It is a panic situation for me. My Outlook 2016 mailbox is not displaying a single email. Machine: HP Pavilion x2 LaptopWindows: Win 8.1 and Office 2013 version I have no clue what happened to my Outlook. Need urgent help!

We have a hydride infrastructure, with E2016 onpremise and O365 (Exchange, teams...). On both sites we have the same users and separate created mailboxes.
We are migrating mailboxes from Ex2016 to O365 in phases to remove E2016.
Users on both sites have the same mailbox name. Example: E2016 [email protected] and O365 mailbox [email protected]
When we migrate a user's mailbox to O365 and from ExchangeOnline we send an email to a non-migrated user, the email reaches the existing mailbox in O365, not the onpremise mailbox.
An alias has been created for non-migrated users in O365, marking themselves as main and we have tried to delete the default email address given by the username. But even if the latter is deleted, the deleted email address always appears, so the email always
reaches O365 and not E2016.

Is there any way that when a user with a migrated O365 mailbox sends an email to a user with a mailbox in E2016 onpremise, the email does not go to the O365 mailbox and to the onpremise mailbox?
What would be the solution to keep the default username (for teams solutions, etc) and to be able to modify the email in O365?

I have a friend who just purchased a Windows 10 laptop.

It came with Office 365.

She has for many year been using Outlook Express in Windows XP.

She wants to move all of her outlook express emails (and sub folder of the Inbox) to the Outlook program on the new windows 10 computer.

Is this possible ??

I have succeed in getting her address book exported and imported but cannot find any info or instructions on how to move the emails and folders.

I do remember that some years back I did a transfer from outlook express XP email to a Windows 7 computer running outlook. But I seem to remember having to have some kind of special software to make this possible.

Can anyone tell me if I am wasting my time or is this transfer a possibility ?

She really does not want to give up all of her old emails.

this started recently, I changed my password on my server hoping to fix this issue, and in Outlook and iPhones and iPads. Every thing works fine except desktop. I have sent an email from outlook.com and it receives just fine. The send and receive box runs through al the checks with no errors.
I can send from a Gmail address but not my regular yahoo account. I have checked everything I can think of but to no avail.
I started getting asked for a password every time I sent out an email, checked remember and then OK and everything would continue, but now I just get email stuck in the outbox.

I recently upgraded to Outlook 2016, and for some reason, some of my e-newsletters have sections blocked (i.e., those sections don't download so a small X appears in the upper-left corner of that section). It doesn't happen with ALL my e-news, only some. I thought it might be a security setting but can't find anything. I have constant malware protection and did full scans several times over the past 10 days.

Any ideas what this could be and what I can do to fix it? Thanks, I'd really appreciate the help.

 Hi Lenovo community, I would like to know if any of you are experience the following issue.  I just purchased a brand new Lenovo X380 Yoga notebook.After multiple trial and errors of freshly setting up an Outlook 2016 profile with a new .ost file, the behavior I noticed is that receiving new emails will NOT appear within seconds or minutes.  It will actually not appear even after 30 minutes.   The mailbox has about 40GB worth of emails.  What I did notice was that when the Exchange cache mode was set to 3 months, then the new emails were seen in a timely manner.  The workaround is to close Outlook and then re-open.  This has to be done very often.  This mailbox account works fine on an X240 system.  I was working with a simliar setup of Outlook 2016 profile on a Lenovo T480 system and didn't have this issue.  The mailbox size of that user account was also 40GB.  With this setup, the Exchange cache mode was left at 1 yr or All.Any repsponse of feedback would be appreciated.Thank you

I have laptops in two different countries and keep an archive of messages on each.
In Windows Live Mail it was easy to export messages to a USB stick, carry it with me and import to the other laptop.
But in Outlook I can't find a simple equivalent although I understand there may be 3rd-party software.
Is there a best solution?

I can see the emails being sent out by outlook on my computer (computer accessing smtp and sending them when outlook is open... sending 1 of 1823). I cleaned the PST, created a new PST and copied my inbox into it. I did a malwarebytes scan, antirootkit scan, adw, found nothing at all.
I was receiving tons of chinese spam, blacklisted the domains from China, but I'm at a loss at how to make the stupid outlook stop sending spam by itself. How does it do it?
Edit: closed outlook, renamed pst, opened outlook, created new empty pst, it's still trying to send 1800 emails....
Edit2: Ok so I went to the webmail, there was still 1000+ mails there in chinese, deleted those, blocked 126.com/163.com/qq.com in the admin panel, then on the computer, I flushed the Outlook Files and recreated the PST.... in the admin panel, it shows 0 sent for today... which is good....
Why am I (seemingly) not detecting any infection if I (was) sending spam? I confirmed that the IP from which the emails were sent was the office's IP... and there's only two computers here and only one with this account... and I physically SAW outlook trying to send loads of emails... I also reset the password...

i had a Win 10 automatic upgrade this morning. i have about 15 email addresses that i monitor. Since rebooting following the upgrade about half of address books are missing. The address book tab is no longer in the properties.

In Outlook 2016 there is a possibility to right click the contact persons folder, afterwards click properties. Here is a tab with 'Outlook address book' is visible.

Unfortunately in our situation this tab is not visible on a shared mailbox. In fact on every mailbox this tab is not present, besides the users own mailbox.

We use using an Exchange 2013 mailserver.

Is this issue known by other people as well?

We are trying to centralize 1 addresbook for all personnel.

A friend called and said his PST file was corrupt. I went there, copied his PST file, brought it home, repaired it using scanpst.exe. Took it back and everything is back to normal except his address book is empty.

I've still got a copy of his PST file here and the address book doesn't show up here either.

In case it matters, we had to create a new log-in profile on his system before we could get Outllook to run at all.

So, where is the address book data?

Ok, Long and Short........

What: Earthlink Mailbox recieves a new message. Then without warning, a new message appears in the outbox and sends, Then, when i check mail again, i get a FW: of the message i just received from someone, it then creates a new message in the outbox, so when i hit check mail, it shows me another FW: with the same message, this happens in a loop and unless i delete the messages from the outbox really fast it will loop.
I have ran, Avast, Avg, Super Anti Spyware, SDfix, Malwarebytes, dr. web cureit all to no avail.......

I have a hijackthis log, but it appears to be normal...
I need another opinion on this one, im the local computer guy and this is a first for me in 20 years.....

I recently installed/upgraded Outlook 2000. Since then many of the emails I've received have indicated who they were from but are blank in both the subject and body of the email. These are all people I'd been receiving emails from with no problem until I installed Outlook 2K. In addition, they are consistent - coming through blank for the same people and always receiving email just fine from the other people. In addition, I have a few email accounts and it "blocks" the same senders regardless of which account they send it to.

I've checked all the settings I could think of in Outlook but can't find anything that would seem to be causing this problem.

First thought - are you running SR2?
Second thought - do these messages contain attachments?

The security 'improvements' in Outlook SR2 take quite a stern approach to almost all attachments and can remove them without notification or warning. I've not heard of subjects being removed though, so this might not be the right path.

Hi, I've search everywhere and have been able to put together the following code. I thought it was working properly but today it basically indicated I didn't have permission. Funny that when I run the script I don't receive the permission error (in fact, ran it 3 times just now just to find the exact wording of the error but it ran fine).

A:Excel VBA scan another mailbox and forward emails

As I indicated the other day, the script was working fine but it seems if I leave it alone and come back to it I receive this error:

Run-time error '-2147024891 (80070005)':
You do not have permission to send the message
on behalf of the specified user.

Not sure why it would work some times and not other times. Any help - either directing me to somewhere that has done something similar - or with the code, woudl be greatly appreciated.

PC is new with Vista O/S and Outlook 2007 freshly installed by PC mfr. Messages received in INBOX disappear one by one each time I select another sub folder to access messages set up by Organize/Rule. The messages disappear from the main INBOX only, not from the sub folders. What would be the proper remedy to fix this problem? Suggestion anyone? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Whats the option selected with a check mark here ? Messages or Unread Messages in this folder ?

Make sure this option is set to Messages.

If this doesn't fix it , export all the rules , delete from the list and then send your self a few test messages. Open Outlook and check if it works well this time. If it does then one of the rules could be playing spoilt sport.

Please help.

Today I discovered to my horror that my emails in my sent items folder in outlook express have vanished. I usually have around 200 Ė 250 emails sitting in there, but when I checked them out the afternoon they had dropped down to only four! (This is my hotmail A/c) on outlook express

I have tried .dbx file extractor software but that didnít work. Also to note my .dbx file for my sent items is only at 445kb in size, not what I would expect for the cache on that folder. So I am absolutely stumped as to where these files have went (?) I am feeling sick to my stomach as I had a lot of important (sentimental) mails in there. If anybody could give me his or her thoughts on anything else I could try, please do.

I have tried everything I can find to solve my problem with no luck!

I have two accounts in Outlook, one is mine and one is my husbands. Server is local internet provider through our telephone company company. I have a business and get a lot of emails daily.....many are left in my inbox so I can go back to them at another time. Here is where the problem lies! I can see emails in the morning and when I go back to these later in the day...they are missing. Usually Outlook shows today's emails, the yesterday, then next day, etc. and stay there until deleted. Well, not any more!

A Dell technician has gone through every Outlook setting and cannot find the problem. The strange thing is that my husbands account is working perfectly. This is a huge problem for me, since many of these lost emails are from customers who are waiting for a reply.

I have gone to my webmail, and the missing emails are not showing there either. I hope there is someone here to can help.

Hi! Whenever I receive and email with an image attached or embedded in the email I cannot see some of the images. For example, there are some clients that have an image logo of their company for their signature and I cannot read it. Other times I get emails with a number of pictures and I get an outline with a Red X on the top left corner for some of the pictures. The weird thing is, that when I hit Reply, I am able to see all the missing images. Please help me figure out why I can see some images but can't see others and if you know of a solution to be able to view all images from the get go. Thank you in advanced.

I turned on my laptop today and it seemed to reset everything. my desktop icons, wallpaper, recent appls used, recent documents was empty, etc.
I then clicked on my documents tab and it was empty. I managed to locate files in my documents by clicking my computer, C drive, user, etc and eventually documents. still when i click on the file an error says it cannot find file, yet when i go into MS word and open via the steps:computer, c drive, user, documents, etc I can open the file there.

When i went to start Outlook 2007, it said i needed to set it up on the wizard, and took me through the account set up and fiel creation. The most vital things is all my emails are no longer in Outlook. can someone tell em how I can retrieve them and where and how to look for them? How can i fix this problem.

My O/S is windows vista and I have MS Office installed. I am running a virus scan with AVAST. Please I hope someone can help.

I would try going to Web mail, almost all ISP providers offer the ability to go to their home page and access your mail from there.

I would do something very quickly before you crash your computer and loose everything.  There are storage limits to how many emails you can keep , this includes the deleted folder and the sent folder.

I've been getting a few emails using Outlook 2007 where the text is missing when I open it but when it in first in the inbox, the auto preview shows some of the text there. Several years ago we had this problem and it (back when we had Win 98 and had upgraded to IE 6.0) and we had to extract mlang.dll from the Win 98 installation CD and replace it.

Mosaic1 posted, " mlang.dll is one of the files which is updated when IE is. If you have extracted a copy from the installation disk, you have the wrong version of it. I use IE5.5SP! and the version is 5.50.4522.1800.

Back then I got no emails with text, this time it appears sporatic. I've scanned the computer with AVG, SUPERAntispyware, Malwarebytes, and all is well. Any suggestions???

I did a repair install (XP home) on a computer today after a virus rendered the computer unusable. All of the data in documents & settings and program files was saved.

When I open Outlook it's as though it was just installed. No messages/contacts/notes/etc..., but all the files within the M$ office folder are intact. Does outlook save its emails similar to outlook express (dbx)? If so, would they be in the office folder and can I get those emails/contacts back? Or would this have been erased when the repair install was done.

In other words, is there any way to get all of this back?

I noticed recently that I was missing some important emails as people would call me and ask what I thought of their response, and I'd say "I never got your response." So I looked in the norton spam folder, and I didn't have them there. I checked webmail and there were emails there that didn't show up in my outlook express.
Then I powered on another older computer that I keep for guests when they visit. I usually keep this PC off. The missing emails were in my CA antispam folder. So I uninstalled CA antispam on that computer. And I turned the PC off again.
Last night I missed 4 more emails that were not in my Outlook Express, but were in my webmail. So I powered on that computer in the guest room and the missing emails were in the inbox.
Why would this happen???? I then removed my account from Outlook Express on the guest computer. Will this fix the problem? If not what should I do- I feel like uninstalling Outlook Express from that computer altogether but it is not an option on Add/Remove Programs.
I don't want to keep missing important emails, so please help!

Go into OEs Message Rules and check there are no filters set.

Make sure OE is actually checking for emails (Tools/Options),

and that you don`t have any other anti spam software running.

Try the Firefox/Thunderbird email solution or Eudora,or one of

I just installed Windows XP on my husband's computer (he had Win 98). Everything went fine, but when I opened Outlook Express 6, it said I had to import messages. I don't know for sure if he'd already had OE6, or if he'd had 5 and it updated while installing XP. Anyway, so I did what it said and imported, but it didn't import everything. The only messages it imported were those between March and August 2002. Nothing newer and nothing older. Needless to say, this upset me and him a lot, because there were some important emails he needed to keep.

First, I tried using all the possible import option it gave me, and nothing worked. It either duplicated those same messages or it just wouldn't do it. Then I tried finding another file on the computer that might have the other messages in it (I searched for "mail," "inbox," and .dbx files), and I came up with nothing - just the emails I already have.

I don't understand what happened. Did it completely delete the rest of the emails or are they hidden somewhere? And why everything but that six-month period? I've already searched around on Microsoft's support page and came up with nothing to explain this bizarre disappearance.

Can somebody please help?! Or at least tell me if we need to suck it up and move on without those messages.. If that's the case, then I think Microsoft needs to do something to fix it - you shouldn't have to lose all your recent emails... Read more

Okay folks wonder if anyone here can offer any advice on this one then ??!!

checked my email account last week via my usual method off outlook express only to be somewhat surprised to see that every one off my stored emails had dissapeared, checked again a while later and now found that my sent messages had now gone also !!

so okay only thing I done last week was to sign up for an alternative email address to go alongside my older wanadoo one, did not delete the wanadoo account, only signed up via the orange homepage for a second account to use to try stop the amount off spam I was beginning to get !!! and was able to sign in and out off each account and check emails from both accounts okay, one strange thing I did notice was that all the stored messages for my old account on the orange homepage email web server were also missing ??!!

now I did not change my original email account within outlook express ie kept the same account etc so why or why are all my email messages now gone ??!! surely orange themselves cant delete messages in your outlook express account can they ??

so okay anyway off retrieving the missing messages from outlook express ?? was advised to go into c:\documents and settings\administrator etc and check the hidden files and try restore them that way but for some reason my pc `s add bar was even recognise c::\documents and settings etc, keep getting a file path not found message .

We are having a little problem with Exchange Server 2000 on Windows Server 2000 where the sotre is nearing the 16GB limit. We have got all users to delete all unwanted emails, and even copied some to PST files. We then set a mailbox limit to 100mb per person. If you go through the list of mailboxes, and add everyone up, it comes to around 10GB, however, the size of the priv.edb is still nearing 16GB. We have also run both an online and offline defrag on the store, but it is still near 16GB. Do we have to run the cleanup agent to remove the emails yet again? If so, can this be one in working hours? Also, if we run the cleanup agent on the mailboxes, will we then have to do another offline defrag?

I opened up My outlook express and all my emails in my inbox were gone along with sub-folders (the i created below inbox). I did a search for .dbx files and found them but cannot open them. How can I save them to another file and/or what program can I use to open them. they are on a path of: docs and settings/connie/local settings/application data/identies/(#'s)/microsoft/outlook express. they all have DBX extensions.

According to all sources that I could find on-line, it appears that rules are part of pst file.

However, this does not happening in my case.

I use outlook 2016 (part of MS office 2016) and have several accounts linked with this ? From my ISP (POP), Hotmail, yahoo, Gmail. I have rules only for account from my ISP.

Recently I deleted my Hotmail account, removed it from my outlook, deleted associated ost file. Then I had second thought and re-activated this hotmal account the following day. Added this to my outlook. To my surprise all rules vanished. Not a single rule remained. I did NOT have any rules setup for Hotmail account. Even column details for message folders (part of setting) got changed.

I decided to check further. Copied my pst files to another computer which had same version of outlook installed and has exactly the same setup.

Now I added some rules on my 1st computer. Checked the 2nd computer. The same rule appeared there. That means pst file does not contain rules.

So, Where are they?

Hope someone can help me. I am lost!!

OK I have read many threads and posts about the solution "ZeroConfigExchange". But it does'nt work for my Windows 10 clients.

When I start Outlook 2016 for first time users it still prompts the "Welcome to Outlook 2016" setup wizard where I have to create a profile.

What am I doing wrong?

An associate gave me his email, which is registered at hotmail.com. I only have his email. I have tried sending emails to him, but all of them hard bounced from both a hotmail and a gmail account. I know the email exists because I have attempted registering with that name at hotmail and it said it's taken. Gmail says that the mailbox could not be found. We originally discussed a Windows Live Messenger conversation.

- could a WLM account work and exist without an accompanying email account?
- what exactly is happening? could it be a hotmail issue? (I can send email from my gmail to my hotmail so not sure about that)

Hi guys,
I'm running Windows XP Pro, Outlook 2003 and an Exchange Server 2003 set up.

There's recently been a need for people in my office to have two email addresses with different domains. e.g. [email protected] and [email protected]

That was easy enough to set up on exchange and I thought my work was all done but now they want to be able to change which address shows up when they send emails externally.

I know I can change which address shows by changing the primary email address on the server but doing this every time they want to change which address their emails are coming from would be a full time job. I've tried setting up the second mailbox on a different user account and then giving Editor permissions to the 'J.Smith' user so they can view it in their folders list and send items from it. The second mailbox shows up in the folder list but when I try to view it i'm getting "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location." so that ideas a bust atm.

Have any of you needed to do this before? How did you get around the users changing the address that appears in their sent mail?

Hi guys,

I have had trouble with Outlook over the last week. The problem is I was on a MS exchange server and had a mailbox. I won't be on the exchange server any more. I have all my information on my pc locally in my mailbox. I want to move everything from one pc to another. I have Archived my items to include everything older than today. But the Archive doesn't include everything up to today. Three months out of date. I have tried to export my Mailbox but Outlook keeps telling me I cannot do that because the file is not a .pst

Help I need to bring everything with me from this pc.

I have tried to work offline and export to a .pst it doesn't work. Help!!!!

Visio files are received as attachments in Outlook 2016. Visio Viewer 2016 and IE11 are also installed on Windows 10 (1607).
Previewing the Visio file (VSD in this case) is successful. However, when you try to open the Visio file, IE11 attempts to open it (as expected) but only displays a blank page.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this issue?   Other articles suggest that Visio Viewer 2016 does not support IE11.

At my work place we have a personal and a team mailbox as, I think many firms do. The thing is that every time I reply to someone who sent an email to our team mailbox it moves to our personal mailbox's "sent items" folder and we have to move it manually. It is very tedious and sometimes I tend to forget to do it, hence the question, how do I automate it? I know it is possible. Hopefully I explained it well enough.

If you give access to someone your mailbox on the Microsoft Exchange Server, and you have "sub-folders" created in this mailbox, can someone tell me if you have to provide "permissions" for each and every "sub-folder"? so the other person is able to view all??

Hi all

I have two users (on separate, networked PCS running Windows 7) that need to both access one email account, including seeing replies/forwards/sent mail.

An IMAP mailbox would be perfect for this but our company email provider can only provide us with POP3.

Is it possible to set up the mailbox file that outlook uses as a shared file and for both clients to access this?

If not what are my alternatives?

Hi badasafish, and welcome to TSG.

I am not sure about Outlook 2007, but I do know that previous versions would not support simultaneous sharing of Outlook files between multiple users.

One possible solution is to have all but one installations of Outlook set to not delete messages on the POP3 server when downloading them to the computer. The one special Outlook account would be set to leave the messages on for a number of days long enough for everyone else to receive their copy. You need to be careful about any storage quota limits on the mail server. If the quota limit is reached, no new incoming messages will be accepted until some older ones are cleared out.

This setup will only show sent messages in the Outlook sent folder on the one computer that sent it. As far as I know, there is no way to easily make it appear in everyone's sent folder. The sender could cc themselves and it would show up as an incoming message for everyone.
