I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just wanted to ask to be  sure.  So i want to buy the Lenovo legion y540 laptop with rtx 206, i5 9300H, and 8 GB of ram but once get it i immediately want to upgrade my ram to atleast 16 GB. I found a 16gb ram compatible with the laptop (Crucial SO-DIMM 16GB DDR4 2666MHz CL16 Ballistix Sport LT)  so i would have 24 gb of ram  but I am not sure if it won't cause any issues that i will have 1 stick with 8 gb and 1 with 16 gb. Does someone know more about this ? thanks for any help and info

Hi,I am interested in purchasing a Lenovo Legion Y540 gaming laptop (the 15-inch version). After configuring it I noticed that the keyboard is in German. Is there a way to change that? I currently live in Germany, so I guess that's why I am offered the german version, but I am much more comfortable with an English keyboard. Thank you for your help!

After some effort, I finally got a Shipment Notification for the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Generation Part Number 20KH002HUS that I ordered last Wednesday. It was shipped from North Carolina rather than Hong Kong. The Order Visibility Portal (OVP) provided the Serial Number. With it I was able to find-out which of the two thermal modules (fans) is installed on my X1 Carbon. The Lenovo PC Support website shows that it is Part 01YR203 made by Furukawa (Nidec) rather than Part 01Y204 made by Delta. Suddenly, excitement turned into disappointment. Are all Nidec fans on the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Generation noisier than Delta fans? What has been your experience?

So I found out that when I use the laptop unplugged it starts lagging, and it's very notorius. Every like 10 seconds it laggs input. This is so annoying that makes it unusuable. This only happens to the trackpad, I tried with a USB mouse and it works fine.

Hi,I'm looking at preferably the RTX2060 version of the Y540 laptop and was hoping I could get some questions answered please? I've posted on another couple of threads but thought it maybe best to have all my questions in one place. So the main thing for me is fan noise when doing light tasks such as surfing the web and MS Office. How do the fans perform i.e. do they go up and down, getting faster then slower etc or are they quiet all the time? Just sent an Omen 15 back because the fans were too loud just surfing the web.Does the RTX2060 version definately have hybrid (optimus) mode?Just one M.2 slot right? And I take it there are no issues with installing a 2.5 inch SSD?Anyone have experience with shipping in the UK? Says 3-4 weeks delivery but who knows, I've heard the distributer from Ireland is pretty awful. Many thanks, really appreciate any help, especially on fan noise during light tasks.

First post here so be nice.   I have the Y540 15IRH I believe, it has the i5 9300H, 1660Ti and 8GB RAM with the 144Hz panel. I'm trying to enable the iGPU because battery life using the 1660Ti all the time is abysmal, I know that the i5 9300H has an integrated UHD 630 but I cannot for the life of me find out how to turn it on.  Device Manager only shows the 1660Ti under Display Adapters, I have installed the Intel Video Driver from Lenovo's site but it still does not appear there. Trying to install the newest video drivers from Intel's site throws up an error message telling me my computer does not meet the minimum requirements. I've updated the BIOS to the newest version on the Lenovo site, I've had a look in there and there are no options relating to the GPU. Can anybody help me? I'm tearing my hair out over here!

Earlier this week I stood up while holding my Y540.  The power brick, which is quite heavy, fell off the desk and ripped the power cord out of the DC-IN power jack.  The plastic clips that hold the power cord in place were destroyed, and now I can't get a stable power connection anymore. I'd like to replace the DC-IN power jack on the motherboard.  The problem is I can't seem to find the part anywhere.  Lenovo won't sell it to me (it's an FRU only part) and I can't find anywhere online that sells an 81Q4 power jack. Does anyone know if there are other compatible DC power jacks I could use for my Y540?  I'm quite comfortable replacing parts on a system board, I only need to find the appropriate part.   Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hello, Just recently purchased the Legion Y540, and I'm trying to figure out how to control the fan speed. I've been through 3 chat sessions with Lenovo, no luck there. So far it seems the only way to control the fans is with Extreme Cooling through Lenovo Nerve Center. I've downloaded the most recent version of this program, and that function is not there. Only 2 of the 4 functions are there (Prevent Mistaken Input and Network Priority). Looking through the forums, this seems to be a common problem with Nerve Center on other Lenovo computers. Lenovo can you please fix this program? I have updated my BIOS to BHCN28WW (Also tried BHCN27WW, as provided by the Lenovo Support Specialist in chat), the most recent one, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Nerve Center, no luck anywhere. Lenovo Vantage seems to have very limited control option ("Performance Mode" = "Higher CPU usage, higher fan speed"? What if my GPU usage/temp is high but my CPU isn't, so the fans won't kick in?). Just looking to keep my gaming laptop cool while gaming. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I'm trying to decide between the Lenovo Y540 and the Y740. However I need to use it with an Oculus Rift S, which requres that the Display Port is connected directly to the GPU, the same way the HDMI port is. Can anyone please verify that this is the case, and that the Y540 and/or Y740 will work with the Rift S? Many thanks! ed: Should also ask: Does it depend on the GPU being used? If so, which GPUs in which Yx40 models are definitely Rift S compatible?

Hi, Still trying to decide on the display type when buying this Legion Y540 laptop. I have not got enough awnsers. I asked before in this thread : https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Laptops/y540-60hrz-vs-144hz-display-differences/m-p/4515501#M304... , And was adviced this page : https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Lenovo%20Laptops/Lenovo%20Legion%20Y540-15IRH/Lenovo_Legion... I dont think its enough. I want to know conclusively, if there are any other differences between the 300 nits 60hz and 144hz display panels aside from the framerates. Now i know they will have the same color gamut, and brightness, but what about response times? Cant find anything about that. And what about the bits? Are they 6 bit ( +dithering maybe ) or 8 bit? Are they the same panels ( ie brand etc. ), with the only difference being the framerate? Or are they different ( ie brand / response times / etc ). I find the specsheet lacking. Sorry for the many questions, i am merely trying to pick the best laptop for my son with the money i can afford, and i get a little "carried away" on specs etc. I mean its only 50euro differnce between the 2 panels, so if anything other than the framerates is inferior on the 60 hz panel, i think i will go with the 144hz panel. If they are exactly the same apart from framerates, i will go with the 60Hz panel and save 50eu to maybe spend it on insurance or something. Please help a me make a good, informed choise and make my son ... Yes, as the title suggest, I have a question about fans. Right now I have a computer that can actually heat my small room. First off, I have four sticks of RD RAM that have the heat spreaders on both sides. You can fry and egg on these things. Then I have an Asus fanless 7600GS, the heatsink on this gets fairly hot.

I have two rear 80mm exhaust fans, one spins at about 4300RPM and the other is about 2400RPM (I think its on its way out, going to replace both). When I put my hand back there, its pretty hot, almost like a blow dryer. I want to add an extra fan or two but I can't decide what would be best, I would like to ask your opinions on this.

First I thought of adding a front intake fan, but my case only has that small front vent that almost underneath. I have a spot to mount a front fan, but it wouldn't actually be taking in air, theres no vents in the case there. I was also thinking about adding one of those 5.25" drive bay fans for intake. I found a nice one on NewEgg that has two fans, I thought this could help take in some air. Not sure how well they work, I also want to keep the db level down.

My second thought, and the one I think I'm going to go with, is adding a top fan. First I thought to make it an exhaust fan. I see these a lot but I don't know how good they are, do they interfere with the rear exhaust fans?

Then I thought to make a top intake fan. I wouldn't want to pull more in then is being exhausted though, that doesn't... Read more

Q: Fans

What is the proper amount of fans? I have 3 in the back, one on the system board and one on my video card. Yet I have a burnt out DVD drive and one fan in the back is rattling. I've posted before, my computer is old, over 3 years. I'm wondering, if it is not my computer desk. I have a slot that my tower fits into, but is only a few inches from the wall. Do I need more air in the back of my tower? On the sides of it? HOW MUCH AIR DO I NEED? What is the proper amount of fans and the best place for a tower? Thanks

win 7 home premium, AMD phenom II X4 955, MSI mobo. My cpu cooler looks like a tower with 2 fans on both sides. Each fan is screwed to the cooler ( I suppose ) by 4 small screws but they are not easily reachable. Questions:

1. are the fans really dead, they do not turn ? Both are plugged into a single connection on the mobo. (1)

2. If I try to take the fans out, do I risk making the cooler loose from the cpu ? (2)

3. Even without the cpu fans, the cpu temp as measured by AMD overdrive is around 54C when playing games, peaks at 58C. So maybe still ok ? Don't be surprise, my antec 1200 has 7 case fans , one 200mm, the other all 120mm.

I am not good at playing with the inside of the computer such as messing with the mobo and such.

(1) is there any chance that the fans are not dead ?
(2) If as I thought, the cooler is only glued to the cpu by a very thin paste. I suppose that for AMD, the cpu is kept down by a lever; if I pull that lever, it will become loose.

Hey, I was wondering what the difference between 3 and 4 pin fans are?

Thanks in advance.

That is the type of connector, whether it has a 3-pin or 4-pin connector to connect to the motherboard (or maybe it would connect to a fan controller, I'm not quite sure).

Q: Fans?

I am wondering if I were to cut out a place on the bottom front of my access panel and mount a fan blowing inward if this would be of any help. The power supply fan, and the cpu fan exhaust from the top of the box. It is an HP with very limited space to mount anything not stock eqt. I just imagine in my devious mind that if I can force more air in, it is going to be easier for the fans I have in place to move air. I know heat rises and that is my reasoning for putting the fan bottom forward. I also understand static pressure, and would not want to do anything to mess that up.
I work heat and air for a living, but that doesn't go far PC wise.
What do you folks think?

I have an Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, with a very noisy Intel stock fan. Which of the following should I get instead:

Zalman CNPS7000C-AlCu
Thermaltake CL-P0391
Thermaltake Silent P0378

I want it to be as quiet as possible, but effective and not very expensive.

Please let me know which one, or any other suggestions

Thanks.

A:Which of these 3 fans should I get?

cant speak for the other two, but the zalman is silent, and comes with a fan controller that lets you go from 300 -2600 rpm. if you go with the zalman make sure you check the mobo compadability list cuz its big and meeds to clear your capacitors, memory, etc

Q: PC Fans

O.K. not sure right place post this.I was looking to replace my CPU fan with a quieter one,bit noisy. It's 80mm in size.I am not sure of correct RPM's would be efficient enough for the CPU,my specs are listed here.Model of one i have is Delta FHS-A8025S-S999 model AUB0812VH DC12V 0.41A.I was once told Noctua is very good and quiet i put one 90mm on rear of case, may look to get one for front too.Wanted to know if Noctua is good enough it only runs at 1800 RPM'S.Delta i listed runs much faster, from what i can find online about it,maybe 3600 rpm.Not sure if a CPU will require more higher RPM's.What i noticed when i had a ASUS AI Suite,CPU Fan never ran much higher then 1700 RPM,without AI Suite can see it in BIOS.Any suggestions.I attached closest find i can get from specs of the CPU FAN in there now.

Have a look at this:

You can adjust the speed to 1500/2000/2600 rpm.

The case you linked to comes with 3 fans installed, do you want to remove one? There seems little point in this.

or

are you saying that you want to take out two of the 90mm fans and put in a 120mm fan? This is unlikely to be possible, because the screw holes will be in the wrong places

Why do you need to mod the xbox 360? We have a third party fans to support your xbox 360.

Doing the modding and hacking void your warranty.

The red fonts are fans that are already in my casing CM 690 II Advanced

Add A & B and forget about C as it will likely just screw with the flow from the 140 mm and the new B fan
