I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Please check all of your SMTP settings. Invalid settings can trigger this error. Also check that there is nothing stuck in your outbox (ie: no bad messages), as this can also cause the issue.

I am having 2 issues with my computer and because of that I am losing internet connection intermittently.
1) Problem 1 - I lose internet connections very frequently. My PC drops connection and connects back with in 1 min. When I checked system event I see the log as below.
-- Name resolution for the name dns.msftncsi.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
here dns.msftncsi.com is just one server, but I do see logs for other server as well.

2)Problem 2 - Time to time I get IP conflict issues. I don't have fixed IP address.
The system detected an address conflict for IP address with the system having network hardware address 90-21-55-E8-29-C8. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.

Initially I thought both problems was todo with my ISP provider, but I begin to think it could be issue with my computer as my ISP provider tried everything from their side such as changing modem, router..etc.

My computer is windows 7, intel core i7 [email protected], 8GB Ram.

Any help is really appreciated.

Win 7 with Outlook 2013 installed. Working as client to MS server
We have a shared contacts file for everyone in the building (10 clients) called "AMAG Contacts"

My Contacts (now called People in O-2013)
Opens to my personal contacts (no prob). Not AMAG Contacts, but I can click on AMAG Contacts and open it OK. New emails default to the AMAG contacts OK. this Q is for whan I am opening the Contacts list.
When I click on AMAG Contacts it has a list of pictures and names.

When I open AMAG Contacts I can click >View>Change view>By Category (or whatever??)
BUT neither AMAG Contacts nor my view change is persistent. I want the changed view to be persistent across closing O2013 and reopening it

1. Is there a way to default to AMAG contacts when opening contacts?
2. Is there a way to make my view of choice persistent? I like the Category view.

I cannot find any dialog that allows me to do the above.
Several others in the building have asked the same question and I think the older versions are more straightforward and controllable.
Can this be done? I perused Outlook options and saw nothing there either.
Pls advise
Thank you

I have four POP accounts set up on Thunderbird on a laptop and I get the message, noted in the Subject window, when I try to send e-mail. I have set each of the SMTP settings to default in each of the accounts and get the same message. This morning I was able to send and receive e-mail from home; at my office this afternoon, I was able to receive, but not send messages. Using the same account settings in Outlook, my messages went out flawlessly. I would appreciate any help I can get with this problem.

I was trying to set up email for a friend on Outlook 2013 as part of 365 (win8). It would not open, but rather produced an error that mentioned Exchange server (sorry, had to run out on a business call and neglected to get a screenshot of the exact error). When canceling out, it produced a dialog with the friend's name and email address (which is a cox.net server using an alias, i.e., [email protected]). There was an option to 'check name'. When clicked on, it mentioned something like "suchandsuch.ost was not an ost file" or (after googling...) it could have been "not an outlook data file". Again, apologies for the vagueness of the error.

I found it odd that outlook wouldn't open at all, but errored out. Then it occurred to me...given that this was a new computer, maybe my friend may have had a version of Outlook on their previous system and transferred the old .ost file over to the new system. Could this cause this type of behavior in Outlook 2013? My friend's time is limited and she may not be available for a few weeks, so returning to her house is not an option before then, and I'd really like to have an idea of what the problem could be.

Could this be an incompatible file issue? A damaged file issue? And if so, could I just track down the file and move it out of the directory to allow Outlook to run?

Does my vague description fit another problem that could cause this issue?

Again, apologies for the limited info.

Thanks, Salt

I experience a strange error when I reply to a message. When I click Send a popup box tells (I have to translate this message from danish) that "The message can not be send because it has been changed" and I can click an OK button and a draft is saved. Of course the mail is changed because I wrote an answer in it. If it is a quick reply I don't see this error but if it is a longer answer the error appears.

I can't find anything on the Internet about this. I use a MAPI acount.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this seems to be a language problem. What language is your default one?. Do you always use Danish or do you use English as well.

I have a new computer running Windows 8.1 (64 bit, version 6.3 Build 9600) that I recently installed Office 2013 Professional Plus. Install went fine and I proceeded to setup an email account in Outlook that accesses a POP account. Setup of the account went fine and mail was flowing in and out just fine.

A week later, I am now getting an error message when Outlook goes to check mail - the error being 0x8004210a.

Here is what I have checked so far but been unable to get Outlook working correctly.

1. Went to website and logged into mail using ISP webmail to verify all is working and that was successful.
2. Checked and rechecked settings for the mail account and all settings are correct
3. Did a repair of the Office package through Control Panel - Programs and Features which successfully completed.
4. Ran full scan with Malwarebytes and came up clean.
5. Ran full scan with McAfee LiveSafe - Internet Security (installed antivirus software) and came up clean.

An iPhone and iPad setup to access this same mail account have no issues receiving and sending mail so it is specific to this new desktop machine.

Here are some other things I have tried and noted. When opening Outlook and then looking over the settings for the mail account, when I click on the Check Connectivity button to see if the settings are OK, it will time out and fail. At this point, I seem to have DNS problems as opening IE or FireFox and trying to visit any site takes forever for the page to resolve and di... Read more

Just wanted to post a quick note saying that I played around with McAfee and disabled the Anti-Spam module and tried running Outlook and everything seemed to work fine. I have a PC with Windows 10, Outlook 2013 and avast! free antivirus. All was working well until this morning when Windows downloaded a big update - I am now on Version 1511, OS Build 10586.17

Since then Outlook is not receiving emails - I get error 0x800CCC0F. I have tried turning off avast! Mail Shield but this has made no difference (and it now won't turn back on). I have made no alteration to any other settings. I know that there are ten messages not downloaded, as I have checked my email provider's webmail.

Any ideas gratefully received, thank you.

I've just found a pst file with all my old email. I'd like to put them back on the server (hotmail) but before doing that I've seen that some of them were not recived (or sent) to my actual address (@hotmail.com) but to an old one (@infinito.it). So I was thinking to export them from outlook 2013 to CSV, modify that address into the new one and then import them back on outlook 2013. The problem is that when I export them to CSV, in that file they don't have the date (received or sent) and so when I get them back on outlook 2013 they miss that info.
Can anyone help me doing this? I've been told that VBA macro should be useful for this, but having a look in it I have no idea of what I sould do.
Ah, instead of outlook 2013 I can also use thunderbird (45.3.0) if it's easier with it, but then I'd have to convert that pst file.

First create a new shortcut to Outlook 2013. Right click/Run As Administrator. Send/receive.

If it works, it tells that it is the permissions. Then Right click /Compatibility/ Privilege Level/ Run This Program As Administrator. Send/Receive.

If it works, it tells that it is the permissions.

You could just leave it, OR, do this: got to C drive/ Program Files/ Microsoft Office/ Office 15 Folder/ Right Click/ Properties/ Security/ Administrators and Users All Checked Full Control. This should fix it permanently. Send/receive.

I have a desktop Pc and a laptop Pc with Office 2013. I want to export the contacts fra from the desktop to the laptop and when I export to a csv file on the desktop the e-mail adresses is missing in the file. They are not in the csv file. When I import it on the laptop names, phonenumbers, adresses etc. is ok but no e-mail adresses.

I think it is strange and I have not experienced it with Outlook 2010??

I imported the backup.pst and it did the trick.

A:Export Contacts from Outlook 2013 to Outlook 2013 on another Pc?

when exporting as a csv file you have to map custom fields first and take the email 1 address and move it into the other side for the addresses to get in there (from left to right) or the email addresses will not go correctly into the computer you want to do it to. If you back it up with *.pst then everything goes in much easiwer

Hi there
Unless you have an ACTIVE Internet connection (or other Network Mail Server connection such as Exchange) you will NOT be able to set up OUTLOOK 2013.

Outlook 2013 requires (and there is no option unlike in Outlook 2010 to disable it by unchecking a box) a TEST email to be sent and working before your account(s) can be configured-- Once it's done you don't have to be online but if you need to set up several accounts and you don't have a working internet connection -- Tough luck.

Why on earth did Ms do this --it's not necessary and it is a Hassle for some people who are on the road, have purchased Office 2013 and want to set it up instead of having to wait until they get home.

Also a hassle if they want to prepare company laptop computers with email parameters in advance of the new Exchange email servers being rolled out to the users.

Even if your work policy has mechanisms where the USER can configure the email connections themselves they won't be able to set it up until the Servers are actually in place so you can't set the accounts up in advance.

The box I've shown here is from Outlook 2010. In Outlook 2013 the option is filled in and greyed out so you can't change it.

BTW I prefer and use Office 2010 myself but was trying to help a colleague to set up Office 2013.

Of course you can uncheck the Test email box. It has been so in all Outlook versions, is still so in Outlook 2013.

The option is grayed out exactly as long as the NEXT button is grayed out i.e. as long as they could not be used due missing credentials, until the setup has all relevant information for an email account to work (email address, incoming and outgoing servers, username and password). When you have filled the needed credentials, both the Test box and NEXT button become visible and can be clicked / selected.

Although I could well understand that setting up an email account, which in any case needs a working connection, would require an existing connection, this is not the case with Outlook 2013. You can set your email accounts up while sitting in a pub in Brussels watching Premier League Football without Internet connection if you want to .

After uninstalling Office 2010, I downloaded and installed Office 2013 from Microsoftonline.com. The install went smoothly. But after the install was complete I tried to setup an mail account - using the Mail applet in control panel. But got the following popup error " Rundll32.exe - Application error. The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000be) Click ok to close the application." I therefore cannot add an email account as this has to be done through the applet. I am running Windows7 64bit. I have tried both Office 2013(32bit) and Office 2013(64bit) but get the same result. I have used the "Fixit tool " from Microsoft to uninstall and re-install with no luck. I have googled the error and have had no luck in finding a solution. Has anybody experienced this issue and been able to resolve it?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Hi there

Whoever designed the base colors for Office 2013 must have been totally STONE DEAF and COLOR BLIND at the same time. I can't believe that comments weren't made before this stuff was allowed out of the door.

There's almost no possibilities to customize the backgrounds or colors and on a large monitor the base white looks really HIDEOUS -- you need a good pair of Sunglasses while working with it.

The only other choice is some type of Grey (shown in screenshot) which looks very similar to "The Fruit Company's Window colour scheme. Still looks hideous and that Blue !!!!!.

Outlook also displays the unread message titles in the most sickly blue (can't seem to change it) I've ever seen.

Before I remove this POS from my computer is there anyway to De-Uglify or customize like I had in Office 2010 with the Black background.

I don't like it opening with a prompt screen before I get the base screen (often needs another TWO keyboard strokes !! -- example for EXCEL 2013 shown) -- I should be able to open it in a Window with the menus just like like Office 2010. It means I now have to make a load of extra keyboard strokes before I actually get a workbook screen to start getting my work done.

I don't want the sign in reminders either -- I don't intend to use Cloud services etc.

A:Outlook 2013 (Office 2013) Help to De-Uglify

No there isn't a way (that I know of) to change it. It was too cumbersome and hogged my Internet Speed with Cloud and whatnot; so I went back to good ol' office 2010. Maybe you should too

Can anyone help. I updated the May Critical updates on 15th May 2015 and then Outlook Stops, and in the Event Viewer for SChannel I get the following

A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 40. The Windows SChannel error state is 808.

I've no idea what 808 is, but the 40 is a handshake error.
Now if I go back to my restorepoint prior to the updates it all works again, until the system does the updates again (all 15 of them). It appears to be something in the updates, but cannot find other people complaining about this. It's also a bit disappointing
that the error state of 808 seems to be undocumented.
Can anyone help?
I have since diagnosed which Patch it is with the problem. It's KB3061518 (MS15-55). Doesn't help much since bing/google aren't telling me about reports of problems with it (apart from a CAD package) running Outlook email workload.

A:SChannel Errors with Outlook 2013 when May 2015 Critical Updates performed. Channel Error is 808 and seems undocumented.

Please check if the issue can be resolved after revert to using a 512-bit key length.

To edit this registry entry, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:

3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type ClientMinKeyBitLength for the name of the DWORD, and then press Enter.
5. Right-click ClientMinKeyBitLength, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 00000200, and then click OK.
Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

I am receiving the Error message "A message in your Outbox could not be sent. The server did not recognize the recipients." with an Explanation "not local host sbcglobal.com, not a gateway", Error 5550.

I cannot send SOME email - some are sent while others aren't (I consistently cannot send to certain addresses). What's odd is I was able to send emails to these addresses earlier today plus I haven't changed any of the Account settings at all. Did something get corrupted? It seemed like I started having problems after I switched back and forth between email accounts (i.e. Switched Identities) a few times.

I had something similar happen a few weeks back after switching identities several times, although that time I seemed to get some type of corruption in my Mail Listings file. Once I removed that file from the appropriate folder in the Identities folder of Microsoft User Data, a new one was apparently generated, and all returned to working just fine.

I am running an old iMac 400MHz G3 with OS 9 (Classic) and OS 10.3.9. I've been using Outlook Express 5.0.6 in OS 9 Classic mode with the same ISP for years but just started having this problem and can't remedy it.

Any ideas how I might fix this and be able to start sending ALL my emails? I'd be very grateful for any suggestions you might have.

A:Outlook 2003 server connection error

Are you able to access you e-mail via web-mail? Have you restarted? If the answers to both those questions is yes I would delete the profile and set it back up.

I am desperate to resolve this issue, as I have been getting this 0x800ccc0e error from Outlook on my laptop, regarding failure to connect to my virtual server (apache tomcat running windows server 2008)

I tried to connect to my email via Webmail on Plesk, and received a failed login. The same for all accounts.

The problem arose when just minutes after sending through an email okay, I tried a follow up email to the same person and received this 0x800ccc0e error message.

I check on the server and noted that Mailenable Professional was not running IMAP properly, as I have exceed my trial period, so I spoke to them and installed Mailenable Enterprise on over the top to keep the trial running.

It kept the same settings, and IMAP and all the other services on the same accounts worked.

Having gone back to Outlook on my laptop, and tried to send. I got the same error.

Since then, I have disabled all anti-virus (KASPERSKY PURE / SPY WARE DOCTOR / MALWARE) on my laptop and server (SYMANTEC END POINT), disabling the firewalls to no avail.

I tried setting up an account with POP as opposed to IMAP, and test fails. I have also verified the account details to be the same, as had worked previously for a long time.

I've tinkered with some port changes via other forums, and its not worked either. Plus did a run of registry cleaners on both systems, as well as resetting machines etc.

Tel net command prompts actions do not work or bring up anything.

In addition to the my previous email, a colleague of mine tried to log in externally via webmail, and got a login failed.

The would point to a failure on the server side, as Webmail is external to Outlook.

Please help, anyone!!!

I have a Dell Inspiron 660 running Window 8.1 Pro.

I had been using Outlook 2013 for about a month with no problems, when I got a message saying my OUTLOOK.PST file was approaching maximum size of 2Gb. However, I could not open it to compact it or delete items to bring the size down. I just kept getting the "approaching maximum size" error.

Outlook was NOT asking for a password for my mail server, It's specifically asking for a PW to open OUTLOOK.PST.

So, I opened the OUTLOOK.PST file in Outlook 2007 successfully, did some housekeeping, and reduced the size to about 700Mb. However, when I tried to open the PST in Outlook 2013 again, I was prompted for a password to open the PST. I tried my MS Account PW, and several other PWs, but none worked. I never set a PW for the OUTLOOK.PST in the first place. I was never prompted for a PW before the "max size" error came up.

I am able to open the file in Outlook 2007 without being prompted for a PW but every time I try to open it in OL2013, I get the PW prompt.

I have also run the SCANPST.EXE utility on the OUTLOOK.PST file, but that has not changed the PW prompt.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I used Zinstall to move all my files/programs from my old computer to my new one in the last few days. I also upgraded the new one from 8.1 to Win10 after the migration. Knowing Win10 doesn't work with MSOffice2007, I subscribed to MSOffice365 in the new computer. Now, Outlook 2013 doesn't show the same folders I had in Outlook 2007, and I need to know where all my saved files went and how to import them to this system. (They are still sitting in my old computer, if I have to copy them to a zip drive & move them again.)

I am so confused about where outlook 2013 keeps things.

I have installed Outlook 2013 and would like to import my contacts from my outlook 2007 in another computer. I have already prepared the contacts.pst file from outlook 2007 and made it available in my public folders. I then imported the .pst file into Outlook 2013 via network. However the contacts shows up as a separate contact list rather than integrated into the outlook 2013 address book . How to correct it?

I must have got the process wrong.

A:outlook 2013 import contacts from outlook 2007

OK. I found the imported contacts in a separate list inside the address book. There are 2 lists one is "In This computer" the other is just "contacts" . How do I make the "contacts "list as the default so I get an address book when I click on 'To" ?

As a translator I need to recreate old e-mails and attachments to avoid to have to translate an entire novel once again. (After a few years, the publisher now wants to publish a new edition).

But the only place this file is located, is as an attachment in my old outbox in Outlook Express 6.

Unfortunately OE6 is history long ago on my computers, and no longer available.

But I have managed to get out the .bak files from the old hard drive. Now I need to get out the contents.
The files are inbox.bak, sendt.bak and deleted.bak

Now I use Outlook 2013.

I have seen for me to first convert .bak file to .dbx, then convert .dbx to .pst, and finally to import .pst into Outlook 2013.

But whether this is possible or the best way, and how I do this easiest, I have no idea.

All the solutions I've found on the web until now requires that I have OE6. Which I have not.

Is there anyone who can help?
Is there a procedure or an utility to help me out?

I am running Outlook 2007 enterprise on Windows 7. I am getting an error when trying to send mail. I can receive mail and it is okay but not send.

Email server setting and account username and password are all correct.
Incoming is pop.gmx.com
outgoing is mail.gmx.com

The error I'm getting is 0x800CCC0F : The connection to the server was interrupted.

I googled the error and the consensus is that anti visus software or firewall is causing the error so I uninstalled my antivirus and firewall software but no luck

This is getting frustrating Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated please!!!!!!!

After reinstalling Windows XP (and Outlook Express 6) following another problem with OE (which is posted in another thread here), I am now getting the error message 0x800CCC90 and 92, "There was a problem logging onto your (POP3) mail server. Your Password was rejected ..." This problem started when I created a new identity for my son. It is that password that gets rejected. I can access my own OE inbox, but then I get my son's logon prompt in my inbox. When I click "cancel" on that logon prompt, I get the error message about the password.

I have tried to delete my son's identity, restart OE, create that identity again, but I get the same error message. I have been to Identities, and Tools > Accounts > Mail > Properties > Servers numerous times for the past few days to try to resolve this issue, and this has been a hopelessly time consuming effort with no results. Can someone please help?
