Belkin Wireless network setup. It wont work now service pack 2 is installed.

Q: Belkin Wireless network setup. It wont work now service pack 2 is installed.

hey all.
I am new to this so I would just like to say hi to everyone. I hope you can help me.
Last night I set up a wireless network in my house. My pc is connected to a Belkin wireless modem/router (through a network cable) and my landladies pc is connected via a belkin network notebook card.
To cut a long story short I got it all working and I noticed that my landlady had not been updating her windows upadtes on her pc. I installed windows service pack 2 and i have not been able to connect to the internet since. It says I have an excellent connection to the network but the internet wont work!!!!
I have turned the firewall off on my landladies pc but it makes no difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Matt

Preferred Solution: Belkin Wireless network setup. It wont work now service pack 2 is installed.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Belkin USB Wireless Connector - Installed correctly (apparently) but still wont work?

OS: Vista Home Premium (32-bit)

I recently had to reformat my computer, and I got the drivers and everything working again.

But now when I install it says it install correctly and the program files are there, but then. When I go to run the main Belkin program it get a Broadcom.dll error.

It did work before I had to re-install Vista.

And I've tried everything, including getting new drivers from Belkins website, and I ran them, but again no luck.

Any help would be good

Kind regards,
Simon / Sekonda

Now I've already checked through dozen's of things. It's not the cable, it's not the sockets, infact, all the hardware is working fine. It's not my internet provider as I'm using that right now on my second PC and it works fine.

I'll explain the problem. I got a New PC, I put it together, set everything up, the internet worked fine.

Then I installed Windows XP service pack 2 and the problem started.

It'll connect to the internet, for about a minute or 2, reaaaaaaaaaally slowly, then the connection will fail. If I dissconnect and reconnect, I can get it working again, but only for a moment.

I tried connecting it through my second PC and I had the exact same probelm.

Could you help please?

I'm trying (desperately) to set up my network on Windows 7, but have hit a bump in that it just cannot find my network.

I checked Device Manager to see if the card was found - it was with a troubleshoot exclamation point on it.

I removed the card, used the installation disc and am not able to get very far. After the install (after which nothing happens), I click on the Belkin Wireless Networking Utility icon on the desktop and it says "missing shortcut: searching for Belkinwcui.exe", after which I get a window saying "The item Belkinwcui.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed of moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly".

That exe file isn't anywhere in my computer, searching through Explorer. In fact, in the Belkin install folder (Program Files (x86) -> Belkin ->FSD8001v1...) there just looks like maybe a driver (AegisE5.dll) and an application (AegisI5) that doesn't run.

My next choice, I guess is to take my PC upstairs and line it into my modem/base station directly, but I'd rather not move it.

Am I missing something? Why won't this work? How come I can't install my Wireless Card?

Please help, if you can. Thanks.

A:Cannot Setup Wireless Network (Belkin N1 Network Card)

I'm experiencing an almost identical issue. I had the same problems with the installation disc. After multiple install / unistall / restarts I was able to get the client installed. However, when I click to open the .exe nothing happens.

On top of that, the system is not recognizing the card. I tried all 4 PCI slots with no success.

I installed this same card (same model, different physical card) on a pc running xp sp3 very easily. Since that was so easy I bought another card for my windows 7 machine.

However, I was lazy and didn't do any research. Before I came upon this forumn I found a couple of google links saying this card was incompatible with vista (therefore incompatible with w7?).

Any else out there get this card working?

Hey guys. I have a really weird issue with my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Here are the details.

I tried to install a wireless network adapter. The installation appeared successful. Device manager tells me that the device should be working properly. It also shows up as an entry in System Information. But it does not show up in ipconfig/all and it does not even work or scan for network. When I try to use the Window diagnostic tool, it says that something is wrong with the driver.

I've tried two network adapter:
PCIe TP-LINK 450Mbps
USB D-Link DWA-160 Xtreme N Dual Band

My friend tried replacing my hard drive and did a fresh Windows 10 install and the card worked fine. So it is not a hardware issue.

Here are security softwares that I use:
Microsoft Security Essentials
Zone Alarm
Spybot

I am looking for a solution that does not require me to re-install Windows 7. My Windows 7 disc is buried in a pile of boxes.

Can anyone help me to solve this mystery?

Hi, I'm on a Macbook running Windows XP through bootcamp and I can't install some drivers needed for Windows (for the Macbook) hardware without upgrading to SP2, although I have manually installed some I still cannot get full functionality without them and I have to fix the error.

This is the exact error text as follows(this error came up during the installation wizard):

There is not enough disk space on C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$ to install Service Pack 2. Setup requires a minimum of 4 additional megabytes of free space or if you also want to archive the files for uninstallation, Setup requires 4 additional megabytes of free space. Free additional space on your hard disk and then try again.

The reason I find this odd is that I have approximately 24gb of space free. Is this a permission issue? How can I fix this?

Double check to make sure you have allocated enough memory thoguh bootcamp to run/install the SP2 update. It may also be a recognition error as you are using a MAC as opposed to a Windows PC

Hello,
Recently I've been trying to install XP SP2 on a system that was recovered using an XP upgrade disc that only had SP1. The setup program gets through backing up, creating a restore point and so on, but during the actual file installation process, an error causes setup to abort and undo all changes made (rollback). Hello, first post in this forum.

I stumbled upon this thread when searching for an answer to almost the exact issue you had. I was curious as to if you ever found a solution to the problem? I did a respair of XP Home with the original CD that had SP1, however, prior to the repair the system had been upgraded to SP2. I think this is where my problem is. The system will install a few updates but will consistently fail on SP2 stating "Service Pack 2 Set up Error" "Service Pack 2 installation did not complete." Im not sure what to do at this point. Any help would really go along way.

My thought is to try doing a repair again but with a XP home CD slipstreamed with SP2. Not sure how well that would go over. My just cause me more trouble. PLease help if you can!

Thanks

I'm installing Windows 7 on an Eee PC 904HA. I've installed Windows 7 a number of times on laptops but in this case my first install failed (updates got stuck - I'm blaming IE11). So I started again after reformatting and noticed, as in first attempt, that Service Pack 1 installs twice - same kb number. It comes up on an early set of updates, installs ok, then comes up on the next set of updates and installs ok again. It is showing as successfully installed twice! I'm just carrying on with updates for now (but NOT IE11 - had problems with that in the past and I reckon it's not compatible with older hardware) but does anyone know why Service Pack 1 is installed twice and should I do anything about it? Thanks.

A:Service Pack 1 has installed twice

That should not be a problem. It merely installs over itself again. Bottom line you actually have it only once.

Hello,

The Microsoft KB article 915169 outlines the following solution:

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

In the Services dialog box, right-click Cryptographic Services, and then click Properties.
In the Cryptographic Service Properties dialog box, click the General tab, and then click Stop.
The Service Status option changes to Stopped.
Delete the Windows Update.log files:
Click Start, click My Computer, and then double-click the hard disk drive where Windows XP is installed. For example, double-click drive C.
Click the Folders box, click the Windows folder, and then click the System32 folder.

After several successful SP3 installs, I ran into this same problem on one system that had been horribly infected with malware. I suspect the infections may have played a part in the problem.

The files "clbcatex.dll" and "clbcatq.dll" are both present in system32, but neither are visible to the shell. I first detected them using RootAlyzer, then used a Linux live CD to remove them before running the above-suggested COM+ fix. Still no joy.

Unfortunately, I didn't have long to play around with this computer, so I ran the SP3 install again and, when it failed to find clbcatq.dll, I pointed it to an SP2 distribution folder that had been slipstreamed with post-SP2 updates. This allowed the job to complete. I'm not happy with this solution, but the system is working. If I hear of a proper fix, I'll visit this system again.

This is my 5th SP3 install this week, and so far the only one having any issues at all. The installer gets about half-way through then returns an error about being unable to find clbcatq.dll. If I choose to continue without the file, setup then complains about clbcatex.dll missing. Chosing to continue without that one causes Setup to abort.

I just ran across the bit about making sure certain updates were not installed, and I'll check that in the morning. Anyone else have additional suggestions?

A:Service Pack 3 setup can't find clbcatq.dll

Greetings DrMorganes,

SP3 is quite stable; however, if you have an ASUS™ Motherboard and/or an AMD CPU there are a few minor issues, that will be sorted out by Microsoft? within the next few weeks.
SP3 contains all the Windows Updates since the release of SP2; however, if you have kept your updates current, it will only install the added enhancements that are with the Service Pack.

That said, and on a positive note, SP3 can be downloaded as a standalone installation here.

I recommend that you download and "Save" it to your computer, rather than "Open or Run" it.
Once downloaded, right click the icon and go "unblock".
Before installing SP3 create a Restore Point just in case there are any issues ( although I doubt it).
Disconnect from the Internet (pull the power from the modem/router) and disable any third party Pop-up Blockers and aggressive spyware programs, such as, Spyware Terminator™; then, start the installation.
At the end of the installation, you will need to reboot the computer, at which time you can reconnect everything that was disabled to allow the installation.
Post back with the results.

Kind Regards,

NOW, I had SP2 installed and operational prior to the virus problems. Now my system tells me I don't have SP2 when I try to install other updates, etc. but, when I go to Microsoft to download/install SP2, it tells me I already have SP2 installed on my system. My biggest concern now is that I'm not as protected as I should be without SP2 properly istalled.

For the first time, I have now needed to connect to a USB 2.O port for a SanDisk Cruzer USB Flash Drive. It will work but at 1.O speed. A message appears "Hi speed USB Device attached to non hi-speed hub". I checked my motherboard's handbook and the ports that are being used are for USB 2.0. The motherboard manufacturer states that the drivers in my Service Pack 1 needed to be activated for the USB 2.O. However, using the automatic driver update function thru XP'S Device Manager indicates those installed are the most current.

1. How can I really check what version of USB drivers are really installed and

A:MS Service Pack 1 Installed but USB 2.O Not Running

I wouldn't look to MS to provide USB 2.0 drivers; rather I would get them direct from the M/B manufacturer. Also, consider the possiblity that your M/B doesn't support USB 2.0. This happened to me.

Also (my favorite word), some M/B's have jumpers to enable/disable USB 2.0, as well as BIOS settings that do the same. I'd check BIOS first, to make sure it is enabled. Then verify that the M/B supports it. Then get manufacturer's drivers. Then start looking at the jumpers.

A few ways you can determine what level of service pack you have installed:

1. Run WINVER. This will show the OS, the Service Pack and the actual service pack build number

2. WindowsKey+Break - Just the OS and Service Pack number

3. Control Panel / System - Same screen as #2

If you want to determine the service pack level of the files on a CD before you install it, there are a few options.

One is to simply look on the CD itself.

Another option is to simply look at the dates on the files:

1. The bulk of the XP files should be dated sometime around 2001

2. If you have SP1, there will be files dated around 8/2002 (or somewhere between #1 and #3

3. If you have SP2, there will be files dated around 8/2004

Any other ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

When I checked my add and remove programs on my XP home edition it showed a yellow box with a capital P in the center. It says windows xp service pack 3 used rarely last used 6/21/2008. I don't remember installing it as windows updates are suppose to notify me first. Is it on my computer? How do I tell?

Try Start > Control Panel. Double-click System, then click the General tab. The SP version should be listed there.

Does anyone know how to burn a CD with the Windows 2000 Pro OS on it and updated with Service Pack 3? I know I've seen this procedure somewhere before but I don't have a clue where it was. All I've got right now is Win 2K Pro with SP1. This makes me have to update to SP3 everytime I need to go through this procedure. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
I've tried to install service pack 3 on a c731tu compaq laptop.
Installed very nicely, but now the USB port doesn't recognise a 2gb drive.
Didn't play with it enough to see if it was all USB devices.
Uninstalled SP# and it worked fine.
Whats going on?

There's been a lot of problems with sp3. I have it installed and luckily haven't had any problems. Would your laptop happen to have an AMD processor?

Windows installed the Service Pack 2 and asked if I wanted to restart my computer. I said yes. After the reboot, I tried to go on line and could not connect. I called Microsoft and they told me to make sure that all my drivers were up to date and that all spyware detection software was removed from my computer before reinstalling. I then called Dell, my computer manufacturer and spoke to tech support. They told me all my drivers were up to date and had me do a system restore. I did this and could then connect to the internet. Dell told me not to install the Service Pack 2 because a lot of people were having problems with it. I don't know why I could not connect after the installation.

Did anyone who installed Service Pack 2 remove your spyware detection before you installed the Service Pack 2 ? My friend did not and she hasn't had any problems . I just cannot understand why I cannot use this service pack. I know that I will eventually need to install it. can anyone help ?

hello after getting an error that my windows was not genuine and unable to resolved it with any post
I had decided to reinstall windows.
now I am unable to update to service pack 1 , i have tied mr fix it, running a scan,
I am not sure what the issue is now, before i had decided to do an clean install i was getting the error slui.exe bad image.

The hard drive is a healthy as i had did a scan
so i did a custom install , I am not sure if I should reformat my hard drive and start over from scratch,

i have an external hard drive that has all my files, so i am not worried about losing data,

IS it possible, that since, i did not unplug from the internet or disconnect the printer or external when i did the reinstall i would still have this problem.

I am using a home build,
msi p45 motherboard
nvida video card 8400
intel 8400 dual core cpu
4gb ddr 2 ram
windows utlimate 32 bit system
seagate 1tb Barracuda

I have also tried the standalone install for sp1 and get it has failed.
I am not sure if i should disconnect everything and reformat the hard drive and start over
or is there a better work around.

thanks

OK i just installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 but I want to know how to get rid of that little shield thats now in my taskbar and someone said
I uninstalled it cause it messed up my net (really slow) and made it so I couldnt download torrents. Also made it so people couldnt access the webserver/FTP server on my compClick to expand...

is this true?

EDIT: btw what is Adobe Gamma Loader and why is it in my startup (msconfig)?

A:just installed Windows XP Service Pack 2

The SP2 firewall needs more configuring to work with some applications i.e. port forwarding so it sounds like the person quoted just turned it off.
Do you have Photoshop or similar installed?
Adobe gamma is to allow the monitor view to be set to give true colour rendition of printer output. The control panel should contain a settings icon for it.

Virgin ar upgrading out internet to 60mb yay! for free yay!

However at the moment we are using the virgin router to get the internet into the house and then using a Belkin play for the wireless netwrok to get internet. the reason for this is that the Belkin router has a USB socket on it that we have a hard drive plugged into it with all our music on it so that we cna access our music from all the computers around the house.

This has worked fine fo rus for a while now.

However with Virgin upgrading the internet they are provinding some new superhub (theri words) wireless router for free and it makes sense to use it as I suspect it will be faster and able to cope with the 60mb internet speed. We would however like to still access out hard drive from all around the house.

So is it possible to get out internet from the virgin wireless router and access the hard drive through our Belkin router? So we need to access two wireless routers at the same time. Is this easy or horrible complicated? i will need to set up 5 computers to do this - 1 is running windows 7 basic,1 windows 7home premium, 1 windows 7professional, 2 running vista.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together
From a John Will Post

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no upli... Read more

To Whomever Tech Geniuses That Have a Few Moments:

PROBLEM:
I'm trying to set up my Belkin G Wireless Router* (Model:F5D7234-4 v3)* as a secure wireless home network. I have it plugged into my Touchstone Telephony Cabel Modem (Model: TM502G/CT). It is emitting a wireless signal which I can connect to, but, ONLY as an unsecured network. Once I connect to the network, it asks: "Type the PIN from the Router* to configure it. I have located the PIN entered it only to have it say that it "Could not configure the Router.*"

NOVICE SOLUTIONS:
I've verified the device PIN. I've rebooted the device and the cable modem. However, it will NOT allow me to configure the device so that I can secure the network.

HELP ME!?!?!?!?!
If someone could PLEASE help me get a secure network established I'd really appreciate not having Google doing any drive by peeks into my internet activity with their Google Earth vehicles.

THANK YOU FOR YOU TIME AND ATTENTION.

Have a great day!!

I don't see the point to that "pin" stuff, so I just disable anything in the router having to do with that. Then in the router's wireless section set the Encryption (or Security) Mode to WPA(2)-PSK and assign a strong passphrase (which mainly means don't use a dictionary word). Then when you try to connect a computer just enter the same passphrase.

I recently installed vista, do the service packs download through live update? Or do I have to go online to download it? Or does it come with the vista installation? I don't know what service pack, if any, is installed on this computer.

A:Just installed vista, service pack question

Hi xxsomethingxx,

I am assuming that you have installed a retail version of Vista. On the packaging, and also on the disk, does it mention 'With/Includes Service Pack 1'? You can also check by clicking on the start orb, typing 'winver' into the search box and pressing enter/return. This will bring up a dialogue box like this.

If yours mentions 'Service Pack 1', then you have already got it. If not, then you need to download and install it. I recommend that you use the standalone version. Download it from the link below and burn it to a DVD (the 64-bit version is too big for a CD). You can then install it on your system from this disk.

So basically I've had this problem before (last night actually) - so I did a system restore and everything was fine. Over the last 24 hours I downloaded all of the XP updates from MS and finally I got to the point where I downloaded SP2 - I did that, clicked the install button, and went out for the night. Upon returning I have 2 problems that are happening: 1. My taskbar is gone and any minimized programs just sit on the desktop as opposed to going to the taskbar. I've tried the ctrl+esc option to no avail and I've also read through about 20 different posts on this site, watched multiple youtube videos, and have come to the conclusion that I may have more problems than just the taskbar missing. 2. I have no sound.

This is the same issue I ran into months ago before I stopped using this pc - I just turned it on again for the first time in 4 or 5 months last night and instead of doing a fresh format of my system I just used system restore. I now assume that these problems are ingrained in my system and I'm asking you for help. I'd run programs but I've read so many READ THIS FIRST articles on here that I'm completely unsure of what to do. I know that it's important that I only run programs when told so I'm basically waiting for your advice before I even start anything.

Thank you for your time.
