I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

i don't know if i am missing something or it is a bug on w10.
i click "add new bluetooth device" and then i can pair a lumia, ok. i can see my phone in "join personal area network" window.
if i try to pair the phone from "join personal area network" window i can see it in bluetooth devices list but not in "join personal area network" window.
so... it is a bug?! did i make anything wrong?! what is the difference between "add new bluetooth device" and "join personal area network" on w10?! what is "join personal area network" used for?!
thanks

A:"add new bluetooth device" vs "join personal area network"

Most likely a bug with your Windows phone, not Windows 10. Microsoft is not supporting the Lumia line that well. It does help when you ask for help, that you also post the model of the phone, what OS version it is running, along with screenshots or logs of what is wrong.

While in the process of updating the wireless adapter, I noticed that the Personal Area Network Adapter needed updating as well. Please can you let me know what this adapter is used for?

I dont think I have any software for it that came with the laptop. Can you please advise which software uses this adapter?

Thank you in advance.

A:Libretto U100 - Personal area network adapter must be updated

Hi

The Personal Area Network Adapter (WPAN) is similar to the WLan but the reach of a PAN is typically a few meters.
A wireless personal area network (WPAN) can also be made possible with network technologies such as Bluetooth.

Maybe you need to update the BT stack because this notebook supports also the BT technology??? On the Toshiba driver page you can find the newest BT stack.

Dear tanjib2,
The Blue Tooth device drivers appear corrupted. Try to uninstall and it is always safe and prudent to download the drivers from the Dell site. For that you have to register( I don't know why they are making it tough). Kindly visit this site to register and then to download the drivers for your model of Dell.

Hello, I've been trying to use my PS3 Bluetooth headset as usual on my PC for ventrilo, but ever since I've had a probelm with my PC Ram where I had to remove them and place them in different slot, it doesn't seam to work anymore. I have a window 7 64-bit and I'm using a Bluetooth adapter on my pc (dongle) to be able to have a bluetooth device section.

Here are all the step I took:

1) I've tried to open my mic like usual, it registered the mic like usual. But the "B" icon never turned green like normal to say that the headset device was connected and the headset in the device list never got the green check mark on it. Still, the computer did as if sound should have come to a headset device because the speaker didn't play audio anymore. After multiple test, I decided to start from a blank sleeve.

2) I've deleted the program for the driver , Bluetooth Software download (broadcom), unplugged my adapter and restarted the  whole thing. Where I've replaced back my adapter in the only port that seam to be enable for Bluetooth adapter for the software to detect it, install the driver (take a good 10 minute) and finish installation. After doing all this, I did the usual add a device to the bluetooth section. Did the normal registery of my mic. Here something I don't remember when pairing, it gave me 3 option. a) Pairing with a code b)make a code for me to pair c)device doesn't need a pairing code. I went for C, because A still gave error and B didn't do much ... Read more

I have been having problem connecting to my wireless modem through LAN cable out of a sudden 4 weeks ago.

Whenever I try to connect now, it will say "acquiring network address" and it will subsequently fail or says "limited or no connectivity". I've tried repairing the connection but it doesn't seem to work.

To check whether it is the problem with my modem, I have tested using my wireless connection and it seems to work fine. I've also ping 127.0.0.1 and got the response immediately.

A:Problem with Local Area Network

The symptoms are you have either a driver issue, bad cable, bad port on the router, or a bad NIC.

I'd start by reloading the NIC drivers, if that doesn't do it, use a new cable and a new port on the router. If all else fails, you'll need a new NIC. Since that would be part of the motherboard, let's hope it's not the NIC.

Are you getting any 'link light' on the card you plug the cable into? Usually a little green light or Amber I think it is on Dell. If you are not I suggest trying a different cable from your modem to your PC.

Also, is your PC directly connected to the modem or into a router?

And when setting your IP address are you going to Start --> Control Panel --> Network Connections?

Hi all,

Im not sure if anyone else has had this problem or noticed it, but I have enabled the GPO prevent users from adding files to the root of thier users files folder on our network as we use folder re-directs to my documents which in theory should keep everything tidy. This works up until a point, if I try and browse to the location and create a file I cant. If I try and drag a file into that location I cant, but as soon as I try to save as it lets me - any ideas why this would be?

A:Disable write access to personal folder (root location of user area)

It only affects Windows Explorer not applications using the win32 file APIs. Which is why it resides within the "Windows Explorer" group policy tree.

I paired Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse to my Windows 7 Professional x64 HP ZBook 14 which is connected to my company's corporate domain. Everything worked beautifully until they had to re-image my PC to resolve a disk encryption issue. That issue is resolved, but I have had bad luck getting my keyboard and mouse to pair and remain connected ever since. However, that's not even the problem now. After troubleshooting my Bluetooth issues by installing different driver versions, pairing and un-pairing my keyboard and mouse, changing settings in Bluetooth Support Service and more, I now have two Bluetooth Peripheral devices that always appear in Device Manager. I believe these are remnants of previously paired devices, but I can not get rid of them no matter what I try. These devices do not show up in Devices and Printers, they become Bluetooth Low Energy HID Devices when I install the computer manufacturer's drivers... As I typed this I thought of installing the Intel Bluetooth drivers I had previously installed to see what would happen... Ok that made things worse. Now there are three random Bluetooth Low Energy HID Devices and none of them are actual devices that are paired to the PC. And pairing the devices does not help. If I could, I would just delete the registry keys but I can't (remember, corporate domain PC). Any help from you brilliant people would be great. Thank you!

The Bluetooth settings page says "Bluetooth is turned off" and there are no options on the settings page or the system tray to turn Bluetooth on.
The Device Manager now has "Unknown USB device - device descriptor request failed" where it did not before.
Other devices all seem to be working fine - USB devices plugged in are being recognized and work properly. Only BT seems to be broken.
I've tried:
uninstalling the device and rebooting
installing the latest updated chipset drivers from the dell website
windows updates
pretty much all of the advice here: http ://troubleshooter.xyz/wiki/fix-usb-device-not-recognized-device-descriptor-request-failed

Any other ideas?

Problem 1:
A week or two ago, an unidentified wireless network suddenly appeared in the notification area. Name of the network is Vortex.  No response when I click or right click on it, to 'forget this network'. Drop down menu connect automatically is ticked-

search for its location on my PC, so there's no way I know how to remove it.  I have a very stringent antivirus, malware application and also use Malwarebytes to remove infections and spyware. However, I searched online for this Vortex network and it
seems that it is malware-- however, after full scans of my PC, with both my internet security app and Malwarebytes, this Vortex network still appears in the network notification window below my private network server.  How do I remove it?  And what
settings should I temporarily activate in the Network and Sharing Center in order to view all networks on my PC in Command prompt?   This network can surely not be a neighbour's network-- as my connection settings are very private.  I cannot block
it with Firewall, because no path is available to do so. I have a feeling this Vortex may have been bundled wi... Read more

Can only suggest you may not be using the latest wireless driver, but if you are, it must be a typo in the signature file written into the card's firmware which can only be changed by the manufacturer and may be noticed by them in the next release.

If its working, I wouldn't loose any sleep over it.

When using Windows 10 how do I prevent/disable Windows 10 from automatically showing any (and all) of my currently installed pictures/images stored on my computer hard drive when simply asking Windows 10 a question or simply doing a search within the ?Ask Me Anything? area in the bottom left corner of Windows 10?

Thanks

A:Bluetooth Device won't appear in Device Manager

Are you saying you put your device in discovery mode but you can't detect it from Win 7? Do you have any other BT devices that are detected?

hi all,

Im trying to install a LinkSys network card, and it doesn't work after I do. When I try to reinstall in device manager, the error I get is "name is already in use as either a device name or service name"

I've tried all the obvious... uninstall, reinstall stuff. I know I have to play with the registry to fix this but I dont know where to start. Can anyone help me, because as of now, my mother's computer doesn't get the internet!

thanks in advance everyone

I am not a networking expert, but in the past have been able to figure out how to keep a network of several home PC's running several versions of Windows. Now, however, with Windows 10, I have having difficulties, and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
I have been running desktops with Windows XP, Windows 7, and a notebook with Vista, and just set up a desktop and notebook running Windows 10.
The problem...despite checking multiple forums and Google links, I cannot get the Lenovo Yoga Win 10 notebook to recognize the all of the networked devices, or be recognized by the Windows 10 desktop on the network. Those other devices do, however, show up as homegroup connected devices.
Here is a summary of which device sees what:
Lenovo notebook (Win 10, Version 1511, OS build 10586.36): sees the Windows 7 desktop, and the Vista notebook, does not see the Windows 10 desktop, or XP desktop
Windows 7 desktop: sees all four devices, i.e. the XP system, the Lenovo system, the Vista notebook, and the Win 10 desktop
Vista notebook: sees all four devices, i.e. the Lenovo Win 10 notebook, the Windows 10 desktop, the XP system, and the Windows 7 desktop
Windows 10 desktop (Windows 10 pre version 1511 upgrade): sees the XP system, the Windows 7 desktop, the Vista notebook, does not see the Lenovo Windows 10 notebook
I really do not want to spend endless hours fiddling with obscure network settings, or hours on the phone with Microsoft tech support. From what I have ... Read more

I have an machine running Windows XP pro that has two network adapters:

- One is a Linksys LNE 100TX card plugged into a PCI slot

- The other is an integrated network card (unknown vendor)

At one time in the past I had both network adapters running because I was going to use the machine as a firewall, but other projects came up and it just didn't happen. I can't remember what I did, but I must of uninstalled the driver on the integrated card or something, because it doesn't show up under Control Panel -> Network Connections. I can only see the Linksys card.
I just bought a new machine and I want to put the Linksys card into it, and use the integrated network card for the old machine. Under the device manager, I can see the Linksys card and under "Other devices" I see "Ethernet Controller" with a yellow question mark by it. This looks like it might be the integrated Network Adapter. I look at the properties for this and I see that "The device is not configured correctly (Code 1)

Since I don't know which driver to install and I do not have a CD for this integrated card, I opened up my machine to see if I see the name of it, but there isn't anything there to determine what type of integrated card that it is so I know which drive to install.

I've tried letting the wizard find the appropriate driver for it on the Internet, but it fails.

I've tried different drivers when I do it manually, but each driver instal... Read more

A:Problem Installing Network Adapter Device Driver

Hello SysTech GuyYou could try windows update. Sometimes it picks up on network drivers and updates them. Or you could download WinAuditand have a look for the other network adapter. Also, if the device is embedded into the motherboard, what make and model is the board? This will lead to finding the adaptor.
