Bent Yoga 710-14IKB.

Q: Bent Yoga 710-14IKB.

Hello, I came here to ask Lenovo Staff for any feedback. Week ago I've bought Yoga 710. After few days of use its front left corner went up, it became unstable on flat surface. Pads aren't the problem and everything is fine if notebook is closed. I left it open with some book to keep it flat over night to see if it helps, it did but only for a while. I've search through this forum if anyone had such issue and Lenovo Support members claimed several times that it should be returned as this is covered by warranty. Sides are stiff and solid but the whole front is pretty much flexible. I could flex it myself but this can damage internal parts which I'd like to avoid. So I took pictures, contacted local Lenovo Support (Poland) about it. Surprisingly they've refused to help by claiming that this is "cosmetic defect". I've asked twice, told them about statements here and I don't blame them, but there's clearly some misunderstanding. Here's the picture of how it looks like. It would be great if someone could clarify why I can't receive warranty service while I read here others did. I still have week to return it to store but this model (with Kaby Lake) isn't available anymore so they can't replace it for me and yet it's not their fault. I'd like to keep it, stay fair and have my issue resolved. Best Regards, Simon. o/

Preferred Solution: Bent Yoga 710-14IKB.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My brand new Yoga 720 is seriously bent (one corner is up by 3 mms). I have sent back immediately to offical Lenovo service. They sent it back with a report that it is fully operable. Since then, I have a wedge in my notebook case and all I have to do is put it under my notebook if I use it. Now I know which brand not to buy next time.

Hi, I bought new Yoga 900-13ISK (ornage) 3 months ago. I've just realized that sometimes it is not quite stable on a flat table (it swings a little bit). What is more worrying - I am able to straighten it just by stressing all laptop corners with my hands. After some time the problem occurs again. This mean that some part of the laptop (aluminium bottom casing, frame or sth that is reponsible for making the computer a stiff is not working ok... Or maybe it is a feature?  Anyone noticed sth similar?  Jacob

Hey. I bought my Yoga 520-14IKB (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256gb NVMe SSD, GeForce 940MX) 2 month ago, had no problems, till last week. Now sometimes i experience such a strange behaviour. Mainly i work on my laptop in normal mode, and sometimes, during such work, it can false trigger a tablet mode for a few (2-3) seconds (notification appers), which causes the keyboard to switch off for this time, despite the fact, that it still stands as a normal laptop, not even close to position, which triggers the yoga mode. How can i fix this? System is Windows 10 April 2018 Update, have all the latest drivers and latest version of BIOS.

Hello!I am trying to find out if DisplayPort is supported on the following two models: - Yoga 710-14IKB (80V4003LMX)- Yoga 900S-12ISK (80ML000RMX) I need to drive UHD TVs (4K at 60fps) and various high resolution displays using DisplayPort (HDMI 1.4 only supports 4K at low refresh rates).  It seems to be difficult find out looking through the documentation provided by Lenovo. I have come across some info though: Yoga 710-14IKB:The documentation on  http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/700-series/yoga-710-14/#80V4000GUS under "Ports" states that: "Micro HDMI?""DisplayPort? (combo with HDMI?)" This indeed seems to indicate that DisplayPort is supported, but I cannot find any info on how this works. - Is DisplayPort supported by the Yoga 710?- If so, what kind of adapter is needed, and where can this be found? Yoga 900S-12ISK:This machine has an USB-C "USB 3.0 port with Video-out". I have found a Lenovo USB-C to HDMI Adaptor-NA (GX90K37871):    https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-usb-c-to-hdmi-adapter-external-video-adapter/specs/but so far I have not seen any USB-C to DisplayPort adapter from Lenovo. When an USB-C port has video capabilities, it is usually DisplayPort available (I have seen reviews of Yoga 900S that this actually is the case for the Yoga 900S. - Is DisplayPort supported by the Yoga 900s?- If so, what kind of adapter is needed, and where can this be found?&n... I just noticed my 2.5 month old all in one laptop is bent. After less than 10 uses (been busy so didn't get enough time to use it yet). You can see from the pictures how bad this is. I can actually insert my finger nail behind the screen a bit. I didn't notice this but I'm very frustrated. https://s11.postimg.org/599l1rk03/IMAG2026.jpghttps://s16.postimg.org/qot2kzww5/IMAG2021.jpg

I got my first Lenovo Yoga 710 around 1.5 weeks ago, and noticed something immediately when I opened it up. The metal "case" or laptop bottom was uneven. The bottom right side of the laptop is sorta bend from factory, the rubber part does not even touch the table when I put the laptop down. It isnt much, maybe a few millimeters, but whenever I use the laptop I hear and feel it rocking back and fort and making a clicking sound against the table. I really didnt expect this from such an expensive laptop.  So, I contacted the store I got it from, and they ordered a new one from me. And guess what, the new unit is JUST the same. I looked at their display model and it sat flush with the table, rock solid. Did they just ship a bad batch of laptops with uneven surfaces, seeing that both the laptops I got is uneven?  To be spesific, its the Yoga 710 14"ISK (I think). Anyone else experienced this themself, or know what I should do?

I currently have a 2 month old Yoga 11s.  I use it mostly as a tablet or in tent mode and its perfect for holding with one or two hands.  Yesterday at church I was taking notes on it with my trusty little stylus when I noticed the chassis has a bow in it.  I have a simple theory as to why this is happening.  It comes from holding the yoga in Tablet form in portrait orientation.  There is a tiny gap caused by the hinge design and the feet of the laptop.  If you hold your hands in the middle of your tablet your squeezing the keyboard and screen together causing it to deform under its own weight. I'm thinking of contacting yoga and asking to purchase two extra orange feet.  I want to know if placing them in the middle will cause the screen to stop flexing.    My greatest fear is that they are two thick and this idea won't work or I will have to sand them down a bit in order to keep the gap equal.  So I'm curious if I'm the only one has this issue?  Flip your yoga around or just take a simple ruler on the keyboard to see if yours is deformed.  I've noticed that this thing really flexes under any pressure.

A:Does your Yoga have this issue, Chassis bent /bowed

Yes. Yoga bought yesterday, and is clearly bent. No need for the ruler. I'm returning it this afternoon.

I purchased my 910 around June of 2017 and 99% of the time it is on my desk connected to desktop speakers. I noticed a couple months ago that it was not laying totally flat. The back right and front left were off and the computer would slightly teeter up and down when I typed. Previously it had layed perfectly flat and closed correctly. It has gotten worse and since I had previously ignored it, thinking one of the rubber stubs must have come off, I decided to inspect. I have definitely come to the conclusion that the top of the keyboard and the bottom (in the exact middle) are warped, they are bloated towards the middle like a slight bubble. The computer now sits back and when lay my hands on it to type the front will go down and touch while the back goes up. I also cannot close the computer all the way. Since the middle bubbled, the screen hits that and the edges can be pushed down all the way but once let go the screen sits about half an inch above the edge. Disappointing for a $1000 computer. The only reason I can come it with for it is possibly being a heat warp? The upper left hand corner gets incredibly hot to the touch if the computer is left on for a couple hours. Not entirely sure. Help? Thanks.

Hi there, hopefuly someone from Lenovo is reading this. After a month of fairly using my Yoga 710 one night my screen just would not turn on. I  connected it to TV via HDMI to find out if laptop works at all, and it did just fine, except the screen. So I brought it to my local  authorized service, to check it out. Surprisingly my warranty claim got denied because of mechanical damage - frame of the laptop is bent. Check the pictures. I contacted the reseler where i bought my laptop and they denied to replace my laptop because of the damage which is done by me as they suspect. Laptop was used less than 50 times at home while handling it carefully, there is no way i could bent the frame of my laptop. So Lenovo, any solutions to this?  Pics:https://imgur.com/a/LJzethttps://imgur.com/a/MurGb

A:Yoga 710 IKB 14 issues, black screen, bent frame, horrible experience

Hi kriscv,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Seems that it fault on the LCD assembly due to the mechanical issue. It has been investigated by a Lenovo service center and that they have concluded that such is not covered by the hardware limited warranty as stipulated:
".. failure or damage resulting from misuse, abuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, natural disasters, power surges, improper maintenance, or use not in accordance with product information materials"

This is also the same conclusion from the store of purchase so at similar cases, it is the user that covers the cost for repair for both parts and labor not unless that you have purchased additional accidental damage warranty. You can try calling in technical support in your region for their recommendation.

Regards

Hi MichaelG4,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

There is only one port available to accommodate storage on this model.
Storage specification: M.2 slot,  2.5-inch, NGFF, 128 GB / 256 GB, SATA II/SATA III (Lenovo YOGA 710-14ISK/Lenovo YOGA 710-14IKB) (page 6 on the hardware manual)

On this model, an external USB SSD storage drive can be the most practical and useful tool for added files which is would also allow transferability to different work PC.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hey everyone! Recently I'm thinking about how to use two operating systems on my Yoga without the need of dualboot. After some research I found out that many mainboards aren't able to boot from USB 3.0 or upwards. Since USB2 is way too slow for a decent performance, I'd like to refrain from that as an option. Been checking the UEFI and have only seen the option boot from USB, which does not specify if it's able to boot from USB3.0 (that has often to be differentiated). Now, I don't own a external ssd with USB 3, so I cannot test that myself. So, does the Yoga 510-14IKB support booting from USB 3.0 devices? Kind regards,kazumo P.S.: Does anyone know the technical aspect to why booting from USB 3.0 is not available everywhere? Been trying to figure it out and so far I don't see a reason why, since USB 3.0 has two lanes, one of which is equal to a USB 2.0

Recently i noticed that this problem can be reproduced on pressing or tapping the area above the keybaord close the where the screen hinges are which led me to think this may be a hardware issue. I have not damaged this laptop ever and it has been kept in very good condition. How shall I proceed.   Thanks
