Yoga 11s HDMI won't connect to external monitor

Q: Yoga 11s HDMI won't connect to external monitor

I have a Yoga 11s that started having hdmi connection issues about a year ago and has recently quit connecting to an external monitor via HDMI completely. We tried upgrading to Windows 10 to see if that would overwrite any software issues - no luck. The HDMI port actually appears loose. I did an extensive search of the forum and found posts that recommended cutting down the rubber around the base of the hdmi cord - tried that and at least I had a little activitiy - in the upper right hand corner of the external monitor up popped a box that says DVI then VGA then HDMI - but then says No Signal. Tried the graphics card update recommended on a post from long time ago and a popup indicated I had a newer version already installed. I have taken it to a laptop repair place - said they couldn't get parts from Lenovo. I found an "authorized" Lenovo repair shop locally - when I called they said they only work on business machines Called Lenovo and they told me to take it to Best Buy - however since I purchased this directly from Lenovo, Best Buy said they can't work on it. I would rather not send it into Lenovo because they tried to charge my hubby hundreds of dollars when his 15 day brand new laptop quit working, claiming damage - luckily extensive pictures taken and dated prior to sending it in thwarted that attempt at extortion. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need to be able to do presentations and work remotely with this so it is not very useful to me right now.

Preferred Solution: Yoga 11s HDMI won't connect to external monitor

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Yoga 2 Pro, and I have a Samsung 28" 4k monitor model #u28d590d supports [email protected] over display port and supports 4k @30hz over hdmi. I bought what I believe to a high speed micro hdmi cable might not be.. and could be the problem. But to my understanding is the yoga 2 pro with the i7-4500u processor it should support 4k @ 30hz over the hdmi 1.4a port? Can anyone confirm this? I had the external monitor do some wierd flickering at 4k @ 24 hz, but thats about it. no stable image.

I upgraded to Windows 10 last week and everything was smooth.  Today when rebooting my system, the unit no longer can see my external display.  I have tried multiple other displays and none seem to work.  I have the latest video drivers for Win10 from the support site installed but it still doesn't work.  Any thoughts?

A:Yoga 2 Pro + Windows 10 = External Monitor not working via micro HDMI

I experienced the same - and also inconsistently that the system is going sluggish/lagging heavily. To fix problem with HDMI downgrade to drivers for Win8.1 - it works but hopefully Lenovo will fix this issue with Win10 drivers!? Overall upgrading to Win10 has been a bad experience (regarding the lagging of the system which usually occurs after 20-30 min after logging on). I've tried removing all third-party startup programs (including Lenovos) - but to no help. The frustration is increasing - any tips will be appreciated :-)

Hi,Background on Issue I've had the Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd gen (product # 20JDCTO1WW; BIOS version N1NET46W 1.33) since it came out. It's running the latest build (non-targeted channel) of Windows 10 Pro with all Windows updates and all Lenovo System updates installed (through Lenovo Vantage app), as of this writing. The laptop has only professional/scientific software installed and it's strictly used in a work setting in a climate-controlled office (i.e. no exposure to extreme heat/cold, humidity, dust, etc.) (scientific/professional software like statistic analysis software, Office, browsing company websites and other non-entertainment professional sites, etc.) and there have been no system registry modifications, no 3rd party driver installation, or anything outside of the normal functioning of the system. Windows has never been re-installed/reset from the factory-shipped condition, and I haven't even accessed the BIOS for the first time since it was purchased. There's > 250GB free from the 1 TB SSD, and RAM utilization never reaches > 50% even on the heaviest of workloads. IssueUp to Win 10 OS build 1607 back in 2016-2017, everything was running well. After installing builds 1703 and then 1709, and still now after the 1809 update (updated a couple of months ago, but nothing changed with that update), when I connect the laptop to external monitors (either to one or two 27-inch, 60-Hz 2K monitors [AOC Q2781PQ] outputting at 2K resolution), either... Last week I bought the Lenovo Ideapad 320-15IKB. So far I am pretty satisfied, but I'm having trouble connecting it to my external monitor with a HDMI cable. I've tried multiple HDMI cables, tried the monitor with another laptop and it worked fine, I also bought a USB-C to HDMI converter and that's not working either. So I don't think it's a hardware problem. In the picture I added you can cleary see the laptop detects my external monitor (LG IPS FULLHD) as the second screen, but on the monitor I get a "no signal message". I looked at all the topics similar to mine, but haven't found a solution yet. Anyone familiar with this problem? Thanks.

A:Can't connect external monitor to Ideapad 320-15IKB with HDMI cable

Hi, welcome to the forum.

My guessing on this are  will be:

1) Try the "Windows Key + P" combination, try the extend and duplicate to see if you get an image on the monitor.
2) You already tried different HDMI cables, it may be interesting to also check some other TV that  you may have arround to see if you get image. Also, if you use some apdater (DP to HDMI or other) it may be interesting to try some others.
3) Go to  the support site of the "Ideapad 320-15IKB" and update the BIOS and the Video drivers. Lenovo Vantage can also help you to have you drivers up to date.

After trying that, if you get no good results, maybe it is some hardware issue.

Regards

Hello! When I connect my Yoga 900 laptop to my Samsung external monitor using a USB-C/HDMI adapter, the laptop screen flashes black and the external screen does nothing. Between the flashes I can see my desktop background goes blue and every program/file that is open begins popping up and closing on repeat. Nothing ever shows on the external monitor. The only fix is to unplug the two, but if I let the laptop flash for more than about a minute it eventually goes black. When this happens, unplugging it from the monitor does nothing and it has to be manually restarted using the side button. As noted in other forum solutions, I manually updated all video and chip drivers.I have tested the monitor's HDMI port, the Yoga 900's USB-C port, and the HDMI cable itself. I have also tried a different brand of USB-C adapter. Pressing Windows + P doesn't seem to do much, as I can see the menu between the flashes and click "expand" but nothing happens. Any idea what else I can do? Thank you.

The history appears to show an automatic update occurred overnight.  I was running Windows 8.1.  I upgraded to 10.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the intel video driver, I reinstalled the chipset driver.  I have trimmed the micro HDMI cord as suggested in one of the posts.  I have seen enough posts on the various boards to know my issue does not seem to be an isolated case... but I haven't been able to find an explanation of the cause or a reliable solution.  Any help is appreciated.

I am using a usb-c to hdmi adapter to output to a TV but the black levels look washed out. I had no issues with the same TV and a previous laptop that had a dedicated hdmi port. In the intel graphics settings usually there is a "quantization range" setting to change color space between RGB Limited and RGB Full if the intel graphics is driving the hdmi port. However, in this case, there is no hdmi port but instead a usb-c to hdmi adapter, thus the quantization range setting is missing. I've had the same issue before on a previous laptop with usb-c. I've tried installing thel atest drivers, including the non-validated ones from the intel website, but none give me the quantization range setting.

I am totally in the dark about what kind of adaptors exist to connect an external monitor to my Yoga 900 13isk2 via the USB-C port. I would like to connect to either a DP1.2 UHD (3840 x 2160) or to a dell 2560 x 1600 panel that accepts DP or dual link DVI. I may also wish to connect to a 1920 x 1200 panel via DVI. Where can I find out which products are compatible? I haven't fully understood the implications of USB-C 3.0 vs 3.1 or 3.2. I would probably purchase the necessary part off amazon, and I am based in the UK. Does anyone have a definitive guide to connecting external monitors to the Yoga 900 13isk2? Does HDMI needed to be unplugged and plug back in for it to broadcast a signal from Laptop to an external monitor? Because this seems to be my case at times.

It shouldn't. Does the problem occur during bootup, or while in use?

Also, if it occurs after letting the PC sleep or hibernation, it could be a hardware or OS/software issue.

I have Lenovo B540 All-In-One (Windows 8) whose monitor is cracked and the screen is black. I'm trying to still use the computer or at least access the hard drive by attaching a second monitor through the HDMI Out connect slot in the back. So I purchased the "DVI-D to HDMI (or vice versa)" cable (Dynex brand) for $40 from BestBuy and made the connection to my DVI monitor.

Well, Lenovo turns on but is not recognizing the second monitor! Should it automatically recognize the second monitor or are there some steps involved like pressing down on certain function keys (like you would in laptops)? I've perused Lenovo's hardware support manual but they don't explain proper steps.

Does anyone know what the proper steps are when the original monitor is not working? I know for sure the computer itself is working; it's making all the right Windows start-up noise. No, the computer is not passworded so it should go in straight.

Would it be easier to connect to the TV via HDMI? Would I then need HDMI cables?

Thanks everyone for any suggestions you might have to offer.

A:How to have my All-in-One Recognize External Monitor (via HDMI Port)

To switch between monitors press the "windows key" + "p". repeat this a few time and see if at any point anything shows up on the external monitor.
