Korean Visual Studio .NET Help File Update(Nimda virus): June 13

Q: Korean Visual Studio .NET Help File Update(Nimda virus): June 13

Hiya

The Nimda virus has been detected within one of the compressed help files included in the Korean language version of Application Center Test (ACT). ACT is a component of the Korean language versions of the Visual Studio .NET.

In all analyzed scenarios, Microsoft considers the likelihood of activating the virus to be extremely low, if not impossible.

Microsoft has released an update that eliminates the infected files from an existing installation of (Korean) Visual Studio .NET.

System Requirements

Any one of these Korean releases:

Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect, Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Developer, Visual Studio .NET Professional, and Standard editions of all Microsoft developer tools, including Visual Basic .NET, Visual C++ .NET, and Visual C# .NET.

Operating System - Windows NT 4.0 & 2000, Win XP

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the visual studio .net 2002. Is there any downloadable patches or upgrades to support a file that is being written / coded from visual studio .net 2003 to visual studio .net 2002?

My friend and I discovered lately that when you create a project (e.g. vb .net win app) in vb.net 2003 then save it and you want to open it again but in vb.net 2002, the project you created using vb.net 2003 cannot be opened using vb.net 2002.

On the other side, when you try to create and save a project in vb.net 2002 and you try opening it in vb.net 2003, there is really no problem, cause vb.net 2003 will convert a project (a message will prompt you and will give you a choice if that project should be converted) that was save under vb.net 2002.

Anyway, is there any updates of visual studio .net supporting projects that was created on vb.net 2003 and opening those project(s) using vb.net 2002?

Any help is highly appreciated.

A:Migrating Visual Studio .NET 2002 to Visual Studio .NET 2003

i had this problem the other week (downloaded an article from codeproject or codeguru, but wouldnt load in 2002), im not sure of any patches that will fix the problem, but there is a work around if you dont mind altering certain project files.

The problem is with ProductVersion within the .csproj files, they are different between 2002 and 2003. If you alter them to the previous version they will then loadup. You may also need to alter the .sln file as well (again compare a 2002 ver that loads and the 2003 ver). Not giving any promises about it working, but it did work with the project i had.

I guess it would be quite easy to write a little utility that would go through a project and alter the said files. Dont know how many people would find use of it though.

Ok, previously to get something from a database to a variable in a web based app the code went something like this:
DataAdapter.Fill(Dataset1)

after the dataset had been filled in this way a variable could be set by

variablex=dataset.tables(0).rows(0).items(0)
Now, after converting the project and all associtated files I've got SQLDataSource to use.

So, after lots of fruitless searching I'm asking just how the above statement translates to work as a means of retrieving a field from an SQLDataSource?

Hello everyone,
I am using Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
I want to know that do I have to first download Visual Studio 2012 and then install Visual Studio 2012 update 1 or do I just have to install Visual Studio 2012 update 1 and will that cover all the features of VS 2012 ??Next I want to know that if there is a 64bit version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate, because I am yet unable to find it ? Some people are saying that Microsoft only released the 32bit version, is that true ?

Thank You.

A:Do I have to download Visual Studio 2012 and then update 1

Yes you'd have to install the main programme first and I don't believe it comes in 64-bit yet but there is a special version for Windows 8 here that supports both x86 and x64 architecture: Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8 | Microsoft Visual Studio

I don't use it myself so can't advise on how to get it working.

Navigating in a Visual Studio .NET 2003 or Visio file dialog has become incredibly slow. Each directory I go into takes forever to load. I saw the post about this at: http://www.techsupportforum.com/comp...ic/9196-1.html and I tried the solution but it isn't meant for my problem. In that case the initial file dialog window was opening slowly. My window opens fast but navigation is slow. All other applications on my computer have the file dialog run fine.

Has anybody else seen this?

Thanks,

A:Visual Studio and Visio file dialog slow

Since this is one of the top Google hits for this problem, I'll give a solution even though it's way late. I had this problem (in both VS 2003 and VS 2005) because I had mapped a network share to a drive letter, and that share was no longer available. Every time it tried to open a new directory, it would read all the drives and have to wait until the missing network share timed out.

In summary: if the file dialog is slow, try unmapping your network shares.

A:Visual Studio 2015 Crash on Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Applications don't always migrate correctly to a new build. So sometimes, you are forced to re-install them.

This is not a problem with "the new windows", it's a problem with the app migration during the upgrade. Re-installing makes things correct again.

To all,
I know I am just looking at it wrong, but I am in college and have a Microsoft Dreamspark account.  Dreamspark allows you to get all types of software for classes, such as devolper tools, Visual Studio, Win Server etc.

The program launches a secure download client, a mini type of filezilla, and down loads a folder with a .ISO file in it.
Now usually I just double click it and burn it to a DVD.
Start the DVD and issue solved.  But this .ISO is 6.87GB, over the 4.3GB limit of DVDs (standard ones that is).  Dont see a option using USB Easy 123 for this, and the stupid Windows 7 USB DVD download tool states the ".iso file is not vaild"

So either my .iso is crap, or I need someone out there to thow a program name out that will auto boot this to the USB stick.  I got work to do.

thanks in advance
CZ

A:Running .ISO file from USB flash drive. Visual Studio 2013

UPDATE:
So again I answered my own question.  In Windows 7 & higher, you dont need a converter tool, all you need is a compression tool like 7zip, or WinRaw, or whatever.  You can get 7zip under downloads here at B.C.

So if you have a .ISO or .IMG file.  Open 7zip after you down load it, browse inside 7zip to the .iso file, and double click on it.

Boom, you will get all the packaged files in it.  Run the .exe installer and on my way to DOING VB.... Nooooooooo

Hello!

I am trying to install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 from the following link.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/down....aspx?id=48145

I pick the x64 version, because that is what my computer is. However, after downloading, when I try to install it by running the program, the progress bar fills fine until the very end, where it freezes. This is shown in picture 1.

When I press cancel, a quick box opens up asking if I'm sure, and when I click yes, the screen looks like what is shown in picture 2.

And so I click on the log file, and it shows me this:

It looks to me like the rasman.dll on my wife's computer is linking dynamically to some api-* dll's that are not on in her System32 folder, but which are all in mine. We have identical computers that we bought at the same time, in the same store. The api-*
dll's that are in her System32 folder are exactly the ones that are listed for Windows 8.1 in the article for KB2999226, but my System32 folder has dozens of other api-* dll's, including all the ones referenced by rasman.dll. Looking at Programs and Features,
I see that the versions of Visual C++ on her computer and mine, are not all the same, so maybe it's one of those that installed those dll's on my computer. Surely there is some way to find out what dll's are installed with each version of SDK, Visual

If I can't find any better way to install those dll's on my wife's computer, then I might just try copying them from mine to hers.

Hi there
I'm just messing around a bit with Visual Basic - I just want to use EXCEL (mainly) and a couple of really simple Windows stuff. I can't be bothered with C# or .NET -- I'm not (nor intend to be) a professional programmer -- but would like to have a go with some small applications and get to grips with the Basic in EXCEL.

I've got the old Ms Visual Basic 6 disks -- is it worth while messing about with these on W8 (Ms believe it or not is going to support the platform through W8 releases !!!) or should I just bite the bullet and download Visual Studio express which seems a bit overkill also for what I'm really trying to do.

As I'm running a 32 bit version of Office it would seem that most of the VB6 stuff could run quite simply in EXCEL 2010 (32 bit) even though my OS is x-64 --or I could even run it in an XP VM.

Any suggestions as to which is the better way to go -- I just want this for casual use -- not as a professional.

A:Visual Basic 6 or Visual Studio for EXCEL use

Doesn't Office 2010 still support VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)? I think that is what you mean by Basic in Excel?

As far as supporting VB6 in Win 8, VB6 apps do run in Windows (32 bit), though we've had issues at work with some 3rd party components. I'm pretty sure 64 bit is out for VB6! I couldn't get any VB6 executables to run on my Windows 7-64 box, though they will run just fine in an XP VM.

I think your options are VBA in Excel if you want to stick with classic VB...

Hi. I don't know what has happened but my pc is running strangely recently. For example, I can't install the visual c redistributable (vcredist.exe), or directx 9.0c, and some games don't work which did a while ago - now they crash to the desktop. I haven't got a restore which fixes the problem. It is all a bit strange.
I've got windows 7 64 bit on a Dell vostro - i7 860, 4g ram etc.
I've tried microsoft security essentials, all manner of spyware removers including spyware search & destroy to no avail.
What should be the next step in investigating this?
Thanks for any help!

A:can't install visual c redistributable, or directx 9.0c, can't update - security update for visual c++, system update...

Microsoft Windows 7 already has DirectX 11, so installing version 9 will always fail and is useless. It also has VC++ redistributable 2005 and 2008. The latest version which is not included on Windows 7 is VC++ 2010 redistributables which you should install (but very few games are designed in VC++ 2010 today). When games fail, they create a crash report or log. You should go through them and try to find the possible cause. What message do games show when crashing?Check Event Viewer to find the possible cause of crashing of a game.

I have windows XP. Recently, I downloaded mcafee from my internet provider, before I had AVAST.
About a week after or less after installing mcafee
I kept getting Vundo.trojans and other trojans like trojan.gen that mcafee supposedly caught.
During this time, I started getting insane amount of pop up ads. And all those Antivirus/scan now ads.
Also, i cannot seem put "on" my windows automatic updates.
About a week ago, I got user account called nimda.
I tried removing it with Symantec's NimdaA and E removal tool, but to no avail. I have read other ways to remove this but seem over my head. How can I tell which Nimda I have.

I am trying to fix my girlfriend's laptop. It originally had this problem (which still isn't totally fixed)http://forums.techguy.org/windows-xp/942558-laptop-will-boot-into-safe.html

However, after I got access to the computer I noticed that there was a program "Sample" that I had to manually close in order to reboot. I did a search and found a thread on here that says it's most likely the Nimda virus. I am about to do a full virus scan (I'm downloading Avast now) but I went ahead and got HijackThis.

Last night, Norton alerted me of an infected file with the extension .eml. It tried to repair, couldn't, then deleted it. Then another one came up, and another, there were quite a few. I began to realize that these files weren't real files - one was called c:\alicia keys something.eml so I looked on my c drive, but I didn't have a file like that. After clicking OK to Norton's many prompts, I checked the log - 192 entries during that 2-minute attack. I then took myself off the internet and did a full system scan, and in the end, I had no viruses. I tried researching this nimda virus, but it's so confusing. That's why I'm asking if that was just a virus attack, and because I have Norton and all is updated, I survived that attack without getting infected? I recall reading during my research that the nimda virus tries to recreate itself with another file name with the .eml extension, so is that what it was trying to do, and it was just getting caught by Norton every time? Thanks for you help.

A:Is this what the nimda virus looks like?

.eml is an Outlook express email. There are two ways you may have caught the virus. When someone (probably unknowingly) sent you an infected email Norton detected it. But from your description, it sounds like you went to a web site whos server had been infected, os it asked you to download an infected file.

When trying to download a macromedia file I received a message stating that my computer had been afffected with the virus [email protected] I found 7 vir. files and deleted them from my hard drive. I rebooted and I still get the message that the nimda virus is still on my hard drive. I ran a McAfee virus scan and it did not find anything. Any other suggestion other than formatting?

I'm having trouble getting rid of the Nimda virus. I think it's the A strain. I've tried everything and have read many of the posts here. Every time I think I get rid of it, it keeps coming back. Couple basics first - running W98 and Office 2000 on a shared peer to peer network with five computers. Here's what I've done to try to rid myself of this. I've run NAV after having downloaded the latest updates. I've downloaded the Nimbda virus removal tool from Symantec's site. (It says it finds the virus and removes it after running it.) I've replaced the Riched20.dll file from the original start-up disks. Plus, I've run the repair function of Office 2000. I've done this on each of the PCs individually (while the others are powered down). I'm trying to avoid completely reinstalling windows. I'm running out of options. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Also, I keep finding these wierd .exe files in my start-up programs. I do a find for them, but they're not there.

BTW - Everyone that runs this forum is great. The posts have saved me several times. Thanks.

So I'm not sure what happened earlier today...I may have clicked a popup - but suddenly my computer started running REALLY slowly, so I restarted. But when everything booted up, there were no desktop icons and no Start Menu. I found that these signs correspond to the "F-Nimda Virus," but I'm unsure if that's what happened. I've tried the directions on ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/shellfix.txt, but whenever I enter "c:\shellfix.reg" into the "New Task" dialog window in Task Manager, it tells me that it can't find it. Maybe I'm doing that wrong? I ran my AntiVirus program and it found and quarantined 2 files, but after I restarted the computer, the same thing happened. I ran a HijackThis scan...the log is below.
