I have the 2N3904 transistor, that used as thermal sensor.Genuine-Lenovo-ThinkCentre-M91P-M73-Temperature-Sensor-Cable-SFF-54Y9922 Genuine-Lenovo-ThinkCentre-...Can somebody give me a pinout of the thermal sensor connector for properly wiring this transistor to the connector?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Hiya, In my current PC I have an i5 3470, and In the Thinkcentre M91p i have recently purchased, it has an i7 2600, which is a little overkill for what ive purhcased it for, so I was thinking of swapping the cpu's so I have the 2600 in my gaming PC and the Thinkcentre gets the 3470.However I'm not sure if this would work as I have no idea whether the motherboard of the ThinkCentre would accept the new Ivy Bridge chip, and I don't even know if my Asus P8H77-V would accept the 2600?So would this work? and how would I go about doing it? No.  It's the Intel Chipset that interfaces to memory, and only workstation and server Chipsets support ECC.  Check the specs for your desktop Chipset if you like. 
Also, just because a processor will fit into the socket, does not mean it will be supported by the BIOS.   Sometimes there is overlap between ThinkCentres and ThinkStations which do use Xeons.   If so, that Thinkstation model will be listed on your BIOS download page, but for unknown reasons that upgrade does not always work.

Hello, I cannot find the way to install an AMD FirePro v3900 on a ThinkCentre M91p.I need such board for sharing the desktop between two monitors having a DisplayPort and a DVI and don't have enough time to purchase another board. On the M92p, I can use it by going in the BIOS, set the video settings to "PEG" (PCI-e Graphics Device), enable Multi-Monitor support. The cards works and I can later install the driver (coming with AMD Catalyst) to obtain the possibility extending the desktop to two screens. But on the M91p, it does not work : the screen connected to the PCI Express graphic card reports "no signal" no matter if I connect the display with the DVI or the DisplayPort. I also tried setting the video to "IGD" (Internal Graphics Device) or to "Auto" with the graphic card plugged, but connecting the cable to the M91p's native VGA or DisplayPort, with the hope that I could see something and install the driver for the graphic card. But there is no signal to the native ports when the video card is plugged. I also trid using AMD Radeon cards which were working with ThinkCenter M91p or M92p.One with HDMI+DVI works.One with DisplayPort+DVI doesn't.I need a board with DisplayPort (DP) as most of my screens have DP and no HDMI. The drivers are up to date (including the chipset). Only the BIOS was not updated.Should I update it ? Or does the problem have other origin (e.g. power) ? Thank you very much for your help.

Hi, I am trying to add a second drive (250GB Samsung EVO 850 SSD) to my M91p but I don't see it in the bios. I have tried the 4 sata ports and no luck. The SSd works fine, I pluged it to a docking station and I could format it with my windows laptop.  Samsung magician didn't allow me to do anything via USB. My bios version is 9HKT58AUS 9H45A 06/10/2014 Anybody knows what I could do?

Hello, I recently bought a Thinkcentre m91p desktop. It comes with an Intel Core i5-2400 and a motherboard Lenovo 7052A9G (BIOS 9HKT47AUS - 01/10/2012). What is strange is that the CPU fan runs almost all the time at full speed. I installed HWMonitor and the CPU temperature is normal, but I noticed that one value, the VR temp, is changing all the time and is very high (around 100C and sometimes more than 200C, even at startup). I'm thinking about buying a Zalman Fanmate in order to control manually the CPU fan, but I would like to know if this is a known problem and if there's a solution to fix this. Thanks !

Bought one of these beauties on amazon,  So far ive given it 16gb ram, and a msi 1050ti 4gt lp. it has an I5-2400, #1 would it be worth it swap in an i7-2600, and if so, does anything need changing? #2 all of the reviews ive read say that the 240w psu handles it, but should i upgrade, and to what? i have some m58p and one m90p and i think a m91 or m93p,,
-have all thinkcentre pcs this 11 pin connector, same on m90 and 91p?
- is there any possibility to connect a newer usb device to that 11 pin connector?
- is there any adapter to usb 2.0 or maybe 3.0?
or can i only connect a normal female usb device like a cardreader with 9 pins to 11 pin connector with not using the two most right pins?

Hello everyone,Recently my motherboard started to beep twice and just has a black screen. I made sure to have the power cables plugged in and everything. I just got a recent AMD Polaris card (RX 550) for Lenovo ThinkCentre M91p, and it simply doesn't boot with it. It doesn't even get to the starting splash screen with Lenovo logo. The monitor remains blank. I updated the BIOS to the last release I could find but it still didn't help. Can anything be done with it? It works with Nvidia cards, but I'm running Linux and want to use open drivers, so AMD is a much better option. I replaced the power supply by the way with better one.

Updated to Windows 10 Pro x64 and now multiple BSODs per day. I've run the Lenovo driver updates and everything is up-to-date including power management software. Also reset BIOS to defaults. The BSODs seem to be related to sleep mode but not 100% sure about that. The BSOD message is "driver irql not less or equal...ndis.sys". I only have one add-on to the unit, a USB3 card. Anybody else having this or suggestions on how to proceed? I'm considering rolling back to W7.

Hey everyone, I am trying to install new parts onto my workstation. I accidently unplugged the cables that connect to the power switch and such. I was wondering if there was a manual for the Motherboard that would show me exactly where to plug the switches in at. How do I fix my Lenovo ThinkCentre High Performance M91P Desktop Computer that froze, fan speed increases and won't display on the monitor anymore?Hello, today my computer froze and now I can't see the screen anymore. It's been freezing multiple times but now after I unplugged it, it won't display anymore. I have a meeting tomorrow on this computer! bought a ThinkCentre M91p, minus the hard drive. The bios rev is 9HKT43AUS and BOOT block is 9H43A
Fitted a blank 2TB hard drive, with the intention of loading LINUX mint. My problem is that the system is still
attempting to boot from a non existing LAN. The original specification inculded PXE V2.1 and AMT 7.1
How Can I return this Unit to boot normally to the HHD. Will upgrading the Bios Acheive this, or must I also
work on the Uefi.  Sorry if this seems simple It is causing me a large amount of stress.

A:ThinkCentre: recommissioned system will not boot from HDD; BIOS, AMT, PXE, M91p

I'd recommend going into the UEFI, which replaces the old BIOS standard, and resetting to optimal defaults, which will likely fix the issue. You also should update it, if you have access to a Windows system use rufus to format a bootable dos usb stick and copy the contents of the USB Drive UEFI BIOS Flash Package so you won't need Windows (or a CD) on the actual system to do updates. The current version is 58 vs the 43 you have on there now. By the way you can also use rufus to install Windows to a usb drive for 'Windows To Go' mode which is quite useful at times, especially if you don't want Windows on the system itself. You can download a Windows 10 iso directly from Microsoft's website and via rufus  'Windows To Go' mode isn't limited to just the Enterprise version. CHANGES for 9HKT58A/9HJT58A

Dear community, I found a M90p USFF system board in the garbage, fully functional when tested. But without the case or anything else. Repairing, especially old hardware, is something I really value: make something work without having to buy new stuff. I was planning to build my own home-theater mini-pc, and already have standard USB-Audio Front I/O panels, and power buttons, and almost all the rest.Lucky me, so I only need the heatsink, power adapter, and the pinout for USB, Audio and power (the system board was set to restore power automatically, so I could test. But eventually, I want to switch it on with a power button like a normal computer). - I found https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/ThinkCentre-front-panel-connector-power-audi...but the number of pins is not correct.- Pictures I found of the Front I/O 45J9567 are not good enough to really see anything. All wires are within a plastic tube, so no luck either. Can somebody help me out? Are there schematics of the system board? Nowhere I found information of the pins. AC97/HD audio headers look differently, and USB headers normally have a 5+4 pinout (with the M90p USFF it's only 4+4). Having a hard time finding a part number for the secondary hard drive cage.  This would be the cage that is L-shaped and attaches to the base of the tower.  For now I was able to put the 2nd hard drive in the card reader bay, but would prefer to mount as designed as I'm concerned with the heat associated with one hard drive mounted directly about the other.thanksjoe

I purchased a Temp sensor unit to fill a 3.5" empty bay where a floppy was. It has the standard 2 leads with one CPU sensor, and one HD sensor. I was just wondering what the best location is to adhere the HD sensor. I have it taped to the middle of the top and it's reading about 22C which seems low.

I have 2 EIDE hard drives(both WD), the master and slave have a slot between them. With only one lead I put the sensor on the master of course. I realize these things aren't that accurate, just trying to do the best I can.

The desktop currently can only access the internet using the hardwired RJ 45 connection, but I would like to add the ability to access the internet wirelessly by installing a wireless card in one of the available PCI express slots. I would like to know what wireless cards are available and compatible with this model. Thank you!

I'm just looking at new fan controller with temp sensor. Another one i had was of lower quality but there was a real difference between the CPU temperature on the controller and that in Everest.

So the question is were exactly is the best place to put the CPU sensor. Ive heard its bad to put it in the heat sink of the CPU cooler so were is a good place.

I know you'll say they are just not very reliable but i would like to make it as reliable as possible.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor and when I look at the temps it fluctualates a lot depeneding on if I put it on standby or shut it down. Like when I have it shut down and then start it, it is in the high 30 or low 40 Celcius. And it may go up a bit (tops 50) if I am playing games, but then it comes back down. Now if I take it out of standby (only RAM gets power) it starts at mid 50's (it won't go any lower) and can go up to 60 when playing games. I read somewhere that the sensors don't always work propely so is this the case here?

I bought a new case. Pretty good (should be with it's hefty price tag of 65 ($130))

It has a HDD and CPU temperature sensor connected to the front screen. I have two hard drives so I just wedges the HDD sensor between the two hard drive, lovely job.

Where do I poke the CPU sensor to get a reading of CPU temp?

Is anyone experience some odd temperature diode changes in SpeedFan?
I have set sensor diode 1,2,3 to thermistor diode, PII diode, thermistor diode. Even though the settings have been saved sometimes the diode setting is changed to a different setting. My memory is not overclocked, but my CPU is and stable. I don't think it's my memory since I have not noticed any similar cases of this with other apps paremeters getting changed.

Hey all,

A few people here turned me on to the AIDA32 person system information software and I've got to say its pretty neat.

But, over in the temp sensor section I can not figure out what the AUX temp sensor is measuring...

I checked my bios, double checked my monitoring program PC alet 4. and even started up fuzzylogic just to see if any of these had an additional sensor I wasn't aware of.

Here is my concern...
Motherboard temp 31C/ 88F
CPU 39C/102F

Both the mobo and CPU temps are exactly to PC Alert 4 (and are what I expect to see normally.)
By ambient case temp is 29/ 77F just to confuse you a little more.

Cooling has never really been a concern.... The hottest by P4 ever ran was 56 and that was OCd at 2.5, so I have no idea where is number could of come from, but its a little too toasty for my likes.

Any ideas?

OK have read a few web site info about temp sensors, most cover desktops and a few touch on laptops. Well I have been monitoring the temp of my CPU and I have found the 100 C is the max temp, Well not knowing it I play UT3 on high performance setting and it reached a high temp of 105, which I think means I either have the wrong sensor reading or AMD doesn't know the top temp cause at 105 I would think I should have fried my CPU since I was playing for at least 30 mins.

So I am basicly asking for help on finding the right Temp sensor and program to monitor it and if possible warn me in some way or put the laptop into sleep mode if it temp reaches to high.

I have my specs filled out and using

Core temp .99.5 which was recommended to me.

Also please explain in simple terms please, the doctors have me on 15mg morphine IR and muscles relaxers so I need it simple right now LOL. I will try and find the sites I visited if that would help. Oh and any info that might be need I will find and post as this heat issue concerns me.

HWMonitor, RealTemp, SpeedFan, are ones I have used. I really don't like speedfan but it's the only one that will read some CPUs I have found. HWMonitor is good but none are always right. None are completely dependable.

My 6800GT's temp reads: 52C (GPU) at idle, i was wondering if my sensor was innaccurate or my card is just running hot.

It sits in a Tsunami Dream, with a Zalman heatsink on it as well as ramsinks and an extra 80mm fan underneath.

Why should my card be so hot? does it matter if it gets hot? Its never artifacted.

Any knowledge is appriciated,

GPUs run a lot hotter than CPUs and chipsets. That temp is actually very good for a 6800GT, and nothing to worry about.

Alright so I got a rather strange topic that has been in my head the last couple of years, I just never posted or said anything about this on a forum or to someone else. I just thought I'd finally share it, and this place seems to be a great place to find a possible answer to a problem I had with my old system that I was never able to solve.

Is it possible to actually corrupt a temp sensor reading when using different kinds of temp reading software? I know its an odd question. I tried doing a google search on this awhile back and i think i found only one thread on another forum where a person actually corrupted his readings.

Lemme explain... I had my old system of xp2000+ on an A7V333. I've had that system for 5+ yrs. During that time I noticed my temps go slowly higher and higher. Despite changing the heatsink with about 7 different kinds of heatsinks and reapplying with many different kinds of thermal materials including AS3, 4 as well as other AS products (I even used thermal padding that came with the HSFs) every single re-installation of the HSFs did nothing to the temp readings. It always read 60C no matter what I did. I just got so fed up I gave up in trying to lower the temps. Whats pretty funny is that during the entire time I was using my xp2000+ system I had no problems during those years. Surely if those readings were true I would of had problems. A 60C temp reading isn't good if it was real, is it? Thats not even gaming or during the SUMMMER!... Read more

Since those sensors are probably the type that change electrical conductivity with heat to ascertain a 'temperature', it is a high probability that many do indeed fail over a period of time.

Hi, A couple of weeks ago temp sensor 1 gives a false reading, it says it reads 99 degr C, whilst it isnt! This results in a fast spinning CPU fan which makes a lot of noise. Is there anyway to override this sensor? Thanks! Pieter

Hi guys, I just picked up a dell OptiPlex 755. I like it but Iv'e had a lot of work to do on it . someone loaded windows 7 over the windows vista it came with but did not finish the job,so I had a lot of fun getting it going. After getting avg on it ,getting explorer 8 updated to 11 ,getting the sp1 and other programs and updates up and going, I changed the ram. it came with just 1 gig of ram and I was lucky to have just the right sticks to upgrade it to 4gigs. Don't worry I checked out the speck before changing the memory, however I now get a message when I start up the computer that it cannot detect the air sensor or the front panel?? also the fan seems to be running fairly hard. can someone explain what might be the problem thx dewitt

I have a Leadtek A250 Ultra ti4600. The manual that came with the card mentions a "Hardware Monitor" that registers temps for the card on the desktop. I downloaded the WinFox program from the installation CD, but cannot access the "Hardware Monitor" program. I tried to find out if that option was available for my card at the Leadtek website, but could not. Do many video cards have this type of feature?

I am assuming that there is not a temp sensor on my video card, but I thought I would ask the through the forum, just to make sure.

Some cards do and some don't. One program that I find will tell you with a fair degree of certainty if it does is Everest: http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=1&lang=en&pageid=3
Look under the Computer -> Sensor section for a GPU sensor reading. If you see one then you can try something like Speedfan to see if it'll read it too. Speedfan is really handy provided it reads the sensors you want.

Like, for example, I could say to alert when a certain sensor goes above 90 degrees? I have SpeedFan, but it's no good for checking that the GPU temp is alright when running a fullscreen game.

So I have five options for a screen brightness: Darkest, Darker, Suggested, Brighter, Brightest. So the "Suggested" options, as it may seems, supposed to use the light sensor and adjust the screen brightness corespondedly but instead it has the fixed brightness level, right in the middle between Darker and Brighter. It can never be the "Darker" or the "Brightest" as you may expect, it has always fixed value.  So my question is: Are there a way to make the light sensor actualy do the usefull job?

I have tried a few different windows images, windows troubleshooting feature, and the latest versions of the drivers.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, disabling and re-enabling, re-imaging, updating windows. None have had the effect of actually making it work. I'm running win 10.0.10240, on dell latitude 5285 and 5289. This is affecting the entire Intel Integrated Sensor Solution Driver and all the included sensors, compass, accelerometer, gyroscope GPS and ambient light.

does anybody know the connections to build myself a DVI-D to VGA adapter ?
I need to connect a "new" video card with a DVI-D output to an "old" CRT monitor with a VGA cable, and i don't want to buy a commercial item.

I have this pinout:

9-pin Female 9-pin Male
3 Yellow 2
2 White 3
6,7,8 Solder together ----
5 AC ADapter gnd (-)green and orange Green pin 1 Orange pin 8
red to Ac adapter (+) 5
4 Blue 4

Now, I understand how to do most of this, but the part that throws me are the pins 6,7,8 being soldered together...I'm assuming any other color than the ones I'm using for the other pins...but soldered together, where? The actual wires?

Also, I'm wondering if I can do this using an RJ-45/Dsub9 adaptor and some CAT5e....but how would I achieve the above pinout using this method?

I am installing an Intel motherboard into a case that is equiped with 2 front panel USB connectors. The case came with no documentation.

What I'm looking at is 2 sets of 4 wires each labeled as follows:

a)USB1+ (yellow)
b)USB1- (green)
c)VCC (red)
d)Ground (black)


I found the following on the intel site:

5. USB_FNT 1

I am assuming (yes I know what happens when you assume that:
USB_FNT 1# = USB1+

Can anyone confirm this?
