HP DESKTOP OMNI ALL IN ONE 1110ea slow to open homepage.

Q: HP DESKTOP OMNI ALL IN ONE 1110ea slow to open homepage.

My HP DESKTOP omni 1110-ea has recentlybecome very slow at OPENING THE HOMEPAGE. It starts Windows quickly enough, present the login icon, opens the desktop FAIRLY quickly, but, as of the last 9 days, is VERY slow to open the homepage: it takes from 3 to 5 minutes, although function is normal when it opens. Can it, as it is a sudden and persistent problem, be solved?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Please I really need your help. I don't know what happened with my desktop HP Omni 100Pc. I can turn it on but when it is about using it it completely crash and freezes.
It has windows 7 home basic 64 bits sp1 . It is an old computer but it was working great.

I'm unable to restore it to previous point because all my restore points where deleting. I was scanning my computer yesterday with norton antivirus and my hp turned off by itself.
If want to check my documents or even open a photograph, my computer crashes.
I used to use auslogic software but as it expired I opted to delete it.
Sometimes when I wanted to download something and the norton block I would turned off the antivirus for a while and turn it off. I rarely use my computer because mostly I do everything on my mobile device but since I started studying I really need and now it is not working. Please help me I don't know what to do and I don't have money to fix it or buy a new one

I hope someone can help - I woke up this morning and my Omni 100-5155 Desktop All in One will not work.  When I press power there is no power on light and the monitor is dark.  I can hear the computer starting up but I never hear the windows sound because it will not play until someone enters the password.  I also do not see the system do the keyboard reconize check etc.   it is just a little over 2 years old  :-(   I have disconnceted and reconnected all the power cords and connections.  I thought about seeing if the BIOS is reconizing the hard drive but of course I will not be able to see anything without a monitor.  I do have the recovery disks also but they won't do much good without a monitor.  I also thought about hooking it up to my television (as a monitor) to see if the system is indeed working but that computer has no monitor port. Thank you for any input!

Upon boot to Windows XP, the OS is very slow and folders on desktop do not open when double clicked. Also, after boot, a windows comes up saying something to the effect of "Dr. Watson Post Mortem Debugger......will now close".
I have run AdAware 6, CWShredder, AboutBuster & Windows CleanUp.
PC is still problematic with above mentioned issues. Although, it looks like the about.blank issue in IE has been resolved.
Here are the results of the HiJackThis analyzer and AboutBuster. HijackThis was run after using AboutBuster and Windows Cleanup. I have not used HiJackThis to remove anything.

Hi and welcome to TSG.

With no knowledge of the system you are using it is very hard to make any realistic assessment. Please provide you exact system specs, either the exact make and model of the PC if its a pre-built system like a HP, Dell or Acer etc. If its a self / custom build what is the exact make and model of the CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, harddrive, Power supply etc. The more info the better.

What operating system are you using and is it 32 or 64 bit?

If you are unsure, please use the TSG System Info utility which can be found in my signature.

Out of the blue today when I opened PSE 11 and then tried to use it to open a file on my Desktop, it went to sleep. Task Manager showed it "not-responding". Rebooting the computer did not help. After a couple of tries, I waited for 2-3 minutes and it then displayed files on the desktop. I switched the location it was searching, which was Desktop to my photo folder, and everything started working normally. Closed and restarted, and it was fine opening files from my Pictures folder. But, when I switched it to Desktop it went to sleep again for 2-3 minutes. At one point it got a message, which I forget exactly, but basically saying it could not find the file it was searching for??
It seems unique to the Desktop location. The Desktop is part of the operating system (Windows 8.1), and on a SSD. The Pictures folder is on my HDDs. Any thoughts on what is going on? I don't recall making any changes to the setup.

Summary of the symptoms:

1. Only is slow with File, Open, or File, Open As, when the location is the Desktop
2. Operating system (8.1) is on a SSD. Normal file folder is on HDD.
3. Same actions when location is Pictures on HDD is normal.
4. Process Explorer does not seem to detect any activity going on during the "sleeping" mode

A:Photoshop Elements 11 Very Slow to Open Files on Desktop

OK, I think I solved it. It turned out to be unrelated to my Windows setup or the recent Windows 8.1 Update 1, but it did force me to clean up my desktop. Now all empty except for the trash can... I use WD My Book Live to back up my hard drives on all computers on my home network. It includes a Cloud storage feature which I do not use. Part of the installation is a link to the service which gets installed on your Desktop by default. WD have been having problems with this Cloud service and have been sending me e-mails, which I never read as I don't use it. Somehow this link got corrupted or pointed to a dead location. That appears to be what was freezing everything up. Interesting that it only appeared to affect Photoshop Elements, and not Open Office, or File Explorer. The cure was to delete the corrupt link.

Thanks for the help provided.

get the current version of HIjack and post it

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I'm an admin of a cyber cafe in my local area. All cient PC's (Windows 8.1 x64) are connected to each other including an Admin PC via wireless wifi. Recently, i change the router settings to hide its SSID. The only wifi available in Windows list are Hidden Wifi. I set and make each of the PC connect to the hidden wifi automatically on startup and it works normally. The only annoying problem, is a homepage MSN is automatically load at default browser whenever the hidden wifi is connected each time computer starts. It's pretty annoying as I need to ensure my client redirected to my desired homepage. I set IE, Chrome and Mozilla to specific website. But eventually each time computer boot, it automatically open a default browser as an MSN homepage. I can assure this annoying problem rises when it connect to hidden network and not occur when connect to normal wifi with SSID. I've searched everywhere on Google but no solution for this. So I'm asking in here instead. How to remove the MSN homepage automatically open at startup even though i set homepage as something else. Is there any way to prevent this?

P/S : And oh yes, don't tell me to check startup items in start shortcut, msconfig etc. I already check them and there are no reason for browser to open automatically at MSN homepage!

Hi everyone, my Firefox browser (33.1) will not open a new tab using my homepage (Google). It opens either blank or with pages Firefox thinks may be of interest to me.... I want to get Firefox to open each tab with only my homepage, nothing else. Is this possible, or am I stuck with it the way it is?

A:Can i get Firefox 33.1 to open to my homepage rather than a blank one?

Here, for example:

New tabs ? mozillaZine Forums

Otherwise, Index page ? mozillaZine Forums , and in the Search/Boards box, enter "home page on tabs" (don't use the quotation marks" for further possible assistance.

Downloaded the latest Windows Live Messenger today, don't know if that is related, but for some reason, today my IE started refusing to open the Google homepage. I can go to other pages in Google, just not their homepage. I do NOT have their finance gizmo on it, either.

Can anyone give me a hint on how to fix this? I can get there easily through Firefox, or any other browser I've got installed.

I have recently sent my comp to get fixed (though the prob was electrical so i don't think that has anything to do with it) but when i got it back, the whole comp was working really slowly and i had Flash asking me to update and RealPlayer to update and Firefox to update. I did update RealPlayer (but immediately uninstalled as made the slowness worse and reinstalled earlier version which worked fine) and Firefox which said that it had an update for the dictionary English (Australian).

OK, so. After doing RealPlayer and ignoring Flash, the slowness got worse, then when i had a few programs going the whole comp froze and kept trying to unfreeze (i think??) because the song i was playing in Real kept replaying the 2 secs it had frozen on but then gradually replayed 3 secs, then 4 secs, but i just restarted the comp and uninstalled and reinstalled Real and everything seemed dandy but then Firefox said it had an update for the dictionary and so i did it, but then it said there was a problem installing the update and so then i said continue and it opened up Firefox, but then i tried to go to a website and the whole Firefox program just diappeared off the screen. I clicked open firefox again and tried a different webpage but the same thing happened. I tried the restore session and start new session options but both ended up with the same prob of disappearing off the screen (presumably closing).

The thing is that the homepage (google) is there when firefox opens but then when... Read more

I have windows xp w/SP2.

So this whole problem started yesterday(4/08/08) when I tried to install a software file I downloaded off the internet. iSofterDVDRipper. My fault. After that I had various pop-ups from Security Windows opening saying Spyware Detected, (Net 32 Worm Booster) something like that, detected, problem installing extra add-ons for some .dll. My wallpaper for my desktop has been replaced with a red screen and a hazard sign in the middle saying "My privacy is in danger" must download protection now, and it made the whole wallpaper a link, My homepage is now Ucleaner.com but since I already have Mcafee, my siteadvisor overides it before it gets to it. On the desktop were Icons "Error Cleaner" and two others but they are not there after I did all your steps. My internet explorer also has 4 new buttons, "Remove Popups""Scan Spyware""Security Test" and "Spam Protection" that take me to spyware protection sites..

After I did the steps you asked of us, especially the last critical updates that seemed to be a charm, my desktop screen is still red with the hazard and the home page is still ucleaner.com. All the pop-ups are now gone, at least after the windows updates, nothing wrong yet, but those are the two issues that I have a problem with still... not sure with the log if anything is just hiding at the moment so I know that still needs to be checked, and last but not least my aol browser doesnt seem... A:Cannot keep Comcast.net homepage open on Internet Explorer 8

To be clear about this, Comcast page opens up, then it goes to another page?
It is set as your homepage? I searched the Comcast help forums, and couldn't find anything there concerning your issue.
This is the first time I've ever seen it.

Did this start AFTER you installed IE8?
If it did, uninstall it, and see if your problem is solved. It's worth a try.

There is also the possibility that your system could be infected.
I'm not malware removal expert-but I can put out a call to those who are.
If they think it is malware, one of them will guide you through the clean-up process.

The IP for Comcast is

Copy the numbers, then paste them in your address bar.
Does that get you to the Comcast home page and have it stay there?

Hello all.
I have a user who has a unique problem. Any webpage shortcut she creates on her desktop, whether to a page on the company intranet, or a webpage take her instead to her homepage.  No idea how long it has been going on.
We have some sharted web apps on our servers that have complicated addresses so I like the users to have shortcuts to them... storing them as favorites works, but I would still like to find a resolution to the issue at hand.
It is an XP Pro machine fully updated. I appreciate your help.

A:Desktop Shortcuts Redirect to Homepage

If its a XP Pro machine I wonder why the mods have moved this thread in here?
Ignore me they still have the link in Win9x/ME.
If every web link saved takes it to instead to her homepage I would do a full Malwarebytes scan if I were you.
