On MP3 CD Player Burned Tracks & Folders Show up wrong

Q: On MP3 CD Player Burned Tracks & Folders Show up wrong

Using Windows Vista I Burned One of my Audiobooks that I had converted to MP3. I selected the option so it would be playable in data (MP3) capable CD players. When the burned disk loads in my sony cd/mp3 player stereo both the the tracks are out of order. They almost seem to skip every other ie... 2,6,3,7,4,8 and the folders lined up cd12, cd01, cd02, (the rest being fine, but cd12 at the beginning. Quite frustrating.

The files appear (titles) to be all lined up.

I just tried windows media player 11 and when I load a folder the last track starts then the rest follow in sync. It almost seems random. What am I overlooking?

thx

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm currently having a problem burning CDS. They seem to burn fine, but when I take them to work to play in the cd player there they skip terribly and eventually it just goes to the end of the cd. However, they play fine on my portable cd player at home. Normally I would think that it's the cd player, but before I reinstalled windows xp on my dell, I burned cds all the time and played them at work with no problem. What is going on?

Any help would be great. Maybe I don't have something installed right, I don't know. I've tried all I know how though.

I still don't know why there is no software that can read and print the screen. Thanks chuck for your answer. may be someone out there has a better idea than me writing a jewel case label in handwriting or in word.

A:reading burned audio cd tracks

Hi dobiegirl, and welcome to TSG.

A standard burned or commercially pressed audio CD does not contain data like artist, song title, genre, etc. in the tracks. You would need to manually enter the data in the label creation software.

EDIT: There is a variation of Audio CDs called CD Text that can contain track data. The burning software you used to create your discs would need to support that feature and the source files would have to have the correct tags.

Hello ... I have a flash drive attached to my Netgear wireless router that I make backups to and transfer files to and from other computers at home. It was formatted as NTFS and set up in the router about 2 weeks ago. I just noticed yesterday that all the folders in the drive have dates of 2003 -- even new folders I created today. The files inside all seem to be fine, with correct dates.

I am positive the drive did not start out this way. It was functioning normally. Does anyone know what could have caused these weird folder dates and how to prevent this from happening in the future? Is there any way to fix this? Could the backup program I am using be causing this problem? It is Syncback and it is doing automated backups to this drive.

The computer I am using is a new Asus T300 Chi with Windows 8.1.

Any ideas? I am stumped.

--Pat

A:Folders on a network attached drive show wrong date

It probably isn't the drive but the Router. You may have to enter the Router setup while connected via Ethernet cable and check the date. Check the documentation for the address to use in your browser, something along the line of 192.168.1.1, the last two numbers will vary between brands and maybe between models.

My husband's best friend uses his personal laptop with his Drag Race car, running diagnostic and performance programs. So he could not risk losing his data. However, he did just that by going to some risky websites. He had no anti-virus protection that was paid or current.

When I got the computer, I did a general clean-up, removing all the temps, etc. Then I downloaded AVG and scanned with results of Win32/Heur trojan worm. I ran Spybot S&D, during the scan I got the BSOD! I was able to recover but when AVG removed and healed the multiple baddies, I then rebooted. On reboot, the Win32 command screen flashed about 30 times resetting or recreating something.

I am not having any major problems on this laptop at this time but would like to have someone better than me check out the HiJackThis log and the ComboFix report.

Hi there

Any Audio gurus out there

I seem to have some Audio files that whatever I do seem always to play in the order 1,10, 11...2,20,21... etc instead of 1,2,3,.. etc

Any idea what I'm doing wrong. Seems to be the SORT function in Windows is telling Lies !!!

I've got the file names in the correct sequence -- it only happens on a few albums bit it's mega annoying since if I'm playing an Audiobook in a Car I obviously want the tracks to be in the CORRECT sequence.

Here's an example of what a music app shows the order - and from MP3Vtag you can see the filenames are in the correct sequence.

Any ideas (note the music app for playing these can be any - same problem).

Cheers

Hi,

I have been trying to solve this problem over a month. I've been copying over 5 years without problem but now I am having this problem, that dvds are showing pixels on my standalone dvd player. To make sure that the standalone works fine, I tried copies with another computer and they play fine on it.

I always used Maxell media without problem. Now I tried Verbatim and TDK media to make sure if the media is not the problem and they showed pixels as well.

After deleting unwanted and old software from the computer I scanned computer for viruses, I replaced the dvd burner with a new one, I replaced the memory with a new one of 1gB, I replaced the SATA cable and the cable that is connected with the burner and the mother board as well. But I still have the problem!

Any help or idea what can be the problem?

Here is my system information:

A:Burned DVDs Show Pixels

Pixellation usually occurs when the quality setting is too low in your dvd creation software.
Choosing a lower quality increases the amount of compression and this in turn means more detail and sharpness is lost. The resulting video can then appear pixellated.

Hello wfleenor, and welcome to TSG.

Did you burn the CDs as music CDs or did you burn the song files onto a data CD? Some CD players will only play music CDs while some DVD players will play music files (MP3 , M4A, WMA, etc) burned on a data CD. Some older CD players had problems reading from CD-RW disc.

I am using musicmatch to burn mp3 cds. If I put 20 songs on a mp3 cd, my player will play it. If I put 200 songs on a mp3 cd, my player will try to read it and then fail...it doesn't give a message it just stops trying to read the cd after a few minutes. I haven't found where the cutoff point is i.e. will it play 51 songs but not 52.

It seems like my cd player doesn't have enough processing power to read all 200 tracks. Would it help if I put some songs in folders?

I have recently tried to synchronise my MP3 player (not an iPOD) with Windows Media Player 11. I got a red x marked against about 300 of 710 tracks and errors indicating they didn't make it across.
On investigating where the files where located for these I found that they were all within my "Music" folder but were not in sub-folders naming the album/artist. The majority of them were burned by me from various CDs picking a track off one, two off another etc.

Does anyone know why this might have caused a problem and how I might rectify it. Just about all the tracks are 320kbs quality.

thanks in advance, night time here , will check back here in the morning for replies.

The ever so clever people at Curtis have came up with a 2GB mp3 player with no LCD screen, 4 hours battery life and no random mode. Anyone who has a basic understanding of mathematics knows that you wont get very far through 500 music tracks in 4 hours. And that every time you play it, you'll have the same futile attempt, soomed to listen to the same 80 tracks over and over again. Unless you feel like rapidly pressing the "next song" key a hundred times or so.

However... I'm hoping theres soem way to convince this thing to play in shuffle mode... It's an MP2012UK curtis 2GB MP3 player. I already had to convert it to FAT32 myself, because otherwise it wouldnt even hold 150 tracks. Someone up at Curtis needs to get fired for these slip ups.

But regardless if anyone knows how to force it to use shuffle (there is no function on the player for that) or knows anyone that might know, please let me know.

Hi,

At one point i believe i smelled burning plastic. All fans on my system works including the one on my ATI card. My power supply is 400 Watts and the power supply came with the case.

I have a:
amd 4000+ socket 747
1 gb corsair ram
2 hard drives 7200rmp
sound blaster gamer 2zs

Today I was playing NBA live 07 and my computer just shut down and now when i press the power button to turn it on, electricity runs through the system for half a second. The led lights turn on and off and the fans do as well (including the fan on the ATI x800). On the mother board the small red light is on when the power is connected.

How should I go about fixing this problem?
Is it the problem with power supply or the video card?

It looks like i might have to replace something. Is it the power supply?
I've had this system for a few years now.

Any help would be appericiated.

I'm using version 11 of windows media player on Windows XP, usually play audio files rather than directly from CDs, and it usually runs smoothly.
Recently however WMP has been skipping to the 'next track' by itself, either a few seconds or a few minutes into the previous song. I don't have shuffle on, all download licences are up to date and no error messages appear.
I've also run various anti-malware and virus scans but come up with nothing.

Any suggestions to how I could fix this?

I have recently installed WMP as my means of saving and playing music and wondered if anyone can suggest a good way of obtaining music tracks to play on it. In other words, are there some recommended websites where I can find tracks, albums, etc., of my favourites artists and orchestras, (mainly Easy Listening and Classical), so that I can download and save them to WMP and play them as required? Quite happy if they require to be paid for, but I'm just not sure where to go to get such tracks. Thanks for any advice.

I opened Media Player (9 Series), clicked Add Files To Library By Searching Computer, browsed to the E:\Music folder (Where everything is) and hit enter. I knew it'd take a while, so I left it.
I came back and it had frozen, with only 176 tracks added!
I hit cancel, the whole thing froze up, so I ended the process in the task manager.

Even if I do it folder by folder, the damn thing won't work, it does like half the folder and then dies

Anyway to fix this ????

I have located them in the registry but they do not seem to be applied to all users.
Below is the registry settings I have set

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"Hidden"=dword:00000001
"HideFileExt"=dword:00000000

When I create a new account to test the folder options are still hiding hidden files and not showing extensions.

Any suggestions

A:show hidden folders show file extensions thru registry

You're close but in the wrong area.

Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"HideFileExt"=dword:00000000
"Hidden"=dword:00000001
show and hide files is a profile specific key and therefore can be modified by user accounts. if you would like to change the default, navigate to key:
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\current version\explorer\advanced\folder\hidden and \hidefileext
there are keys in there that set default behaviors.

If the CD was never burned, those files were never "in" a folder. They MAY have been saved in a temporary file somewhere, but it only looks like they are in a folder prior to a burn.

This happened because your method was wrong, it seems. Had you first copied the files/folders to a folder on the "C:\" drive, they would have been safe. Then you could have transfered them to CD.

Hi,
I burned my first CD about 2 months ago, it played perfect on a cheap CD player(portable). Today I tried to play it in my DVD Rom on my computer and it would not play. Then I tried the same portable player as before....and it seemed to skip alot. I started over and it skipped again. Then I tried it in my stereo system CD player. About 30 seconds in it would not continue. Next, I tried to play it on my DVD player(table top model). It played fine so I decided to try it one more time....this time it had trouble.....then the 3rd time played fine. I have spent over 100 hours downloading files to burn CD's for a friend in Asia. I hate to get over there and they are all corrupt or something. I was told that burned CD's(mp3) would play on ANY and ALL CD players of any and all kind. They were burned on Office Depot CD-R's but if they were not good quality they could not sell them, I assume. I guess my question is can a file(music)on a CD go corrupt or bad? or is it the CD player that causes the skip? I assumed the CD would play first time every time if it had been burned properly, now I am worried I give my friend a bunch of CD's that are junk. I use Nero, it works great and get my music from WINMX. Anybody got opinions on the CD that plays one time but not the next? MUST they be played ONLY on MP3 compatible players? The cheap one I have does not say MP3 but it does say CD re-writable compatible, is a Phillips model with 40 second anti skip. What is anti-skip?... Read more

A:Play differnt audio tracks for video media player

I don't think WMP can handle multiple audio tracks. (I think by default it plays them both at the same time - at least in my experience).
Use Media Player Classic (freeware and very tidy - unzip on your desktop, and just run the file - no install, no junk). After you open your video, click on play, audio, and select the audio track you want to hear.

I prepared a playlist of tracks taken from 4 or 5 different CDs (mp3 files) in 'My Music' after which I opened it in WMP (v.11). The problem is that the tracks are not played in the order I originally devised and, what's more, WMP has somehow managed to change the order of the tracks also in the 'My Music' folder. I'm sure this is to do with the original track numbers on the CDs. How can I 'fix' the order of the tracks in my playlist?

A:Windows Media Player keeps changing the order of tracks in playlist

This is what I found out The songs play in the order they are entered into the playlist viewed on the right side of the player.

Windows 98SE
Windows Media Player 9
Hi everybody. I have been messing around with the settings in WMP and now when I pick tracks from All Music in the "Now Playing" mode some of the tracks turn red and will not play. About 50% of the tracks are affected. Can anyone tell me how to put this right? Thanx Ted.

A:(Solved) Windows Media Player wont play some tracks

ecarter,

I too had the same problem - it was the Beta Version of WMP9. In my case it was because WMP kept trying to access the internet and I blocked it with my Firewall. Sure enough each time the tracklist turned red and refused to play. It happened every time. Are you using the Beta or the Final Release ?

I believe its a consequence of the new Digital Rights Management project that MS conceived to try and stem use of pirated music.

Each WMP has a 'Unique Identifier Number' - Uncle Bill needs it to 'help maximize your internet experience'. :-(

While waiting for more replies you might care to check out this site as there are steps on troubleshooting / tweaking WMP.

See menu on left - particularly 'DRM'.

Not sure this is the cause of your problem so of course keep posting back.

I have a new Asus laptop. When I went to burn recovery discs as advised, the instructions popping up on screen were not clear and I ended up moving the files to the temporary burn folder. Eventually I figured out how to proceed with the real burn and did end up with my recovery discs, however I still have the files in temporary burn and am being notified about them every time I turn on my computer. I'm scared if I remove them I will be deleting the actual recovery files.
Any reassurance would be appreciated!

A:Folders burned to recovery disc are still in burn folder

as far as I know, they aare just links to the original files. no harm of deleting them. if you're not sure wait for another one to confirm and do some googling. cheers!

2 Weeks ago I started having problems copying and pasting files/folders in windows XP Pro to my Hard drive. Some of my games will not even install properly anymore that I have installed before that worked. It's not my CD-RW drive, as I just bought a new LG 3 days ago.

The errors I get are:

"Error: Invalid MS-Dos command" when I paste and:
"Error: Invalid Parameters" When copying and pasting a file from cd to HD. With instalations it just tells me that a certain file can not be read or installed and the instalation cancels.

PLEASE HELP! I don't want to resolve to formatting.

Thanks in Advance :)

PS. I installed software/Drivers for my Sony MD Player just before I started having these problems.

A:Sudden Trouble Reading Files/folders off Burned Cds

:smash:
A really basic trick, try uninstalling the new cdrom completely, even disconnect the IDE cable and plug the old one back in. See if the old one works correctly, if so uninstall it totaly, and then reinstall the new one. I'm thinking it may be a device driver error sneaking in on a legacy device driver. As allways, check device manager for errors, and event viewer for informaion.

I just installed MS Outlook 2002 that came with my t-mobile MDA pocketpc/smartphone w/ windows mobile 5.0, and when I click the calendar shortcut, I get "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location." When I click the contacts shortcut, I get the calendar. The tasks shortcut gives me notes. Notes shortcut gives me journal. Both Outlook Today and Deleted Items gives me Outlook Today.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've updated through windows, microsoft, and office updates. I'm running win xp pro w/ sp2 and office xp.

When I right click the calendar shortcut, I get: "! unable to display folder properties. the folder may have been deleted or the server where the folder is stored may be unavailable. can't display folder properties."

When I go to what I think is the the directory of these folders, I don't see any of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have an IMAC and i tried burning a photo cd using kodak easy share i have used both + and - dvd's and my bose 321 series II player keeps saying wrong format is there anything eles i need to figure out, or change

A:burned dvd won't play in player

Hi Ummagumma, and welcome to TSG?

Is there anything in the 3-2-1 Series II user manual that says it will display pictures stored on a Kodak format Photo CD (or Photo DVD in your case)? If not, that could be the reason for the "Wrong Format" error message.

I have 2 CD reader/writers in a Dell Dimension 4100 w/ Windows XP Home and neither one will read burned CD's (used both Roxio and Nero to burn several attempts). It merely says "BlanK CD", but both CD players will read store bought CD's (data, music, games, whatever) no problem. Upon removing both CD players and installing in another computer, the other computer reads the same burned CD's just fine. The other computer is an even older Dell with Windows ME and is in poor shape. The problem appears to be with the newer machine, not the CD players. Anyone seen this before?

Run this wizard with the drives installed in the 4100, see if it finds any issues.

I burned a DVD on my computer. It plays on the computer, but when I tried to play it on my Blu-Ray player, it would not play and there was an error message saying the disk was "invalid."

Details:
The video file has a VIDEO_TS folder with .bup, .ifo, and .vob files.
Used ImgBurn version 2.5.8 to burn the DVD.
The DVD is a Verbatim DVD+R.
My computer runs Windows 7.
My Blu-ray player is a Sony.

Any ideas?

A:Blu-ray player says burned DVD is invalid

A stand alone blu-ray player, or DVD/CD player for that matter, requires that the disc is processed in a certain way called 'closing'. This process means that the disc is closed and no more data can be added to it. The player in a computer does not require this additional stage to be done for it to be able to play the disc. It sounds like this is your problem.

Your only solution may be to re-burn the disc after looking at the options before you start the process. Look for an option that says 'closed' or 'finished' and make sure it is selected.

I made a WMV file with Windows Movie Maker, burned it to DVD, played in BD player and sound is awful. When played in PC, no problem at all. Should I convert it to MP4? Any suggestions? Thank you for your help!

A:burned DVD - sound is not right in BD player

Did you create an actual Video DVD or just burn the file to dvd as data? There is a huge difference in how it will be played. As you suggest converting it to mp4, it sounds like you simply burned as data, in which case, most likely the BD player is having trouble playing the file format used (wmv?).

If you are going use the BD player for file playback, you need to ensure the player supports the file types that you are trying to use. Support requires more than just the container (ie: avi, mp4, mkv, etc.) to be supported, you also have to watch the codecs used (ie: the actual video codec and the audio codec) and the specs (ie: video resolution, video bitrate, audio bitrate, etc.). If ANY of the above are not supported, you will have playback issues.
