[SOLVED] Firefox won't start anymore (Moved from Microsoft Computing)

Q: [SOLVED] Firefox won't start anymore (Moved from Microsoft Computing)

I am hoping this is the right forum to post this because i don't know where else it would go.

Only IE works now, when i click on mozilla, it says, "This application has failed to start because plds4.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

And i have tried uninstalling, and downloading and installing again.. but the same exact thing is happening

Preferred Solution: [SOLVED] Firefox won't start anymore (Moved from Microsoft Computing)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: [SOLVED] Firefox won't start anymore (Moved from Microsoft Computing)

Get the Zip file attached and extract it to:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\

That should be the path your require.

I have wrote down the stop code before and i notive it changes and crashes doing different things (on start up, while using the laptop, shuting down) and i am not sure where to go about to fix this since there are a lot of differences.

and for me, with CPU usage set to max (or around there) i am getting 40% on one CPU and 80% on the other and i can never get them to be about the same.

A:Various BSOD Stop Codes [moved from Distibuted Computing]

Stop codes can quite often relate to several possibities. Make a note of the next few and what you were doing when they occurred, then post them all in a new thread in the Vista forum. There might be a common theme between them, pointing to drivers, RAM, corrupt files, etc.

120% CPU usage? I'm not sure what's going on there.

Last night a balloon popped up stating that the pc was infected (the balloon came from the security sheild in the quick lanch tray). I knew this was fake so I didn't click on. Still a bunch of problems occured. The desk top changed into a warning that I needed to get virus protection. That went away after restarting. However now I cannot get symantec to start. Firefox crashes as soon as I click on it. I am forced to use explorer. Google has been hijacked. The links redirect to nuisance sites. The only thing protecting the pc right now is spybot. I am running windows xp.

I was using mozilla firefox browser and was on Facebook today. When I clicked on a link under my notification tab everything froze up including my computer. I had to manually shut off the computer then restart it. When I could open up Firefox again I keep getting this:

Firefox can't find the server at www.google.com.

Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

so I tried Internet Explorer and everything works fine. Because I am using my internet explorer right now. So then I tried to uninstall firefox and reinstall it and it still says the same thing. Please help me because internet explorer sucks!
Thank You very much!!!!

I have been using AOL for ages but it kept cutting me off so i moved onto Firefox & occasionally, IE 7. They have both been working fine until now,
i can no longer log into mail.live.com (the page opens but the graphics dont load and when I try to log in nothing happens for ages and then it says:
"The connection has timed out, The server at bl131w.blu131.mail.live.com is taking too long to respond. "

another site that suddenly wont display is www.wwe.com

however, they WILL display if i use the AOL 9 software.

I have tried using restore points but it makes no difference although i cant go back very far because all of them except "october 2008" have disappeared for some reason and i dont know why!)

Basically, I was on my laptop last night (ACER 8943G) when all if a sudden everything just started closing itself. Before it finished closing every down I quickly pressed restart. Now it won't startup properly. I get the option to startup repair or start up as normal. I clicked startup repair and it tried to fix it for a while but it couldn't. I ran the laptop in safe mode and ran malwarebytes to which it found 38 viruses. I deleted them all and restarted the computer but it still won't start up. A blue screen appears for literally a quarter of a second. I had to video record the startup so I could pause the video to see the blue screen it was that quick. Didn't say much except if you installed drivers lately then get rid of them but I haven't really installed anything. I have tried a system restore and that didn't work. Would appreciate any help

I even cannot start any programs in the control panel. the only thing i can start are the prorams in the administrative tools folder. I thought that maybe i lost the administrator right and tried to create a second administrator account but it is impossible to create it as an administrator. I'm think I'll have to reinstall the system. But then I'll have to backup my outlook xp contacts and emails. Does anybody know where these are saved? And can I import them after a reinstall or what do i have to do? It's very important.

My PC won't start in Normal Mode anymore.

I went to restart it in SafeMode by this method:

Start>Run>Msconfig>SafeBoot Option>Restart

When the PC restarted it stalled where you get to choose which type of start you want, eg:

Last known good configuration, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Normal Bootup, etc.

At the top of the screen was this message:

Windows failed to start properly due to a Hardware/Software change you may have made recently.

I noticed that my mouse/keyboard has failed too and this stopped my being able to select an option.

My mouse is USB and the keyboard is part of a wireless combo. The wireless mouse doesn't work anymore but the keyboard is still in use. It has the receiver which usually lights up but in this instance is dead too.

Because of the manner in which I entered into the SafeMode chain of events my PC is rebooting back into SafeMode in an infinite loop until I power off {which I have to do by hitting the powerpoint switch because the PC power button won't respond}

How can I get around this loop and start my PC normally without boot discs?

My PC won't reboot into Normal Mode until I log into SafeMode and reverse the booting option.

I tried the XP installation disc but the PC would'nt boot from the disc.

Microsoft working on Cloud Shell, a 'lightweight Windows version for modern computing world'

Last week, details emerged of Microsoft's plans to develop a single, unified, 'adaptive shell' for Windows 10. Known as the 'Composable Shell', or CSHELL, the company's efforts were said to be focused on establishing a universal Windows 10 version with a standardized framework to scale and adapt the OS to any type of device, display size or user experience, including smartphones, PCs, tablets, consoles, large touchscreens, and more.

Today, Petri reported that Microsoft is working on a new shell for Windows known as 'Cloud Shell'. According to internal documentation referred to in that report, Cloud Shell is described as a "lightweight version of Windows designed for the modern computing world." It also hints at plans to introduce the Cloud Shell sometime in 2017 - but little else is known about the new shell besides that.

Cloud Shell is said to be connected, in some way, with the Windows Store and Universal Windows Platform app framework, and the report speculates that it may also be related to Microsoft's plans to bring the full version of Windows 10 to mobile devices with ARM-based processors, which it announced in December.

However, the cloud nomenclature, and the reference to this being a 'lightweight' version of Windows could hint at a 'thin client'-style approach, in which the Windows 10 s... Read more

I just restarted my system and it looks like neither Mozilla or IE can start. Minutes ago they were working just fine. Opera works just fine but when I try opening Internet Explorer I just get a blank page and when I try typing an address it goes unresponsive. Mozilla doesn't even open a window. It does show up as a process but not as an application. I just connected my phone via USB and tinkered around a little bit trying to get it to work but couldn't in the seconds in between the browsers working and not working. I'm stumped. If it's a virus, why is Opera unaffected. And why is it affecting IE and Mozilla in different ways? I reinstalled IE but it's doing the same...

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

Dear BleepingComputer folk,
My laptop is running Firefox 40.0.3 under Windows 8.1 (64-bit).
The Problem
Two nights ago my browser (then Firefox 40.0.2) started opening some webpages extremely slowly, simply refusing to open others and producing a "This document has been moved here" message for others (see below screenshot - the link would appear to go to whatever I searched for, but I never clicked it).
These various problems were affecting familiar websites that I have bookmarked and regularly open, such as Facebook.  This seemed to be in some way related to the cache, as it was not affecting new URLs that I had not visited previously during that browsing session.
SCREENSHOT #1 - result of attempt to visit https://mail.riseup.net via browser bookmark:

In addition, when using Google Toolbar (but not https://www.google.co.uk/ , which appeared fully functional) to search for anything I would receive the same: "This document has been moved here", but with an additional "302 Moved" message.
SCREENSHOT #2 - result of attempt to search for http://www.facebook.com/ via Google Toolbar:

Attempting to access attachments in gmail also produced a similar message (I don't have a screenshot of this, but I believe the message there again differed slightly, saying that the document was "temporarily" moved).  This is what I encoun... Read more

Thanks so much for your input.

A:Solved: Which processor is the best for everyday computing?

Video editing/rendering is processor intensive so get the fastest cpu with the largest cache. As for email and web access, just about any processor will do however when rendering video, you will see large differences in relation to processor speed. Go with 8gig of 1600 [or faster] ram if possible.

As for mgf, all of them make low end ie cheap stuff and they also make higher end stuff. If I had to use a big box system, it would probably be dell. At work, we must have 3000 dells and they generally do ok. One even runs 24/7 inside of a locked closet; when I open up the closet, it must be 120F inside and it still works

I'm having a strange issue...

Firefox just plain won't start. Won't do anything at all. click on the button, it'll go to the loading icon for a second, and then nothing. firefox.exe shows up in the process viewer, and takes 0 cpu time, and a few megs ram, and nothing. Try and launch it a second time, no dice. try and launch it via "safe mode", no dice.

Here's the fun part, it happens right after a fresh boot; sometimes. Yesterday I rebooted my computer 3 times, and Firefox alternated on whether or not it would work each time. Original boot, worked fine. First reboot, no dice. Second reboot, fine. Third reboot, no dice.

It seems to me that there's another process hanging that it's waiting for. In fact, I'm 95% positive that's exactly what it is because I once tried ending all the processes I had running except it and it loaded up after getting rid of one; I just can't remember what process it was, but it wasn't one that I don't want running...

What gives here? I don't really know where to look...

I see it in the task bar, if I right click on it and select "maximize" or "restore" it doesn't do sqaut, and I have some important things bookmarked in there so I need to be able to use it. I should add that I tryed re-installing it, but that did not work either.

A:Cant maximize firefox anymore!

Hi Clement.

Try opening Firefox in Safe Mode. Start > Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). You'll see some Options dialog but at this point don't select any of them, just continue in Safe Mode. If it opens ok, change your theme back to default. Once done and if Firefox opened normally change to another theme. If the problem then comes back get in touch.

I'd recommend you use Personas for Firefox for your themes. It's created by Mozilla Labs and you get hundreds of themes in 1 extension therefore cutting out any future Theme related problems.

This is typical of a PCI card I installed on a HP Desktop machine (Z400) with a 15-pin serial interface. After connecting the card to the PCI slot, the computer complained of the missing driver "Network and Computing Encryption/Decryption Controller" under system device manager.

The big deal here is where do I get this driver to install so I can use my PC with the machine?
Any thoughts? Any Ideas?? Any Tech Guy???

I always use Firefox but my kids use IE8 which I now I can't get to open on my laptop. I have Tidy Favorites running on IE and Firefox so when I click on the IE icon it appears to open but as soon as I try to open any website I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". When I try the "Diagnose connection problem" button it tells me there is no problem. Firefox runs fine.

I have searched all over the net and tried lots of potential solutions such as System Restore, resetting IE8, checking that nothing is checked under Tools>Internet Options>Connection>LAN settings which appears to be a common solution and running WinSockFIx. Nothing has worked.

Please can anyone suggest what I could try next? Thank you.

Hi all,

As the topic states, I am unable to start my Firefox browser. When I click on the icon, there is the loading circle thing on the cursor for 1 second then it disappears and nothing happens.

Restarted the computer numerous times. No luck. Checked task manager too. No firefox.exe

Anyone can help? Because I have a ton of bookmarks I do not want to lose in case an uninstall is my only option...

A:Solved: Firefox wont start

Try using Firefox Safe mode (which is different from the Windows Safe mode) to see whether an add on or something of the sort is responsible.

If that doesn't work you could install another browser that offers to import your firefox bookmarks when installed. After rescuing your bookmarks a reinstall should hopefully fix Firefox, and if you do happen to lose your bookmarks they can be quickly restored.

Hi there

For some reason my Mozilla Firefox is getting an error message - will not start and I get this prompt
(sorry for long cut & paste...not sure what to do here - I have put a double line in before and after what I pasted here)

Follow these steps to troubleshoot problems with your computer's hard disk.

This problem was caused by Windows not being able to open a file on your computer's hard disk. This might be a temporary condition that could go away after restarting your computer, or it could be a more serious problem with your hard disk or its driver.

What is a hard disk?

The primary storage device located inside a computer. Also called a hard drive or hard disk drive, it is where your files and programs are typically stored.

What are drivers?

A device driver is software that enables hardware or devices (such as a printer, mouse, or keyboard) to work with your computer. Every device needs a driver in order for it to work.

To troubleshoot this problem, follow these steps:

Restart your computer

When you restart your computer, Windows will automatically check your disk for errors, and will try to recover any files that are located on damaged areas on the disk.

If the problem persists after you restart you computer, try the next step.

Run the hard disk error-checking tool

Hi there

I have just downloaded Mozilla Firefox (first time ). When I click on the Icon to open it, nothing happens. It just flickers, but never opens, no matter how many times I click on it. No error messages, nothing. I'm on Windows XP.

Has anybody got any ideas? Other posts I've seen, deals with error messages when trying to open Firefox. Mine just won't open, full stop.

Thanks in advance

Hi, I've been running Windows 10 for a couple of months without any real problems. I've downloaded a couple of free games from the Microsoft store. I recently ran a registry clean up program that deleted a number of empty files, folders and registry keys. Since then my two games have disappeared and when I select Store from the dialogue box I get a brief screen flash then nothing else happens. I've found the store using my browser (Chrome) and tried to download the games again using the 'get game' button but nothing happens. I have cleared the store cache but this doesn't help.

I've not got any antivirus running except Defender. Tried a restore to a couple of days ago but it failed! Have checked region, date and time, all correct.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Microsoft Store not working anymore

A registry cleaner can cause a lot of issues as you have discovered and usually they do not need to be run

On the restore - what was the error message?

do you have older restore points , you could try ?

Hey guys whats up so a couple of months back my brother sold me his pc and traveled to Europe and from then on I stayed in his room using it and now that hes coming back i had to move the pc to my room finally. So after moving it everything was working pretty swell except no audio was coming out of the headphones, the same I had been using for 2 months.

When I moved the pc to my room I connected the headphones to the second entrance (not the one in the back of the pc, thats the one i was using first) and no sound was coming out. The sound symbol also had a little red x on it I think. So I changed the headphones back to the initial entrance, the one in the back, but still no sound coming out. There's no red x anymore.

There's also this, which is weird: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Alto-falantes means speakers.

So, as you can see, there's this weird Java Handler Updater. If I try to move its knob all the way up it just automatically goes down again. So maybe this is the issue?

I am hoping that there's no problem with my sound card... Really am

Recently, I can't do something as basic as renaming Firefox bookmarks anymore. I suspect it happened after I accidentally pressed something when about:config was on my sidebar. I don't think it's my extensions' fault, because I tested doing it in Safe Mode with all add-ons disabled. Also I don't think it's Firefox itself's fault, because I've tested running it on a different account. I ask you all to help me out of your good will

Just to clarify, I can rename fine on folders, and feeds in my bookmarks, but not links. When I try to, after right-click and pressing properties, the window shows up as usual, but when I click to save changes, nothing happens and it just stays there.

Hi, for about 2/3 months now, every time I close the Firefox browser, by the time I reopen it, I'll have been logged out of every site I had once been "remembered" by.

I installed the latest version of Firefox today... Still no change.

Any help?

A:Firefox doesn't remember me anymore

With the Firefox browser open select
< Tools
< Options
< Privacy Tab
Then go to the box that says "Clear History when Firefox closes" and uncheck it. Then go through all the other choices eg.Remember my Browsing History for at Least ? number of Days ? or from the pull down menu beside the headline "Firefox will: never remember history " and set to your requirements.
hope this helps
