Have any tips to increase internet speed

Q: Have any tips to increase internet speed

I'm using Mobidata Edge Modem. My internet connection is very slow. I found some speed increasing software, using them but don't get useful result. Have any solution how can I increase my speed, have any technique?

Preferred Solution: Have any tips to increase internet speed

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Have any tips to increase internet speed

the best way to have faster internet that i have found is:

1: use a computer that is cheap to replace. (older is usually the case here)
2: use a wired connection
3: Firefox with add blocker (most adds are images, get ride of them get ride of about 1/2 of the page download)
4: set Firefox to delete all cookies and temp files when closed. (not with addons, just with the normal settings)
5: do not use any software that effects any programs dealing with the internet.
*no anti-virues, firewalls,un-needed addons, web sharing. ~ this is why you want to use a cheap fix computer*

if you do this:
you want to keep any thing you want to keep on removable memory (and backed up).
virus removal software on the computer but not constantly running. (manually scan)
and an operating system disk for the computer to reinstall if needed.
i have an old 98 computer that i use like this... when i use it i never seem to have any problems... but when others use it i always seem to have to scan/reinstall.

BTW i have tried a lot of different speed increasing software but i have not found any that works at all.
also some changes to your network card settings might help.

The scenario:
You've got a wireless router from netgear with the latest firmware. It's the model MR814. You've got 2 computers hardwired to it. Both get 3MBPS. Then you've got one that's wireless. It gets 1.8MBPS. It's got the "matching" wireless card- the one they recommend you use. The wireless reception is ALWAYS rated as excellent (by XP pro). There is no way to wire it. It is a rural area, and hacking, war driving, etc is not a problem AT ALL.

Any general tips or tricks to get the wireless computer up to speed?

A:General tips to increase wireless speed

Try changing the channel the router broadcasts on. Move the router as high as possible.

Dear Friends;

I connect with internet through my wireless phoneset which speed is 230.4kbps. If I want to increase the speed of internet, should I change the internet service provider or the RAM of PC has also influence on internet speed.

Sorry if I could not explain well and sorry for my lack of basic knowledge.

A:How can I increase the internet speed?

ram won't assist in internet speed. if you are going through a phoneset modem, you are most likely limited by that technology. You can go to http://www.dslreports.com/stest and see how you rank compared to similar technologies, but I would suspect you are about at the limit.

However, I've been wrong before, so if you show up on the bottom edge of a similar connection type, the next step would be contacting and/or switching isp's.

Try this, it improved my pc but not much

Click the start button
then type in the start menu system.ini

in the system.ini copy this

page buffer=10000000Tbps

Tbps means Tera bytes per second which means the internet speed will improve

Second method:
If it did not work try this other method
1-go to run
2-type gpedit.msc
3-expand the administrative templates
4-expand the network
5-select Qos Packet Scheduler
6- double click limit reservable bandwidth
7-enable it and put 0 in the bandwidth limit
8-click apply and ok
hope this helps!!

My issue is that when I am upstairs windows 7 says there is 5/5 bars as connection (same as downstairs)
But when I am upstairs I am lucky to reach 2mb/s
Downstairs I get 10mb/s(normal for me)

Could this be a driver issue?

A:A big decrease increase internet speed,

Could be a driver issue, a signal noise issue (even if you are getting 5 bars) or could be your upstairs PC is using the G band when the downstairs is using N band.

Hello to all of you!

The speed of my Local Area Connection is : 100.0 Mpbs.
Here`s the problem.

The most frequent download speed I get from (Steam, IDM or Browser downloads) ranges 100-120 KB/s.
But sometimes I get about a speed ranges 900 KB/s or even 1MB/s higher.

Can someone tell me how can I make it stay with 900 KB/s?

A:How can I increase my Internet Downloading Speed

If your connection is 100Mbps then you should get downloads of 12MB/s. However, I think you are mistaking LAN connection speed with the speed you are getting from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). You can only increase Internet download by switching to a better Internet plan from your ISP.

LAN speed is the speed you can get while communicating with other local PCs that are wired to the router.

Source: petri.co.il - Increase Broadband Connection Speed in Windows XP/2003 (January 2009 article)

This tip is designed for increased BROADBAND speed in Windows XP while using standard Network Interface cards (NIC) that are connected to ADSL modems, or when using any directly-connected USB ADSL modem.

To speed up the Internet connection speed we need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made from the NIC or the USB modem.

This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher.

Step #1 - Identify the IRQ used by the NIC/USB modem

1. Open the System Information tool by running MSINFO32.EXE from the Run command.

2. Expand System Summary > Hardware Resources > IRQs.

3. Look for the listing made for your NIC (in my case - a Intel? PRO/100+ Management Adapter). Note the IRQ next to the specified line (in my case - IRQ21).

In case of USB modems you will first need to find the right USB device used by your modem. Follow these steps:

1. Open the Device Manager tool by running DEVMGMT.MSC from the Run command (or by right-clicking My Computer > Hardware tab > Device Manager button).

2. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it.

3. Right-click the USB Root Hub and select Properties. Note that you might need to do so for all listed USB Root hubs (if there are more than one) in order to find the right one.

I was using Norton, but recently uninstalled that and installed AVG, which I ran as well as Adaware; neither found any major problems. I posted a HijackThis log a few weeks ago, but no one responded so I assume there wasn't anything there either. A:Firefox Tips or Tricks for SPEED!!!!??

Latest Firefox is version 3.6. According to Mozilla tests, Firefox 3.6 is 15% faster than Firefox 3.5. If you still find it slow then you need a CPU and RAM update.

You say you have multiple browsers working? If it means you have many Firefox windows open then you may want to use tabs instead of windows. Tabs significantly improve the speed compared to opening a separate browser window.

Lagging for Firefox may be normally because of these things - bandwidth is being used by some other process (for example, you are downloading a file), your DNS servers are not responding fast enough, your Firewall/Antivirus is scanning your HTTP traffic.

Since you already know how to change Firefox settings, try this too :
network.dns.disableIPv6 = true
nglayout.initialpaint.delay = 0

First clean out your Startup folder - Start; Programs; Startup. Right click each item in turn there and choose delete. I have only 'swtray' there, the joystick driver, and it has to be there. On most machines you don't want anything in that folder.

Check your available resources by right-clicking My Computer; clicking Properties; Click the Performance tab. Resources available are displayed as percent there at top. Check it when you get done running the System Configuration Utility mentioned below.

Click the Start button; Run; type 'msconfig', without the quoatation marks, in the Run box and click OK; Then click the Startup tab; Uncheck anything you don't need running in the background. For reference on what's not needed running in the background in the System Configuration Utility, view this website first and print out the list:

It's important that you print out the above mentioned list. In color if possible.

Tweaks that do nothing, or could even slow your PC down.

Many speedup tools include the "unload DLLs" tweak - but it hasn't done anything useful for years

If your PC seems to have slowed down recently, then there's plenty of help to be found online.

A few minutes at Google will turn up hundreds of speed-up guides and tweaking tools, each promising that they can revitalise your system.

And that would be fine, if it wasn't for the fact that many of their tweaks are obsolete, some are urban myths and have never worked, and a few will even cut your performance.

Identifying the dubious tips can be difficult, though, so we've got you off to a head start by listing our top 10.

Despite some of them not doing anything since Windows 98, and others being utterly useless on all versions of Windows, most have regularly appeared in speed-up guides and tools across the web. But, as you'll see, they're all best avoided, so you can focus your attention on the speed-up tweaks that actually deliver.

Most people talk about there CPU fans being to loud and that they wanna know how to decrease their speed because theyd rather have peace and quiet and have there CPU take some heat. Well i have speedfan and my cpu fan rpm sits around 3400rpm, ive seen it get into the 5000rpm ranges. How would i go about having full control of my cpu fan? I wanna have it running at maximum speed all the time, i wanna bring my cpu temps below 40C at idle.

A:How to increase CPU Fan Speed

It depends on the type of fan you have.

Some of them alter their own speed according to the temperature, some of them have their speed adjusted by the motherboard.

How many wires run into your fan? If it's three wires then there is no way to control its speed. If it's four wires then connecting the speed control wire to +5V should do the trick.

None of that means too much too me, but I know my laptop isn't very good when it comes too graphics etc. Basically i've just been on speedtest.com and done a speed test this is my results -- I've uploaded an image of the results.

I know my dad always mentions too me that we are right on the outside of exchange so our speeds are limited too like 2mb/s, so is there anyway of getting this speed higher or finding out if BT will upgrade the exchange too make our speeds better?

Oh and when uploading too youtube a 10 minute video, 1.3gb roughly in size can take anywhere from 280 mins - 400 mins, is this because of the connection or my laptop being useless or a combination of both?

So really i'm in need of a lengthy explanation because im retarded, haha.

to increase the speed on bit torrent or on utorrent ive seen some videos too
but how do i increase the speed too somthing like 512kb or somthing alike please
anybody who knows anyrhing about this please help

A:Bit torrent speed increase

Bit torrent and the like are peer to peer software and work on the basis that you take pieces of the item you want from people who have either the full file or part of it, in a sense this means the actual download speed is dictated by how many people are giving the file (seeding) and how fast there connection is to the internet, if for instance the majority were still on an old dial up then you would see a slow connection and download rate, however if they have a good broadband speed then the download speed would increase.

You cant do anything about the speed other than to try and get a file from those who have a good internet connection, as this isnt something you can guess at then your stuffed and have to wait for the file at whatever speed you can get it at.

I will say this, ensure your router (if you use one) has the correct ports opened on it to allow BT to connect properly, and remember that BT itself is an illegal method of sharing files and you run the risk of being taken to court for any files you choose to download.

A:How Do You Increase Broadband Speed?

I verywell could be. The download speed is determined by several factors. The most restrictive is how much bandwidth will the remote server let you have to download the software. I have 6Mbps download speed. MajorGeeks and Download.com seldom allow me more than 250Kbps and it is not uncommon to be as low as 150Kbps. With that said I have downloaded from Source.Forge.com at over 2.5Mbps on occassion. Have you tried testing your download speed? Try testing your speed at the following link.http://performance.toast.net/
