw an error by the end of its process and Windows was unusable; for some reason lenovo support stated that I wasnt able to download the image again and point me up to download W10 directly. I proceed to download W10 directly and install it without ANY problem, later I installed all the applications/ drivers from:https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ar/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-910-13ikb/download... Now for the problems:* When I fold into tablet mode, tablet mode IS enabled... but keyboard and trackpad are still 100% active.* Accelerometer/ sensors are showing "noise" by Lenovo Diagnostics, this in turn make that when on tablet mode, to be "wacky"... like tablet mode on and off. All of this is specially odd, as prior to formatting tablet mode was working fine... I know, if it is working, do not fix it... but I thought that after buying a laptop to a stranger, it was a good thing to do. Now for the checkups:* YMC (yoga mode control) service is installed and running.* Another post stated about installing OneKey optimizer  and Harmonize, I couldnt find those for Win10.* No missing drivers found on Device Manager... but:   - Keyboard is stated as: Standard PS/2 Keyboard (is this correct?). After that it starts and Boots into Windows where the internal keyboard is working again. I am suspecting the keyboard disabeling mechanism when you put it into Yoga mode, because the error seems to happen more often when the keykeyboard is folded away. Do you have any suggestions how to resolve the issue? I have a few-months old Yoga 2 11 that was working perfectly, until a few weeks ago when I went to use it in tablet mode the display screen went all out of whack. It turns the screen, but only half of it - the top half of the screen is turned and the menu bar shows up in the middle of the screen, and the bottom half looks like the screen in regular computer mode.  I've tried restarting, tried turning tablet mode off, but every time I flex it back to use as a tablet this happens, virtually making that feature unuseable. I currently use a Lenovo ThinkPad S1 Yoga, and have recently upgraded the 64-bit OS from Windows 8.1 to 10.Since then I have been experiencing issues where ?Tablet Mode? will activate suddenly and randomly while I am using my ultrabook in laptop mode. This is especially frustrating because it often occurs while I am using the keyboard which will then be disabled, and cannot be re-enabled. I have attempted to turn on/off the various Tablet Mode settings ? ?Make Windows more touch-friendly??, ?When I sign in...?, ?When this device automatically??, ?Hide app icons??, but no pair of settings seemed to work. In the end, I am forced to reboot, which is the only solution that resolves the matter. What steps can I take to resolve this matter once and for all without having to restart the system constantly?

A:Spontaneous Tablet Mode w/ lenovo thinkpad s1 yoga

Hi

In my case I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 and it took me some time to stabilize Windows 10 on it. I went updating the driver over time until it get stable.

I also have some settings similar to you, but mine (for example)  sometimes switches to tablet mode when I close the lid, but when I open it Windows change very fast to laptop mode, so it does not bother me.

I can suggest you to try to update your drivers, here are some of my tips to update the drivers on a Thinkpad when going to Windows 10.

These are some of my tips to update the drivers of your Thinkpad:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

If you have more experience installing and uninstalling driver, there are some other things you can do, but those options os AS IS outside Lenovo's suggestion.
1) There is DriverEasy that offers a decent for free scanning of your device and shows you which drivers can be updated from their database.
2) According to your machine devices you have the Intel Driver Update Utility and the AMD Driver Update Utility, sometimes it can help... Read more

So, got my Yoga yesterday. After repartitioning the hard drive (what is Lenovo thinking?) and restoring from my USB recovery disk, I have a nicely working computer. Except for one slightly annoying thing. When I flip the screen over into tablet mode the keyboard becomes disabled (perfect). When I flip the screen back over into the normal laptop position the keyboard remains disabled (ugh!!!). The only solution I have at the moment is to close the laptop and reopen it. The keyboard works again but I have to relog into Windows. Running Windows 8. Only things I did other then changing the drive partitions is remove some unwanted default software that was installed.

I have factory reset my yoga 3 pro numerous times and I can never get the keyboard to disable in tablet mode. Furthermore, the laptop should automatically switch to tablet mode when flipping the screen into tent mode, etc but it doesn't. Also, the laptop never is able to auto-rotate vertically.  I have followed the instructions on the lenovo site by keeping lenovo harmony and one key optimizer but that solution never works. Recently I have noticed that the screen brightness key doesn't work properly either. I use the dimming keys and they either make the screen the highest level of brightness or the lowest but no level in-between. I have factory reset this laptop so many times. I feel like some of the original programs that came with the computer could be interfering or Lenovo just doesn't bother to keep the software up to date...

A few weeks ago (after some updates) I noticed my Yoga does not automatically disable the keyboard and mouse when swithced to tent or tablet mode.  ------------------------Things I have tried:------------------------ 1. Deleteing every single Lenovo utility and driver that could be related to this and reinstalling them. (Starting with Lenovo Yoga Control which should be the driver that runs the transitions, but also BIOS, chipstet and the standard lenovo settings and utilities). In any case, YMC.exe was and is still running in task manager, to no avail. 2. Installing previous verions of Lenovo Harmony (which actually recognizes when my device goes into tent or tablet mode and gives me the popup saying "your device is now in tent mode" but does not disable the keyboard or mouse). 3. Doing a system restore to a few months ago, but problem persists.  4. I am having this issue with my Yoga, it used to happen rarely but now it happens more than several times a day. While I am using the tablet in laptop mode, it will suddenly give a popup asking if I want to switch to tablet mode. I select no, because, I'm using it as a laptop. But then the Yoga disables my keyboard and trackpad. I have tried turning it to tablet mode and turnign it back again. I've tried closing the screen, or flipping the screen around. I've tried going into system settings and enabling and disabling the keyboard and trackpad, but they stay disabled. My bios and drivers are up to date. I would LOVE to be able to just manually turn off this automatic disabling of the keyboard and trackpad, but that doesn't seem possible. This computer just seems really confused about what mode I'm using it in. The only solution I have presently is to completley shut off the computer, but even then, sometimes I've had to do this several times. It seems other people have had this issue but the topics get prematurely closed. I have tried other solutions presented but they don't work for me.

Got an inspiron 13 7000 series yesterday and the on screen keyboard will not work in tablet mode.  The selection for the screen keyboard goes away when I fold into tablet.  Anyone know how to make screen keyboard work in tablet mode?

I've had this laptop only for 3 days and for the past 2 it has stopped asking me if I want to switch to tablet mode when I pick the laptop up and begin to fold it back a bit... Another and more important issue is that the physical keyboard and touchpad DON'T disable when I use the laptop in either stand, tent or tablet modes. Please help me resolve these problems!

The hardware on my one month old Yoga 910-13IKB (Windows 10 Pro ver. 1703) is now stuck in what seems like tablet mode:The built-in keyboard does not work anymoreThe touchpad does not work anymoreThe screen is stuck in landscape mode and does not rotate when the laptop is in tent modeThe speakers are stuck with the awful tablet-mode sound qualityWhen I boot to the BIOS, the keyboard works with no issue. However, when the OS boots, it almost instantly switches to the previously described mode. If I spam the keyboard as the laptop boots, it briefly works (I can type 3-4 letters on the log in screen) and then instantly stops working. Things I have already attempted:Looking for an answer onlineRebooting the laptop multiple timesTurning the laptop off and then turning it on againUpdating the drivers (+ reboot)Reinstalling Yoga Mode Control (+ reboot)Opening/closing the lid from its closed state to the tablet state and everything in betweenThings I am reticent to do:Since this is a brand new machine, I do not feel comfortable fiddling with the actual hardware (i.e. opening it to remove a battery to do a hard reset)Suspected source of the issue:I think this has to do with the laptop believing that it's being booted while the hardware is in tablet mode (screen rotated all the way open) although it isn't. I am severely disappointed in how finicky this laptop is for the price...Thank you for any help
