Yoga 3 Pro, fails to change to tablet mode or disable keyboard

Q: Yoga 3 Pro, fails to change to tablet mode or disable keyboard

I have factory reset my yoga 3 pro numerous times and I can never get the keyboard to disable in tablet mode. Furthermore, the laptop should automatically switch to tablet mode when flipping the screen into tent mode, etc but it doesn't. Also, the laptop never is able to auto-rotate vertically. I have followed the instructions on the lenovo site by keeping lenovo harmony and one key optimizer but that solution never works. Recently I have noticed that the screen brightness key doesn't work properly either. I use the dimming keys and they either make the screen the highest level of brightness or the lowest but no level in-between. I have factory reset this laptop so many times. I feel like some of the original programs that came with the computer could be interfering or Lenovo just doesn't bother to keep the software up to date...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all. I'm looking for: The names of current/correct Lenovo software, services, drivers, and background processes that should all be running on this laptop model, and Dependent Microsoft services, drivers and processes.... that must all be installed and working properly to enter and exit tablet mode correctly by folding the physical keyboard back. I've tried all commonly discussed solutions I've found online. None of them resolve the issue or are clear about which system components the feature depends for this model laptop. Very frustrating. Thank you for any help or tips.

Hi all, I've noticed that my Yoga 910 is not auto rotatingwhen I set it to tent mode nor to tablet mode. Not only it doesn't auto rotate but it also keep the keyboard active... Not sure if this is a faulty sensor problem or just some bug. I've tried to follow the solutions presented in other topics but without success even tried a system restore but the problem is still here. I can't really identify which update has created this situtation but I know that when a couple of months ago it was still working. I also have the impression that more are affected, so could Lenovo release a patch to troubleshoot and solve such an important issue for a Yoga product (basically there is no Yoga functionality with this problem). Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have an issue with my X1 yoga. When I turn back the lid, the laptop remains in computer moder and doesn't automatically change to tablet mode. In the settings, I've already chosen "Always switch to tablet mode". When I first got the laptop, the tablet on and off switch was very smooth when I turn back/front the lid. But after a few months use, it malfunctions... So I wonder if any software will block the function? Thank you for your help in advance!

Hello, I'm having trouble starting my 260. Im using the hard drive decryption and therefore need to enter password before booting. Once in a while, the keyboard refuses to work directly After a restart. backlight comes up during the first second. But at the password screen it just doesn't respond. I have to plug in an external USB keyboard to enter the key. After that it starts and Boots into Windows where the internal keyboard is working again. I am suspecting the keyboard disabeling mechanism when you put it into Yoga mode, because the error seems to happen more often when the keykeyboard is folded away. Do you have any suggestions how to resolve the issue? Im on a business trip right know and can't use the Laptop anymore due to no avaliable keyboard. Best regards Martin

A few weeks ago (after some updates) I noticed my Yoga does not automatically disable the keyboard and mouse when swithced to tent or tablet mode.  ------------------------Things I have tried:------------------------ 1. Deleteing every single Lenovo utility and driver that could be related to this and reinstalling them. (Starting with Lenovo Yoga Control which should be the driver that runs the transitions, but also BIOS, chipstet and the standard lenovo settings and utilities). In any case, YMC.exe was and is still running in task manager, to no avail. 2. Installing previous verions of Lenovo Harmony (which actually recognizes when my device goes into tent or tablet mode and gives me the popup saying "your device is now in tent mode" but does not disable the keyboard or mouse). 3. Doing a system restore to a few months ago, but problem persists.  4. Checking if my Sensor Monitoring Service was running (it is running).  I am pretty irritated at this point and fresh out of ideas. Any help pretty please

The hardware on my one month old Yoga 910-13IKB (Windows 10 Pro ver. 1703) is now stuck in what seems like tablet mode:The built-in keyboard does not work anymoreThe touchpad does not work anymoreThe screen is stuck in landscape mode and does not rotate when the laptop is in tent modeThe speakers are stuck with the awful tablet-mode sound qualityWhen I boot to the BIOS, the keyboard works with no issue. However, when the OS boots, it almost instantly switches to the previously described mode. If I spam the keyboard as the laptop boots, it briefly works (I can type 3-4 letters on the log in screen) and then instantly stops working. Things I have already attempted:Looking for an answer onlineRebooting the laptop multiple timesTurning the laptop off and then turning it on againUpdating the drivers (+ reboot)Reinstalling Yoga Mode Control (+ reboot)Opening/closing the lid from its closed state to the tablet state and everything in betweenThings I am reticent to do:Since this is a brand new machine, I do not feel comfortable fiddling with the actual hardware (i.e. opening it to remove a battery to do a hard reset)Suspected source of the issue:I think this has to do with the laptop believing that it's being booted while the hardware is in tablet mode (screen rotated all the way open) although it isn't. I am severely disappointed in how finicky this laptop is for the price...Thank you for any help

Dear Lenovo-Community,my Thinkpad S1 Yoga change into tablet modus not only when I fold back the monitor but also when I have closed the lid normaly and than reopened it or sometimes by slightly moving the monitor or a minor percussion of the table. That is very annoying, because than I have no access to keyboard or touchpad while beeing in the laptop-shape. I can revive keyboard/touchpad by folding back the monitor and than back to the normal laptop shape, but this works only one time! After that I have to send the thinkpad in the energy saving mode and wake it up, to get keyboard/touchpad back.I think it is a problem with the sensor, but does there a software setting exist so keyboard/touchpad keep unlocked in tablet-modus? Or a way to switch off the tablet-modus completely? I can live without the tablet-modus and the thinkpad is probably too old to be worth a great repair. My system is fully updated. Any idea out there?

Regardless of whether I say yes or no, the keyboard and touchpad are disabled. If I rotate the screen around to a "tent" or tablet configuration, the keyboard and touchpad start working. I have installed all updates I could find and tried manually toggling tablet mode but nothing helps. I want to disable tablet mode so the keyboard remains active when I open the screen 360 degrees (I want to use the computer and its on-board keyboard with an external monitor.) I have been to Settings/tablet mode.  I don't see a general toggle to turn it off.   I have set it to always open in desktop mode, and to ask me before switching to tablet.  I always tell it no, but it turns off the keyboard anyway. I know the machine CAN do what I want -- if I open the screen to 360 over and over, once in a while the keyboard stays active for me.  Seems entirely random, though.  Any insight? Thanks!

Hello, I just received a new Yoga 2 13, 8Gb, 256Gb SSD. I have been using it exclusively as a laptop. It worked just fine for a few days. I did notice once the screen flipped sideways and the keyboard turned off randomly but after turning the laptop on its side and back, everything went back to normal. Today, after closing the lid and putting the machine to sleep, then waking it up, it awoke in tablet mode with the sideways screen and turned off keyboard. To do anything I have to use the on-screen keyboard, which does work. Nothing I did could get it to go back to laptop mode, or for autorotate to ever work. Rebooted several times, no. The "Lenovo" signage does show correctly in landscape as soon as the machine turns on, but once it gets to the login window, it's back to sideways tablet mode. The auto-rotate button (which I had never touched prior) doesn't appear to do anything. I click the button, it says "autorotate off" then I click it again to "autorotate on" and still no rotation. I called Lenovo technical support, and he tried (after remote desktoping into my machine) to try a different display driver. The Windows "Basic" Driver, the Intel Driver from March 2014, and the latest Lenovo display drivers downloaded did nothing. He turned off "ycp" or something similar as a startup service, no help. In Screen Resolution, he changed the orientation of the display from portrait to landscape which did fix the orientation problem but did n... I was really pleased with my Yoga 510 at first but it has quickly developed some annoying issues. Most annoying is how utterly usuable it is in tablet mode. Simple things like clicking into a textbox on a web page causes a five second day. Likewise clicking into the address bar or trying to move the cursor to a new position causes the same frustrating delay. Switch off tablet mode and it instantly works perfectly. Switch back to tablet mode and you're back to frustrating delays in everything you try and do. Is there anything you can suggest because i chose the Yoga for its ability to act like a tablet when required.

My organization requires ctrl-alt-del before signing in, and I have noticed there is no way to do so in tablet mode.  The screen also refers to a Windows Security Button, but I don't see any buttons that would fit that description.  I've seen on other threads for other Thinkpads that volume up + power works, but since there's no volume button on the 2nd Gen Yoga, I'm not sure what to do.  Really hoping unlocking won't always require flipping into laptop mode - a minor inconvenience but one I'd like to avoid.

I have just installed a new LCD/digitiser panel for my wife's Yoga 510. On restarting it after the repair, the display works fine, but the machine defaults to Tablet Mode in portrait orientation, and the keyboard and trackpad don't work. I'm able to use the touch screen to restore the correct orientation, but cannot recover the keyboard/trackpad. This occurs whether the machine is in laptop, tent or tablet mode. Rebooting to Safe Mode produces normal behaviour (correct screen orientation, keyboard and trackpad work), so this suggests that there's a driver issue somewhere. After digging around the net a bit I found that disabling "HID Sensor Collection V2" in Device Manager and rebooting fixes this issue, however this is not ideal as the keyboard/trackpad remain active when the screen goes past 180 degrees. It's not a huge issue, as the machine isn't used in tent or tablet modes very much, but it would be nice to have a fix for when it is used like this to avoid unecessary inputs from the keyboard. Disabling this driver also prevents the soft keyboard from initialising. It's also an issue if the driver is updated, as it is then re-enabled and everything goes back to "permanent" Tablet Mode. Does anybody know of an updated driver, or a setting in the driver, to overcome this problem?

We can use the Lenovo Vantage to install the latest Drivers in your laptop. If it's still the same, we can  try installing Energy Manager Driver with Yoga Mode Control and check how it goes. Please update us here with the result.
