I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,I am using both a T530 and a W530 and also have a Thinkpad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (the one with eSATA port). I would like to use both ThinkPads with the same docking station (of course not both at the same time ) and therefore have a 170W power supply (from the W530) connected to it. The problem is that the T530 does not recognize the 170W power supply and is running on battery only without having the docking station ports enabled. Its working fine though if I change to the original 135W power supply of the T530, but this one does not work with the W530. From my point of view a higher wattage should not be a problem, does anyone know why the 170W power supply does not work with the T530?

Hello, I am happy with my T520 - i7 Quad core andI would like to buy a docking station for home. I am going to connect only one monitor to this dock. I understand the differencies between 4337 and 4338 models, but actually I use 4337 dock with two monitors and 90 W adapter from one year and I have no problems. After readigng ThinkWiki and some posts I understand that I have to use 4338 model. Unless it is working I am okay, but I am confused about the preformance. Do you guys think that there may be issues with performance  doe to the lower than recommended power supplying. Thank you!

I recently purchased a Lenovo Ideacentre 700 series desktop computer from Best Buy.  Though the performance seems to be okay, I've found one 'feature' that is extremely frustrating...the motherboard has a proprietary PSU connector.  The 725W aftermarket PSU I purchased can't be installed because the Lenovo motherboard has a 10+4 pin connector for the PSU whereas the aftermarket PSU has a 'standard' 20+4 pin connector. Since Lenovo advertises this as an "Easy to Upgrade Powerhouse", do they sell an adapter to use aftermarket PSUs?!  If not, is anyone aware of an aftermarket solution that I can purchase?  I would think that enough people have encountered this issue that someone would offer a plug-and-play adapter cable. I've already reviewed the following post on this forum, but it primarily desribes a solution that involves cutting wires and using a paperclip as a jumper.  It also mentions a 24-to-10 pin ATX adapter cable at a site called Moddiy, but a later post says that this adapter unfortunately doesn't work.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-E-H-K-M-Q-Y-and-ErazerX/IdeaCentre-700-10-Pin-Atx-Connector/td-p... Is anyone aware of an adpater that will work? Thanks in advance.

When I dock the computer and press the power button on the dock it doesn't recognize my monitor as the main screen. I have to hit a key (Windows 10) and put in my password hoping that it's doing that and then the screen comes up. If I reboot after that ... THEN.... it recognizes my screen as the main monitor. How do I fix this? The only time this happens is when I use it off the dock and then put it back on. If it stays on the dock all the time it does just fine. Any fixes for this? Thanks...

Mock me if you like, , but...  Figured I would share, so others might benefit? There are a few flavours of AC Power issue out there (some bad 170W Power Supplies, some Lenovo Battery Manager issues, etc.), but if you are greeted with the warning on your W520, and are using a true 170W Power Supply, stop and check the Power Supply plug connection IN to the dock. I know sounds ridiculous, but...  First, given the slotted construction of the 170W Power Supply connector, NEVER force anything!  But, once you've lined that up, are sure and slid it in to the dock, at that point, make SURE that it's really fully seated in to the connector!  PUSH it to ensure! I've been having the issue, and finally realized, on my setup, there is an extra "hump" you have to push the connector past. (How long have I had this machine?  FACEPALM!)  If you plug it in, it will work, but give errors and be problematic on charging.  Once you FULLY plug it in, that problem goes away. I think it's a function of the middle pin not being fully and properly seated - so a test was failing (making it think it was a 90W supply?). And a PS for folks: The original dock for the W520 was the "4338-30U (eSATA)", 170W. I can report that the "4338-35U (USB 3.0)", 170W DOES in fact work with the W520. Sadly (as I expected), no, you don't get another USB 3.0 port on the back of the dock.  It de-rates to a USB 2.0 port, but that port does work -... Hello, I'm confused about dock stations for Dual Core / Quad Core modifications of T520. After some reading, including some posts on this forum, I assumed that the only difference is that Quad Core models require 170W power supply, and otherwise the dock stations are the same. However, I still see on ebay here and there: "T520: Dual Core models only" even for docs with 170W power supply, e.g.: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Thinkpad-4338-35U-0B56231-04W3586-Mini-Dock-Plus-Series-3-USB3-0-w-17... Could anyone please clarify? Dear all I am using a switched power connector strip for my PC environment devices (monitor, powered speakers, and the like) which is switched by a usb cable plugged into the PC. If the PC is off, there is no power on the usb port, so the connectors are all off which saves some electricity. Up to now I used a Lenovo basic usb 3.0 dock, where this worked flawlessly. Once the pc was switched off the USB power on the dock (at least at some usb sockets) went out. So I could switch the connector strip. I recently bought a OneLink Pro dock (in the meantime, and after a series of annoying problems, everything is up-to-date: Windows 10 drivers, dock firmware, Thinkpad BIOS). But there is one problem left. I first connected the dock to the Thinkpad, with the monitor attached and tried which usb ports would switch off power when the Thinkpad was off. When the PC was shut off only the one usb socket at the front (the one which is not labelled "always on") went off.  All others stayed on. Now it seems that out of a sudden /all/ ports stay on if the Thinkpad is off (completely off, not standby), also the one which was switched in the beginning. Only if the thinkpad is switched on, the usb power goes off for half a second or so and then is switched on again.  This is not what I want; I do not need all usb ports to be "always on", but only the one designed to be at the front of the dock. Is there a way to get the dock's u... Hello, My company recently purchased a dual 4k setup for a work station. The setup is the following:2 ThinkVision P27 monitorsLenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 DockT570 (Type: 20HA) I setup the monitors and docking station yesterday and was able to power the displays using a X1 Carbon 5th gen (i5 model type: 20HQ) thru USB-C without issue. I have a user testing out the desk now with a T570. I'm able to get one monitor to funtion at 4K and the other is running at 1080p. If you check display settings I'm unable to increase the resolution to 4K. I've updated all drivers on the T570 including the display driver and thunderbolt docking station driver this morning and the system still fails to power dual 4K. I brought back the X1 I used previously and it powers the screens normally. I checked the specs of the T570 and its identical to the X1 as far as processor is concerned and the model page claims the USB-C port on the T570 can power dual 4K. What else can I try?

This is my first post on the community and im having trouble upgrading my power supply. I recently purchased an EVGA 400w psu with a standard 20+4 pin atx connector. The lenovo board only supports a 14 pin connection with a 4 pin cpu so i also purchased a 20 to 14 pin adapter for it but have not had any luck getting the computer to boot with the new power supply. i know the problem lies with the connection to the motherboard because it booted properly with the original psu. So my question is: what adjustments need to be made in order to get the proper connection from the power supply, to the adapter, to the board?

Hi everyone, I need some suggestion with my problem. I am facing this problem from nearly a month. The problem is that sometime my laptop does not charge the battery even if it is pluged in. During those time i can only use my laptop untill my battery charge lasts. Which is normally 2 to 4 hour depending on the nature of the work. The only solution to fix this problem is to remove the battery and replacing it and hope for the best. Sometimes just one time doing this solves the problem and battery starts to charge again. However, sometime the process (bettery removal and reattachment) have to be done 5 to 6 time to do the trick. Please also note that if i remove the battery and directly connect the charger there is no problem and i can work. But here we face very frequent power cut so this process is not very benificial.  I believe something is loose in the battery compartment and thats why the bettery does not charge sometime and does sometime. Please let me know what i can do to fix the problem. The laptop is under warrenty but i am not sure if this kind of problem is covered under warrenty.  With regardsGKS

A:Power supply problem in lenovo B40-70

This may be due to a loose connection on the battery, or on the socket it locks into.  Either way - if under warranty I would suggest calling the support line and getting it fixed ASAP... That is the only way to be sure.

Good luck.

Problem: W530 not charging with Mini Dock Plus Series 3 1. My W530's battery charges when not plugged into my Mini Dock Plus Series 3. 2. When the W530 is attached to the dock at first the Windows power icon shows that the W530 is connected to the power brick, and shows that it is charging. Charging lasts for about 15 seconds.  Then it stops charging (but continues to show that it is connected to the power brick) and runs from the battery, I can watch the % charge constantly lower. 3. I have updated the BIOS and Drivers from the Lenovo site, this made no difference. 4. I carefully cleaned the contacts on the W530 and dock, this made no difference. 5. None of the pins on the W530 or dock appear to be damaged, I closely examined them with a magnifying lens. Does anyone have any suggestions and/or ideas to resolve tis problem? Thanks, Bob

At home, I am using a Docking station (ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3) which has a different power demand than the W520. The docking station works properly but does NOT charge the laptop. So, I plugged in a spare charger-plug directly into the laptop but it will not charge. My logical guess is that the docking power plug is over-riding the laptop plug. Is there a way around this so that I won't lose power while working from home using the docking station?

Hi Daniel778

Greetings.

I was waiting for other members that my have used the Corsair ATX that you are planning.
As it is still an ATX and the bulk would still not fit your chassis if you are not considering atx chassis.
Seen your previous post and maybe this article can also provide you additional information on your plan of upgrade considering both size and pin.

Hi Lenovo, I've recently been trying to upgrade my H30-50s graphics card. In fact, I've bought the wrong card twice from misguided advice. Ended up buying 2 cards that were 12cm instead of the needed 7cm or so. Believe me, that's been frustrating enough. Anyway, I've finally found a card that'll fit. It's MSI's low profile 750ti. Its got plenty of power. Looks great. Hopefully should fit. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Nvidia-750Ti-Graphics-Dvi-D/dp/B00ZA1IFGA/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8... Wattage on Amazon says 400W. Wattage on Nvidia website says 300W. As far as I'm aware, the H30-50 has a 240W PSU? Is this graphics card an absolute no-go? I have the i3-4160 model. 12gb ram, upgraded with 8gb recently. 1TB HDD.  If this is not a possibility, is it possible to upgrade the PSU considering how slimline these pcs are? I'd much rather find a new PSU than have to try and find another, decent specification, low profile graphics card. Any ideas? Thanks.

while plugged in directly to the notebook (Thinkpad T520) it is running in full Duplex 1000.Windows10Intel NIC driver 12.15.30.0, Driver date 18:08.2015Already changed cables, but with all cables the notebook is delivering full speed, just docked in => reduced speed (100 MBit) Seems to happen since a few days.I already installed old driver, no change, so I went back to the newest one.Connected to Switch => Router  (but was working fine before as CNET network speed tests were showing all the time, I have a fiber GBit connection, usually the tests went up to 800-900 up and down, now only around 100 Mbit)Docking station defective? Any idea or same experience? Thank you in advance for your comments and help

We have a user with a T530 and a Mini Dock Series 3 (433710U). She has a single monitor conected via VGA. When she presses the button on the dock, it does not detect her monitor. I have been able to fix this in the past by enabling the Optimus graphics in the BIOS but in this case, that is not working. I have searched the Lenovo site for dock firmware updates but am not finding anything. Any help or links to the firmware would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everybody! I have a lenovo h50-55 amd A10 and last night I upgrade it with a corsair CX650M power supply and a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphic card! I bought the power supply 80$ after taxis from Best Buy and my graphic card 280$ after taxis from Amazon. The truth is that wasn?t sure if all that is going to work together and I mean with my cpu and motherboard and I couldn?t find any information on internet to make sure that card is compatible with my system so that means I literally took a risk to invest to upgrade my pc and that?s the reason I?m writing that post! The installation was easy and the results excellent! Everything fit in the case The only i was needed is a 24 to 14 pin adapter to connect my motherboard! Everything works perfect and I suggest to everyone who have this PC and want a good upgrade to do it! I hope with this post to help whoever have doubts to upgrade this model! Thanks and good luck!

Greetings all. I scoured the forums for an answer, but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. To be brief, I own an M91p SFF (Model 3227). I've already maxed out the RAM. I need to upgrade the PSU as much as possible because I'll be running Adobe Creative Suite CS6 (no need for or interest in), and want to install the GT 1030 card. I can't seem to find any definitive PSU information about this machine. So, I'm asking - what is the MAXIMUM watt make and model you've found to use? I've seen posts give some vague information, but not enough so that I can actually order one. Thanks in advance for the help!

Today, when I was using my laptop, suddenly it stopped running on the AC power supply, and switched to battery instead. The power supply was still connected to the laptop. And now it seems it would run only on the battery. When both the power supply and battery are connected, the laptop works (powered by the battery, not the A/C). The power light blinks white, and the battery light blinks amber, even though the battery has >90% charge (Demo video https://youtu.be/RTTTGqBKVVI )When I unplug the A/C power while the laptop is running, it keeps running just fine on the battery. But the power and battery lights both turn white (not blinking). When I unplug and replug the A/C power, it seems to detect the A/C power for 2-3 seconds, and starts charging, but then goes back to using the battery after that. When I take out the battery, while the A/C is plugged in, the laptop just shuts down. While the laptop is turned off, and I plug the AC power in, the battery lights turns on white. I tried doing the "remove the battery and AC power and hold the power button for 30 seconds" trick, and then tried to run the laptop on AC power. It seemed to run on the AC power for about 30-40 seconds, which is a fairly long duration, but then it shutdown after that (since I didnt have the battery plugged in). I did this only once, maybe I should try again? Can someone help me solve this problem? I hope its not a motherboard issue, because it seems Lenovo doesnt sell the motherboard ... Read more

A:Lenovo G480 (Model 2184) not using AC power supply

I have a similar issue. I have a thinkpad e570 with an i7 core. It?ll work with the battery in or the ac adapter but not both. It only started doing it in the last month. Has anyone had the same issue or know how to sort? It will not update the new bios because both power sources cannot be fitted at the same time

I just got a T430 and a Mini Dock from a refurbisher, and the dock won't physically attach to the laptop. From inspection, the latches don't fully insert into the holes on the laptop. I've tried messing aronud with it a bit but I can't get it to lock. With the dock plugged in, the computer light will come on if I press down on the dock. Anybody have any ideas what to do? Thanks,

I have a Thinkpad W530 (243852U) on a Thinkpad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 running Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64 bit.  When plugging a headset using the microphone and speaker jacks on the docking station, there is no sound. All the other ports on the docking station work.In the Sound window in the "Select a playback device below to modify its settings" it only lists:Speakers (High Definition Audio Device),Headphones (High Definition Audio Device), NVIDIA HDMI Output (Port 0) NVIDIA High Definition Audio,NVIDIA HDMI Output (Port 1) NVIDIA High Definition Audio, NVIDIA HDMI Output (Port 2) NVIDIA High Definition Audio. The headset does work when connecting it to the laptop's audio jacks.I have recently updated the Realtek audio driver on the laptop.Any ideas what the problem might be?Thanks
