EM7455 crashing X1 Yoga 1st gen after sleep

Q: EM7455 crashing X1 Yoga 1st gen after sleep

Has anybody else seen this or can you recreate the problem? The Sierra Wireless EM7455 LTE card keeps crashing the PC. But exactly as follows..... You are connected to the internet using the EM7455. You sleep the PC while connected. You wake the PC. EM7455 cannot connect again. EM7455 is also lost from Device Manager. A scan for new hardware just hangs and freezes the Device Manager window. The only option is to restart the PC. BUT...if you sleep or hibernate at this point (instead of restart) the PC crashes with BSOD (ntoskrnl.exe error). This happens every time, without exception. All the drivers are the latest, currently 7.44.4709.0102. Firmware is 2.24.03. I tried to upgrade to 2.24.05 from Sierra Wireless but it keeps reverting to 2.24.03 (must be a Lenovo OEM things that prevents the update). Any ideas? (apart from disconnecting before sleep!) Thanks

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hiem7355 doesn't work in European LTE networks, in Sweden including. So, contact the cellular provider supporters to check out the SIM cards options, whether they support 3g network (UMTS/HSPA+) service for em7355.

Hi, as per topic title, the WWAN is not working outside my country. I have a local (national) operator's SIM card and all is ok while using cellular in my country (Slovenia). If I go abroad, I get "NO SERVICE". Now, the SIM card is definitely ok, works in other laptops etc. Just not in my X1 yoga.  Turning ROAMING on or off in Windows 10 /x64 does not make any change. As if the EM7455 is locked for roaming or what? Any idea what I can do before I take the laptop back for warranty claim?ThanksBostjan

I recently installed an EM7455 LTE modem (FRU 00JT542) and antenna kit (FRU 01AW958) in my X1 Yoga running Windows 10 Pro.Drivers installed fine and I have nothing unidentified in Device Manager, and "Cellular" exists in the networking panel (when you click on the network icon in the taskbar). However, none of my SIM cards are being detected by the system. I've tried T-Mobile and Verizon SIM cards (both verified working in other devices) to no avail -- Windows keeps telling me to insert a SIM.I spent all afternoon on the phone with half a dozen Lenovo support reps (and have a ticket open with them) but we haven't made any headway yet. Here are some things we tried:Different Windows 10 installations (the original image on the supplied SSD vs. the one I created and have been using on my 950 Pro): no effectThe Windows 7 Mobile Broadband Activation tool: errorVarious Gobi 5000 Drivers: no effectUpdating UEFI: no effectWindows Troubleshooting: uselessI'm beginning to think it may be a hardware issue with the SIM slot but the reps haven't been willing to admit as much. In addition, I only have the depot warranty which I've heard atrocious things about, so I'd like to avoid that. I was also informed that they don't allow self-replacement of system boards so worst case I'll have to shell out for an onsite warranty.I'll take any suggestions -- even if they're shots in the dark!

We have a number of X1 Yoga 2nd Gen (20JG) w/ EM7455 LTE cards. We have updated all drivers on some machines but we continue to have issues w/ the card at time dropping connectivity to LTE and it not returning until a reboot or a disable/enable of the LTE card. When the connectivity hangs you are unable to ping any IP addresses. This occurs randomly but is seen within an hour of waking up from a sleep.  Lastest driver as of July 29, 2019 has helped some but not fixed the problem. We have tested newer firmware version for Verizon but in those cases when the connectivity issues happen the entire card resets itself losing connectivity anyway. We have tested on Windows 10 1803 and 1903 w/ similar results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi I resently got a Thinkpad x1 yoga gen 2Type 20JE-S1C600S/N R9-0NGFRQ 17/05 As far as I know there should be a Sierra Wireless EM7455 modem in the machine, but i can't get windows to detect it. I doesn't show up in device manager, or in the network setting of windows. It is running Windows 10 Home. 64bit. In bios I can enable or disable WWAN (under security > IO ..), not sure if that means there is a modem, or just a setting thats always there in the bios. There is a slot in the back of the machine for a SIM card, but not sure if that means there is a moden in the machine, or the slot is always there.  I Tried reinstalling the machine, but didn't help.I've made sure there is no pending updates for the machine.   1. Can you guys help confirm if there is a modem in the machine. (If not, then the seller lied to me)2. If there is, how do I get it working ? I did put a SIM card in the SIM slot in the back of the macine. I'm pretty sure it is currectly inserted. There is only one direction where I hear a small click, and the card stays in place.  Thanks Simon

Hello, we got 2x Try-and-Buy Lenovo Yoga Tablet Laptops (an X1 Yoga and a Yoga 260) to evaluate their suitability for our company, since we intend to upgrade several of our employees laptops. However, ever since we got the devices we noticed on both of them frequent issues with the display and waking from sleep. Very often the laptops won't wake up properly with the screen staying black. In those cases the display-backlight seems to turn on, and I assume the system is running somehow in the background. Putting the computer to sleep again (e.g. by closing the lid) makes the computer wake up properly on the second attempt. Different error in the same category is when a video is running and the laptop is connected to AC - plugging out the AC cord made the screen go black while the media content's sound kept playing. All drivers were updated to the newest version via Lenovo System Update 5.07.0029. Any ideas? I also tried to open a support ticket, but Lenovo wanted to send and install a new display (!). Apparently, that seems like a driver/software issue?! Best regards

Hi, I am a semi n00b and I would really be grateful to whomever helps me out. I recently upgraded my Toshiba Satellite L305 from Vista Basic to Win7 Home Premium and I've been having this issue. On an inconsistent basis, when I put it to sleep it crashes.
Sometimes it crashes as soon as i put it to sleep and sometimes when I wake it up. I don't think I'm getting a BSOD, it justs restarts and gives me the option to open in safe mode or with networking. I've searched online for hours and frankly I'm stumped.

Thanks so much for your time and help!!

This problem started recently. I had not installed anything new I can think of. I've been trying to use Restore Points. It seems to work until I get another "Windows Critical Update", but I may be wrong about the link between the two.

Basically, nearly every time I leave my computer for any length of time, I come back and discover that I cannot awaken it by pressing on the keyboard or mouse keys. I press the reset button on the front of my computer and get an error saying Windows did not shut down properly. (I think you know the rest.)

I look at the errors and it's always a blue screen.

I think I have read all the instructions and prepared a file using the dm log collector. The resulting ZIP is 2MB. When I tried to attach it here, I get an error saying 413 Request Entity Too Large. But the maximum is 8MB, so I'm not sure how to proceed.

I would be grateful for any help.

I was just wondering if I could get some advice for my laptop.

I've recently installed Vista Ultimate on a spare 25gb partition on my laptop (I have XP on the main 80gb partition).

When I put the computer to sleep/standby, it goes down fine, but when I power it back up with the power button, it just starts again as if I'd turned it off, and then tells me Windows recovered from a serious error etc. No other button (other than the media center one, which does the same as the power button) works to "wake" it up.

I travel around with the laptop quite a lot, so it's important to me to be able to sleep it so it recovers quick if I need, so am just wondering if I could get some advice on how to make Sleep work, instead of having to hybernate it.

The reason I post on the Vista forum is that the problem only started once I'd installed Vista, however it now does the same thing in XP too.

Thanks in advance for any help.

PS. In case you need, Dell Inspiron 6400, 2ghz dual core, 2gb RAM, 80gb XP partition, 25gb Vista Ultimate 32bit partition, ATI X1400 graphics.

I recently installed a new SSD and a clean Windows 7 install. The power button on my PC puts the computer to sleep, or it sleeps automatically after 15 minutes at idle. Everything is working fine and I don't seem to have any obvious hardware problems. Sometimes when the PC goes to sleep it crashes, the monitors turn off but PCs power is still on and is completely unresponsive. After a few minutes it powers off and asks to boot in safe mode when turned on again. This only happens sometimes, 4 out of 5 times it goes to sleep and wakes correctly.
I have changed video drivers, network adapter drivers and scanned for errors. I have searched for answers but cant find any that are relevant to my issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.
Please use the following instructions to locate the most currently available drivers to replace the one's that you uninstall OR remove:

Quote:
How To Find Drivers:
- I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box below. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Here's the older drivers (You can look them up here: Driver Reference ).

Right I'm running Windows Vista and everytime i leave my computer and go eat lunch or something and come back the computer obviously goes to sleep in my absence. So when i wake it up it suddenly crash's. i know it crashes when i wake it up because of the time on the bottom right of the screen shows when it crashed.. which is always when i came back and woke the computer up.

its a dell laptop, an xps, m1530.

now i haven't changed the settings on my control panel recently, and something must have happened, because i can't use system restore to restore my computer to a time earlier than when this first started to happen.

Any idea's on why this is happening?

sorry correction. my current power settings is when i close the lid ''do nothing'' as in the computer just stays in its normal state. and when i come back after a while, there is obviously a screen saver, and upon moving my mouse, as the screen saver goes, i try and open a program, and it crash's.

The system does crash randomly and is not repeatable with anything found so far. One strange thing is that when the PC goes into sleep, the mouse is shut down, but when it goes into hibernate, the mouse is restarted and again shut down - this looks like it is waking the PC and causing the crash.

A:Windows 8 crashing on hibernate or sleep

Just noticed that if I change the Hibernate time under Advanced settings, Windows crashes when it starts sleep. After reboot, everything works and it is repeatable.

So I bought this Asus laptop back in January, and I still haven't seen it crash to this day - it always seem to happen when I walk away from the computer, leaving it idle for awhile - it always is just off, when I turn off, I get the unexpected shutdown screen, etc.

My OS: OEM Windows 7 Home Premium (x64-based)

The error that pops up gives the details: "Problem Event Name: BlueScreen"

I have attached all the BSOD required files. Anyone who could lend a hand to help fix this issue would be greatly appreciated, I just have no clue what's causing this!

Windows 7 crashing in sleep mode
I've had Windows installed from scratch on a PC I put together last year.

Shortly after New Years, I started having problems with Windows crashing when the machine went into sleep mode. It was an intermittent problem at first....I would hear the computer come back on after wiggling my mouse, the fan would go on etc. but nothing would be sent to the monitors.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
ASUS M4A79XTD Evo
4 GB Patriot Ram
ASUS EAH5770cu video card
Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty
Western Digital 1 TB hard drive
LG Blu-Ray drive

Then, I'd force a hard reboot, and sometimes it would come on....and then sometimes I'd end up at a black screen, and have to reboot a second time.

I updated the majority of mobo drivers, flashed the BIOS, etc. The only thing I haven't been able to do is update the hard drive controllers....for some reason every time I try to run the executable to change those, it launches ATI Catalyst Manager for my video card. I figure there are some remnants of the install files from Catalyst Manager sitting around on the hard drive. I looked for the Windows Install Cleanup Utility, but it's no longer available.

The problem seemed to go away.

But the last several days, it's been happening *every* time it goes into sleep mode. And this last time, when I rebooted, I got a blue screen error:

A:After Windows 8.1 Update 1, crashing coming out of sleep

I was just about to ask a very similar question. My laptop won't come out of sleep mode either. I close the lid or put it into sleep mode manually and it won't wake up. I have to hold down the power button to restart. I've mostly messed with the power setting to no avail. It seems like there is something preventing it from waking up, rather than the "won't go to sleep" problem that earlier versions of Win8 were having.

I have a suspicion that it has something to do with how 8.1 recognizes my Intel graphics chipset and Nvidia card. But really, thats just a suspicion.

Hi,

I've been posting on another forum for a few weeks trying to solve a problem where my computer restarts itself (or just freezes since I turned off auto-restart) in sleep mode. It never crashes when I'm using it - it's only when I come back to it after several hours that I find it unresponsive and unable to be awoken. Prior to turning off auto-restart, when I would come back, it would have restarted. I don't know what's causing it, and since there is no actual BSOD that I SEE, I can't troubleshoot on my own!

Through the other forum, I have updated all my drivers, BIOS, uninstalled McAfee, done a clean boot, etc. Nothing has worked, so they sent me to you.

Hi. . .

You may not see the BSODs, but they are occurring - 22 of them so far since Windows 10 was installed on 19 December 2015.

The BSODs started within 24 hours of installing Windows 10 on 19 December. This tells me that you're more than likely dealing with unknown hardware failure of some kind. However, there is a slim chance that it could be a driver issue. Unfortunately, the dumps are incapable of telling us the exact piece of hardware that is failing.

2 of the BSODs occurred in December 2015. One of them listed your Intel wifi driver as the probable cause -

Code:
Netwbw02.sys Thu Apr 16 08:33:36 2015 (552FAC20)
Your wifi adapter is listed as "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265".

Check for a driver update - (if you have not already done so -- I read your other thread) -

https://www.sysnative.com/drivers/dr...d=NETwbw02.sys

Hey guys I'm experiencing a series of issues involving my windows 7 based system.

System:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel Core 2 Duo
4g ram
ATI radeon HD 5850
650W power supply

-My computer crashes at random times, particularly when I am either multi-tasking or playing world of warcraft. At first, I assumed it was my graphics card oveheating that was causing the problem, but seeing as having itunes and youtube open at the same time could also cause the crash, that may rule the graphics card out.

-Second, whenever I try to shut down my computer, all my hardware (mouse, keyboard, screen) turn off, but my case fans and motherboard fan continue to run. They are hooked up directly to the power supply yes, but I have never had this issue.

-When I put the computer into sleep mode, all the hardware once again turns off, but pressing my keyboard key only restarts the keyboard, the computer remains in a dead state. Note by the way that the motherboard and case fan are STILL running while in sleep mode.

I have no idea what can be causing these issues, they have only recently started up. I use to have dust issues before, but my computer is dust free at the moment. I ran speedfan and it seems that my processor temps are running up to the low 70's (celsius) while simply watching youtube videos.

I am contemplating getting a new case with better ventilation as this case has been nothing but a dust magnet and only has 2 fans.

A:computer crashing, restarting, won't wake up from sleep

Ouch, 70 C on low cpu usage. That is very high and pretty much stretching it. Most motherboards will shut down automatically at around 73-74 C to prevent permanent damage to CPU.

When it crashes, how does it do so. Does it bluescreen, restart, or simply turn off? If it bluescreens, grab a dump file. If it restarts, it may have bluescreened but done so too fast to see it (may or may not have dumped a file). If it turns off, you can attribute that to a power issue or to cpu overheating. With heat that high and if ambient case temp isn't high, you may have to reapply cpu fan and new thermal paste onto the cpu. Or perhaps get a new fan altogether.

As for the strange sleep/shutdown behavior, that sounds like power state problems, but I don't see what could cause such strange behavior for it. Try checking your power options in Windows 7 (Control panel) as well as seeing any power options on your BIOS. Perhaps re-seating your CMOS battery on your motherboard (the disc battery) could also help, though make sure to go back through your BIOS again to reconfigure options.

Sorry to call it a sleep mode i'm not entirely sure what it is but it's the default option for the key next to the search bar before the computer lock. When highlighted it says, "Keeps your system in memory and puts the computer in a low-power state so that you can quickly continue working."

Essentially what happens is i click the button (mostly by accident as i just switched from xp) and the computer shuts down immediately without doing anything. I'm like sure sleep mode ok and click the mouse and sure enough the computer spins back to life. Only as soon as it spins up it shuts off again then 3 seconds or so later it spins up again, rinse and repeat until i pull the power. I did try the power button to no avail.

Now the computer runs fine if i don't touch this button. I assumed it was a faulty powersupply, as i didn't associate the problem to the button at the time, so i took it out and sent it in to get fixed and put my old computers powersupply in and it booted right up and worked fine for a day until i clicked that button in which case the comptuer did the exact same thing.

I just finished building the computer.

intel quad core 9450
4 gigs of ram
ati 4870
apevia 600w psu (the one i returned was a corsair 750w)

i'm using ultimate x64.

hopefully i can figure this out, thanks.

A:Vista 'Sleep Mode' Crashing the computer.

This is fairly strange and I don't really have any ideads at the moment. But I was just going to tell you that you can change what that button does in the Power Options:

Control Panel > Power Options. Click on "Change plan settings" for the current power plan, then click "Change advanced power settings". Expand the "Power buttons and lid" section, then the "Start menu power button". Select what you want it to be, et voil?.

My desktop was running smoothly prior to last night's Windows 8.1 Update 1, now unable to come out of sleep mode. It initializes, but then quickly dies. Powering up manually is then successful, no immediate error messages after.

Have searched the issue with no returns and attempted to update the driver for my ATI Radeon HD 4850, but was unsuccessful (?) The AMD Catalyst software installed, but the driver install itself failed. Current driver is 'ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)'
Any help diagnosing would be greatly appreciated!

Ive had windows 7 ult installed now for just over a week, and the on single issue ive been having with is, I put it to sleep every night, when i try and bring out of sleep everyday, it comes up fine to windows logon screen, but then crashes to blue screen within a couple seconds. This happens everyday.

Other than that I have no other stability issues.

As far as I know all my drivers are up to date and i have no idea what else to do...

A:Bringing windows out of sleep crashing issues

Not t o thread jack, I've had problems with "waking" my computer, but I think its because I have a slightly underpowered PSU: AMD Phemon x3 2100mhz, GeForce 9600 GT OC, 1 SATA HDD, 2 IDE HDDs, 1 SATA DVD-RW, 1 USB HDD.

When I did try wake my computer, I would hear the GPU fan & CPU fan kick on, and after afew seconds I would hear the HDDs switching on. As soon as one of them clicks on...power goes out (so to speak). I have not narrowed it down to which HDD it is, because for now I do not let W7 go into sleep/hibernate mode.

I've been trying to fix this for a couple weeks, reinstalling windows and tests hardware and nothing. Windows will work for a couple days and then randomly it'll just crash windows after turning back on. I'm thinking it's a possible driver issue but not sure. Explorer.exe will crash too if I click on anything. It will get worse and worse until I just can't boot windows and everything is slow, can't use safe mode, can't use system repair and keyboard and mouse randomly wont work sometimes if i make it to the log in or system repair menu. I can't pinpoint the issue. I thought maybe it was memory issues from ram or HDD or even faulty motherboard.

Hi there,

Additional information is required.

1. Download this file to your desktop or other convenient location,

2. Double click on the file to run it.

3. Locate the .ZIP file created on your desktop, and upload it here in your next reply.

This is just a guess but try turning off selective suspend,

A chkdsk /r would be worth trying as well,

SF_28-03-2013.zipHello everyone. This is my first time posting so I apologize if I've done anything incorrectly.
I have a problem with a desktop computer that appears as though it's gone into a sleep mode after it sets idle for a decent amount of time (not sure of exact time). However, when I move the mouse or press buttons on the keyboard, nothing happens. The blue power light on the monitor just continues to flash as if there is no signal. I have checked and rechecked to make sure that I have turned off all settings related to sleep or hibernation modes. The only way to get it out of this state is to do a hard reset and then everything comes back up and it works fine. It does throw the message that "windows was not shut down properly" when it starts back up. When it goes into that "sleep mode," the fans are all still running and the lights on the keyboard are on. I went through your tutorial on uploading my dump file as a zip and I have attached that to this post. I recently upgraded the processor in this computer from an athlon II and updated the video card drivers from nvidia. As far as I know, the bios on the motherboard and all other drivers are up to date. I have posted my complete system specs in my profile. I would very much appreciate any help or advice that anyone may offer. Thanks

Hi everyone,  I bought a Yoga 920 about a month ago, and in the last week or so have had an issue with the computer's sleep function. Essentially, when I put the computer to sleep (either by shutting the lid or clicking using the mouse or pressing the power button), after a few minutes, it will not wake like you would expect it to do so under regular operation. The only way to awaken the laptop is to hold the power button and do a hard reset. This has caused me to have to do a hard reset multiple times a day.  The issue appears to be similar to this: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/ll06_en/thread-id/34896  Has anyone had a similar problem? What solutions are there?

Hello, My Yoga 900 has woken from sleep in my backpack multiple times. I have tried to find a setting to disable the keyboard while the computer is asleep, but I have not been able to find one. I have asked technical support about this problem and they too do not have a solution. I requested the agent I spoke with to pass along my request to the tech department and he agreed to do so. Is there some existing way for me to solve this issue?

Just got a brand new Yoga 710 w/ Win 10 Pro and the system just shuts down when put to sleep.Happens when:- I close the lid (even if "close lid" power option is set to sleep), or- I select the "Sleep" option from the Start [equivalent] menu, the system immediately shuts down (within seconds),- Leave the system idle for 5 min (what sleep timeout is set) And since it shuts down:- I lose any open document, applications running, etc. Also, on restart, Windows occasionally will also complain that it wasn't shutdown properly, starts to scan disk, etc. This is really BAD!- Pressing the mouse or keyboard doesn't do anything and only pressing the power button will get it working again (and I see the Lenovo BIOS logo, etc.).It feels like the OS is trying to go to sleep, but the laptop is shutting down instead. I tried calling Lenovo customer service but the response was really really unacceptable:- First tried to disable sleep completely and saying that that since this is a new machine so that should be okay.- I asked what about battery life if I don't use the laptop (say overnight) for a while -- response was I should shutdown the laptop. I checked the power option, tried disabling hibernate, disable fast boot, etc. and other suggestions from searching the forum but nothing worked.   Also checked BIOS settings but there's not much that can be changed (which is rather surprising).Drivers are BIOS are up-to-date. Any other ideas?  Any one else seeing this i... I've has a history of sleep issues on my yoga 3 pro that came with Windows 10. Short History-------------1) Work properly for a few months after purchase2) The issue started (Laptop starts sleep process, screen goes blank, keyboard stays lighted, power stays lighted. It never goes to sleep, I cannot wake it, and need to hold the power button down for 10 seconds (i.e. kill power entirely))3) After many driver updates I still had the problem. I can only assume a Windows update started the issue but who knows.4) I noticed a BIOS update from Lenovo the other day so I gave that a shot. I was at version ***56*** and it was ***58****. It fixed the issue!5) Received Windows Update (Build 1607, Anniversary update) and now the problem is back. I've disabled sleep entirely as my current solution, but would like sleep to function as intended. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix? Does anyone know the root cause? Thanks
