Realtek (people hear what i hear)

Q: Realtek (people hear what i hear)

Hi guys

I have this problem, for quite some time now and i can't for the life of me...fix it.

When ever i'm talking to people on any kinda of voice chat application, like Skype for example they can hear what i hear clearly, and sometimes even better than me. It's not only annoying for them...but annoying for me as well when i have to listen to them complaining about it.

I read that some onboard soundcards have those problems, and they can't be fixed. Don't tell me this is true. I've tried almost everything my intelligence possibly allows me to, please assist a tired old man in his seemingly futile atempt to save his soundcard from replacement.

Thank you
Izgol

Preferred Solution: Realtek (people hear what i hear)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Izgol. Welcome to TSG,

You could try muting Stereo Mix in your sound settings.

For XP:

Click on Start > Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices.

Choose the Audio tab then click on Volume under Sound Recording.

Click on Options, put a check next to Stereo Mix and click OK.

Under Stereo Mix click on Mute.

Hopefully this sorts out your issue.

First of all, duplicate-posting is bad, don't do it

On to the problem - have you tried installing the latest drivers for your audio device? You may also want to check the default recording device in Sounds & Audio properties from the Control Panel.

Hi there, I have a problem that has driven me over the edge time and time again in ages past. I have a microphone headset, and when I try to speak, it doesn't pick up my voice at all. However, when I listen to music or a video, my friends can hear that in full through my headset. I have never been able to find any solution for this online. The issue just seems to come and go whenever it feels like it. Please help!

A:People can hear what I hear, but not my voice.

We'd love to help. So help us too.
What is the make and model# of the headset?
Does the Headset use a USB Connection or does it use mini Pink and Green TRS plugs?
Did you try going to the manufacturers Support/Download drivers site and download the latest Driver?
Do you have an Audio Control Panel in your Taskbar by the clock and the speaker icon? Have you gone to the Audio Control Panel and Configured the Mic and adjusted the Volume?
Try this, go to Control Panel/Sound Highlight Microphone, click the Configure button. Go thru the steps to Setup your Microphone.

Hey !

I would like start off by saying that I know that there are a lot threads about this problem already, but I googled for hours without any success. I tried everything I came across but nothing worked. I have tried the following:
1. Turning "Stereo Mix" off
2. Turning off the built-in microphone "play-back" in the Realtek HD-audio configuration
3. Tried configuring Skype's embedded audio settings
But nothing has worked so far. I only use 2 devices (one for the mic, and one for sound) and it is only those that are active, the rest are disabled.
I have enabled both "Reduction of Noise" and "Acoustic echo off" in the sound card's control panel.
What more is there to try?

I have the onboard sound card on the "MS-7360" mobo.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I'm not going to lie, I registered to help troubleshoot this

I just picked up a new headset (it's irrelevant, but for bragging rights, Sennheiser PC350 ), and Windows and microphones have ALWAYS given me problems. I've got it now to where Windows picks up the mic and it works, but people can hear what I'm listening to. I.e., if I play some music, whoever I'm talking to in skype can hear the music; MSN messages, themselves talking, etc etc.

I'm using an nForce 680i SLI, with Realtek HD (5.00.10) drivers. These are my current windows settings (I haven't installed Photoshop yet, so MS Paint it is =():

audio1.jpg - http://i38.tinypic.com/2hegbvn.jpg
audio2.jpg - http://i35.tinypic.com/257fukg.jpg

The way I fixed the mic before was I set it up how I knew it was supposed to work, rebooted, and Windows picked up my mic. I'm thinking I have to set it correctly again (so this sound echo/reverb goes away) and do a reboot.

Does anyone have any idea?

**edit**

I found out what the problem was. (MSPaint again yay!)

However, they can only hear loud sounds.
So for example, if I'm listening to 50% volume on the VLC player, they can hear anything.
If I get it to 100%, they can hear it, but not as clearly as I.
Is this the microphones fault? Because this randomly started happening.

This will be skype's audio cancelation failing here... its not a problem... I am actually talking on skype now, and I'm getting the same thing, my friend just recieved a text message (I heard the phone vibrate on his desk)... its not a major problem...its just where Skype is not as ... You may find your microphone is turned down.

Please describe the noise in more detail, is it coming from the speakers or from inside the laptop. Is the system working normally apart from these two hitches?

I am having serious feedback issues with my onboard sound card. I have a Gigabyte MA74GM-S2 (rev. 2.0) Motherboard, and fo the last month or two been having serious feedback issues. For example, when I'm playing a game and I hit my talk key, my game audio goes through my mic and other people hear it. Other people also hear feedback sometimes or an echo when I talk. I don't know if this is a common issue? I have the latest drivers for my card, and am not quite sure what to do on this one. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I have encountered this issue recently.

1. My system was working fine.
2. I installed an ASUS EAH4770 video card which has HDMI port built in.
3. Installed an old game Call of Duty 2 and played.
4. Then PC started to go to Hardware Wizard after booting up and trying to find and install Hdaudbus.sys (UAA HD audio class driver). Of course, fail to install. However, the audio was still fine.
5. Finally, decided to resolve this. Found the MS kb888111 fix. Use a trick to install it on SP3 and the version is 5.10.1.5013.
6. Boot up. UAA is found and installed. No more nagging wizard.
7. Then sounds begin to have problems:
a. If I set <None> in the Environment field of Realtek Sound Manager, some sounds would not be heard while some sounds were still fine. For example, the main vocal in a song may be very hard to hear while the accompanying instruments are clear and loud.
b. If I set Generic in the Environment field, the above main vocal can be heard but every sound trails with this electronic guitar effect.
c. If I play the 3D audio demo of the Realtek Sound Manger, it sounds OK.

Yes, I have re-installed all the latest drivers from the manufacture of the MB. Install kb888111 a couple of times. But there is no avail. It looks like the mixer is messed up.

Has anyone encountered such a problem?

Hello all,
My problem: My computer can not locate my sound card. The system was working fine before (AMD 800 Mhz, 256 PC-100, ATI 8mb video card, MX-300 monster sound card on a Tyan Trinity MB) I decided that a clean HD was in order. I copied essential files over to a second HD and reformatted the primary. The OS was installed (WIN98) and all devices were being found except the sound card. The card itself never physically moved from the PCI slot it had occupied before while it was working. I tried manually installing the card and driver, nada. I moved the card to a different PCI slot, again nothing. I took another sound card and installed it (drivers), again the big zero. The drivers would all install but the card was never recognized as being present.

I am not an expert in computer hardware, but I have put together 6 systems without a problem (well, at least in this category!).

There is no on-board audio in the bios and I am at complete loss. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
-John

A:I can't hear!

Just that you should physically remove the card, reboot in safe mode and remove all drivers for both cards. Reinstall the card then again install the Tyan drivers. If still no go, look for device conflicts in the Device Manage.

I have Internet friends from around the world. I use Google Talk to converse with these people. It is so nice to be able to talk with someone half way around the world for as long as I like and at no charge. Or is it?

There is one nagging problem which occurs in XP, Vista and Win7 (A long time for a bug go uncorrected). None of us can get our microphone levels to stay where we set them.

Often, after talking for a few minutes, either party will have trouble hearing the other. Upon checking the Microphone Properties, we find the microphone level has moved from where it was set, to near zero. You must end the conversation before you can reset the microphone to a desired level.

Does anyone know how or why the the level keeps dropping, and if there is anyway to prevent it from happening?

A:Can You Hear Me?

Hi likekinds

I believe the levels will go down based on volume sensitivity, for example, if you shout into your microphone, it will reduce the level.

If this is a problem across multiple Operating Systems, then it probably is not that. It could be a hardware issue (specifically your headset might be a bit sensitive/too close to your mouth?) or it could the software you are using, such as a messenger client. These things can change the levels.

You could try seeing if this only happens when you have one piece of software running (maybe Google Talk?), if so, try another.

Perhaps try another headset? Or reinstalling the drivers for your current one.

I am not sure if there is a way to disable programs from changing these levels.

Good luck.

Hello people.
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and I've heard that Microsoft only included What U Hear by default in the Business, Ultimate and Professional versions?

Is this true? I've had to find a work around to get What U Hear to display in the recording devices section (Can't remember how I did it), but when I set it to the default device and attempt to play sounds for recording, nothing happens still.

So is it impossible to go about this in Home Premium version? Am I forced to upgrade to another version when this feature was previously available in older Operating Systems such as Windows XP? Does Microsoft really believe all their customers are pirates or something? Why the hell would they remove such a feature and only have it available in an upgrade from a previous downgrade?

Software such as Audicity and Freecorder (which do record sound like What U Hear) are not really an option for me, I'm using software like Camtasia to broadcast live to UStream and Audacity/Freecorder are invalid sound inputs.

Can someone please verify for me whether the above statement is true (Whether Microsoft did only include it in W7 Pro/Biz/Ulti versions) before I go and make the upgrade.

Is anyone else here capable of using What U Hear as a sound input for recording on Windows 7 Home/Premium operating systems?
If so, could it be my Sound card which does not support it?

Hello.

I've not noticed until now, but I cannot record sounds from the Internet, e.g. streaming radio There is no 'Stereo Mix' or 'What You Hear' on my installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

I have the awful onboard Realtek sytem. Is it fixable?

A:No 'What You Hear'

Most new RealTek drivers include the Stereo Mix. However, we have seen a couple of vendors that did not enable that function. I have a Gigabyte motherboard and the Gigabyte RealTek driver has the Stereo Mix.

Go to the Sound Panel/Recording Section. RIGHT click in an empty area in that panel, and then check the boxes to Show Disabled and Disconnected Devices. Then see if Stereo Mix shows up.

Some physicians said that there are certain special situations when data on a patient portal should be hidden or in private.

Are there certain privacy features that could help physicians meet the ethical challenge of preserving the privacy?

A:Anyone hear of EMR/EHR?

Never heard of it. Having said that, companies are hacked all of the time. And that is for information that isn't shared. Anything that is available/shared is much more at risk.

My daughter's HP windows XP acquired a worm and I thought I removed it but when she started it yesterday, everything Windows came up in binary code. Since I can't read computer code I'm lost. I even asked the computer instructors at Walla Walla Community College and they claim to have never heard of this happening.
Does anyone in this forum know anything about this and if so how to fix it? We are not computer experts or even close, but I have some understanding of them.
Thanks,
Vikiblueyes

At first I thought my speakers were blown. That would make the most sense... I am hearing a loud SHHHHHH static when I turn them up...and I can barely here my music playing in the background. SO I plug in another set of speakers and whatdya know? Same problem. So I try headphones. Same problem. I think the problem is my computer... But my itunes and my main sound device is turned up... what could the problem be? (And please dont say the chords or im plugged into the wrong hole....im not because that is NOT it). Help.
