Solved: Zoom Browser won't open in Windows 7

Q: Solved: Zoom Browser won't open in Windows 7

OK, I've checked the other threads re: Zoom Browser and have tried all the tricks and ideas, but no success. First I kept getting an error message about not being registered and now it's the wrong string or something. I've d/l'ed the newest version and it DOES NOT work. Shut down my firewall: no success. I've cleaned out my registry, clean boot, more uninstalls and re-installs and looked on line for more fixes. Even tried my other programs to see if anything else didn't work. Nope! EVERYTHING else is fine! Also, all of Canon's answers I checked into don't work. And I've also seen that I'm not the only one.

I have NO idea what the problem could be. It DID work fine until I received the latest MS updates. (I'm HIGHLY considering NEVER again receiving any more updates from Microsoft as I tend to spend more time fixing things after the updates than the updates are worth. Everything from CHKDSK going into "lets start at every boot" mode to other programs getting glitchy. (Do they even test the updates before uploading them?)

Anyway, I don't want to do a system restore because I've recently d/l'ed some important programs and - like I had to do once in the past - I don't want to explain why I have to re-register the programs. (Can't they tell it's the same computer????)

Just in case: does anyone know where I can get an earlier version of ZB or at least something comparable that actually works?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Went back and installed version 5.6. No problems. Still don't know why 6.7.2 did not work. Haven't found anyone who had the problem actually find a real solution. No matter! Version 5.6 works fine and is all I need. Although upgrades work most of the time with other programs, I think I'll keep this version around for a long time.

Howdy, my brother! This computer is running XP Home SP2 on an Intel Core Duo HP Media Center - but it stopped has booting outside of Safe Mode. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/sty...fault/wacko.gifI allowed a computer novice friend who had been accessing his Yahoo!Mail acct from a public motel computer where he contracted a virus - without cautioning me - to access his mail from my PC. He says the virus on his Y!Mail is hardware independent - and modeled the behavior he found at the motel - i.e. when he attempts to write a new email or forward one, a script inserts nuisance text in that message. After he experienced that on my pc, web browser windows now run a script which hijacks the Zoom-in / Zoom out control and locks-up at either the zoom in or out (out is worse) because you only see a corner of the raster.I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, AdAware, and my installed Avira AntiVir Guard - none of which detected anything but cookies. I installed some new camcorder software which rebooted the system. But after the Windows start-up screen, the screen just goes BLACK and the system is unresponsive. I booted in Safe Mode with Networking, downloaded and ran HijackThis to get log. I ran Dr.WebCureIt - which detected nothing in this mode. I have timely news video for CNN iReports Independence Day coverage which I seek to transfer from my camcorder to edit on this tower - if you would please help me get it back working again. I am having trouble figuring out how to reset my Windows browser. I use a home made computer that runs Windows XP Pro...I have Internet Explorer 6...Anytime I am online and on a web page, if I want to open multiple web pages my original web page closes and the new one opens.

I am sure it is something I can go change but not sure where that it is located...so if anyone knows I would be eternally grateful! honest Oh and I have even tried to reset my computer to a previous time when it worked fine and that did no good either...Help Please! My husband has an HP Envy desktop running Windows 8 with a new HP 23tm Touch Screen Monitor. For the last couple of weeks, sometimes when he lowers an open browser to the task bar, he can no longer bring it back up. It show the small preview and it is still open but it won't go enlarge. Right click, left click, close then open, it's just done. At first restarting the computer worked. He found that when it happens he can switch to a different browser and that will work. When he has a browser open on the desktop and tries to open another program it opens but stays frozen to the taskbar. Lower the browser and it still wont enlarge. This seems to happen when it goes into screen save mode. We ran all checks (drivers, disk, virus) and ran all updates. Checked with Microsoft and HP for solutions. Is this a Windows 8 problem or a monitor problem? He never knows what browser will be available to him. Thanks in advance for any ideas or help!

If you mean he is running a screen saver try with screen saver turned off ("None"). If the problem then goes away, try a different screen saver.

I have Zoom Browser EX. It has always worked well...I don't know what changed. When I upload all the photos off my memory card, I can see them on the screen however when I click on them so I can save them or get a better view of them, nothing happens.
The picture just seems to be highlighted in gray/white. It looks like I am about to select it and then nothing. If I right click I can e-mail the picture but this is not how it used to work and I don't like doing it this way.

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has familiarity with this program.

You could try uninstalling/re-installing Zoom Browser? This might fix the bug and it's worth a try.

If you're using Windows XP you can upload the pics from your digi camera without any other software needed.

I have ZoomBrowser but uninstalled it and don't really miss it as XP's inbuilt camera software works fine.

Last night, somehow my zoom was changed. My start menu used to have only about 4 rows and now there are six rows and the tiles are now all much smaller. Generally everything is smaller and a new registry entry has appeared in

Called 'Layout_MaximumAvailibleHeightCells' with a hexadecimal value of 6. I know this is something to do with my problem as I have seen a few tutorials on changing the amount of rows. If I change it, it reverts back to 6 again when I log in to my account. I have tried changing the resolution, but it was the same before the sizes changed and as I have Eyefinity I can't put it down as that would make it repeat on all three screens, and the resolution is at its maximum. It is not to do with the 'Change the size of all items'. It applies the login screen as well.

TL;DR Everything is smaller, and nothing to do with resolution/accessibility, nor the AMD Catalyst Control Panel.

Specs on screens:

3 x 1920x1080p Monitors
AMD Radeon HD 6870 GPU

A:[SOLVED] Windows 8 Size & Zoom

Hi (and welcome to the forums)

Why not try a run of System Restore? It usually works fairly well for getting settings back to previous values, and it doesn't bother your personal files.

The steps below are for computers running any version of Windows 8 except Windows 8 RT (which mostly is used on the Microsoft tablets called "Surface" ... ["Surface Pro" tablets run Windows 8 Pro]. System Restore isn't available for Windows RT.

I'll assume that your computer isn't running Windows RT, and is running Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro.

To restore your PC using System Restore

1. From a touchscreen, swipe in from the right edge of the screen to produce the "charms" bar, and then tap the Search magnifying glass icon. (Or, if you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down to produce the "charms" bar, and then click Search.) Enter Recovery in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Recovery.

2. Tap or click Open System Restore, and follow the prompts. Pick a restore point from before the unwanted changes.

If the changes came about without any action on your part, you might also want to scan for malware, as its presence can cause all sorts of unpredictable behavior. Check in Device Manager, too, in case you might have a device (especially your display or graphics/video card) whose driver is generic rather tha... Read more

Hi! I am having a small issue with Cannon's ZoomBrowser program. I'm working on making movies with clips and pictures. I love the program, the way that it all works, but I ran into a small problem. Saving.

When I click save it says...
"The save failed due to decrease in available memory. Decrease the save image size, or reduce the number of images you are adding to the story board, and try to save again"

I decreased all of the images size, but it still didn't save. What is the issue with this program? I'm hoping you'll tell me there is just something small wrong that I can fix. It does this with about 10 pictures and 2 30 second video clips, so its not like I have lots of images/clips in it either.

I'm running the latest official release of Google Chrome Browser.

I have laptop with 1920x1080 display and if Chrome is set at 100% zoom, everything is too small.

When I set Chrome to 150% zoom, things look okay. The problem is that for some webpages in Chrome, 150% zoom messes up the page really bad to the point where the webpage is almost unusable (overlapping pictures, text, etc). For webpages with this problem I find that I have to either have Chrome zoomed to a multiple of 100 (so either 100% zoom, 200%, 300%, etc). The problem is that doing so makes the page obnoxiously too big or too small. I've tried different zoom related plugins to help fix this issue but nothing works.

I notice I do not have this problem with Internet Explorer. I'm able to zoom in or out without the contents of the webpage becoming jumbled.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you

A:Help with Chrome browser, zoom issues on 1920x1080 display

Unfortunately, I know of only two options, neither of which I think you will be keen to.

1) Use IE9. I have both IE9 and Chrome installed on my computer, and I prefer IE9. I mainly use Chrome for the apps you can use with it, but for general browsing I prefer IE.

2) Reduce the resolution on your computer to 1600x900. This will make everything on the screen bigger, including web pages. I know it seems suboptimal to use a lower resolution than what the screen is capable of, but the difference in picture quality is minor and it will most likely solve your issue.

Hi everybody

I picked up some nasty malware. AVG was updating and suddenly everything just fell apart.

I can't run any installation programs regardless of the extension or name. I've tried to install Rkill and MalwareBytes with absolutely no luck. It defaults to needing to be unblocked in the properties and no matter what compatibility mode I use it will not run. I get a 1084 error when I try to open the security center. In the taskbar I have an Action Center alert that says 1 Important Message and 3 Total Messages. The Action Center will not open at all. I do not have access to a USB key as I am not home, but I will be Tuesday evening. Any help would be infinitely appreciated.

Other notes I forgot: I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and I am constantly getting errors that Windows can't load and needs to be repaired. It runs and restarts, sometimes being repaired and other times not.

Thanks a lot

A:Action center won't open, Internel Explorer only browser that will open, no MalwareBytes and RKill will not open

An update.

I've tried running MalwareBytes and RKill from a flash drive which is also not working. Windows also ends up unable to load, the startup repair runs and things work fine. Not long after Windows tries to update and then it becomes unable to load again and the startup repair runs again.

I tried running a registry fix for the .exe problem and I get an error stating that the registry is being used even when no programs are running and I am in safe mode.

Hope this information helps

Hi Guys, just wanted to let you know that I had a problem with a client who couldn't open a 2nd browser window in IE6 despite reused windows unchecked and browse in new process checked.

Spyware and adware were clean. I don't know which ie update the conflict started with, however it is related to Yahoo Toolbar or Yahoo Extra's. The client installed the entire yahoo messenger suite complete with the toolbar, companion, extra's and email. By removing all but the messenger and rebooting, the problem went away.

Clicking on <ctrl>+N relaunches the original window

Clicking on the E icon a 2nd time, relaunches the original window.

Popup windows relying on a 2nd window to open, either open in the original window, or if using pop-up blocker, closes IE out altogether.

Please post if this worked for you to keep this post alive. I looked everywhere and couldn't find a solution, but many people in other forums reporting the problem.

I don't know why, but for the past week, whenever I open my IE browser, the page always comes up in reduced size(smaller than filling the whole screen, as I want it to).

My sister-in-law asked me to take a look at her HP notebook because she said she had a virus.

I have performed a full virus scan with AVG as well as scans with Spybot and Ad-aware.

It acts like it is pretty much clean now, however...

After you start the computer and try to load IE or Firefox, either browser just hangs there and doesn't load a page. After a moment or two, it is completely locked up. I can kill the browser process and reopen it and usually after repeating this 5 or 6 times, it will start working and appear to be relatively normal.

Any help would be appreciated. She can't find her recovery cd, so reinstalling will likely not be an option. Thanks.

My sister in law has an E Machines desktop that I converted years ago from XP to Vista. I had occasion to install a new modem for her and in the process tried to update the original IE8 to IE9 just as a first step. I realize it
should all be scrapped but that's not an option. The IE9 update appeared to take initially but shortly thereafter the browser froze up and will no longer open at all. I tried to restore the IE8 but that also will not open. I have the origional restore disc set which has an option not to select XP so I am wondering if that is a good place to start or is there a better approach? The machine is not altogether dead as the E Mail program and other functions still operate.

A:Solved: IE Browser will not open Vista System

As long as there is a working network connection, there is a way to restore a browser.

On vista the best that I can think of is to open command prompt and install Firefox using a file transfer protocol(FTP), if you dont know how to open a command prompt, directions below.

Step by Step:
Click "start"
Click "all programs"
open the accessories folder
right click "command prompt"
click "run as administrator"

A command prompt that is entitled "Administrator - Command Prompt" should open

change the directory to the desktop of the current user
Type < %userprofile%\desktop >

start the ftp
Type "ftp ftp.mozilla.org"
Type "cd pub" to change the directory
Type "cd firefox"
Type "cd releases"
Type "cd latest"
Type "cd latest"
Type "cd win32"
Type "mget *.exe"
Type "y" when a question appears

between each command of the cd, you can type "ls -l" to see all possibilities
from there click on the setup icon that will appear on the desktop
from here it is self explanatory and you could reinstall windows internet explorer by downloading it and to exit the ftp in the command prompt type the word bye and it will say goodbye and then you can type exit and it will close the elevated command prompt.

Hello. As of this morning, I cannot open Mozilla Firefox. I double click, a little hourglass comes up for a moment, and then .....nothing. I get the same results no matter how many times I click. I thought maybe if I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it would help, but I do not really want to lose all my bookmarks ect, so I am posting here to see if anyone has any ideas. I am running version 1.06, on xp pro w/ sp2. IE works fine on this machine, which is how I am posting this question. Thanks for any help/advice!

A:Solved: Cannot open firefox browser? IE works ok.

If you uninstall and reinstall, you will not lose all your bookmarks, extensions, ect. Those are all stored in a separate folder than the actual running program.

I would try that first.

Hi Guys,
I am back asking for your help again. My husband's computer suddenly stopped allowing him to access the internet through either Firefox or Chrome. I don't think he has Internet Explorer installed on his computer. Don't ask me why??? But it shows connected but neither browser will open. He gets emails OK. I have made sure that the proxy server is unchecked. I looked at the device manager and nothing appears to be out of sync there. He tried a system restore but that didn't work either.

Can anybody tell us what to do and how to do it? He is running XP on a older PC. I don't think he has installed any new programs lately but he said he has been trying to clean up old files and he may have deleted something that was essential to open the browsers.
Anybody got any ideas?

Hi Kids-
I was messing around trying to figure out how to stop those annoying pop-up ad windows...and I don't know what I've done or if it's even related..but...clicking on links will bring up a new browser window, but nothing happens, the link does not complete. Not on links in OE nor in MIE. Sometimes the whole thing just crashes. Nor can I download anything. It's very annoying. Can anyone help?

I am having the exact same problem with ads popping up in Firefox and in IE. They are completely random ads, from online games to google.. and I am certain they came from doing these surveys that are offered on Myspace and Facebook in order to get yocash for yoville. I have used AVG, Spybot, and Malware... done everything and cant find anything to rid myself of these popup ads. Im watching closely on this thread because I have the exact same problem.

Recently I have noticed a mouse click sound in the open browsers windows. This usually happens when I am surfing the web and stay on a page fro awhile. I have run Spybot, Adaware, Spy Sweeper, and every other anti-spy under the sun but I am unable to locate the source of this clicking noise. I first thought it was the Java console running in the background but soon figured it wasn't it. My homepage is intact and no spyware threats have been found. I did download and remove The Weather Channel tools. I removed it successfully but it still shows up in the Control Panel. I am pretty much at a lose for any ideas what this might be. Any idea?

A:Solved: Mouse clicking noise in open browser.

I think it has something to do with the page you are viewing auto refreshing. You get it at quite a few sites. It will be interesting to hear what others have to say about it.

Hello everybody,

For more than a week now I've been trying to solve this puzzle.
My Firefox and IE browsers get triggered and open multiple windows/tabs of my homepage or Windows Live page. (Oops, it just happened when typing this: so I used the 'go back one page' button). As soon as the webpage is finished loading it starts reloading or/and opens another window and the whole process starts all over again.
Another problem is that all of a sudden I can open my Firefox (default) browser with unintended hotkeys: The Ffour, Ffive, Five, Four and Delete key...

I tried Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Trojan Remover, Webroot Antivirus (my default is Avast), SpywareBlaster and Ad-Aware. Only Ad-Aware came up with results and quarantined some 125 (!) files. Hm, mostly nothing impressive.

Some remarkable things (but maybe I'm getting paranoid): I get bugged by Windows Update. My Anvir Taskmanager indicates that C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\netfxupdate.exe suddenly has become a start up item. Anvir also frowns at ctfmon as a start up item because it could be used by Family Keylogger. Anvir's explanation: 2. Status: Regular entry. Description: Family Keylogger is a program that lets you record to a special file and then view all the keystrokes typed by everyone using your computer. Keystroke logger/monitoring program - remove unless you installed it yourself! Found in the SystemCTF (9x/Me) or System32CTF (NT/2K/XP)... Read more

please perform a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and follow these instructions for doing a Quick Scan in normal mode.•When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.•The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.•Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.-- If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.-- Some types of malware will target Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other security tools to keep them from running properly. If that's the case, please refer to the suggestions provided in For those having trouble running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as you may need to rename it or use RKill by Grinler. I don't have a big problem, just a really annoying one. My computer limits the number of browser windows I can have open at one time......normally around six. Now some of you may think there's no need to have a ton of windows open at once but there are times where I'm looking and researching lots of different things at once and it's annoying when I have to close some windows so that I can open others. I've looked through different settings options but don't see anything that would help me.......I am a novice computer user. I don't believe I have any popup blocker software installed that would cause this. Please help if you can?

My son said when is using more than one browser window (IE 6.0 dial-up) and is viewing a new page while waiting for another to load, that the old page pops open when it is finished loading, instead of staying minimized until he re-opens it. He said his screen looks like the 4th of July with these pages poping open.

We can't find how to stop this in internet options. Would appreciate suggestions.

You did not mention which version of Windows that you are using, but there is a program called tweakui that has a setting to prevent application from stealing focus.

Here is where you can find the pre-XP version.
