Q: T460 integrated camera stopped working

Thinkpad T460 and the integrated camera used to work but has stopped.Skype (where I used it most) gives message of "Skype could not find a webcam".Device Manager does not list the camera device. Is there a driver to re-install?The camera is integrated in the laptop - not sure how to tell if it is still connected physically. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

My warranty has no run out so dell can't actually help me. I wondered if anyone had a similar problem and what they did? Whenever I try to use the camera the blue light comes on as if to say that it is working but the picture is just black. When I click to take a picture regardless a box pops up that says "Unable to capture a photo. Please reconnect your camera and try again". But if the camera is integrated how can disconnect it? Have tried reinstalling drivers and even the webcam manager itself but it has not helped. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you. x

I have a Lenovo Flex 2. When I try to go on Skype for a video call, the integrated webcam doesn't work. I thought it was a driver problem at first, but I tried installing the following driver and it didn't work:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds031749

If anyone has any possible solutions to this problem, that would be much appreciated.

Accoding to Lenovo you should be installing this one which is for Windows 10. Here is the one for 8/8.1

The links show two drivers. Pick the one that is correct for your CPU.

Hello, I've been having a problem with Windows 10 no longer detecting the integrated camera in an E545. This problem began several months ago, after one of the major windows 10 updates. I didn't notice it at first since I rarely used the camera, but it's always bothered me that it no longer functions or is detected. At first I tried installing the Windows 7, and later, the Windows 8 driver but all I got was the following message box: Realtek Bluetooth suite can't run on WindowsThis app may decrease PC security or performance. Check for an updated app that runs on this version of Windows. I was hoping that the new anniversary update would fix this problem (since that last one caused it) but it hasn't. The laptop has never been dropped so I doubt the problem is due to a loose wire or something along those lines. I've also tried a total Windows refresh and that didn't help either. Any help would be much appreciated - thanks!

Hi, I got a ThinkPad E460 running Windows10 Pro.  The integrated camera was working before but when I tried to use Skype for the first time in a few months this morning, video didn't show.  Then I ran the Camera app in Win10 and it gave me the error code 0xA00F4271(0x80070005) even though it was shown as "working" in Device Manager.  The camera still doesn't work after deleting it in Device Manager and letting Win10 reinstall by itself, updating the camera driver, checking the privacy settings, etc.  I don't know if this is related or not, but the integrated mic was missing in Device Manager before I found out that the camera was not working.  I updated the audio driver and the mic started working again. Is there anything else that I can do to fix the camera?  Thanks in advance!

Some AV Security software, such as Kapersky AV, will sometimes block the camera access, so check to see if yours has such a feature. Other thing to try is to completely remove the existing camera driver to see if it has become corrupted.   In windows, just uninstalling and reinstalling will not install a clean copy, unless you make sure to check the box during the uninstall to "Delete the driver software for this device".    If left unchecked, it will just reuse the existing driver, and if already the latest version, attempts to reinstall the same driver again will not always replace all files since they already exist. Also make sure to install all of the latest Chipset drivers, or better yet, run the Lenovo's ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU) and update all of the drivers to the latest version.      Sometimes it seems to find updates that fix issues that manually updating misses.. I would hold of on any BIOS updates except as a last resort, however, since they sometimes go bad, and when they do, they go really bad and can leave your system bricked.. ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU)https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht080136 Good Luck,

Hi. I can't get the webcam to work. I got this laptop around mid June of this year. Tried to use the webcam for the first time today, Nothing. My device manager doesn't even list a camera. I tried to intall the driver (twice) to see if that would help, but as far as I can see, it's had exactly 0 effect. I downloaded the lenovo settings app, and it's not there, either. At least, I see no setting options for it. But this model of laptop supposedly has a webcam built in, and my model looks pretty much exactly like the others I see on google images, except for a circly light thing in the strip where the camera is supposed to be. I have no idea what the hardware/wiring should even look like so I can't help there. I've been at this for hours. At this point I would just buy a webcam off Amazon or something if I could be sure that the laptop would actually register it.

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion dv6646us notebook with integrated webcam. My computer came installed with Vista Home 32 bit. I have made no changes to the OS. My webcam used to work just fine. I don't use the cam much, but I do on occasion. I know it was working 2 weeks ago (not sure about last week). I took my computer on a trip and when I returned, the computer wasn't working at all. I did the static charge flush 3 times before my harddrive would spin up and get me into windows. Then everything seemed to be working. I don't know if the cam was functioning or not. I've tried to get the cam working now, but it isn't finding the device at all. I've been in the device manager and gone to action "scan for hardware changes". My computer just does not recognize my cam any more. I've downloaded drivers from the HP website and reinstalled them (it even asked me if I did because it found those drivers previously installed). Sometimes I get the message saying they might not have been installed properly. Sometimes I don't get the message. What else can I do? Please help. Thanks

Hi,
I own a Dell XPS 15 L502x system with Windows 10. I've been using the system for about a month and a half now without any issues with my Quantas integrated webcam. Today when I was on skype, the cam crashed and it wouldn't work then on.
So far these are all the things I have tried:

I restarted the PC.
Uninstalled Dell Webcam Central, restarted and then re-installed it.
Uninstalled the Imaging Device from Device Manager and Windows 10 didn't detect it on restart.
Manually tried installing the Quantas Driver, it was installed in compatibility mode and still the imaging device is not showing up in the Device Manager.
My PC Doctor Dell Diagnostics show no problem at all. All tests are passed.
Tried restoring the PC to a previous point, still no luck.
As a last resort, used the hardware troubleshooter it didn't find any issues.
Also tried to add a device manually in Device Manager, but it didn't work too. Also tried add legacy hardware, still not fixed.

My whole business depends on Skype calls and this is a big blow to me right now.
I updated Windows 10 only after the Microsoft tool showed me that my PC is ready and suited for Windows 10 upgrade. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

It used to work just fine, then one day a long time ago I noticed that it would always come up with an error about how it couldn't burn the cd successfully. Any tips is appreciated on this. Thanx.

Hello,
I have a problem with SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio on my HP - nc6220 laptop, WinXP professional sp2.

SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio just stopped working, I tried reinstalling it but it always says that there was a problem during installation and it might not work properly.

In Control Panel>Sounds and Audio devices it's all grayed out so I cannot do anything there.
In device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark, I tried disable-enable but it does not help.
I also tried updating the driver, re-enabling windows audio in services, even reinstalled Windows and installing sp3.

Also I tried an USB sound card and it is working well.

Is there anything else I could do, or maybe SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio is just broken and cannot be fixed?

I have read/searched through most of the posts on this and various other sites and can't seem to find help with my problem. So hopefully someone will be able to help.

This morning when I woke up my computer worked properly. I then went to work, and when I turned it on I got the "blue screen of death." (I apologize for not posting the exact wording, but I did not think I would need it). I restarted the computer per the instructions, and it booted up. The computer, however, failed to connect to the wireless network. I noticed that the network icon was not in the taskbar. I then went to device manager and my integrated wireless adapter (Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG) had a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. I clicked on properties and under the 'general' tab the device status read:

This device cannot start (Code 10)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device

I then unistalled the controller and attempted to reinstall via the 'add hardware' program. I then received the message:

A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your device may not function properly

I then, believing it was a driver issue, downloaded the latest drivers from the intel website for my device on another computer. I uninstalled the controller again, and tried to install with the new drivers via a thumb drive. I received the same error message and the controller had the yellow triangle. When I clicked on properties this time I received the fol... Read more

A:Integrated Wireless Controller/PC Card Adapter/Ethernet port stopped working

Sounds like your motherboard is rapidly dying.

If the ethernet controller (or adapter) does not show under Network Adapters and is not in Other or Unknown devices with a warning or error message check in the BIOS (Setup) to see if it somehow got disabled. If it is already enabled, or doesn't show there, see my first paragraph.

When the ethernet controller is defective it can prevent other integrated and/or PCMCIA networking cards from working. When this happens sometimes a USB adapter will work.

I won a Sony Cybershot DSC-S45 at my project graduation [which was May 25, 2006 so I haven't had it too long]. Since I won it there...I don't have ANY receipts. Only the box it came in. That's why my problem is kinda stinky =[

It works perfectly fine until the other day I went to take a picture and noticed, no flash.
I put it on forced flash and NO flash. Every mode-No flash. I took out the batteries for a minute and tried doing what the Sony Support website said [to reset the settings] but still no flash.
I don't know where the camera was bought.
I don't know what to do as in do I need to contact Sony for my warranty info?
I did this sign up thing and put in the date I got it and said I was still under warranty but I would have to provide the receipt [which I obviously can NOT get a hold of]
And without my warranty it would cost $110 to "fix the problem" which isn't even worth it...Id' rather just buy a new one.

It's a nice camera and I really like it and I would love to fix it myself or go somewhere that could possibly fix it.

Any advice?
Thank you!

Hi all, sorry in advanced but I will try and give as much details as possible.

I brought an ebay special enderscope usb camera which worked great for 4 days.

on the 5th day it stopped.

What generally happens is I plug it in, the led's light up, windows says unknown device and that is it.

If i take it out and try a different port then it does not even show up.

When it did work it came up as generic usb 2.0 camera

I can not find this driver file anywhere on the interenet so I can just point to it on device manager.

I am getting - Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I installed all updates, no go, did a roll back to a week before, no go, re-installed all updates - still no go

After looking around I've some info that may or may not help.

Hardware ID - USB/UNKOWN
Base cont. ID - {02713ff7-fae4-11e2-a80d-e89a8fc67103}
Cont. ID - {02713ff7-fae4-11e2-a80d-e89a8fc67103}

Driver version - 6.1.7601.17586

I did try it in a windows 8 machine but nothing happened.

Basic 1st question really is, is the camera dead?

IF not, what can I do?

Thanks anyone in advanced, I'll not be around again until this time tomorrow so please bare with for replies.

Thanks again

Hello, I have a new T530 with Windows 8 OS. I am having trouble using the integrated camera. It functions neither in the Windows camera app nor in Skype. In both cases I get a picture with a gray background and a camera with a line through it. In Device manager, the camera does appear, is enabled, and the drivers are up to date. After looking through other threads, I tried checking whether the camera was plugged in and indeed it was. When using Skype and I set the camera to on (Skype did detect the camera), I still got the gray no camera image, but the green light on the camera itself turned on.I also tried using Fn+F6 to check settings. Lenovo settings opens, but the when I click the camera settings Icon, the screen loads a blank page that says "Camera" in the top right and has a back button (left pointing arrow) in the top left hand corner. The back button does not seem to work and I must change the window to something else in order to exit/close settings.I tried manually installing both camera drivers and "power management" ("energy management"?) drivers. Neither of this solved either of these issues. Please help me to resolve this problem. Thank you.

Hi, euterpenc

I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date in the system. The current BIOS for your system is 2.07 and can be found here. Also, I would ensure that the chipset drivers are up to date, and those can be found here.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes

hello all,

i'm new to the forum and thanks for taking the time to read this. i checked back through several forums and did not see this addressed so i'm hoping someone can help.

i've got very new dell laptop running windows XP home. two days ago the microsoft scanner and camera wizard flat out stopped working. havent a clue why. i didnt change any settings on my camera, the laptop or anything else. i did what i always do... snapped some pix, plugged in via usb and waited for the camera wizard to pull my images down.

all it does now is give me the dialog box saying "Reading device for information" and there it stays, frozen. i have to use the task manager to get it to stop and even then, once i unplug the camea (Nikon Coolpix 2100) even the camera won't shut off. i have to take out the batteries to shut the camera down.

i know it's not the camera because i have the exact same setup at work (only i run xp professional at work) and i have no problems at all transferring pix from my camera.

i tried installing the nikon software that came with the camera to see if i could use that instead of the wizard but that won't autostart either and i prefer the wizard any way.

Hello, 1. I have upgraded my OS from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Since then my Camera and Microphone Stopped working.2. Also, does my model ( HP Envy dv7-7323cl ) has Drivers support from HP for windows 10? Because when I looking for Drivers on Hp website and selecting my laptop model its gives only two options to download drivers for Windows 8 and 8.1. I don't know if going back windows 7 is a good idea? Thank You,Mazhar

Hi,
I don't mean to intrude on someone else's Post but I have the same problem.
This is real bull.
When will Microsoft fix the WindowsApps problem?
I delayed the upgrade from Win 8.1 until the last minute so that the bugs could be fixed.
I have the problem that many seem to have.
WindowsApps, Store, Calculator, Camera etc have stopped working.
I have tried all sort of fixes that I read about.
Reset cache, change ownership of folder, changed security settings for permissions, windows fix and all.
I don't want to do a Reset because of the dozen or more Apps I will need to reinstall including Thunderbird, and you know how that will go, because it will take days.
I have not setup a new User account as I think I may have a problem moving all the files and again, reinstall all the apps.
I might try a repair install and try to keep everything.
Problem with that is when you first launch Setup, it warns that you will not be able to return to Windows 8. It's only been two weeks and I don't want to loose that option yet.

I do not know which Update caused the problem but it started about ten days ago.
Will Microsoft be doing a fix for this?
So many PCs have been affected.

If I restore 8.1, will I be able to do the upgrade again and keep all my stuff?

Also, does anyone know if turning off some of the Privacy options etc can cause this problem.

Thanks
Joe

Have you got a system restore point from before the apps stopped working? You could try that. If no good on that front then it is worth just setting up a new 'dummy' administrator user account just to test and see if the apps in question work on that. If they do it's worth deleting your user account and re-creating. I know it's a total pain but if you select to keep files when deleting your corrupted current user account you can then move all your documents etc into the new user account. Apps from windows store can easily be re downloaded on the new account and any traditional software will still be installed and available to your new account.

i have never done a repair install but I have heard it does wonders and should get you back in business with everything intact. I don't really know much of whether you can get back to 8.1 but would you really want to. I admit Windows 10 is an unpredictable minefield, there is a lot of problems and the native apps are causing much grief. But Windows 10, there is little getting away from it - in time a lot of software will be Windows 10 only I'm sure as the aggressive MS campaign wins out. Might as well try and embrace it.

if you get everything back working again take regular system restore points and use either Windows in built image or macrium reflect to take system images from time to time. A system image can return you to a functional machine in a matter of hours

Hi, I have the same problem of the question bellow, like I have looked around and I was not able to find the answer I need.
I have a Satellite T130 and, suddenly, the inbuilt web camera has stopped working properly. A blue light is on, but there is no image. What can I do?
Thank you

A:Satellite T130: inbuilt web camera has stopped working

Hi mate

I have the same issue sometimes using my U400.
This happens if the room is to dark for the camera.
If something like this happens to you I recommend holding the finger in front of the webcam lens for a short time.
After that the webcam picture should come back again? in my case this worked.

My U920 has been goten worst every day, first it was the thouchscreen, then the cameras and finnally today the screen has stoped working.

The ribon attachment has problems, don't know if I'm the only one or if is a design problem, but the main problemhas been the total lack of support from Toshiba.

Amazing how bad can costumer service be....

A:Satellite U920T - display, touchscreen and camera has stopped working

I don?t understand why you are not satisfied with the consumer service but fact is that in case of hardware problems, you should always contact the local Toshiba authorized service provider which is available in your country.

How to now if it?s really an hardware problem or maybe just an software issue (corrupt system)?
There is a very simple method and workaround:
In most cases if you recover the notebook back to the factory settings, the software issues should be fixed the notebook should work properly.

In case the recovery does not solve the notebook problems, the notebook?s hardware might be affected. In such case (as already mentioned above) you will need additional help from notebook engineer.

New laptop.  Came with Win 10 Home.  Everything worked.  Upgraded the OS to Win 10 Pro.  Now Intel Realsense f200 camera no longer works.  Camera still shows up and says working properly in device manager.  All drivers upgraded to latest.  Still no go on the camera. Ideas?  Suggestions?  Don't want to roll back the OS. Thanks.

After installing Skype, the sound, microphone and built in camera stopped working on my Dell Vostro 1400. (Vista Business SP1). Skype itself also doesn't run. I reinstalled Skype and got the same. How could I fix this problem?

A:Sound, microphone and camera stopped working after downloading Skype

umm....i had kinda the same prob with something else and no sound would work
...try right clicking volume mixer in the bottom right task bar...were u can controll the main volume...right click and select recording devices...then it will open up a window... click on the tab 'recording' and if there is only a microphone symbol there...right click in that box and press the 'show disabled disabled devices' and if u see 'cd audio' and 'stereo mix' that means there disabled..lol so right click on them and enable...and then sumthing like that should work...well it worked for me...so all the best....
