PB EasyNote - No Sign of Life!!!

Q: PB EasyNote - No Sign of Life!!!

My PackBell Easynote E2 has had enough of my 13yr old daughters MSN , pics AND MUSIC from her phone and has given up on me!!

When I turn it on I get the PB screen then instead of loading Windows I get a menu for starting the system; either in XP Home Edition or Windows Recovery Console, if I do nothing it tries to load in XP and then all I get is a black screen with a black and white bar at the bottom! I can't even start in safe mode and none of the lights (where the CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK buttons are) are doing anything. IS MY BABY DEAD????

Tried to load in Recovery Console mode and then realised I didn't know the Administrator password. Did press F2 and got into Admin password bit and it asked me for new password but where it said old password looked very dim (a bit like me LOL) LIKE THERE WASN'T AN OLD PASSWORD!?!.

Can anyone tell me what has happened and also, even better; how to fix it.

Preferred Solution: PB EasyNote - No Sign of Life!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: PB EasyNote - No Sign of Life!!!

Have you just tried hitting enter when it asks you for the admin password?

Generally unless you've set one on a home PC, then there isn't one set.

If you can get in to rc like that, select the c:\windows option and when it prompts you 'c:\windows>' type chkdsk /p /r

Once its complete type exit and reboot. If that doesn't fix it post back.

not really sure where this goes, but i figured this would be the best place out of all the others

so last night (or rather this morning at 12.08am) i set my fujitsu t580 to sleep before i went to sleep myself.

this morning, i woke up to find that its power lights weren't on despite being plugged in to a charger (which is confirmed to be connected to a working power supply as the router connected to the same extension cable is still working) and it did not respond at all to me flicking the power switch

i've tried the ol' method of getting rid of residual static (disconnect all power sources, hold power button for a minute); doesn't work. my finger was on that switch the entire time my phone was loading the "new thread" page which is no small duration

i'm quite sure it's not the power supply; my battery still had a pretty fresh lifespan of 2hours (at least for a 2.5 year old battery) last i checked a month ago and i doubt that could've depleted overnight while the comp was asleep. can't test the charger though because stupid fujitsu made a charger with a plug that doesn't fit any of the other non fujitsu laptops around the house

a little background info of my lappy: got it about april 2011, been showing signs of some fan trouble since about june last year but i only bothered to clean the fan in sept this year after fan errors started popping up. since then, comp has shown no signs of trouble other than general signs of... I recently bought a pretty old used Laptop (specifically, an ancient Toshiba Tecra 720CDT).
It didn't come with it's own DC adapter, so I ended up connecting wires from a stripped adapter onto the jack.
The only sign of life I got here was having the battery LED turn on (yellowish colour), only to turn off again a second later.
This only actually happened when I held down the on button.

I figured that it was simply trying to charge, but the wires couldn't be connected to the laptop long enough, so I took the thing apart and replaced the jack on the PSU to fit one of my many standard sized adapters.
Turning it on, I got the exact same thing.
The seller's telling me that it worked fine before he sent it to me.

Hey everyone,

My laptop (i'm not sure the make or model matters) suddenly died, it was working fine one minute, left the room for around 30 seconds, came back and has seemingly has no power. The machine has been running purely off the power adapter because there is no battery. There's no lights on, indicating an electrical connection; it's completely dead. I used a phase tester to confirm a good power adapter, so the problem seems to be with the computer. I don't think the electrical input socket (?) is at fault cos it's not loose.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe it has something to do with that internal coin-shaped battery?

I'd really appreciate any help because i'm completely at a loss as to what i should do next...

Could be a dry joint on power connector, underside motherboard try wiggling to see if you get some response, coin battery is only to retain CMOS information.

You have recently removed one or more virusus from this computer, but now a new one has appeared.

First, AOL is extremely slow to start when I click on the icon. Once I've signed on, after a time a new sign-on screen appears on top of what I'm doing. I cancel that one. Soon I see activity at the bottom of the screen (where ordinarily you see "Done" or "//http:/..." etc. The virus is doing its own AOL activity! Soon afterward AOL is canceled, as if I had canceled it.

Also, Microsoft XP suddenly announces they are having to increase my virtual memory. Paging size is currently at 384 Mb, and my RAM is 1.25 GB. This is happening more and more frequently.

I have again changed my AOL sign-on password, and I no longer permit it to use the password automatically (I have to enter it at each sign on).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

To all owners of X1 Carbon 2017 (5th gen).I read all of those reviews where people are impressed by 10+ hours of battery life (15,5h advertised), but I can't really figure out how....!? First time I tested was a normal working day - Firefox (a lot of Flash it must be said), Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat. Nothing really heavy, no peripherals except Bluetooth mouse. Brightness dimmed 1 level below the ideal. It lasted for about 4 hours! I windows's list of apps affecting battery life, Firefox was on 1st place with 32-35% Second attempt - same set of tasks, however less Firefox (no flash) - 7 hours. Now in the middle of a 3rd attempt (using Opera this time) - battery time remaining indication goes over 10h only when I completely stop using the laptop Not many apps running in the background either (Dropbox, Skype...) So my question - do you guys get more than 10h of battery life and HOW? Do you enable "Battery Stretch"? How actively do you use it and for what?

After having done the update, I'm having two issues that are bugging me:

1. I cannot change the lock screen from the "cave by the shore" default nor bypass it (Brink is working on the bypass issue I believe)

2. If I go into netplwiz and uncheck the need for a password, the "Welcome" screen has the system default user picture, that drawing of a circle over an arch, not the picture I assigned to the account. With the need for a password, the picture on both the sign-in screen and "Welcome" screen is correct tho.

The lock screen issue I can live with since I normally don't use a password, but the default user picture is bugging me. I went into %ProgramData%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures and replaced all the default pictures with ones the same name and size of the picture that I have for the account, but it still shows the default.

I've searched around for another place where the default picture is, but cannot find any, even with the search including hidden system files.

Anybody know where the system default user pictures are stored, other than in the User Account Pictures?

Q1) I've added OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to be able to disable the lock screen again, but it doesn't do so at startup.

Q2) I'm not aware of way to stop this yet when you have netplwiz set to automatically sign in to an account at startup. The blue note box at the top of the tutorial below will show you the default locations for account pictures to help.

Laptop as per heading Packard Bell EasyNote H5315
After re-installing xp home and download & install all updates i decided to purchase a new battery & charger due to the old charger seeing better days & laptop would not run on battery power.
I have charged up the new battery and then switched on the laptop and started to work.
The battery was down to 7% within one hour.
I switched off the laptop and charged it up once again.
Once charged i ran the laptop on the batteries of which was down to 7% again within the hour.
Charging up the battery takes around 3 hours.
I have now just started to charge up the battery once again.

Any help would be nice to confirm new battery is faulty or am i supposed to just leave it on charge for say 24 hours ?

So I just reinstalled Windows 10 on my machine.

Before I had it set up so that I could log in with a password or fingerprint.

Now it seems my only options are (1) password only OR (2) password, PIN or fingerprint.

I don't want PIN as a sign in option. But I have to enable PIN via "Windows Hello" before enabling Fingerprint sign in.

And once I have fingerprint sign in enabled, if I remove the PIN I lose both PIN and fingerprint sign in options.

Any ideas how I can set up password and fingerprint as my only two sign in options?

Hey everyone

Every now and then my Windows 8.1 x64 shows the first sign-in sequence after a restart. I noticed it most recently happened after a normal Start->Power Options->Restart. I'm quite sure it has also happened after right clicking on start button (Control-X) and restarting from there, as well as from a custom shortcut I have for restart (shutdown.exe /r /t 00).

I had just finished installing IBM SPSS 22 for a class I'm taking, but I think this is unrelated.
It goes through the whole "Setting Up Your PC" and "Installing your apps" screens even though its perfectly fine and and all my data including app data is still there. See the attached file for an example of what was most noticeably shown.

With another incident, something similar to this happened but it actually reset some of my settings for things like MediaMonkey, Connectify Hotspot, GOM Player and VLC player. It was like they had been started for the first time ever with no license information or preferences like Always on Top.

Its not a matter of urgency but I keep worrying that one day it will actually mess with my system in a very annoying way.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I have been handed a Packard Bell Easynote F5 Laptop which, when switched on (while being powered by mains electricity) the screen is very dark. The icons can only just be seen. I have connected it to an external monitor on which the display is then perfect. I have read as much as I can on the problem and it appears that it could be the ccfl tube inside the screen.

Anyone know how I can check that it really is this that is causing the problem. I would hate to tell the owner that it`s going to cost him big bucks if this is`nt really the problem.

That's the most likely cause of the symptoms you describe. Not cheap to fix either. I've seen a few how-tos on the web. I think you need a soldering iron and someone who knows how to use one. Otherwise, $450.

Hi all!

Sorry if this is a stupid question - but hey ho!

I have an easynote ts11 hr. It didn't come with bluetooth apparently. I bought a simple USB plug in which is now registering on my system as "CSR Bluetooth chip" and elsewhere says "bluetooth radio".

I bought a new bluetooth speaker (Azatom Storm). My mobile phone works well with the speaker so the speaker is functioning properly. My computer can't seem to find it.

When I go to "manage devices" and "add a device" it doesn't see the Azatom.

I contacted Packard Bell support. They told me to download a bluetooth driver and sent a link which I duly did. No joy.

What can I try next please? I'm trying to stop the cat garrotting herself on my speaker wires when "we" are watching stuff on the computer (!) so it seems important to me! Plus it's a big outlay financially if I can only get it to do half the job I bought it for!

Thanks for any help.

Good Night,

I recently install windows 7 in my laptop, however i notice a increase of cpu activity, always in 50%, and no aplications running.
I run Process Explorer and i see this thread ACPI.SYS with 30%/40% of cpu ocupation.
I have done some research and i found that was something to do with the power management...I can have any option in Bios menu to change power settings, and i also upgrade the bio to the version of the oficial site of Packard Bell, but i run BiosagentPlus and he says that i need a Upgrade, but it costs $30...
After 2 days of researching i can't find a solution, please help....

A:Windows 7 and Easynote SB85-P-002

That "CPU busy doing nothing in particular" symptom is frequently caused by BIOS-level problems.

I'm not entirely clear on who or what "BiosagentPlus" is, nor why they'd want to charge you for a BIOS update, but it is very important that you update to the latest BIOS supplied by the manufacturer.

Does the same symptom happen in safe mode?

Hello guys.

This old Packard Bell is giving me a lot of trouble (it came with WinXP). When trying to install w10 from dvd installation it gets stuck at blue logo. Nothing happens; no spinning dots... even if left for a long time.

I managed to install w10 running w8.1 installation, pressing SHIFT-F10 and running w10 installation from there.

Anyway after the first reboot it will get stuck again at blue logo.

Any ideas? I have read somewhere that you can bypass this issues on some laptops by physically removing the wifi card. Alas, I don't have the technical expertise to pry open a laptop and I don't know if this is the same issue either (those ones affected where Samsung ones).

Anyway I have ran out of ideas and I am not very fond of reinstalling ancient XP. Besides, what irritates me is that I have succesfully installed w10 on even older hardware.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

An install screen pops up.

I hope you'll help with my problem at my laptop...I'll do recovery factory setting at my laptop coz it was very very slow and when it finish its doesn't start up just on and off..I suspect it was in my hard drive or it was because the software doesnt load to my hardware...please help me solving my problem...thanks in advance!!!

A:My Packard Bell EasyNote won't start

There are other possible causes but start by running the hard drive diagnostics from the manufaturer.

Identify the make of your hard drive and then use one of the links below to get the manufacturers diagnostic for ISO CD. Burn the image file

to a CD, boot the PC with the disc in the drive and run the diagnostics. You first need to set the CD drive to 1st in the boot order in the

Bios setup.

If you do not have an image burner use this free software to make the CD.

Please provide the model number of your drive if it is Toshiba Fujitsu for further instructions, this does not run on Windows 7. I would

suggest the use of the diagnostics from the Seagate link as this will work on all makes of drive and on any OS.Click to expand...

Hi I have a Packard bell easynote R1938, which the motherboard died I bought one from ebay and stripped down the laptop to install the new board.

It all went well Laptop back in a running state apart from the WIFI, the card is back in its original place and being detected by WIN XP. The problem is that the card status is 'WIFI is turned off use hardware switch to turn back on', now I know the hardware switch is tied into the keyboard under FN + F1 but it does not control the WIFI.

I am wondering if there is any other way of turning on the WIFI?? or if the problem is one of drivers needed for the hardware switch as I do know there is an unknown item in the device manager but I couldn't find any drivers for the unknown.

Any ideas??

post back a device manager and xirrus screen shot
{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

Direct link to the program is here http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifi_download_redirect.php
Then run and install the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

I apologize for my bad English and thank in advance. Advise me, please. My basic data are Laptop Packard Bell Easynote ENTG71BM, OS Windows 8.1 SL (64-bit).Description of the problem:I can use the F1-F12 keys only while pressing on the Fn key. That is inconvenient. I did not find the Function key behavior point in my UEFI, so could not re-configure the F keys there. But I have read somewhere in the Internet that one can change the behavior of the F keys using the Launch Manager application. My machine came with the application installed (v.8.00.8108), yet there is no that APP in Start Menu so I am not able to launch it and manage those keys. Tech support said it was necessary to reestablish OS Windows for this purpose, still I am not sure it would help.Questions:How could I configutate F1-F12 keys in such way that to use them without pressing on the Fn key? Should I use Launch Manager for it or do it in another way?Igor Smetanin.
