Preferred Solution: Drop down list of URLs in address bar missing?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Windows XP Pro, sp3.

In Firefox 2 you could go to Tools>Options>Privacy and press the Clear Now button. That brought up a box with a bunch of check boxes in it that allowed you to select what is cleared. In that box with the check boxes in it there was also a button that says: Clear Private Data Now. When you pushed that button it cleared stuff, one thing of which was any of the URLs in the dropdown list of the address bar.

But now with Firefox 3 it doesn't clear what's in the address bar dropdown list. Can somebody please tell me how I can clear this?

For example: from a first drop down list of different brand of cars, the second drop down list is created listing different models of the brand of the car that i just picked up in the first list. Lets say we have three list and we want to select and make a drop down list according to a choice from another drop down list.
Is that possible doind this without using macro and instead using only the validation data / List and source?

Other question: from a choice from a drop down list, a pain brush picture will be displayed on another excel cel. is that possible?

In my XP Pro SP2 registry there is a key named
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains
Under that key is a list of about 1200 URLs, most of which seem to be rauncy or otherwise useless web sites of one sort or another. Since I don't make it a habit of visiting sites like those, I was wondering how those URLs got into my registry. Does XP come with those URLs already installed in the registry? I don't have a big hosts file, so they did not come from there. Will I destroy my registry if I just delete that list?

Hi oscar51,

The Zonemap entries are normal when SpywareBlaster is downloaded/installed or even Spybot Search & Destroy immunizations, and possibly IE-SPYAD protection. They are there to protect your computer from those websites - should your computer be directed there for any reason, e.g. malware.

If you delete those entries, you will become less secured from those websites.

Hi Everyone,

I am running a Domain (using Windows Server 2008 R2), that services a variety of Windows (only) client computers. The Windows clients in question are XP Professional, Vista Business, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 8 Professional.

I would like to control access to the internet on my Domain, such that client computers are only able to visit a very select (specific) list of URLs.

Preferably I would like to be able to administer the control of URLs from the Windows Server. Furthermore I would also like to be able to allocate various clients into logical "business groups", e.g.: "Stores", "Sales Team", etc. Finally each group will be permitted access to specific URLs based on their day to day needs.

If simple administration of URLs is not possible from the Server; or if the cost of this approach is inhibitive I am open to suggests on how to limit the URL access of each client computer.

Most client computers in my network have "Administrative" privileges so control from the Server is my greatest hope. However I am able to set various client computers to "User" only privileges.

For extra background information most of my clients use a variety of browsers; therefore it is not uncommon to have Chrome, Firefox & IE all installed on a single client.

Any suggestions & / or help here will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

Hi, I have a stupid question.

Up until now I've never used IE so I don't know the various ends and outs. One thing that is driving me up the wall is when I type a URL in the address bar, rather than opening up the URL in the currently active tab, IE opens the URL in a new tab. After entering a few URLs in the address bar, I am suddenly overwhelmed with tabs.

How can I configure IE to open URLs entered in the address bar in the currently active tab?

A:Open URLs typed in address bar in current active tab, not new tab

The only way it can be done in IE is using the process.start command (VB). Other browsers make it simple.

I'm still on Vista Home Premium, but I don't think it makes a difference to this problem.

I have extended, by editing about.config to show 100 urls, in the address list.

But many of them are outdated, the site no longer exists, or the link was mistyped and leads no where. The ones I started going to recently, are nowhere to be seen in the list.

I did look on Mozilla's web site and they mention a places.sqfile that can be edited, but it isn't on my computer.

How can I fix this ?

I use IE6 and Win98SE. I am trying to disable IE from remember the words I typed on web pages.

I am not sure what the proper term to describe the feature, and I hope I can describe it clearly. Say, when I am on Google and type in a term I want to search. IE automatically have a drop down list of terms I have typed before. This also is true on other sites, when I type in my user name, email, etc. on any site, IE automatically show a drop down list of terms that I entered previously.

How can I tell IE not to do this? or how can I clear/erase the list from time to time? My wife's cousin comes to our house sometimes and uses my computer....and I am privacy conscious!

Select the cell you want for the drop down, go to Data/Validation/Allow window, select list/in the source window type your three values separated by a comma.

If you like, enter the three values say in A1:A3 and name it, say MyList. In the source window enter =Mylist. If your list is in a page other than your drop down cell, you must name you valid list.

Recently I got, blasted by Kim Kommando. I downloaded one of her free offers for an internet privacy protection program that was supposed to delete any history files on my drive. This rogue program is called, Free History Cleaner. For two weeks all sorts of, 'Pop Up' ads suddenly started appearing on my browser. Apparently, 'Free History Cleaner' installed some sort of Trojan tracking device because Norton Antivirus finally decided to eliminate it.

The problem I have, now, is that bits and pieces of this rogue program are still hanging around. One of the nasty things it did is modify my Internet Explorer Menu Bar: It added the name, Free History Cleaner to the, Tools, Drop-Down List.

I need to know how to remove this item from the drop down list. So far nothing I read about or tried has worked. Thanks and remember to beware free offers from Kim Kommando!

(I should have known better than to trust someone who hides her e-mail address so that you can't communicate with her directly; and what's with this name, 'Kommando'?)

At the upper right of the page there are icons.
If the envelope icon has a number next to it, that is the number of your new and

When you hover over the envelope icon you get a drop down list of these emails.
After reading or emptying the mail in your mailbox the number will disappear
and if you hover over the icon the drop down list will be empty.
Last week the drop down list stopped dropping down and the icon still shows
a number of mail even after reading or deleting them.
Only after refreshing or signing off/on firefox does the number disappear.
But the drop down list no longer 'drops down'.
It no longer drops down in the aol browser either.
