I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After some effort, I finally got a Shipment Notification for the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Generation Part Number 20KH002HUS that I ordered last Wednesday. It was shipped from North Carolina rather than Hong Kong. The Order Visibility Portal (OVP) provided the Serial Number. With it I was able to find-out which of the two thermal modules (fans) is installed on my X1 Carbon. The Lenovo PC Support website shows that it is Part 01YR203 made by Furukawa (Nidec) rather than Part 01Y204 made by Delta. Suddenly, excitement turned into disappointment. Are all Nidec fans on the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Generation noisier than Delta fans? What has been your experience?

Yes, as the title suggest, I have a question about fans. Right now I have a computer that can actually heat my small room. First off, I have four sticks of RD RAM that have the heat spreaders on both sides. You can fry and egg on these things. Then I have an Asus fanless 7600GS, the heatsink on this gets fairly hot.

I have two rear 80mm exhaust fans, one spins at about 4300RPM and the other is about 2400RPM (I think its on its way out, going to replace both). When I put my hand back there, its pretty hot, almost like a blow dryer. I want to add an extra fan or two but I can't decide what would be best, I would like to ask your opinions on this.

First I thought of adding a front intake fan, but my case only has that small front vent that almost underneath. I have a spot to mount a front fan, but it wouldn't actually be taking in air, theres no vents in the case there. I was also thinking about adding one of those 5.25" drive bay fans for intake. I found a nice one on NewEgg that has two fans, I thought this could help take in some air. Not sure how well they work, I also want to keep the db level down.

My second thought, and the one I think I'm going to go with, is adding a top fan. First I thought to make it an exhaust fan. I see these a lot but I don't know how good they are, do they interfere with the rear exhaust fans?

Then I thought to make a top intake fan. I wouldn't want to pull more in then is being exhausted though, that doesn't... Read more

Hi,I am interested in purchasing a Lenovo Legion Y540 gaming laptop (the 15-inch version). After configuring it I noticed that the keyboard is in German. Is there a way to change that? I currently live in Germany, so I guess that's why I am offered the german version, but I am much more comfortable with an English keyboard. Thank you for your help!

Hi everyone,I've been using a Lenovo Y540 from last month and I have noticed a lag (0.5s to 2s) when I try to Alt + Tab and switch windows.Windows is up to date. Ensured the drivers are all the up to date from Device Manager.I've tried searching online about this and most people suspect and recommend to turn of Focus Assist and I've done that multiple times with no real solution. This seems to be an issue with many recent Lenovo machines. Has anyone here faced this issue and have any solutions for this?

So I found out that when I use the laptop unplugged it starts lagging, and it's very notorius. Every like 10 seconds it laggs input. This is so annoying that makes it unusuable. This only happens to the trackpad, I tried with a USB mouse and it works fine.

First post here so be nice.   I have the Y540 15IRH I believe, it has the i5 9300H, 1660Ti and 8GB RAM with the 144Hz panel. I'm trying to enable the iGPU because battery life using the 1660Ti all the time is abysmal, I know that the i5 9300H has an integrated UHD 630 but I cannot for the life of me find out how to turn it on.  Device Manager only shows the 1660Ti under Display Adapters, I have installed the Intel Video Driver from Lenovo's site but it still does not appear there. Trying to install the newest video drivers from Intel's site throws up an error message telling me my computer does not meet the minimum requirements. I've updated the BIOS to the newest version on the Lenovo site, I've had a look in there and there are no options relating to the GPU. Can anybody help me? I'm tearing my hair out over here!

I have a broken screen on a 2019 Y540 laptop. This is the 300nit 1080p screen. I see a number of Chinese/Taiwanese 4k screens on Ebay for this laptop. Can this PC drive a 4K screen? Where is the best place to buy either a 500nit 1080p or a 500nit 4k screen?

Hi,I'm looking at preferably the RTX2060 version of the Y540 laptop and was hoping I could get some questions answered please? I've posted on another couple of threads but thought it maybe best to have all my questions in one place. So the main thing for me is fan noise when doing light tasks such as surfing the web and MS Office. How do the fans perform i.e. do they go up and down, getting faster then slower etc or are they quiet all the time? Just sent an Omen 15 back because the fans were too loud just surfing the web.Does the RTX2060 version definately have hybrid (optimus) mode?Just one M.2 slot right? And I take it there are no issues with installing a 2.5 inch SSD?Anyone have experience with shipping in the UK? Says 3-4 weeks delivery but who knows, I've heard the distributer from Ireland is pretty awful. Many thanks, really appreciate any help, especially on fan noise during light tasks.

Hello, I purchased a Lenovo Y540 recently with SSD. I have a 1 TB HDD  spare and I want to install it next to the SSD. Im not sure about the warranty. Can I add the HDD myself without voiding the warranty or I need to contact a local shop to do it. My warranty is 2 year basic warranty. I'm located in EU Hungary (purchased in Hungary). The same question goes to RAM upgrade.

I've a 170W power supply from a W520/530 system and I'm looking to see if I can find an adapter to go from that to a Y540.  The Y540 has the slim square plug, the power supply is the round but is notched. (Figure 1).  I already have an adapter that is un-notched (not figure 1).  Does an appropriate adapter exist?  If not, any other suggestions.  I could get a usable 170W power supply with the slim plug, but I'd rather use the power supply that I already have in my possession. It'll be a backup supply for use at the desk, so it won't be traveling. Thanks. Figure 1Not Figure 1

Tested on Lenovo 540, my phone and monitor as laptop 2d screen. Images: F0013 color red, Apex legends(season 4) banner and Revenant art. Before this post, I: changed color profiles, used the Nvidia control panel. Still, the red color on these images has an orange tint to it. The rest of the colors is perfectly fine. My question. Can i fix this somehow, and can I get a refund or exchange for this laptop. I`m studying as graphic design and this is a real problem for me (my 2d monitor is not available outdoors, so it's not a total fix). Thank you for replies.

Earlier this week I stood up while holding my Y540.  The power brick, which is quite heavy, fell off the desk and ripped the power cord out of the DC-IN power jack.  The plastic clips that hold the power cord in place were destroyed, and now I can't get a stable power connection anymore. I'd like to replace the DC-IN power jack on the motherboard.  The problem is I can't seem to find the part anywhere.  Lenovo won't sell it to me (it's an FRU only part) and I can't find anywhere online that sells an 81Q4 power jack. Does anyone know if there are other compatible DC power jacks I could use for my Y540?  I'm quite comfortable replacing parts on a system board, I only need to find the appropriate part.   Thanks for any help you can provide.
