Yoga 3 14 not turning on and no flickering light

Q: Yoga 3 14 not turning on and no flickering light

Hi, I am trying to turn on a Lenovo 3 14 after having left it unused for a while. When plugged in there is no flickering light or any response from the laptop. I have tried different plugs but still no response. Does anyone know what the problem might be and if there was any potential solution, or will it need to be taken in to be repaired? Many thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a ThinkPad Yoga (Type 20CD) that recently began experiencing a major issue. I was using as usual when it gave me the windows 10 blue screen and told me it was restarting. Upon restarting, it was only able to launch to the boot manager, and when I tried to start normally, it noted that my Hard Drive was not found. I figured it was a seating issue, as I've had those before with the cables for the trackpad, so I opened the bottom and reseated the drive. After doing so, the computer will not power back on. When I press the power button, the ThinkPad logo light comes on for around 3-4 seconds, but then dies. No other sound is made, the fans do not come on, and nothing is displayed on screen. I have tried several suggested fixes (holding the power button for 30 seconds while disconnected from AC power, pressing the emergency reset button, etc) but to no avail. Since this is my primary computer for work and school, I am really looking to get this fixed asap, so any solutions I can do myself would be appreciated.

My Lenovo Yoga is not turning on, no screen lights, key board lighting, or light next to power button is on. But when I plug it in the charging light turns on (see pictures). I have tried re-seating the ram, taking out the ac adapter and holding the power button for 30 seconds to a minute, and took out the battery pin and tried the same but to no avail. It still doesn't work. But, when I hold the power button with the battery plugged in, this fan on the back turns on for a few seconds. There isn't any CMOS battery that I could find, even on the other side of the motherboard. I also used two cables that work with another laptop, and still it wouldn't turn on. The One-Key button does not work either.Picture of Charging light on: Link to IMGPicture of inside: Link to IMGPlease do not ask me for the model number because I really do not know it. (the sticker on back has been ripped off.)

Is there an FRU number anywhere?  Maybe on the motherboard or even the battery?

Built computer from scratch about 6 years ago.. gigabyte motherboard, XP Professional.. no issues at all until two days ago. My daughter noticed that the "computer light" stays on after the computer has been powered off. (the light with the "light bulb" pic to show the computer is on)

It has flickered fast, slowed and stopped. Or just slowed down and keeps blinking. When the computer was powered off yet still plugged in the wall, I nudged the computer and the light started flickering...

A small type of power surge?
Something still running that should not be?
Something old and this is a sign of dying out?

Any suggestions? Thanks

My UPS lights all three of em keeps flickering when I turn it on and it gives a sound which always could be heard once when you turn it on or turn it off. The flickering started after a 15 mins blackout and when I came back to turn it on it became like this. The flickering is there and there is no power. My UPS version is IDEAL 5312A 1200VA

Today I was doing some electrical work and shut off the breaker to my office. After I was done I turned it back on the breaker and went to turn on my Dell and it wouldn't start. I'm not sure if it was on or off when I hit the breaker, but it was plugged into a surge protector thingy. I push the power button, and nothing happens, just this constant light on the front keeps flickering, like a light bulb when it doesn't have a good connection. Heres a picture.

I'm not sure whats up, I';ve had it unplugged for a few hours and still won't even try to start. Everything else plugged into the surge protector works fine (printer, desk lamp, pencil sharpener, etc) What could have happened?

Update: I've had it plugged in for a while now and the lights seem to be flashing in a patturn, pause 7 blinks than another pause. This light is green, not sure if it means anything.

I have an Acer Aspire - 5739G with a GeForce GT 240M

Yesterday, without any cause that I can figure out, my laptop shut down unexpectedly. On reboot, I noticed a faint, high pitched noise, and once at my desktop, I saw that the screen was flickering slightly. The flickering is very pronounced with a white background, but I hardly notice it if the screen is darker, during a movie or something. The flickering by itself isn't too bad, but it's hard to stare at a light webpage for more than a few minutes.

The noise is usually always on. It is faint enough that I can sort of ignore it, or with headphones it is completely blocked out, but its new and definitely there. If I let the computer idle for awhile, with the flickering still happening, it seems to go away, but then on any kind of activity, the noise starts up again.

Im about 1 month past the 1 year parts warranty from Newegg, but I'm panicking a bit because I leave on a month-long trip in 8 weeks, and absolutely need this laptop in top shape. I'm tech-savvy enough to build my PC, but I've never really opened up a laptop. I've left it off overnight, and also updated my video drivers.

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

(Old posts mentioned flickering, through the inverter, but it seemed like theirs was more pronounced, and didn't have the noise)

A:Laptop monitor, light flickering + noise

The noise could be an electrical arc, is it a sort of soft hissing ?

My guess would be the inverter is either on it's way out or a poor connection in the high voltage area is arcing. Either way I would turn it off or it could get worse.
The inverter turns a low voltage to a high one to power the backlight which lights up the screen, so the backlight itself could also be to blame.

It's possible to fit a new inverter yourself if you are good with your hands, you could probably get one on Ebay quite cheaply. The backlight could be harder to find and fit and they are said to be very fragile.

If you don't think you can fix this yourself try getting an estimate of the cost from a local repairer.

Hey guys,

I recently built a new system and bought a:

"Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power supply.

This power supply has a little LED light inside of it. Every once and a while it would randomly start flickering and making clicking noises upon each flicker. The clicking is fairly loud and the flicker fairly bright, no naturally I was concerned. I contacted Rosewill and they sent me a replacement. This new one hasn't been flickering or clicking until Today, about 2 weeks after I received it in the mail. Surely a second PSU would not have the exact same symptoms as the first PSU? I figured there must be something I am doing wrong. Has anyone had this problem in the past?

System Specifications:
Windows 7 Ultimate (x64)
AMD FX-8350 8-Core Processor
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Bios Version: 1708
16G Kingston DDR3 1600 Dual Channel Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 670

A:Rosewill PSU Led Light flickering + making clicking noises

There isn't anything you can be doing wrong. If it's connected properly, the PC will work (which appears to be the case).

In general, Rosewill hardware is mediocre at best. In any case, it sounds like it's failing. Time to get a replacement.

I have a Compaq Presario, Windows Vista Basic, around 3 gigs of RAM.

I recently rearranged my room, and when I went to go plug everything back in for my computer, the power supply light started to flicker when it was fine the day before.
I don't remember this ever happening before; it's still green, it just flickers rapidly and I can hear it.
I thought it was a temporary thing, but my power button is completely unresponsive and it will not turn on.

I have had my power supply replaced twice prior, and I fear I may have accidentally surged my power supply when I plugged it back in.
I would like to know if this is the only cause, I have tried different outlets, and even checked to make sure that I didn't mix up my power supply cable with my monitor or printer, but the results are the same.
Even when I unplug any power source, the light flickers and gradually dies, as compared to going out immediately.

The last time I replaced my power supply was around October of 2009, due a faulty fan.
The time before, was October 2007, when the power supply just shorted out.

This time I am completely confused since it was working the day prior, and wonder if my moving it would have caused something. It seems so unlikely, but due to my bad history with power supplies, I am prone to assume it is the same problem.
But if anyone has any other suggestions, please help.

Thank you for your time.

A:Solved: Power Supply light flickering, computer won't turn on

Since you moved the computer I would open the case and make sure all the powersupply connections to the mobo and peripherals are tight.

I have Lenovo Yoga 910. It's a couple years old. Suddenly I experienced lagging with the keyboard. Every button must be pushed at least a couple of seconds to appear or response. Some buttons are worst than the others. I called Lenovo and was advised to try to do hard reset by pressing down the power button for 45 seconds followed by pressing the Nuvo button but that didn't work. The problem was still happening. It's not windows upgrade related because this issue was also happening in BIOS when clicking on the arrow buttons and pgup/down buttons. I also tested it in Safe mode and it's still lagging. I even tried restoring the original windows version that came from Lenovo and still didn't work. After researching on the net, some were saying to unplug the battery cable and plug back in to solve the issue. So i did that, I unplug the battery cable but NOW....I have a different problem, worst than before.Pressing the power button doesn't do anything, the laptop doesn't start up. When i plugged in the charger, orange light next to it is blinking. According to Lenovo manual that this means the battery is under 20% but I left it charged overnight and it's still the same (orange light blinking). Also pressing the power button still doesn't do anything. But i noticed if i keep on pressing the power button, it will blink white lights every 20 seconds or so.The battery was in good condition because I did Lenovo diagnostic before I unplug the battery cable so I don't think this is batter... I had a PC that did a lot of this. That had a loose fit @ the 20/24 pin connection on the board. If is old, or had any electrical accidents, the board may be going out.Check that plug in on your board. Wiggle the wires back and forth and retry your startup. Do this a few times. You may renew all the connections there and get it to work.

While using Skype video chat a few days ago, a message came up saying that another application was using my webcam and my outbound video was turned off automatically. I had to click the button to re-enable the video stream.
Then today I noticed my webcam light on at a time when I was not using it. It turned off on its own later without me doing anything.
I suspect some kind of remote webcam access.

I've also been experiencing some odd behavior in recognition of my keystrokes. I can type normally in every application but when playing Starcraft II and hitting hotkeys rapidly (b,b or b,s) the keystrokes are often not registering properly. I would normally suspect my keyboard but given that the problem only occurs when I'm running the most demanding application and that the webcam issue popped up at the same time, I'm wondering if a keylogger might be the culprit.

Hello, I am having a very, very frustrating issue with my internet- its at the point now where I am typing this hurriedly so I can post it before the internet "Crashes" as I now refer to it. The problem is that the internet light on my centurylink modem is constantly turning off, and wont turn back on until I reset it for a couple of minutes, then it'll be fine for an hour or less until I have to repeat this. I've also noted that sometimes every light is on, and I cannot connect due to a "limited access" symbol on my computer. Any help would be amazing, thank you.

A note- It was working fine until about a month ago.

Check your router for any firmware updates. Then do a factory reset on the modem/router. If either of those don't work then a phone call to your ISP - Centurylink will be needed.

The problem is that with the PC off we can't see where the dust, hair, and fingerprints are. We clean all of our other screens while they're on so the cleaning doesn't cause a problem, it's the touching. Can we turn off the driver so the screen doesn't respond to touch? Thanks.

My mouse light is still on after I turned off my computer? Previously it was not like this. How can i turn it off after my computer is shut down?

A:Mouse got light even before turning on power.

(I assume your mouse is connected via a wired USB connection to your desktop PC?)

Does your power supply have a on/off switch on the back of your computer.

If so, this is normal and is nothing to worry about really but you can turn that switch off if you wish, just remember to switch it back on before turning your PC on.

This happens because some USB ports allow power to continue going through to them which is very handy if you charge a mobile or MP3 device using the PC, this way it can carry on charging those devices whilst the PC is off.

If you unplug you mouse after the pc has shut off and then plug it back in again, in some cases it should'nt turn back on till you turn the PC back on but if it does turn back on then again, like i said, don't worry.

Hope this helps to explain your query.

Trying to use my HP scanjet 5590 as a x-ray duplication device. Followed this link ( http://www.cromwell-intl.com/3d/xray/scanner.html ) and with help have a light box. That part works great. The problem is when I disconnect the light source in the scanner I get an error code 23 and the scanner will not work. HP states the scanner light bulb must be connected to work. Any suggestions??? The only one I have come up with is to paint the bulb black. Someone (the boss) suggested black electrical tape I'm afraid the heat generated will cause a new problem.
Thanks for the help!
Suzy

A:Turning off Light Source to scanner?

The electronics may not allow you to use it without the bulb working since that is crucial to a normal scan, of course.

I agree with you about the black paint. It will no doubt fume and possibly ignite, anyway, unless you use some sort of stove-black.

Any way you can use foil? That would block the light but also dissipate heat better. You'd have to be careful of any electrical connections, of course.

You also need to be careful about fingerprints or any foreign material at all touching the bulb. Even that tiny amount of variation in heat distribution through the bulb can cause it to burst or crack. If you use foil, make sure it touches the bulb as uniformly as possible, and use eye protection when you turn it on, always, if you test it out of the case.

I have an HP ProBook 455 G1 that won't start / boot. All of a sudden, the light next to the power cable was blinking white.  The laptop wouldn't turn on - no lights, no display, no fan activity.   I have tried the recommended hard reset solution already where everything is disconnected, including the battery, and the power button is held for 40 seconds.  This solution does not solve the problem I'm experiencing with this laptop. I've been troubleshooting it for a few days have had no luck. Through reading fourms, some people had similar issue and solved it by disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard. I have tried this and still no luck. I have changed out the following; Memory, Harddrive, Charger, Battery.  Still no luck. If you know anything that I could try or anything that would help, please let me know. Many thanks

I'm ready to return this netbook, because this is creepy. I used the wipe/fresh install of Windows 10, with the no files saved option and now I can't stop the camera from going off every time I start or shut down this netbook. I think that this may have been happening before the anniversary "update." A MS tech installed the driver from this HP site (I've done that, too but it doesn't change anything) and it worked temporarily, but now it does this even after I got frustrated and did another install of Windows, in case this is spyware.  If I can't stop it I'm sending this computer back very soon.

I have a computer that was built at computer builders warehouse and it has worked fine for 3-4 years now. The other day my computer wouldnt connect to the internet, I called my Isp and figured out it wasnt on their end. The next day my pc would not boot up, I pushed the power button and on the front a blue light would flash really slowly. The fans would kick on for a second and then nothing, just the light. I figured it was a powersupply issue so I purchased a new one of the same specs and replaced it. After re-installing the new power supply the same issue. Fans kick on for a second and then the slow flashing blue light on front of pc. I took everything off motherboard and took out ram, still no luck. I also looked around motherboard and have not seen any bulging or bad capacitors. So I am wondering is it the motherboard at fault here or is it possible I recieved a defective new powersupply?? I would like to upgrade motherboard/cpu anyhow, but not sure of steps involved anyhow. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having this annoying problem for the last month or so. Randomly, all the white areas of windows (such as the area where this text is appearing) turns to light blue stripes. And it goes away and comes back on as it pleases. At first the problem was not frequent, but it's getting worse by the day. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the software or hardware. I'm using XP service pack 3. I'm using avast antivirus (updated) and two anti spywares and got all the latest xp security updates. My graphics card is Nvidia 8500gt, the driver for that is also up to date. can anyone help me out?

Try reseating the monitor cable, if that doesn't work, switch out the monitor with a known good one--a computer that doesn't have this issue. If that doesn't work try reseating the video card itself.

What I think is happening is the pins to your cable are losing contact with the inside of the video cards inputs. Had a similar problem for like 6 months when I was 12. Turns out the video cable was chewed up. Got another monitor--cable was built in--worked fine.
