Is there a design problem in X250? or others

Q: Is there a design problem in X250? or others

There is a design problem on the ThinkPad x250. Touch the back of the screen when there is an image with many colors on the screen. You will see that the screen is moving. As you open and close the computer's cover, the screen is whitening due to this design error. Especially in the middle. Due to this problem, they changed the screen under warranty.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had a x250 for a year and recently has developed an issue where the screen will display black/purple/green blocks(Look at pictures for reference) and I'll be forced to force shutdown my laptop and power it up again to resolve the issue. Could someone please enlighten me on the cause!

Hi all. I've seen this issue posted about many times before and can't get a hold of lenovo. When I try to use the "contact us - email" page the link doesn't work!  I have a x250 I purchased in 2015. It has been working great until recently. I usually use the trackpoint and have the touchpad disabled. Recently it just stops working and the only way I can get the mouse to function again is by using an external standard mouse. When I go to mouse settings it doesn't even recognize that I have a touchpad/trackpoint, even after installing updated ULTRANAV drivers. This also extends to the keyboard, some days the keyboard will not work at all. The only thing I can do is restart 100 times and cross my fingers it works one time. I've tried moving the mouse at the login screen, pressing firmly on the touchpad, etc. Nothing works aside from the off chance it cooperates after restarting. So, I have updated drivers numerous times for windows 10 and yet my trackpoint/touchpad still seem to rarely work. I am out of a warranty on this so I'm not sure what to do. My boyfriend is suggesting a factory reset, does anyone think that will work or have any other ideas? Thanks.

Hey hey. Yeah, so I just finished off my new website, decided I would embed some sound in it for s**ts and giggles. I chose vivaldi's concerto for strings in G minor because it fits with the fantasy style of the site(its for my WO guild).

It took me ages to figure out how to embed the sound so it would work on both IE and NSN so I settled on JAVAscript and it works fine, the problem is its a WAV file, which has turned my tiny little music file into an 18Mb monster! Its so big its making the page impossible to view online because it takes so long to load(im using my ISPs free server so the BW aint huge). Now MP3 is supported in IE 6 but is there a plugin for NSN 7.1 that will let it play MP3s? I mean play as in, there are no controls on the page, the file plays auto when you enter, controls are hidden and loop is set to infinite, but NSN doesnt have MP3 support.

I tried experimenting with MIDIs but it just confused the hell outa me trying to turn my WAV or MP3 files into them.

Basically Im asking for one of 2 things: Does anyone know of a plugin for NSN that will let it play MP3s, or, does anyone know a free, easy to use WAV/MP3 to MIDI file convertor, that isnt going to spew stuff about compiling and tone generators at me. Thanks

edit: wow thanks mods, move my topic to a forum where there are 5 threads and noone has posted for days. If I had wanted to be ignored I would have tried asking in yahoo chat again.

My extremely simple website doesn't work in firefox. It pops up as html code on screen instead of the formatting it ought to be.
Furthermore, when I view source with IE the code looks good, but when I view it with FF it looks like gibberish.
Now, my knowledge level is pretty low, so according to me the code looks just fine. Either I don't know enough to see the problem, I'm just being lazy, or something mysterious is going on with firefox.

code resides at: http://raptor.slc.edu/~jmccharen/jenny/index1.html

I would appreciate any help.

i don't think this is the right place to post, but i couldn't find anything about video support, but this thread suggested multimedia, and mpgs and wmv fit into that category... if its in the wrong place could a mod move it to the appropriate location?

so here's my 1st problem

i have some mpg files that don't play properly(all mpg1 codecs) however others do of the same format/codec i figured that maybe some frames were corrupt/missing.

so here's the low down
windows media player - reports correct time stamp, but stops when it hits the effected area of the file
winamp - reports wrong timestamp(about 300mins), and stops at the same time
VLC - reports wrong timestamp(till the crash, 50seconds) and stops playing at 50 seconds
media player classic - reports right timestamp, and plays all the way through

this is a bit strange, cause a few years ago the file worked(on win2k, but after a while it stopped like a year after format) and under my new winxp install it never worked

so maybe its something Microsoft done? like update or something?
so im thinking where can i find an old codec, but since MPC doesn't seem to have any built into the install pack anywhere, im wondering what do do.

the second one is related to wmv files

again, its not every file. just the ones that seem to have a higher FPS and/or resolution

in every player except media player classic, the video hangs or is jerky(or doesn't do anything). in MPC everything is gravy... btw only some WMV3... Read more

Hi All,I'd be pretty happy with yoga 3 pro if not one serious problem. It is very easy to break near it's power socket. Look at the photo. When you have it charging it is extremely easy to touch something with a power cord. Its long plug provides a lever, breaking its (metallic!) top keyboard surface doesn't require any force at all. In fact you don't notice it. If you place it on a table you should be careful not to let some book or even a thick pen to be put under a plug, otherwise it breaks the keyboard too. I broke it some time ago, lenovo service center took about 100 euro to fix it replacing the whole keyboard. And that very moment it was clear that breaking it again is virtually inevitable. You just can't think about this plug all the time. And indeed 6 months after it is broken again :-( I think for a device like this a magnetic charging plug is a necessity.

Ok looking for a good answer here. Is it possible to isolate 1 PC that connects to a buisness network via VPN through a router from 3 other lap tops on a LAN by using another router. My idea was this...

1st Router with 4 ports has DHCP enabled to a hub and 2 of the PC's the other PC to the hub. Then the PC that needs isolating goes to a second router that has the first router as its gateway.

How does this sound to all? Any good sugestion would be great.

I am too facing the same issue of the hinge on my inspiron 5547 when i checked with the dell team they say  its not covered under my warranty.
When i further analysed the issue the problem is as follows
1. The hinges are strong made of steel  but the base which fixes them to the front panel are plastics.
2.The nuts are moulded into plastic and fixed with screws which makes them break after our normal day to day usage.
3.I assume this has been overseen in the design review .
Can any one please advise how you got this fixed ?

Hi there,

I am attempting to export a table from Access 2000 to a .txt file, which will then be merged into Adobe InDesign CS2. I am following the instructions from InDesign to accomplish this merge, which requires that the file be in a .txt or .csv format.

I am trying to keep my list from the table in Access 2000 in alphabetical order, which is how the design of the table is saved. When I export the table to .txt format, it un-alphabetizes the list. When I select "Save Formatted" during the export process, I end up with a .txt file in a code that InDesign will not accept in the merge.

I have tried exporting the table to Excel and then to a .txt file, but InDesign will not let me merge the files that are created that way.

Any ideas about what I can do, short of exporting the table anyway, and then seeing how well I can manually cut, paste, and alphabetize the fields?

Thanks!

Stacie

Hi, I just bought a X250 today. I received it with Windows 7 Pro, and the first thing I did was upgrade it to Windows 10. After an hour of use, I noticed that the battery was draining really fast. I clicked in the battery icon on the system tray and noticed that it says: Battery 1: This battery is not available for useBattery 2: 40% (or whatever) I opened Device Manager and I see two devices listed under the "batteries" section, both of them called "Battery with Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method" (translating from Spanish, which is my system language, so it might not be exactly like this). I guess this means that the system indeed detects that there are two batteries, so it looks like a software problem. I right clicked on both of them and selected "uninstall", and then went to action > look for hardware changes, so that should refresh the driver. After doing that, the "battery 1: this battery is not available" message still appears. I also noticed that there was a power manager application from Lenovo which is not compatible with Windows 10. After upgrading, Windows notified me that this app had been removed and I don't see a W10 equivalent on the support downloads section of the Lenovo website. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Pau

A:X250 Battery 1 "is not available for use"

I also tried unplugging the second battery (the removable one). Immediately after unplugging it, the computer shuts down. If I turn it on without the second battery and plugged into the wall outlet, the icon in the lower right corner (system tray) says "no battery found"; however, on device manager I still can see one battery appearing. If I click on "properties" in device manager, it says that the device is working correctly, and there is no sign of any error log or crash report inside the battery properties in device manager.  I tried updating the BIOS and resetting BIOS to defaults, and it makes no difference. I also tried running Ubuntu from a USB stick ("try" option) and it only detects the second battery, not the integrated one.  I guess it must be a hardware problem.

Good morning everyone. I installed on my x250 (using a free WWAN slot) M.2 SSD disk - ADATA Premier SP600 256GB M.2 SSD. First installation: April 2016. The disk worked great. After a "BIG windows10 update" the drive began to freeze and died on August 2016. The drive was replaced with a new one. On March 2017 the problem returned (in the new disk) - again began to freeze and died. From here my question arises - did I make a mistake somewhere? Do dear forumers who did similar installations on their x250 have similar problems? What can I do to prevent the problem on the third drive? During installation I did not mix anything in BIOS etc - just "plug ang play". I would be very grateful for your help.

Hello guys I recently bought a second hand X250 with an Intel 240gb SSD installed and I am planning to install also an M.2 SSD to install Linux.I have already installed Linux in another partition in the Intel, but in general I am not a big fan of grub and also I don't like the restriction of maximum 4 primary partitions per disk. I would prefer to keep the Windows drive 100% clean of any Linux staff. So, I'm planning to install my Linux in the M.2 drive (I have already cleaned my system disk of the Linux staff, grub etc) and I was wondering if choosing the boot up device from the bios is going to be an option, without grub or other boot loaders. I just want to leave the Intel as default boot device and when I want to boot up in Linux, I will choose to boot from the M.2 SSD.Will such a setup work in my Thinkpad? As far as the M.2 drive itself, a 120 gb is more than enough and I am planning to go for an ADATA. I have read a lot of negative reviews about the Transcend M.2s and I don't trust "random" manufacturers, like ZTC or KingDian. Is there any better option for me? Thank you very much for your time. I recently bought an X250, and immediately upon using it, found that the spacebar is not as responsive as all the older thinkpads I've had in the past. Specifically, when I type I press on the right side of the spacebar to create a space, but my usual amount of force is no longer responded to by the keyboard. If I push harder, it will respond, but that's annoying because it slows down my typing speed. If I press on the middle of the spacebar it works much better, and if I press it with my left thumb it works better, too. Does that mean I'm typing wrong all these years, or did I end up with a bad key?  I have depot service, so would Lenovo address this if I send it in? If I send this in, do I need to remove all the data on the machine? Would they replace the spacebar or the entire keyboard as I saw somewhere? How long would it take? Gotta say that the keyboard is much worse than the X230 that I am coming from. Thanks for any heads up!

I hoped these would be fixed by updates, but regardless of the driver, they are still there. To add insult to injury, the ports on the left hand side of the laptop do not line up with the casing. The USB port can be used, but the Display Port is seriously rubbing. The VGA connector is unusable. I'd hoped I'd have the laptop a week before I started a new job, and now it looks like I will be a week later. Does anyone know how I best approach Lenovo for a replacement under the Sale of Goods Act? I really don't want it to be repaired - this is a bad machine.

Sorry to hear about the issues with your new X250. That must be very frustrating. According to Lenovo, returns should be easy providing you do it within 14 days.

Hi guys, I'm using a X250 for work, for almost a year, nothing to complain, moreover after performing a level 0 swap to linux (Fedora 23) , everithing working (keyboard backlight included, all ports, everithing) no flaws......until..... I nead to catch some signals from a vibrometer and other instruments RS-232, serial 9pins (I'm a mechanical engineer, I really need to do that stuff anyway).I have an old serial/pci express card and I wonder if anyone have done this before, I mean trying to give X250 express card (32mm) capability.  I've browsed into the available docking stations for X250 and there're nothing like serial or express card compliant.   Please help me dodging the plan B (which is a BORING log of a huge dose of hand writen vibration data)Regards,Pedro

A:is it possible to get x250 expresscard capable?

I assume you mean 34mm.  There are USB ExpressCard readers and USB serial ports.  Having said that, I think there is a good chance some may not do what you want.  When you start talking about hardware devices that need serial ports, those are often devices that have their own drivers and legacy communication software.  My experience has been that those drivers usually require that the serial port be configured as Com1, 2, 3 or 4 using the legacy addresses that date back to the 1980's.  Those devices need to have something like a 16550 UART in order to map to the legacy addresses that were used for Com ports on the earliest PCs.  All the USB devices I have seen map to virtual ports that cannot be used for the legacy addresses.  There are cards that have 16550-compatible UARTS but they tend to be harder to find and more expensive.  If you need legacy addresses, I would guess that a USB serial port would have no hope of success.  A USB express card would probably work with a 16550-compatible serial card.  I say that because I use such a card in my W540 for a chip reader and the express card slot in the machine is mounted as a USB device.  If I were looking, I would try something like this:

Hi, I have an X250 with Windows 10. Recently my touchpad button got mechanically stuck, so I removed the touchpad, fiddled with the button until it would release when pressed, and I put everything back together. Unfortunately now the touchpad is not working as before. These are the symptoms: 1. Touchpad often freezes for several minutes, though I can use a USB mouse without any problems. It seems it freezes when CPU is hight, or if I click too many times the touchpad, or make too many gestures. For example if I try to move the cursor in circles, the touchpad freezes, along with the buttons and tracker. 2. Sometimes when I press left click, I get the scroll cursor as if I pressed the  middle button.  Was anyone confronted with this problem? My suspicion is that I might not have plugged in the connector cable properly. I have struggled to put the cable back in the touchpad but I didn't want to break it. Any ideas how to push that cable in the touchpad, or how I can know if it's properly connected? Thanks.

So I got a great deal on a slighlty used X250, but after using it for a bit realized it did not come with the backlit keyboard.  My spacebar does not have the little light symbol on it and obviously FN + Space Bar does nothing.  My impression was that the X250 backlit keyboard came standard on all X250's regardless of configuration.  Any ideas?

A:X250 without Backlit keyboard?

Hi and welcome, GunnderIf you purchased laptop in the Lenovo Canada on-line store or similar, backlight keyboard should be an only one option for x250. I don't see another options, in any case.Models with fixed configuration (i.e.not CTO) might have different type of keyboards, depending on the laptop model.

Hi All, I have Sierra EM7445 WWAN card and have X250 machine, while seraching the net about how can I use this card on my machine, I found and article on Zukato.com (HERE) about using this wwan card on x250 after changing the vendor and product id's. But author has not mentioned it clearly that How can a layman change the id's. Can anyone here explain about how can I do that ? Thanks in advance ! MK

A:Using Sierra EM7445 on X250

I?m still using a previous generation Lenovo laptop, X240. It includes an m.2 slot for WWAN devices. All WWAN devices are currently using USB interface, and none are using PCI-E, so only USB connectors are required to function in laptop?s m.2 slot. USB version in X240 and X250 is 2.0 only. And Sierra Wireless EM7445 supports USB 3.0 already, so even if the device is capable of receiving LTE data very fast, using carrier aggregation, there still can be a real bottleneck in data throughput, because the device will need to fallback to the older USB 2.0 protocol when coupled with a previous generation laptop, like X240 or X250.Also every time I turn my laptop on or wake up it from sleep, I?m getting a Windows notification ?This device can perform faster. Please connect it to a USB 3.0 port?. Lto 6 tapes
