Solved: Google Crome Won't Save All Passwords

Q: Solved: Google Crome Won't Save All Passwords

I'm running a laptop with Win 8 & Google Crome and like the software to save my passwords which it is doing except for Gmail. It will not save them. Matter of fact the option box does not even pop up for me to try and save them. It will work for all other sites so is there a setting somewhere that I need to change to allow ALL passwords to be saved. If there is I can't find it and it's driving me nuts because I have to check my accounts numerous times each day. " Offer to save passwords I enter on the web " is selected in the Crome settings.

Preferred Solution: Solved: Google Crome Won't Save All Passwords

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Chrome is not a file browser - which is what you appear to be using it for.
You should use Windows Explorer ('Computer' NOT Internet Explorer) for browsing files on your own computer.

Do you mean tabs or windows?
If tabs...
Close all but the tab with the URL you want to open as your start window.
In the upper right, (below the [x] to close Chrome),
you will see an icon that is three horizontal bars.
Click this. (Left click!)
Go down to "settings" (near the bottom of the list), Left Click.
It will open a new tab.
In the second section (On Startup) you will see three options.
The third is "Open a specific page or set of pages".
Left click the link to "set pages"
Left click the button that says "use current pages"
and your current "list" will clear and become only the tab you have open.

I have a computer that has 2 GB of RAM at 1066 MHz which is 1 yr. old, when I use google chrome, firefox and CS5 at the same time it only uses 61-65% memory, its weird that you only have one page open on chrome and it uses 200 MB memory, Are your browsers up to date? If not update it. I think it has something to do with your RAM, probably you have a memory leak from what I know. What are the extension and add-ons in your chrome that is using that much RAM? I have 32-bit W7 when its idle it uses 20% memory.

Don't know of this will help but you could give it a try.

Go to Control Panel > Internet Options.

Click on AutoComplete Settings button.
Check mark User names and passwords on forms option.

You may have to click the Delete AutoComplete history... button to "erase" previously stored passwords and user names to give yourself a clean slate to start over.

I am using Google Chrome and I love it so far but like in Firefox, there are certain sites it will not save the passwords for. For example, Wells Fargo. I've got the same Wells Fargo issue with Firefox. Maybe a third party password saving app might work with Chrome (or Firefox, for that matter).

I am running W7 Home Premium and IE9.  For some reason IE has lost it ability to save Passwords.  I have tried all the obvious stuff that is recommend on various forums - Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset and/or Restore Advance
Settings.  I have also made sure the Tools/Internet Options/Content/Auto Complete Settings for "User Names and Passwords" and "Ask Me Before Saving Passwords" are checked.  Nothing helps!  What else can I do to get this thing working.
I have two other machines with the same set up and they work and act like they should.  The machine I am having trouble with is a friend's who has let several "free" virus scanner downloads happen and I am pretty sure one of them has screwed up IE9.
As a last resort is there any way to just delete IE9 and reload it?

Currently I am using windows vista 32 bit home premium, and IE8. I have been trying to get IE8 to save usernames and passwords on the different sites I go to and no luck. I have been all through the setting for the browser and am pretty sure I've done everything right. I can get IE8 to prompt me to give an answer as to whether or not I want it to save my password, but when I say yes it does nothing. I have went through the measures of restoring default settings and then cleaning out my my browser history, temp files, %temp% files, and prefetch files and then restarting the pc. From there I went back in and adjusted the settings once more so it would save my passwords. Still no luck with that.

Does anyone know what might be going on here?

Thank you in advance for your help.

A:IE8 Won't save passwords

Hi crazzilla - There are several things that can cause this and it sounds like you have taken a lot of great steps (resetting Internet Explorer options, clearing cache, etc). First try fixing this by following these steps: Tools > Internet Options > Content > Auto Complete > Settings > Uncheck Forms and see if that solves the problem.

If that does not do the trick, check out the options for a fix in this blog post from MSDN - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ieinternals/...ems-in-ie.aspx

Hope this helps!

I am experiencing a recent problem, in that my passwords will not save on the internet, although I select to have them saved. This is the first time I have had this problem in years. This started about 1 month ago, several days after installing an ethernet card and cable modem. This may be coincidental or I might have unknowingly changed a setting somewhere along the line. Perhaps I have a damaged file. I have tried my best to discover the cause of this, but cannot. I work out-the-house for a large website and I have 5 different sets of usernames and passwords that I use each day. Having to enter them each time I log on is a major annoyance. I don't work with any of the technical people there, so I have no one to ask for help. I appreciate any help/ guidance you may be able to offer. Thanks so much!

Up till yesterday all my passwords in all programs would save. Yesterday they all stopped. All mail clients (Outlook and Thunderbird), Chrome, Explorer, Firefox. No matter what I run I have to input the passwords. Not so bad just going to a website but every time I try to retrieve my email with either mail program I have to re-input the passwords for all accounts. With about 8 email accounts it is a PITA. I am logging in and out of websites all day so it is obviously very useful to have those passwords retained too. Even software that I use in business that are pretty industry specific would keep the passwords up till yesterday

I have been working on this for 2 days now and the result is always the same. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I am running XP sp3.

I'm using Chrome as a browser and it will NOT save passwords. Is it strictly the browser problem or my new computer?

A:save passwords on bookmarks

@Joonben? I have not heard of saving passwords on (in particular) web pages that are bookmarked. Although I use the browser on occasion, I am not a Chrome user: I might have missed something -- and / or bookmark-passwords might be something you can "Add" from the Google store. Without having any idea what kind of HP computer you have, I cannot answer the question definitively; I can offer the following: In general, there should not be something in an HP (or other vendor) computer that blocks Chrome settings or prevents functionality. Chrome 52.0.2743.116 m provides the following setting to save the passwords on Web pages: Chrome > Settings > Advanced > Under Passwords and forms >CHECK Offer to save your web passwords  (Manage Passwords) If all else fails, check your Security Software for a setting that might interfere with Chrome settings / password management.  When you see a Post that helps you,Inspires you, provides fresh insight,Or teaches you something new,Click the "Thumbs Up" on that Post. Fixed / Answered? I noticed about a month ago that MSN stopped saving my password and username, I thought perhaps it was some new upgrade to MSN screwing it up. Later after some research I found out its possible that its a Windows Profile issue.

Then about a week ago I realized that Windows was no longer saving my passwords, or my usernames. Which is a nice feature for junk email accounts.

I also noticed that Internet Explorer 7 gets hung up a lot. I'll double click it, and its just a white blank page that never loads. So I have to X out, and open it up again.

I ran SpyBot, Adaware, and Malwarebytes this morning. Each found normal common junk, I removed it as usual. The only one I can recall off the top of my head is that Adaware found Win32TrojanMidgare, after it was removed I noticed Malwarebyets had been uninstalled. So I had to reinstall it.

I'm not sure if the computer is infected with something, or my windows user account is messed up or what.

I read on another forum to create a new windows account and use that, I tried, but NONE of my stuff is on that username, and I don't even know how to begin to transfer all the stuff and settings. It seems like I'd lose stuff, and thats not an option, I run a website and everythings on my main username.

So, anyhelp would be great.

When I log in to any page that requires a password, I usually click "yes" to saving my password in IE 7. However, when I return to the page, it doesn't remember it. This happens on every site, e.g eBay or my email, or anything. I've reset the settings, but no change. If I click "remember me" on some sites, it will remember the username or e-mail, but not the password.

I tried posting this a little while ago but I don't think I explained it very well, so please forgive me for posting the same problem again...

I use IE 9.0 for nearly everything with good results, but have had one peculiar problem. The program will not ask to remember passwords on certain websites. Particularly, it won't ask for passwords on most bank websites and also on the login for the online school I work for.

I have done the basics such as clean out cookies, temporary internet files and so forth, but the problem persists. It works perfectly normally for all other websites like this one, YouTube, etc. Other browsers will memorize the passwords for the above mentioned websites, so this seems to be something peculiar to IE. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

A:IE 9.0 Will Not Save Passwords on Certain Websites

If I recall correctly, IE purposefully does not remember the passwords for certain sites. Think about it. If it saved the password for your banking site, and someone else used your computer, especially if it was stolen, they would have full access to all of your banking info. If they accessed your work info, they could send melicious emails, from your work email account, to everyone you work with. Personally, I have a problem with browsers offering to save my login information for my banks website.

I've been having a rough couple of weeks... now the hard drive in my primary computer (a notebook) has died. I've replaced it, reinstalled Windows 7 64-bit, and am trying to get things going agian. The most frustrating problem I'm having right now is that Chrome (my preferred browser) won't ask to save passwords. Neither will IE8. FireFox, on the other hand, does. All three are set to "Ask to save passwords" but only FireFox wants to do it. Any thoughts?

A:IE and Chrome won't save passwords

Chromium seems to use the same settings as IE since the Internet Options applet opens when you try to change network settings. So it would seem that the problems were related.

I just moved a Vista installation to a completely different chipset with all its programs and settings. After a rough start, it runs fine now. But some permissions got changed during the transition somehow. I used subinacl and this site's directions to restore (or rather "add") registry and file permissions that got me going again. A lot of things seemed to work better.

Is UAC involved you think? Or policy?

Try saving the setting in Internet Options with both browsers closed. It could be that with both accessing the same applet (probably Google), the change is blocked.

Good luck.

I don't know where to put this, but can someone tell me why the heck this stupid 7/ie8 WILL NOT SAVE PASSWORDS AND LOG IN'S?

Please tell me there is a solution for this.

A:IE8 Wont Save Passwords

Where are you trying to save passwords / usernames / etc? If you're on an SSL site and it's a forms-based login on the page, it won't work, period - by design. If you're having trouble in username/password form fields on non-SSL sites, that's a different story. It could still be by design (there are page attributes that can disallow this), but it can also be a problem with your autocomplete or credential cache in IE8 at least - if it's a forms-based logon on a web page, it would be autocomplete. If it's a Windows dialog, that's credman (and has nothing to do with IE).

So, which is it? Also, this probably belongs in the browsers section, for what it's worth.

Many people, like myself, keep most passwords in a text file on their computer. We are often warned not to do that because a computer criminal can find this info and abuse it. How does that work? How can they find the info in a text file? Do they use a 'robot' to search through all the text files, or is it a physical person?

A:How save are passwords etc on your computer

It depends on how and where they are saved.  If you save them on your desktop in a file called passwords, probably not as safe as storing them in an encrypted file with a generic file name.  The passwords are more likely to be stolen as you use them.

I have written this question to the Firefox forum, but gotten no replies all day so thought I would try here where I usually always get a reply.

I have just upgraded to Firefox 2. I can't get the Password Manager to remember my passwords on many occasions. For example I have just visited 4 sites where I wanted it to record my passwords. It only remembered 1. Is there any way to force this or a way to enter them into Password Manager manually?

I have Firefox 2 on 2 computers. One has remembered all these passwords and the other seems to work when it feels like it.

These are not on the "Never Remember" list. They are simple sites like games and My Space which my grandchildren use all the time and are remembered on my computer, but not theirs.

Thank you.

A:Firefox Passwords won't save

I don't have an answer to your question but, as Firefox 2 currently has a low risk exploit which affects the password management feature, you would probably be better off disabling password management until version 2.1 is available;http://secunia.com/advisories/23046/

When I upgraded HP ProtectTools to HP Client Security version, it will no longer save password information. When I have to change a password, it will prompt me if I want to save the new one, but it does not change what is stored. This is true even if I manually edit the password. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

A:HP Client Security will not save new passwords

Hi, I had a similar problem (can't edit/remove existing information, can't add new information). This has been solved for me since I installed version own a Zbook 17 G2 and you don't mention your type.I therefore don't know if that newer version is compatible with your machine. You can look for it in the compatibility list on its download page:http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=6978822&swItemId=ob_158015_1&swEnvOid=405... Beware: I now have different issues...See my new post. Best regards,Johan

Hello, IE 8 USED to store all my login credentials for all my favorite websites. Then one day, it simply stopped. Every time I log in I have to put in my user name and password. It then promts me to "save my password" and of course I say yes. Then if I close the browser and reopen it it's like I have never been to the site. I have set all my Internet Options to the lowest possible setting and allowed everything under the sun to be stored (not forever, im not stupid but to see if it would work). It doesn't. I'm ready to scream. All I want is the damn browser to remember my login info because I have about 10 sites I visit each day and having to type my user name and password every single time is driving me crazy! Please oh please someone email me a solution!

[email protected]

PS I have reinstalled IE8 three times. The odd thing is it remember my facebook and youtube info but not myspace, N4G, yahoo, msn, or any other sites.

A:IE 8 promts to save passwords but IT DOESN'T

Have you tried the alternative way of uninstalling, and did you reboot before you installed it again? Does this happen in other browsers?

A:Windowsxk ,please Dont Save Passwords For Me!

I'm assuming you are talking about Internet Explorer?

If so, click Tools - Internet Options - Content tab - click on "Autocomplete...".

Here you will be able to clear passwords, forms, and turn off autocomplete.

Do you have Internet Options set up to delete your browsing history on exit? (see below) If so, click on the Delete button and ensure the option for Passwords is unchecked.

In Firefox click Tools | Options | Security, make sure Remember passwords for sites is checked.

What program are you hitting Save and Quit in and what does that have to do with rebooting the PC (Start | Turn Off Computer | Restart)?

I would like to turn on the AutoComplete feature in IE that saves user names and passwords on forms, but when I goto the AutoComplete settings dialog box, the options "User names and passwords on forms" and "Prompt me to save passwords" are greyed-out (i.e. I can't select them). I have searched through the registry to try to find some key that is responsible for not allowing me to select them, but have had no luck. I am using NT4/SP6 and the latest build of IE5.5. I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE from scratch and that hasn't worked. Does anyone know a work around for this?

I have a problem with Microsoft Edge. It won't save my passwords on sites, nor it will ask me to save passwords on sites. I have quite a few that were save previously with Windows 7, but obviously, not all of them have transferred to Windows 10. I have been to Settings, View advance settings, offer to save passwords in ON, unchecked it OFF, then back ON. No changes. I have about 10 passwords saved under Manage my saved passwords, but can't add any. Any solutions?
