BLU Android phone: Driver fails install as media device

Q: BLU Android phone: Driver fails install as media device

Hi all. This is my very first smartphone, but I'm pretty well versed with computers (not an expert).

(edit) The phone is a BLU Studio C 5+5 with a Mediatek MT6582 CPU I have also updated my PC specs in my profile.

First off, I'm pretty sure when I first hooked it up it was fine, because I managed to get some mp3's moved to it, but now it will only connect in camera mode. So, I can transfer pictures, but that's it.

The problem seemed to begin after Windows Update alerted me to an MTP driver update, which I attempted to install, but it failed every time. I tried a clean boot and install but it still failed. After that, I can only connect in camera mode.

I have contacted BLU about drivers and they said they don't provide them, and to contact OS support.

I have attempted to contact Mediatek but got no response.

I am including several pics of of errors and info. Take note of the two different messages in the same window that I got at two different times.

Things I have tried:

* Uninstall followed by clean boot install

* Uninstalling some (not all) other USB listings in device manager. Not all at once, as some lock up my USB keyboard and mouse.

* Different USB ports

* Unplugging USB harddrive

One last thing: Windows update seems to have an issue with 'disappearing' updates after multiple failed attempted installs. It has done this with the MTP driver and now my Intel graphics driver, which was also failing to install.

Any help is greatly appreciated! (It only let me upload 5 pics...I'll do the rest in the next post)

Preferred Solution: BLU Android phone: Driver fails install as media device

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey all!

As the thread title says, I need this device driver and I need it fast. As I don't have an active broadband connection anymore I am trying to connect to the Internet using my Android device as a modem (USB tethering). But I am curently stuck here. It seems I need a driver for this to work.

I am using Windows Vista 64-bit with SP2 and a HTC Desire as modem. When I connect the phone Windows is looking for drivers for a device named 'Android Phone'. It fails to find it and asks me what to do. I obviously can't let it search for it on the Internet. And I don't have a disc with drivers, I didn't get one.

I am using the Android phone to type this. As I have limited screen size and no mouse or keyboard, it's really hard for me to do a Google search to track down this driver issue. As far as I can tell, this should work out of box on Windows Vista. It seems that only Windows XP users are having this issue. Even on the Google Help it says that Windows XP users will need a special driver to enable USB tethering. But then again, why am I having this problem on Windows Vusta then?

I need to get back online fast, as I have bills to pay and things like that.

Thanks in advance!

A:Solved: Request: USB tethering device driver for 'Android Phone' on Windows Vista 64-

Hi again! I just wanna let you know that I have solved this little problem. As it turns out it does pay off reading the manual. Also, it is not completely true that Windows Vista comes with appropriate drivers pre-installed. You still need to install these, even on Windows Vista, and on Windows 7. But I still wish that things like these could just work out of the box. But for that reason alone, I may need to switch to a different operating system.

The solution was very simple. I did need to install the device drivers. But I didn't need to download and install them separately, they came pre-packed as part of the HTC Sync tool. And this thing comes cleverly stored on the MicroSD of the phone. So I just installed that and I was able to use the phone as a modem. It worked very good. The Internet connection did hang up on me once, but after a reboot of the phone it worked again and I was able to do my business effortlessly.

The thing is, I have terminated my old subscription, and I completely forgot about it and when they were supposed to shut down my connection. So it just happened, unexpectedly. But I have ordered a new Internet subscription with my new carrier and I am expecting it to be activated in couple of minutes.

Thanks anyway!

P.s. Just for the record, the HTC Sync tool is stored on the root of the memory card, the MicroSD card of the phone. It should say something like 'HTCSync_2.0.28.exe'. Just plug the phone to the computer in USB mass storage mode ... Read more

I need to be able to control movies and music from my phone with one of the multiple apps available on google play that allow you to do this. The only problem is that my pc is connected to the internet via a hotspot on my phone. I rooted my phone and am using wifi trevE mod to allow my data network to be used by my laptop. Every app that is available for controlling windows in anyway requires that your pc and phone be connected to the same wifi. But my phone isnt connected to wifi at all. Is there some way to make my phone believe that it is connected to its own hotspot. Or an alternative hotspot app that has this as an option? Even an app that doesnt require both be connected to the same wifi to control the pc would work. Something similar to youtube tv pairing? Im at a loss here. My preference is for the app on my phone to not work like a mouse but to have next, play, pause, and stop buttons. its too hard to use your phone as a mouse just to change a song or ff a movie.

Thank You

A:Control media from android phone that is tethered to pc wirelessly

From a network perspective, it definitely should be possible, but I can see how the application developers might not have thought about this type of situation, making it potentially impossible through the usual apps. I am however surprised that the applications cannot determine that the phone is connected to the same network, even though it is acting as a wireless access point/hotspot.

I am not completely sure why you needed to do this, the phone should provide a way for you to share your "mobile data" with connected laptops over the "WiFi hotspot", usually it's under tethering and internet sharing (or similar) in the settings.

I am not sure how this would work using WiFi, if neither device is connected to the same wireless network? They wouldn't be able to talk to each other.

My first idea is to see if there is another wireless router/access point around that both the mobile and the TV can connect to (e.g., a home or work router). This would then create the type of situation that the apps are developed for.

As an alternative, you could look into Blue... Read more

On Windows 8. 1, I had no issues with this speaker. It's a JBL Charge. After upgrading to 10 it worked fine until a reboot when it failed to connect (it pairs, but won't connect, and the speaker doesn't appear as an audio-out option in Sound settings).

The Bluetooth wizard in PC Settings says "Driver error" next to the speaker icon.

Poking around in device manager, I see this error:

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
{Conflicting Address Range}
The specified address range conflicts with the address space."

The only references I find to this error online are for different (and quite old) version of windows, and seem unrelated to Bluetooth.

I can't even look at the "resources" tab for help because it appears to have vanished in Windows 10!

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I have a galaxy S3. Love the thing to death.... but after jellybean 4.3, MTP no longer works. I have tried both Kies Air (not a fan) and an MTP update from windows.com that I love, however, neither work. Specifically I am talking about the MTP update I installed from windows. I run the install, restart the PC, and as long as you leave the phone plugged in during this process, all is well. It works just fine. Once you unplug the phone, however, It seems to cease to continue working. I will plug my phone in again and I get the same error I was trying to fix...

Hardware ID Missing
Could not identify Samsung (yada yada yada)

I have been made recently aware that there are a great number of fixes to this problem. One of which I have already tried which involves opening RegEdit and changing one of the WUDFSVC services to a 2 from a 1... Needless to say, if it had worked then I wouldn't be here.

-I am using 7 professional X64
-It is an S3, verizon, 4.3 jellybean build
-It is pissing me off (oh wait, thats not a spec...)

Anyways, If anyone has any suggestions. I have been made aware to try uninstalling drivers and restarting but I have no clue what to uninstall and from where.

A:MTP driver update only works until you unplug android device build 4.3

I have a Samsung Galaxy S III.

One of my apps is an audiobook player.

I am having a problem with moving audiobooks from one of my external hard drives into the audiobook library on my phone.

"Sometimes" when I plug the phone into the computer with the USB cable, everything works fine: When I go to My Computer, the phone shows up as one of the devices that is plugged in, and I get a message in my phone's notification bar that says: Connected as a media device. [Screen shot attached.]

When this works fine, I can transfer the books from my external drive to the correct folder on the phone.

More frequently, however, when I plug in the phone with the USB cable, I get a pop-up that says: USB device not recognized. [Screen shot of this, too.]

I called Samsung re the problem, and they had me download and install a driver, and restart the computer. The driver is listed below:

Same dismal thing is happening.

Samsung says it is a "computer problem."

Any suggestions as to how I can remedy this?????

A:Computer will not recognize phone as media device

with the phone plugged in, try rebooting the computer and see if it helps.

personally I found just pulling the microsd card and plugging it into the computer is the fastest way and less of a headache when it comes to moving files between the computer and phone. I listen to a lot of audobooks using the phone myself.

Hi all,

First off, I have a D-Link DIR-655 router. Just recently I have been experiencing connectivity issues with my WiFi network. I completely reset my router and created a new SSID and password. After doing so I was able to connect and and gain access on my computer, but not on my phone, a Samsung S5.

I can connect to the network on my phone, but there is no internet access. When I attempt to load a webpage in the browser on my phone it states that the DNS look up failed "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG.'

When I called D-Link support, they ran diagnostics and told me I would need a network technician and that I would be charged for the service. PLEASE HELP!

i recently purchased a Kindle Fire HD 7" (tablet), and i have 2 PCs running Win 7 Ultimate x64 w/SP1...on the one PC, when i connected the Kindle via USB, Windows recognized the Kindle as a USB mass storage device as it should , installed the drivers, and i was able to access the Kindle via Windows Explorer to transfer media

but on the second PC, when i connected the Kindle via USB, Windows recognized a new device, but the driver install FAILED, and i got an error message stating "MTP" Driver could not be installed...i tried this several times, and always the failed driver install....i even did a fresh install of Win7 x64 on to a brand new HDD, and i got the same error again ...so obviously the Kindle does not show up in Windows Explorer, and i can't transfer anything to/from it

in Device Manager, under "Other Devices", i have "MTP" listed with the yellow triangle...i have tried letting Windows update the driver, but it always comes back with unable to locate a driver

i've contacted Amazon, but they're clueless, and believe it's a Windows issue...i've searched everywhere online, and it seems i shouldn't need any special drivers with Win7, and that Win 7 should install the device automatically as a "mass storage device"...and as i mentioned, on one of my PCs, the install worked fine, it's the second PC that is driving me nuts

what can possibly be the problem?

I have a problem with my DVD burner that I've been researching recently on Google. My burner (which is a combo DVD-RW/CD-RW burner) fails to recognize any blank or used media. In other words, when I insert any blank media or a CD-R or DVD-R that I wrote to in the past, it does not appear as if the media has even loaded. By clicking on properties, It says 0 bytes used and 0 bytes available. However, when I place the same DVD-R or CD-R into my other drive (a normal DVD-ROM drive), it reads it perfectly fine. Additionally, when I insert my Battlefield 2 DVD into the burner, it reads it perfectly. Here is what I've tried:

Editing the registry (changing the drive function values)
Re-installing the cord
Uninstalling any 3rd party burning software that I have (including a clean uninstall of Nero 7)
Unchecking the "Enable CD Recording on this Drive," hitting Apply and then checking it again
Updating the firmware of the drive.
Checking to see whether the already-written media mentioned above worked on my MacBook (it did)
Disconnecting the DVD-ROM drive that I have attached as slave to the DVD burner

These were all the strategies that were posted on the other various sites and they did not help me at all. Has anyone encountered this problem?

Also, a little note. When I first purchased the media, they burned fine, which was a couple months ago. But now they aren't being recognized at all.

I'm trying to install either the 32bit and 64bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium via DVD onto my system. I am booting from the DVD and setup automicatically runs.

The Windows 7 setup GUI loads and it allows me to choose the language settings and then I get a prompt for,

"A Required CD/DVD device driver is missing...."

My System is
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard
AMD Athlon 64FX-55
2 x Hitachi Deskstar 250GB HDD in Serial ATA RAID 0

I have tried multiple drivers but there is nothing on the ASUS website for the DRW-1814BLT only a firmware upgrade which I have done.
This is extremely frustrating as both the motherboard and DVD-RW driver are from ASUS but there doesn't seem to be any support for Windows 7 on the download site.

My system passes the Windows 7 upgrade Advisor Report

Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated

Have a couple of different problems with my 8.1
When I try to use the tutorial, (thanks, Shawn), I get as far as the Product Key entry.
The install was an original 8 I downloaded when it first came out.
I then installed 8.1, probably from the Store.
I recently downloaded and install 8.1 Media Center Pack.

Had a real problem with activation.
MS Support finally had me go to where there was a long activation string and then he gave me a new Product Key, which is now on the machine and Activated.

When I get to the "Product Key" page and enter the Media Pack key, "This product key didn't work. ....."

Any remedy for this? My only other option I have is a reinstall.

PC is a Dual-boot with Windows 7 Pro.

A:8.1 Pro W/ Media Center Repair Install Product Key fails

Hello Pete,

You will not be able to activate Windows 8 or 8.1 with the Media pack key.

Your original product key was for Windows 8, so you would need to install Windows 8 first, and enter the Windows 8 key during installation.

Afterwards, you would update to Windows 8.1 from the Store again.

Next, you would add WMC again, but select the I already have a product key option, and enter the media pack key.

Hope this helps,

It's not something I would do regularly because you can eat up your mobile data plan very quickly and you pay a lot of extra charges. I suggest you check with your carrier for combined data plans. I have one with my carrier that combines my data plan for my phone and tablet. I don't have a laptop but I know they have combined data plans for that too. There are ways to do this economically but you should shop around and see what carriers in your area have.

Unfortunately, despite my best efforts to find a better alternative, where I live my only option for unlimited internet with any speed whatsoever is to tether my DROID DNA phone to my computer using the app PdaNet. I've been doing this for over a year now without any problems. I have an unlimited data plan through Verizon and although I only have 3G at my house, it is still far better than anything else I've found.

Recently I started playing the online game World of Warcraft. Obviously the speed isn't ideal, but it worked perfectly fine for about 3 weeks. One night the game started to get really slow and after a minute or two would freeze up entirely. When this happened, I would have an error message on my phone at the PdaNet screen that read "Communication with client has been broken." Despite restarting things, this continued to happen. I assumed that it was because the weather was bad outside, but the problem didn't go away the next day. When I noticed that my internet speed when browsing the web had slowed down as well I figured that although I supposedly have unlimited data, that Verizon must have slowed me down for crossing over a certain download barrier. I've heard that they do this.

So this went on for the next week until the first of the month when my data was reset through Verizon. Well I'm still having the same issue when trying to play the game. It will work alright for anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes, and then al... Read more

I don't know is it a right section, so sorry. Next: sorry for my bad english. Let's go.
First thing - this is my first post. I'm looking for help to use my android phone as webcam by connecting it via USB. Second thing, the problem is:
I find a way to use my phone camera as web camera by using DroidCam soft. Ok, so I installed that app on my android phone, and another one on my PC (Windows 8.1). I cannot connect via USB couse it screams "No devices detected". Okay, I found the sollution that I must download and install the BlueStacks soft. So I have download propably the 0.8 version and in the middle of installing (again sorry for my bad english) my computer restart by itself. Now I cannot finish the installation couse install app says that I've already that soft, and I cannot upgrade to new version (I get a message I've new version already).
The point is that in the solution about Droidcam I must run that Bluesomthingshit to get it working. I cannot, couse it's not install on my computer (the folder have ~800mb, but it should have 2gb), I cannot uninstall it couse I don't have that application on list of instaled apps.
Can somebody help me with this? Or how to connect ASUS ZenFone (X00AD, android ver 6.0.1) via USB to laptop to get working webcam?
Cheers and thanks you.

This is the DVD writer that was installed OK the first time I installed Win 7.
The DVD drive has been functioning perfectly but I need to get the driver to satisfy the Install process.
The drive is a TSST corp CDDVDW SH-224DB CDRom
The driver that is currently running the drive is cdrom.sys according to the device manager properties display.

If the driver was found the first time Win 7 was installed surely the driver must be on the DVD so what is wrong?

A:Win 7 SP1 install fails to find DVD driver

You do not need a new driver for your optical drive. Either your optical drive needs a firmware update which can be found @
http://www.firmwarehq.com/Samsung/SH-224DB/files.html or the drive has a problem and needs to be replaced. Please remember to click ?Mark as Answer? on the post that helps you, and to click ?Unmark as Answer? if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I need to create a batch file that install a 3rd party camera driver for PCI device. When I install the driver in device through device manager, I can do it successfully. However, when I try to the same, I get the message 'devcon failed' with no further
elaboration. I provided following commands but none of them works.
devcon install "C:\Program Files (x86)\Molecular Imaging\MI\Application\Drivers\pixci_win7x64\epixxcw6.inf"  "PCI\VEN_165A&DEV_EB01&CC_FF00"
or after installing through device manager
devcon update "C:\Program Files (x86)\Molecular Imaging\MI\Application\Drivers\pixci_win7x64\epixxcw6.inf"  "PCI\VEN_165A&DEV_EB01&CC_FF00"
devcon remove  "PCI\VEN_165A&DEV_EB01&CC_FF00"
However 'devcon find "PCI\VEN_165A&DEV_EB01&CC_FF00" ' runs fine and return the message that 'one matching device found'.

Similarly  'devcon dp_add "C:\Program Files (x86)\MolecularImaging\MI\Application\Drivers\pixci_win7x64\epixxcw6.inf" ' runs fine and the message I get in return is: c:\windows\system32\inf\oem151.inf addd.
After that I also tried install/update with   'c:\windows\system32\inf\oem151.inf' driver but it still fails.
Is there any way, I could see the elaborated message about failure or I could know whats wrong with my execution of devcon.

A:devcon install/update/remove fails even though installation through device manager is successful

I am afraid there seems to be no such function available for DevCon.exe to display the error messages here. In fact, The parameters in a DevCon command must appear in the order shown in the syntax. If parameters are not in order, DevCon ignores them, but
does not display a syntax error. Instead, it processes the command with the remaining parameters.

We can use the following commands  in a Command Prompt window:
DevCon help or DevCon help command.
To get the helpful information regarding the command syntax.
More information, please see:
Device Console (DevCon.exe) Commands

I would like to watch videos on my Windows laptop and have the audio play from my Android phone. Is this possible?

The reason I want to do this is my audio jack on my laptop seems to be broken. I'm often in the library or others places where headphones are essential.

A:How to Stream Audio on Android Device while keeping Video on Windows Device

That would be very difficult.
Lets first find out if your if your Audio jack is broken.
Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager are there any yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed.
What is the make and model# of your laptop? Go to the manufacturers support/download drivers and type in your make and model# or service tag # and download the Chipset and Audio driver for your computer.

I want to acces my phone's internal memory and/or sd-card as a network folder (through wifi). Just like windows pc-s and laptops. How can I do this?

A:How can I set my Android phone to appear as network folder

As far as I know there is no way to enable SMB Share on Android without downloading some software to the phone, There are quite a few file managers that have the option to enable file sharing with almost any OS.
The way I do it on my phone is with a program called AirDroid there is a free and paid version, I use the free version and as far as I know it is not capable of SMB share, you connect to it from a web browser.
There are other option's, you could run a FTP,HTTP server but I'm not sure if it would work since Android is based on Linux and with Linux any port below 1024 requires root.
Now that I think about it SMB requires ports below 1024 (port 445), so any solution you come up with will require that you can change the default port to something like 8080 which is a default port for many Linux OS's to start a service without root.

Hi All,
Plugged in my Galaxy Ace into one of my USB ports, got the device plugged in sound, system checked for Android drivers and installed latest windows 7 ones however, I cannot see the phone in either my C/Hard Disk Drives or C/Devices with Removable storage.
Is there something I should be doing? I am cooking with Windows 7 32bit Ultimate.
Your guidance would be appreciated, thanks.

Please run TDSSKiller.
Please download TDSSKiller from here and save it to your Desktop.
The log for the TDSSKiller can be very long.  If you go to the bottom of the log to where you find Scan finished you will see the results of the scan.  If it shows Detected object count: 0 and Actual detected object count: 0, this means that nothing malicious was found and you will not need to post the log.
1.  Doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then click on Change parameters.
2.  Check Loaded Modules, Verify Driver Digital Signature, and Detect TDLFS file system.
If you are asked to reboot because an "Extended Monitoring Driver is required" please click Reboot now.
3.  Click Start Scan and allow the scan process to run.
4.  If threats are detected select Cure (if available) for all of them unless otherwise instructed.
 ***Do NOT select Delete!
Click on Continue.
5.  Click on Reboot computer.
Please copy the TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt file found in your root directory (typically c:\) and paste it into your next reply.
Note:  The log may be very long.  You may need to break it into parts to post the whole log.
Do not post the log at a host website where it will have to be downloaded.  I will not download anything to my computer unless I know exactly what it contains.

It has always worked well.
However I also want to access it on my android phone.
BUT still also on my computer.
Added the account to the phone and it will send mail fine. But nothing is being received.
Not sure if I have to alter settings somewhere? But will that affect me receiving mail in windows mail?

I know I sound crazy but I am starting to miss Itunes. I had my MP3 folder with a batch of copied stuff from my main archive. It was organized for Windows. Most of the time Itunes was easy to use in that I droped the folder into it and made it my default folder so I could delete stuff from the MP3 folder via itunes it processed it and bam working very few issues. I never got duplicate playlist had some improperly removed mp3 files which stuck in itunes.

Right now I am having so many issues updating my mp3's and playlists and with duplicate playlists, empty playlists its driving me nuts. How do you manage and sync songs for android without a ton of issues? I was jsut copying the folder over but the dump way android handles files I can not use my windows sync programs. I got tired of it screwing things up so I tried winamp and it just had to sort everything in a horrible incoherent manner(album/artist folders ,ect) and that did not fix any of my issues. Out of the few players I like I like Shuffle and Rocket player but as far as I understand it they don't control anything they just play. Right now I have 50GB of mp3's on my micro sd card and its reporting 80k music files.... its nonsense....

I am just so lost.

A:Best way to sync mp3 folder to an android phone?

Hi. Calm down! I guess you just changed from iPhone to Android phone not long ago? Once you plug in your Android, you should see a portable device folder where you can manage all the files in your Android. If this doesn't work, there are also many desktop syncing programs just like iTunes, such as iTools, Apowersoft Phone Manager, MobileGo, etc. However, personally, I would recommend you to use wireless apps like AirMore for managing Android files on web or Pushbullet for transferring files in a fast way.

I have downloaded several both free and paid Android solitaire games from Google Play Store that are always attempting to connect to the Net. Going off line sometimes stops them from working, altogether. Since there appear to be dozens of them, can anyone give me the name of one that is just a simple game like the old problem-free Windows Solitaire?
