I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone,

We are currently using a HP Proliant DL380 G6 that has an array consisting of 8x72GB SAS drives. I am looking to add a second array to this machine. I have done some research but haven't found much on the topic. I am beginning to wonder if this is even at all possible.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,
Dan

I want to upgrade the CPU's in my HP ProLiant DL160 G6 from the Intel Xeons L5630's to more capable ones, but I'm worried about the TDP, as the heatsinks are sort of small, it being a U1 rack server. I was looking at 6 cored ones with TDP's of 130 watts, and I was somewhat skeptical of 130 watts on the tiny heatsinks. Is there a larger heatsink option available or a rated TDP for the stock heatsinks? Joshua.

Hi, i wonder if someone could shed a little light on this problem for me please.

Can i upgrade the processor in a Compaq ProLiant 400 that is currently running a 350 MHz (Slot 1) Pentium II processor?

I know that the last ProLiant 400's ran with 650 MHz Pentium III processor. Is it possible to upgrade from P II 350MHz to P III 600MHz?

I looked at the switches on the Motherboard and saw that there were dip switch settings for all processors from 350 to 550. Does this mean that i can only go up to 550 MHz, or will I need to make additional changes to upgrade from my 350MHz?

Has anyone done this?

Any advice/ pointers gratefully accepted

Thanks in advance

A:Compaq Proliant 400 CPU Upgrade

This page says that there are no differences between the generations of PL 400. I would assume this means that you can put a PIII 600 into your machine with no problems.

Of course you can confirm it at some Compaq support firm. I'm sure they will be glad to help you if you hint them that you are going to buy the CPU from them

I created a Storage pool with the following setup. Three 3TB drives with parity all in an external enclosure with eSata and USB 2/3 ports. It was connected via USB when created and had production data loaded and tested without any issues.
After a few days of use I decided to see what happened when I tried to access it via the eSata port. No luck, due to a driver on the eSata card issue with Win 8. So I powered all back down and plugged back in via USB. At this point the Storage pool went
into the state as per the screenshot below. Any suggestions to either fix the issue and/or retrieve the data that is in the volume?

Hello everyone, Hope all doing really well with life! I've done quite a research to look for an SSD to upgrade my laptop for, my laptop is quite decent for simple work and for some normal amount of gaming as well. But its high time that I need an SSD in this puppy. In about a few months of time I haven't been able to decide which would be the best "Budget" SSD (240/256/250GB) among popular brands that I could get my hands on. I'm staying in Malaysia btw. My main concern is not the Read/Write speeds, its the Random 4K performance and maximum IOPS that I'm more concerned about as a good SSD is determined by those numbers. Can anyone help me in my research? Regards,Zarak.

Yeah. See pages 44-55 of the Manual here: Service Manual You can replace the 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA hard drive with a 2 TB model: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Laptop-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST2000LM007/dp/B01C4W2P18/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1483397992&sr=8-2&keywords=2+TB+2.5+inch+hard+drive The memory can be upgraded to 16 gigs by adding another 8 gig module: 8-GB (DDR3L-1600) 693374-005 https://www.amazon.com/HP-PC3L-12800-DDR3L-1600-SODIMM-Notebooks/dp/B00ILBWRRO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1483398070&sr=8-2&keywords=693374-005  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Currently there is 8GB worth of updates that need to be installed and no room to do so.  I'm not the smartest when it comes to computer hardware so I hope this information was all that was needed.

[POST EDITED: Found answers to my RAM question] I've got a T-450s from 2015 that I'd like to upgrade and speed up for a while before I buy a new machine. Model # is 20BX001LUSSpecs are as follows: Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7RAM 8 GB DDR3L SDRAMMemory Speed 1600 MHzHard Drive 256 GB Serial ATA-600Graphics Coprocessor Intel HD Graphics 5500Chipset Brand intelCard Description Integrated, DedicatedWireless Type 802.11bgnI would like to upgrade the amount of RAM and storage size with the goal of speeding up the machine and giving a little more room for the hard drive, which is nearing capacity. I'd really like to put an M2 SSD, or some sort of drive that will speed up boot time in there but, from everything I see online, I can either have a wireless LAN card or an M2 drive, but not both.  Is this correct?  Is there some other similar drive that would fit in another slot but provide the same benefit as an M2 drive? Additionally, research seems to indicate that I've got 8 gigs (2x 4gig) RAM chips soldered to the motherboard and one expansions slot that will support an additional 4 gigs of RAM.  Is this correct?  If so, is there a particular brand/spec 4gig RAM chip that I should buy in order to ensure compatibility? Thanks in advance for any answers.

A:T-450 from 2015 Storage & RAM Upgrade

Hello and welcome,

To your two questions "is this correct" ... no and no.

The m.2 slot is either an SSD or a WWAN (cellular) card.  Your wifi (WLAN) card is in a different slot.

As to RAM, the way I read the base spec there's 4GB soldered + a single slot.  You could pull the 4GB stick that's in the slot and install an 8GB stick for 12GB total.  I don't know if you could use a 16GB RAM module in that slot.

I've recently purchased an M720s (i5-8400 - 180W PSU model) and would like to add a GPU for "light" gaming. I've looked at the GT 1030 but I'm unsure whether the PSU will be able to handle the graphics card. Will the PSU be able to handle the GPU? I also plan to add a 2TB 3.5" drive and an extra SSD, how will I be able to provide power to these extra drives? I'm only able to find 2 tiny ports for powering the current disk drive and primary SSD. If the PSU won't be able to handle it, and I need to upgrade, please can someone suggest a suitable PSU for this desktop? Thanks.

Two questions:1. The notebook came with a default M.2 SATA SSD. Can I change and use an M.2 NVME SSD like Samsung 960 EVO?2. Can I install a 2.5" SATA/NVME SSD? I haven't checked the internal of the laptop, not sure if there is space for 2.5" SSD.

A:Storage upgrade option

Here's the Manual: Manual Only SATA-III M.2 mSSD disks are supported. See p. 2.  Also see p. 35: "The hard drive spare part kit does not include the hard drive bracket or cable. The hard drive bracket is not spared separately. The hard drive cable is available using spare part number 856205-001. The solid-state hard drive cable is available using spare part number 856202-001." Also see the image of the whole inside of the laptop with the rear cover removed on p. 34.  Here's what we can say based solely on the on the images in the manual. You have an M.2 SATA disk installed which likely sits in a slot to the right of the battery. A 2.5 inch hard drive or SSD can be installed to the left of the battery. But, since your laptop did not get shipped with a 2.5 inch disk you would need a 2.5 inch SSD PLUS the hard drive bracket and then a cable to attach the 2.5 inch SSD to the motherboard.  There is no such thing as a 2.5 inch SATA/NVME SSD. All 2.5 inch SSDs are SATA and the speed of a 2.5 inch SATA is essentially the same as a SATA M.2. A PCIe/NVME M.2 disk is about 3 times as fast as either one. But your laptop does not support that technology.  Also if you look at page 20 there is some reference to a solid state drive connector board. I think you can maybe actually put 2 x M.2 SATA mSSD boards in it; one to the left of the battery and one to the right of the battery. The one to the left needs an adapter board and cable... Hello all,

Where I work we have several servers
Our DC is probably pushing 15 years old (at least)
1 voicemail server
1 security camera server
3 File Servers
and our "tower of power" which is 3 Compaq Evos which serve as our WebCTRL servers and FTP server.

We have 811 GB of storage between the 3 file servers and are down to less than 80GB free space total. We have recently purchased a new Large Format scanner and started an initiative to start storing everything paperless which has really cut down on the free space drastically and brought up the need for more storage. I was looking at 3 options and wanted to know which people here thought was the best (I will also tell which I was planning on going with and would like to know if you think that is the right way to go).

All 3 options are for an additional 1 TB of storage, with the ability to add more in the future if needed (empty drive bays)

Our first option is to go the way we have always gone in the past and get a new server. I don't think that is best, but I could be wrong, because we would only be using it as a file server and not running programs off of it.

Option two is a NAS, but I don't know very much about those so I'm not sure if that would be a good option or not.

The third option is the one I was leaning toward, and that is a DAS, specifically the Dell PowerVault MD1000 (with PowerVault 124T autoloader for backup tapes)
I'm really new to all of this so I would appreciate any... Read more

The 32GB flash is somehow tied to my boot drive to improve practical speed by keeping some files on the SSD for faster loading. In the user manual for my product it says that my laptop has support for 160GB SSD.Does this really mean that larger SSD drives are not supported? If so then it would not be worth upgrading. Also would it be possible to change the 32GB flash drive for a larger one? And if so then can that drive be confugured as a boot drive (disabelling hybrid storage)?  This way I could keep both 1TB drives.

I own a HP EliteBook 8570W and I'm planning on reinstalling the OS. Because of this, it seems like the perfect time for storage upgrade. I currently have a 500GB HDD and a 24GB SSD for cache storage. I found three options to upgrade the storage: Replace the HDD with a 2.5? SDD with the capacity of 1TBAdd a HDD caddy and put the HDD in there. And use a 500GB 2.5? SDD on the place of the HDDRemove the cache storage and install a 500 GB M.2 SSD Which solutions are possible and would you recommend? Energy consumption doesn?t really matter because I use the notebook primarily with the adapter. The first option costs about twice as much as the other ones and I have a lot of idle data, so I prefer one of the last two options. Thank you for helping!

A:Storage upgrade for HP EliteBook 8570W

@Patronium Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! My limited understanding of these "hybrid" PCs is that the SSD is formatted to serve purely as a caching device for Windows, so having a larger one wil not benefit you in any way because nothing is stored there on a permanent basis. You would do better upgrading the HDD to one with larger capacity or to an SSD to replace it, for better performance. Personally, I would go with option 1 as that offers (IMHO) the best improvement in both drive space and runtime performance. If you want to save money, then go with a 500GB SSD instead, as that will still improve runtime performance.Good Luck

Any problems arise and if so what was the work around? Secondly.. Does my computer have expandale memory, and if so to how much? I'm planning to add extra Hard disk to store my games and files on it (doesn't matter whether it's HDD or SSD) but I have a ZERO experience and knowledge about upgrading it.
Is it possible for my configuration to add an extra HD? And if it is possible: Do I just open the back of the laptop and put the hard drive and it will work or do I have to do other things?
And do you suggest any specific hard drive? 500gb will be enough or I could wait until the Black Friday and get a 1 TB ssd.
Thanks in advance

Sorry for the cross-post but thought it best to post a new topic to be specific.Following on from this topic... Are there any 120S variants that have eMMC and the M.2 port? Unless some variant shipped without the M.2 connector, I would suggest all of them have it. From the manual, even the 120S-11IAP with HDD variant still looks like it has the M.2 port - not that you can use it (the battery appears to interfere). In fact, if all variants ship with the M.2 connector, then the only variant that cannot use the M.2 port would be the 120S-11IAP with HDD, yes..?!?! The units without a HDD appear to have an "L" shaped battery pack that occupies the HDD location exposing the M.2 slot. Can anyone confirm whether the 81A5008SAU variant sold in Australia has the M.2 connector and "L" shaped battery pack...?

My updates are not done because there is no space. Apps can only be saved on the internal drive, they cannot be diverted to the SD card.

A:How do I upgrade OR add memory/storage to my HP Stream Noteb...

The memory (RAM) and Internal Storage (eMMC memory) is embedded and not able to be upgraded on the HP Stream devices.   All you have the option to do is add an SD Card, which won't solve your problem.     You're limited to removing Apps or other files you do not use regularly to free up space. Brian

Can anyone confirm whether the 81A400DNAU variant sold in Australia has the M.2 connector and "L" shaped battery pack...?

Below is the current storage configuration in my U530 Touch. I am looking to upgrade one of both because the system is very slow and I don't think it's RAM (I have 8 GB). I am looking at these two items below. Should I just upgrade the HDD, the SSD or both? Again, my only purpose is speed. I am willing to lose everything and reinstall Windows. WD 1TB 8GB NAND SATA III 6.0Gb/s 2.5" 7mm Slim SSHD MyDigitalSSD 128GB Super Boot 2 (SB2) 42mm M.2 2242 NGFF SATA III (6G) SSD (128GB 2242) Thanks in advance! 5400 RPM HDD (1TB)M.2 42mm SSD (16GB)

I just made purchased a new computer and would like to replace the HDD with an SSD. I haven't turned on the computer yet. Could I just swap out the drives and use a windows 10 boot disk, or is it better to turn the computer on and setup the windows 10 that it came with and then clone the SDD? (This will be go in the 2.5" bay of this computer - http://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/GL552VW/specifications/).

Thanks!

Currently on Win7 Home Prem. SP1. New computer will be Windows 10.

I have a Hp Envy that I want to update with better m.2 NVME ssd than that comes with the product since it is nor fast in write or big enough capacity for my taste (128gb) but I don't want to void the warranty by doing so.can it be done without voiding the warranty  by the way will this be compatible :Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 500GB

A:Warranty question with upgrade of storage in hp envy 13

Need the specific model number to be sure but just in general if you open the chassis you place the warranty in risk. Shame you have to choose between having the laptop as you want it or being 100% sure you have a warranty but that is just the way it is. Users are having issues using M.2 PCIe mSSD disks other than the OEM Samsung SM951 in HP laptops. I just read a long post here from a user who struggled getting a Samsung 950 Pro working in an HP laptop to replace an SM951. Happy to link you to that and any other information you may need once I have your specific model number.

Hi All, I just bought a second hand lenovo thinkpand t470s that has core i5 and 8gb of ram, and 256GB NvMe storage. I was wondering to what capacity can I upgrade the ram? Right now I have one slot of ram available and there is a 4GB DDR4 ram stick in there. Can I replace this with a 16gb DDR4? Also there is a 256GB NVME storage, whats the max capacity that I can replace this with? Can I replace it with 1TB?  will upgrading these parts create overheating problems? and how much will the ram and or NVME upgrade stress my battery life? anyone that has done this upgrade for this mode? Thanks.

Hey all, I've gotten two different answers to this simple question, and it's a little ridiculous. Does my warranty get voided if I upgrade my storage myself?Obviously I'm never going to put a sketchy drive in my device, I'm thinking maybe put a Samsung 860 Evo pro m.2 drive in my computer, cause the 1tb is more affordable third party through samsung, rather than the lenovo offering on the parts portal.  I've been told yes and no from two different technical support reps. Which is true? TIA

A:Differing Warranty Information - Storage Upgrade t480s

You can change the SSD and keep the warranty intact.  Obviously, the drive you put in isn't covered, and if you break the machine doing the install, its your problem.
