Text size keeps changing.!!!

Q: Text size keeps changing.!!!

For some odd reason, my text size on webpages keeps changing from med to large. I am not doing anything but going from page to page. I will set the text size to med, then all of a sudden I will pull up a page and the setting will be at large. My hijack this registry is clean. Any help would be great. It is not hard to change it back to med when I need to, but is getting annoying.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Windows 7 64-bit
I can adjust the display so it's large enough to read everything but the text. For instance, now have it set at 150% of normal and the title of this post is large but what I'm typing now is so small it's barely readable. MUCH smaller than 10-point.

There is a way to customize the display, but anything more than 150% is so large it overflows my wide-screen monitor. Surely there must be a choice between way too large and way too small, but I can't find it.

A message on my screen now says to run TSG Sysinfo, for information helpful in solving this problem. Last time I downloaded something similar, here, I ended up with a $40 Uniblue program on my computer that I had to fight like crazy to stop invading my world. I never got my money back, either. It would help to know what "TSG Sysinfo" is, before I commit to running it.

Thanks,
Bahb

Hey all, sometimes when I enter the TSG site my text size changes. One minute the text is the size I have it set to and then when I go to a different thread it will get larger. At times if I hit the refresh button it goes back to the right size and sometimes it doesnt. I ran ccleaner but it does not make any difference. I have tried firefox(3.6) in safe mode but no difference there. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this also. It is only the TSG site that this happens on.

Hi chaosbreaker

I placed the font size button on the toolbar which makes it easier than using View>TextSize>Size.

As to why the font changes sizes every so often...I don't have a better answer except maybe it depends on the phase of the moon.

Have you tried pressing the Shift key while exiting the last browser to retain your settings?

A very non-computer savvy woman asked why the text size changes (sometimes to large or very large and sometimes to small or very small) while she is typing on her netbook with XP. She says it happens in both her browser (Chrome) and her word processor (MS Works). She also is running Google Desktop. I did not see any utitlities or other unusual software. She says it is random but she thinks she might be brushing against the touchpad when it happens. Any guesses what she is doing? (She was going to try to show me but her battery died.)

If the touch pad is setup with a Scroll Zone, pressing CTRL+ScrollZone is same as CTRL+Wheel on the mouse, and will change text size in many applications. If they use keyboard shortcuts a lot like CTRL+C and CTRL+V that might explain it. You can disable the scroll zones in Control Panel | Mouse/Touchpad to see if that stops it.

Hey guys,

As the subject says the text size is huge in windows, regardless of windows prefs or teh View -> Text Size option... they're huge and barely readable... just a lot of other problems. Removed a few entries from regedit & msconfig, there were two listings found that looked like a lot of squares and o's as the name, the path was in HLCU/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT or something like that... I removed them as well.

I'll start out here by stating a problem I finally solved and then my question:

For months now I've been fighting that my hardware cursor disappears in World of Warcraft on my home theater system and time I switch modes to full screen and sometimes even in windowed mode and the reason for this is apparently due to me setting my display text size to 150% or 125%. I did find via some searching WoW customer service forums that if I set it back to 100% (default) OR 149% customized, my hardware cursor works again. I'm going to leave it at 149% because I really do need the larger text size on my HDTV and using 149%, I don't have to change back to normal, log out, log in, then start my game.

I'm glad I found this solution - but my question is, WHY is this an issue on Windows 7? Why does 149% work??

I did some searching and couldn't find any reports of this on XP - and as far as I can remember it only started happening to me when I upgraded my XP to Win7. I'm hoping Microsoft recognizes this as a bug and will fix it someday.

Thanks in advance!

A:Game "hardware cursor" disappears after changing text size

This has to do with DPI scaling. Technically, when you change DPI different images should be used (higher DPI - higher quality image).
150% probably is that border where image should be changed. Likely, in your case that image is missing or somewhat corrupt (or might be a Blizzard's bug).

But Microsoft knows about problems with scaling. In Windows 8 Dev. Preview, at least in Metro part of it, scaling is done in a different way.

I am trying to use a Knoppix CD to access my files locked on my computer during a NTFS-related error. I have downloaded an ISO and I have burned the CD successfully and Knoppix loads like a dream.

However, Knoppix's default font is so huge that I can't navigate the system. I'm a moderate computer nerd; though I am brand-new to Knoppix, I could easily and confidently follow the instructions I have if only I could read the words on the Knoppix screen!

Can anyone offer any easily-understood, step-by-step directions for how to shrink the text size? I have been Googling forever, but I haven't come up with anything I can understand.

A:How to re-size the explorer search box. - Large text size.

Hi,
According to my experience, high-DPI can cause strange behavior include toolbars, icons, and control buttons, though the link I shared with you previously doesn't include the issue about ratio between address box and search box, the symptom
is somewhat similiar to that.
I recommend that we turn on Windows update, and wait for an update which might address this issue, or as you mentioned, turn to a lower dpi as a temporarily workaround.

Windows 10.

I am having much fun grappling with my displays. I say grapple because I CANNOT see the text!

I have a laptop, with a display that has up to 2048x resolution and an external monitor that does 1920x. I have tried to keep both set the same resolution so the mouse will easily go back and fort.

If I bump one setting, others seem to change. Like after an update too!

I need a script, to set, then set again, and again, the
display settings,
the custom scaling level, and
the "change only text size".

Keeping the monitor placement geometry the same would be great for me too.

Oh for a cross reference on Outlook 2013 to the system setting. I keep manipulating the view settings there too.

Probably to get started I could use a "settings display" script.

Help, please

Hello sevenforums! I have a problem with my computer i recently purchased. Here is my story.

This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.

Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.
Before
After

My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.

Help me! It is driving me crazy and I have no idea how to fix it. I cannot save a theme and change to it, otherwise it results in the small font. It affects all the fonts soon afterwards. Like google chrome will be fine until i exit and restart the program. Then a super small font follows.

Strange...when I change the font size here it stays that way.
you could always try, what Windows help says to that:
To override website font and color settings
If you want to have the fonts and colors you specify in Internet Explorer to be used for all websites, regardless of the fonts that have been set by the website designer, follow these steps:

Click to open Internet Explorer.

Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

Click the General tab, and then click Accessibility.

Select the Ignore colors specified on webpages, Ignore font styles specified on webpages, and Ignore font sizes specified on webpages check boxes, and then click OK twice.

Hope that helps

Havent had this computer online in a few months, but tonight when I opened IE the pages are not normal. To try to explain: most pages text are much bigger than normal size (some pages text are almost screen size for a few letters even), some pages headings or table headings (&borders) are not even shown-instead are just normal white background at times, many images & just all around format or layout on most every page is not correct. Sometimes I will have big white areas on both sides of the normal page, as if the screen was 2-3inches more narrow. I think every page so far has been much longer than normal. I have changed my screen size in control panel. Changing my text size on view in my toolbar does nothing either. Any clue?

Hello RonBin79,

If you are referring to the DPI display settings, then the default settings is 96 DPI (100%). Be sure that you also have your screen resolution set to it's native resolution as well for default settings.

If you just wanted to change the size of items in Internet Explorer, then you could adjust the zoom level in Internet Explorer instead if that would help.

Hope this helps,

If you do not want to set it at 125%, and if you are using a mouse with wheel at the top....................

Press Ctrl key and hold > roll the wheel.
Clockwise is to decrease text size.
Counter-clockwise is to increase the text size.

That will mean that on every page you are viewing, you need to manually roll the mouse wheel to adjust text size.

I have tried the obvious simple fixes of going to view>text size> and setting it to medium and going into the windows display settings and setting them to default. I have set every setting to default and still the text is monstrously huge! I even looked in the registry. Still no dice. This problem is so common yet specific that even goggling it does not come up with the desired results. I am level 1 support and I would like to be able to remide this issue instead of passing on a ticket and causing the users more time lost. At this point is it best just to pass it on and have the other support people reload IE?

If the above does not work, try the following.

When you reset your text settings, do you have other browsers open?

If so, try this, open only one instance of Internet Explorer, reset your text size, close the browser.
Windows should remember the settings for the last window you closed.

1. I don't see your text prob except in the CorelDraw boxes. I don't see it in the Adobe.
If it is confined to one program, then that program must have some setting to adjust
text size.
2. Good online scanners available: Nod32 Eset Online scan is good.
Try free version of Superantispyware also and if you like it, buy it for realtime protection.
Not one or another totally catches everything. Run these two on your sis's puter.
Good luck.

RELEVANCY SCORE 48.8

Hi! I just changed my rosulution to 1024x768, but my parents keep complainig because when they surf the net , the text is very very small, so i had to change again to 800x600, and now everything is big and ugly again. Is there anyway of keeping the 1024x768 resolution but enlarge the text size on internet explorer? When i click on VIEW>TEXT SIZE and change it to large, only small parts of the text change, but the main text on the page stays small.
Help!!!
