Battery never reaches 100%

Q: Battery never reaches 100%

I just recieved My hp omen 3 days ago and The battery keeps 99% it never reaches 100%. I checked it with HP assisstant and it said that the status is okay? What should I do? I'm sure this is not normal for a 3 days old laptop.

Preferred Solution: Battery never reaches 100%

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, There seems to be a problem with the power management on my T570. I have two batteries, and I think the main one to be used is the battery 2. Sometimes, I'll be working unplugged, and my computer randomly turns off. Not the usual "Windows turning off" sequence, but an immediate blackout with no feedback. When I turn the computer back on, I see that Battery 2 is at 0% and Battery 1 is now in use. It does seem to be a problem in the power management, no? Thank you,Fred

A:My computer turns off immediately when Battery 2 reaches 0%, even if Battery 1 is 100%

Sounds like power management or battery reporting status wrong.  Are you still under warranty? If yes, call support first.  Can you get (borrow) another battery to try?

Hello All,

Recently I have been having trouble with my laptop (Vizio CN15). For some odd reason, whenever my laptop
reaches 100% charge on the battery, its shuts off the display and basically behaves like the computer has shut down. The power light remains on and i can hear the fans running but any attempts to adjust brightness or put the laptop to sleep fail. This started happening out of nowhere, so I am a little confused as to what this is.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you

Hi all, I have an issue with a T480s laptop once battery reaches 100% charge. When the laptop reaches full charge, the display on the T480 will automatically dim and lose ethernet connection momentarily. This can occur either when the computer is docked (ThinkPad USB-C) or connected to the 65Watt travel charger. It does not do this when it is 99% and below, strictly 100% and a few moments after it reaches it. Current work-around is to plug in the laptop charger once its low and disconnect once it hits somewhere in the 90's. If the laptop is docked, and battery is 100%, it will disconnect from LAN and auto-connect to WLAN (it is setup that way). In the case of strictly using the travel charger and working via WLAN, it will disconnect and would lose internet connection entirely. I've done the troubleshooting steps mentioned below and still having the same issues. Troubleshooting:Installed all pending Lenovo & Windows updatesincluded BIOS, ThunderBolt Firmware, Power ManagementModified power settings to not go into sleep mode when plugged into powerRemoved "turn off this adapter to save power" for both LAN and WLAN adaptersCompleted the "battery pin hole reset" from the bottom side of the laptop.Changed source of power Any ideas?

Hello,I recently downloaded the demo of FIFA 17 to evaluate the performance of my laptop. The game works well, does not show any kind of lag or defect, but I noticed that immediately after the start of the game, the laptop becomes louder and the temperature rises.Through a program I noticed that the CPU temperature reaches about 90 ° and how to tip maximum 100 ° C even during the phase of the game, while usually (as I browse, watch movies) runs on 50-60 and maximum 70.My pc mounts an i7 5500U processor @ 2.40GHz, a NVIDIA Geforce 840M and an Intel HD 5500 card and I bought it last year. How can I lower the temperature during the game? Is it bad to play at this temperature?Sorry for my English

my computer starts with initial temp 75C, when starting a game or even a small program in reaches 96 and restarts, I changed the termal material between the CPU and the heatsink and made sure the fan is installed tightly, I thaught of underclocking because its cheeper but it didnt decrease the temp significantly. what solutions are there other than water cooling?
these are my computer's specs:

Intel original motherboard 915gux

A:CPU temp reaches 96C and restarts PC

You definitely should not require water cooling on that Pentium. What are the ambient temperatures like? I think that the thermal compund may have not been applied correctly or the contact between HSF and CPU is not sufficient. I hope you did not apply too much TIM. Sometimes that acts as an insulator resulting in very high temps. Remove the HSF and clean off all the residual TIM from it and the CPU. Ensure that nothing falls into the mobo as it could cause a short. Then re-apply the thermal compund and re-assemble it. If it still doesn't help, look to getting a better aftermarket HSF.

Hi, I have been lurking here for awhile and usually I can find the problem I'm looking for just doing a search but with this I can't.

I have a Dell-Latitude D600 with Windows XP (Service Pack 3). If it matters, my computer charges and mainly is stationed on a docking station due to the computer being unable to charge via a standard charger. However, that really doesn't have much to do with the issue but I figure the more info given the better.

While watching a video online (in Dailymotion, Megavideo, Wisevid, Ustream, Justintv etc.) the video plays fine for 5-10 where the video starts to freeze. For whatever reason, this issue never occurs in youtube. New frames will be shown every 30 seconds (very choppy) or so and the audio continues perfectly. Also, my keyboard and mouse are hooked up via the docking station in a USB port and I notice they either stop working during this time or become very choppy and inefficient. Also, a few times I took it off the docking station and the video started playing fine for a few minutes before it did the same thing again.

I noticed watching the task manager that the computer spikes up in CPU very high when watching the video. Then when you pause the video, the CPU dramatically dips down. It usually starts in the 80-90% range before it slowly creeps up to 100%. I have tried running video without any applications open and it doesn't do the trick. As it gets closer to being at 100%, that is when the freezes mostly occurs.

I have taken a few... Read more

Yo! Guys what's up?
My dad has a big problem recently, and is with his HP Pavilion DV6 -1280us.
Its AMD Turion X2 ZM-87 @ 2.4 GHz is Overheating, and reaching mid 80?C temperatures.

I've checked this with Speccy.

Eventually the computer either freezes or Shuts Down (No BSD yet, AFAIK)

Motherboard seems to also get a temperature increase.

The computer was recently cleaned, since it was thought that the vent had been blocking the air flow.

I've tried putting the PC to Power Saver, but nothing.

A:Laptop CPU Overheat. Reaches Beyond 80°C

Wait... I've found the CPU usage is around 90%. I've just killed WD Management engine, which was using 64 - 70%.

I thought, that it was need of thermal paste (which I don't know if the guy who the computer was sent to applied it or not).

I'll post back if that was the main problem.
Edit: Seems I've sorted out the problem. It seems that the WD was the main cause of the Processor Overheat.

Now the CPU has dropped to 55?C which is the normal temperature for the laptop.

Anyways, thanks for the help

My friends pc keeps on restarting on its own.

It heads to the XP loading screen then reboots back to black screen/white txt offering Start Windows Normally or Safe Mode etc.

When any option is chosen it again goes to load and again restarts just after hitting the XP loading screen.

We cannot get anywhere near safe mode or any other option - the only thing I can think of is a rebuild but this will mean a loss of all their data.

Any advice please? Thanks.

Hello Kind and knowledgable folk,

I've had this irritating problem with my background for quite a while. It won't fill the screen completely. I've tried everything!!! I've noticed that when I change the res to a lower one (I'm currently using the full 1680*1050) and then reset it back - it goes back to normal - with the wallpaper completely filling up the screen - just like it used to back in the day but as soon I shutdown and start a new session - the position of the pics goes all funny again.

At first I thought it had something to do with the hi-res wallpapers but I set a doodle my little sister done on paint as the background and it still has the same issues. I wouldn't mind using a lower resolution but i'm my monitor is a 20 inch widescreen and anything lower than full res looks blurry and out of proportion. I would really appreciate it if anyone had any idea how to sort this out.

Development of new features has officially frozen today

Windows 10 is set to be unveiled on July 29, but Microsoft hasn?t provided us with other details regarding the current milestones scheduled for the new operating system, but according to rumors swirling around the web during the weekend, Windows 10 officially enters RTM Escrow today.

This means that, starting today, Microsoft is no longer working on new features and their development has frozen, with the whole team now focusing on bug hunting and improving performance before the official launch in late July.

Russian leaker WZor says that Microsoft is also opening a new branch called winmain_rtm, but once again, we should take all of these with a pinch of salt because there?s still no confirmation that Windows 10 has reached such an important development phase today.

And yet, it does make sense for RTM Escrow to happen today, as Microsoft?s Gabriel Aul, who is also the head of the Windows Insider program, already announced earlier this month that the focus would be switched on bug fixing and performance improvements instead of new features, and given the fact that we?re only one month and a half away from the launch, this thing becomes a priority.

So I've got this problem where while moving/copying or sometimes deleting a file (it doesn't matter where I move/copy it), when the progress window opens up, the CPU for Windows Explorer reaches 100% or close to 100%. After some investigating with Sysinternals Process Manager, I found that the same threads inside the Windows Explorer process were the ones hogging the CPU:

Usually I have to kill each of the ntdll.dll threads and cancel moving/copying the file to get the computer to become responsive once again. But as soon as I attempt to move/copy another file again, the same thing occurs.
I have tried a few different things, such as turning off the User Account Control, running scans for viruses or spyware and the like, as well as trying other files and folders. Nothing has worked so far.

My CPU is an AMD Phenom X4 9750 with 2.40GHz.
I also have 4GB of RAM and am using Windows Vista Home Premium.

Any ideas?

Dear all,

About 10 days ago I got infected by a trojan in the form of rootkit that I could only solve by running rootkitunhooker. Ever since the infection, my screen has been doing funny things (usually, at startup, but it can happen in any moment, although it is less likely), that from now on I will call "corruption". This corruptions shows itself as characters showing wrong (one pixel is missing or misplaced, or different colour), stripes, or black or blue screen (see picture).

Here I give the results of my own troubleshooting:
- I think the screen as hardware is right, as the "corruption" goes hand-in-hand with a crash. The whole systems stops (even I can hear the HD shutting down).

- One problem is that I was updating several drivers and the BIOS (I KNOW, shouldn't have, but I know now). And this is what worries the most, the corruption can happen even before loading Windows, or when I load with Knoppix, or even in the recovery console, even the BIOS !!!! The Diagnostics tool of the BIOS who scans the system and the memory says everything is right (even when the corruption was there!). I upoated the BIOS as the window troubleshooter asks if your bios is updated...

EVen I have a video in which the screen has some vertical stripes, and when the mouse pointer goes through, the points of the stripes get "cleaned".

- I have thought that it might have something to do with a loose connection, but due to problems in the screws (worn-off t... Read more

Hello guys,
I just got home from a LAN with some friends, and when I tried to start up my PC, it just kept shutting off. It was working perfectly fine at the LAN, and at home before I went there, so something must have happened along the way?

Basically I get to the "press F2 to enter bios" stage where I see that the cpu is at 80c or so, and rising very very quickly, once it reaches 100c it just shuts off, and I can hear it buzzing now and then as if it is trying to boot up.

I've opened my PC up, and the fan is spinning as it should, I also dusted it just in case.
Could something be stuck between the fan and the CPU?

Anyways, I'm running Windows Vista.

Any input is greatly appreciated

SO just received my new Gigabyte X38-DQ6, laid everything out (just like every other MB install), pulled out the old / put in the new, installed the new INTEL core2 duo 2.4 (using stock CPU Fan for now), installed the new OCX (MB Compliant) MEM (2 one gig chips), installed the ATI Radeon 850 PCI Express card and connected up the new 650W Thermaltake Powersupply. Connected Keyboard and MB and after flipping the switch the Motherboard and fans start.
SO the CPU Fan spins for about 4-5 seconds and stops, I get no beeps (indicating what might be wrong), no video and since I don't have a classic keyboard I'm not able to see if any of the lights are coming on.

ANYONE with any ideas, please share... I've reseated the CPU Fan, MB and removed all peripherals and even stepped back to a single Gig Mem Chip and same results. After holding the power button I get the MB to shut off. Upon trying to power up again the MB responds exactly the same except it powers itself off about 3 seconds after the CPU Fan stops.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Reaches RTM

Microsoft has completed development of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, with the official release to take place as planned on October 17.

The company today shipped Windows 10 build 16299.15 to insiders in the Fast ring, and according to reports, this is the RTM build of the Fall Creators Update that everyone will get later this month.

The only difference is that Microsoft will continue to service (to improve) this particular build with more cumulative updates, and this means that insiders will be provided with several patches in the coming days until October 17.

Microsoft has promised to confirm when the RTM build is compiled, so an announcement in this regard is expected anytime soon, especially because the company is also likely to start pushing smaller patches to devices enrolled in the Insider program in the next few days.

No word on the mobile release just yet
For the time being, no stand-alone ISOs are available for insiders, but once the very same build is released to the Slow ring, such media should also be released for those who want to perform a clean install. Additionally, this build should also make it to the Release Preview ring in the coming weeks.

Of course, whoever wants to clean-install build 16299.15 can build their own ISO, though this requires additional steps. Learn here how to build your own Windows 10 ISO.

Now that Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is close to getting the final go-ahead, insiders in... Read more

Why would it freeze when it reaches wmm2res.dll ? I researched this .dll and it looks like it is just a a component from the software Windows Movie Maker. How can I fix this? I'm guessing maybe I've got some registry issues I need to fix?

Hi and welcome to TSG,

Please do this. Click here to download HijackThis.

Close all open windows and open HijackThis. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished, the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and then save it to Notepad. Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed.

Good Morning Experts! While watching online videos my laptop will reach 149 degrees and the louder fans kick in. All other times it operates at normal operating temperature. Thank you!

A:Laptop reaches 149 degrees while watching online video

That is likely the most demanding thing you do and maybe the only thing that kicks in the switchable graphics. On big strong laptops like yours it is often necessary after a few years to open it up and clean out around the cooling fan, reseat the processor and apply new thermal compound. 149 degrees fahrenheit is 65 Celsius, which is not excessive. That fan is there to keep it cool and it can be loud but it is normal during gaming or demanding tasks.  #HPEXPERTDAY

I've been unable to access windows due to the system restarting itself before it reaches the login screen. Here is a rundown of the problem (and where it may have started) from the beginning (I apologize if this message is quite long but I will try to be as detailed as possible so as to avoid wasting anyone?s time asking questions that I can provide info for right away):

To begin, I'm running fully updated Windows XP Professional (no other operating systems) along with up to date McAfee anti-virus software. Up to this point I haven't been having any issues/problems or suspicious behavior with my system and haven't had any for a long time. Nor have I at any point agreed to install anything suspicious from the internet (i.e. pop-ups warning me of viruses on my computer and recommending that I install such and such program, etc.).

Last night I shut down my system, opting to let Windows install some system updates and shut down on its own when it was done, as is often the case. I turned on my PC this morning, logged in, and Windows proceeded to load normally.

Less than a minute after the desktop loaded a window proclaiming to be Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool popped up and informed me that it had found several threats on my system (I knew that it was the name of a real Microsoft program and it looked pretty legitimate and I assumed that it was probably something Windows had just recently installed the night before as an update for safety rea... Recently my computer has decided it wants to freeze whenever it reaches the desktop and loads the sound icon in the taskbar! This is a highly irritating problem that has only occurred this week and getting past it on occassion has been pure luck! Although now my luck seems to have ran out as I can only start up computer in safe mode which is no good cause I have an assignment due in this Friday (tomorrow!!) that requires the use of Visual Studio!

Before, when I got lucky and several attempts of restarting, it seemed to only get past the sound icon when more of other icons in the taskbar had loaded up. At first, after a few minutes of frozenness, it was giving me an error message about a piece of software to do with my USB Hi-Fi (which when I did manage to get on the PC I uninstalled it) but that didn't solve the problem at all, I also reinstalled the driver and this solved nothing!

I've also got some stupid bug involving a Window Update that won't install (KB9----- - I would find out but my stupid PC won't start up so I can't!). The Windows updater quite happily makes one believe that the update's been installed until the icon appears again asking you to install the same update! Of course, whenever I went to shutdown my PC and 'install updates' it would take 10minutes to do nothing! Wonder if the 'update' has corrupted something important and cause the startup problem too...

I've tried a windows memory diagnostics... Read more

I have a Compaq Presario PC with two operating systems: Xp and Win 7. The sound had been working fine in both operating systems up until recently when i experience zero sound from the PC. However, on Win 7 there is a beep that is perfectly audible when i slide the volume bar to maximum. I have done a couple of re-installations and double checked my audio configurations but nothing seems to be indicative of an issue. I am using an external audio device since the internal audio is non-functional. When i change the external device's PCI slot, i.e put it in another slot, it works fine then goes back to the zero audio state when computer is turned off or on standby. The drivers seem ok. Please help if you are in a position to. Thanks buddies

A:Volume beeps when it reaches maximum but no audio sound on PC, Win 7

to start out with something simple; sometimes completely uninstalling the device from device manager; rebooting; and then letting windows hopefully re-detect it and reinstall the drivers etc will solve the issue. Also; once you do that i would check for any driver updates which may put a permanent fix to it.

Hello! I have a desktop computer and several days ago my old 500W power supply burnt out (from overheating I suppose) while the computer was on. I replaced it with a new one, 750W, but when I turned it on everything was working properly except for the fact that no USB devices were recognized. I have 2 USB 2.0 front ports and four rear ones. Power reaches all of them, since LEDs on devices connected light up, but OS does not indicate any devices being connected. I tried switching off the PC from the mains, pressing and holding the power button, even removed the battery on the motherboard and reset the BIOS settings. Nothing changed. I have a dual-boot PC with Windows 7 and Gentoo Linux. Neither of the two operating systems give any errors concerning the USB ports and neither recognizes anything plugged in. My PC is:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.33 GHz
HDD: Samsung HD403LJ ATA 400 GB
I don't have a USB keyboard nor a mouse to try and see if they work during BIOS boot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A:Solved: Power reaches USB ports, but no devices are recognized.

Hi, i followed Microsoft's advice to run Disk Clean-Up on one of the server because it left with 11% of free disk space. Never thought of C: drive suddenly shows low disk space (left with 2%) available after I checked on the option to delete 'Compressed Old Files'.

Is anyone knows what happended? Many articles and forums, said is safe to delete the Compressed Old Files. What can I do now? There are still few servers which have low disk space issue?

Any comment is welcome. Thanks in advance.
