Q: Poor Quality & Poor Customer Service!

My son was given a laptop for his birthday last year and it has a cracked hinge.
After much research I've learned that this is a very common problem in this laptop. We called customer care center 2 different times and stayed on the phone for at least an hour each time. We were told a box would be sent out for repair. His laptop was still under the 1yr warranty at this time.
Today, we called again to get some answers and they have no record of us calling. (Surprise, surprise!) We still have not received any return box and his warranty has now, of course, expired.
I will never purchase another Dell product again in my life! Also I'll warn everyone I know to stay far away from your products.

A 16 yr old kid has a "new" computer that he uses a stack of books to prop the screen to use his $400 laptop! (because of a cheap screws and plastic casing)
This is unacceptable and shame on you Dell!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Regarding camera issue of mine it's not covered in warranty no damage has been found on phone just on lense what a coincidence I asked for quotation or in written that this will be covered out of warranty service center denied that why I had to voice record there statement 1st on call your excutive said who camera is covered in warranty because camera is single unit she told me bout company and all. And I had Moto X2 for almost 2 year that camera's lenses is bigger that this phone but never got any quality issues with that used iPhone 5s for more than 2 year not even a single spot on lense had Nexus 5 for over 2 year even bigger lense but nothing even tempered glass that cost around INR 7 on my screen lasts for 3 month on my phone but in this phone 100% of back is of glass but no scratches on back but just on camera there is glare type effect and service center said this is physically damaged and not be covered in warranty and I have to pay INR 230+ for quotation orally and approximately they said INR 1000 and even after repair will not be covered in warranty. After use of 25-30 days of normal usage I have to spent INR 1000. So in a year I have to spend INR 14760 on this phone maintenance if I want to use this phone's camera. I think I had make a BIGGEST mistake choosing LENOVO for 1st time. I want a solution or permanent fix for this issue. having had this yoga700 14 for a year ,a nd today it is dead , no power at all , the  the LED indicator light is not on even with the adapter plug in . ONE year , this is the shotest life laptap that I have ever own. And I have had it sent to Lenovo's depot center four times in this one year . I can only say that their skill is terrible , every time I received my computer from the cemter , my computer would have some new ugly scratches and some sign and distorting edge which was apparently caused by improper disassembly operations. A month ago the computer could not boot up , and it was sent in again and they replaced the motherboard . in just a month, it completely  dies now ,  it does not have power at all, the power led indicator does not turn on at all , even if I have tried several confirmed working adapters. So you can see how poor their quality is   warranty is expired now , I m really disappointed with this first lenovo product I owned  , it was the first and it would be the last lenovo product in my life.

I have been a Dell user for many decades.  For decades, I have bought Dell computers and even Dell cash registers.  Tech support has always been a problem, but the machines haven't fairly maintenance free. So I haven't needed to use tech support much. 
A week ago I ordered a new XPS as my current one is 5 years old and has a few problems.  So I went to the Dell website, opened my longstanding account and ordered a new XPS loaded with options.  I received an email giving me my purchase ID, and I thought I was good.  But my purchase never generated an order number.  
A few days later, I checked the order status only to find no order number.  So I inquired using the Purchase ID number and received a message that my order had problems and instructed me to call a number.  So I did. 
After waiting on hold for a long time someone answered.  I gave her all my particulars and explained the problem.  She then transferred me to another person and I again explained all my particulars and the problem once again.  He then told me I needed to talk to someone else and promptly transferred me back to the answering machine.  So after repeating all the routing questions again, and again waiting for a person to answer,  a person finally answered, and I gave all my particulars and explained my problem again.  That person again explained Dell's processes and transferred me to someone else in "Order Ful... Worst service ever seen. MB changed 2 times within 2 weeks and after service they are saying now it's Battery issue and battery cost is 9k. Said by support Engineer- Either pay this money and get the battery, or pick the laptop and take it another service centre.Everyday im getting call from different team member from Lenovo service center and everyday im explaining same issues. It's been around 3 weeks and still Lenovo are unable to figure out an answer to my queries and issues. And team Lenovo is confused about price of battery themselves too. Hello.  Can anyone provide me with the contact information to escalate an issue I am having with the Lenovo Customer Service?  I have a ThinkPad X1 Carbon 3rd generation.  I have had to send in my X1 Carbon for repair on three different occassions.  I have had to call technical support on at least 4 different ocaissons which has provided little help.  The first time I had to send it in the screen needed to be fixed and the computer was overheating, causing the fan to run very loud and at very high RPMs.  I received the computer back from repair.  The screen was fixed, although they left several streaks on the screen from what looked like an attempt to clean it.  They replaced the fan and yet it continued to overheat and the fan was running loud and fast.  I called tech support.  This was a terrible experience.  They opened a new case ID and had me send it in again.  I sent it in a second time.  I received the computer back.  The repair summary stated the motherboard was replaced.  However, it continues to over heat, causing the fan to run loud and fast.  In addition to this issue I also noticed that the repair facility had left scratches on the lid of my less than 6 month old X1 carbon and they managed to damage the keyboard.  I called technical support and they opened up yet another case ID and had me send it in for repair for a third time.  Now it has been over 3 weeks and I still... I had mailed my complaint on 20th july Case id 4775492341.My laptop is currently under warranty.I was alloted onsite visit on 21st july 2016. which was promised to be attended within 48 hours.  I have been calling everyday since. I have written emails via your website and also to the service head.I am told that my complaint will be addressed, but i have not recieved any service till date. I am extremely disappointed with the service provided! Not only there is delay from your side, but also you do not respect your costumers time!! What more do I need to do to get my laptop fixed!

Hi I would like to convey my disgust at the level of customer service offered by Dell ' customer service'.
I personally own a DELL XPS desktop for business use and have endless problems with video card issues, this I manage ok with except for the occasional freezing and crashing. I purchased DELL due to the rave reviews. I also have a LENOVO laptop which had an issue with a hinge problem. I contacted LENOVO and even though 2 years out of warranty this was repaired. Apparently a known problem.
I have just found out that my son (who suffers from mental health issues) has exactly the same hinge problem with his DELL XPS 13 9343. He has contacted Dell Email Support and basically been informed the unit is out of warranty, It has now got to the stage that the laptop no longer connects to the internet as the problem has caused the wiring to break to the WIFI card. There is a casting inside (next to the hinge) that has broken. Unfortunately the email sent from DELL asks him to ring thereby assuming he can TALK ON THE PHONE. Unfortunately his illness prevents him from doing this. I have only just got involved when I saw him trying to effect a repair to enable him to get on the internet.
Surely DELL must have some other form of discussing issues whether in or out of warranty. People may be impaired in some way from making telephone calls !

I don't think this is a "vendetta post," but merely an expression of my frustration and disappointment. However, I'm sure there are monitors who will correct me if I'm wrong...To whom it may concern, especially Lenovo and anyone considering buying a Lenovo laptop.

My 14 year old son saved up $600 and bought his first laptop with financial help and
technical advice from his technophile aunt in January, 2014: a Lenovo IdeaPad Z510.
Although I was staying out of it while he worked with his beloved aunt (who lives in
another state), I approved the choice of Lenovo, thinking, "Oh, IBM/Lenovo -- if he
ever needs it, he'll definitely get good customer service." I was wrong.

Everything went fine for about 6 months, and then he got the first blue screen. My son is
particularly interested in computers and has interned as a computer repair technician,
but he couldn't get anywhere, so the machine was returned to Lenovo, where it was
repaired (new hard drive) under warranty. This repair took about a month to complete. The
laptop was returned and worked fine for about two months. Then it blue screened again. It
was returned to Lenovo, where it was again repaired under warranty (another new hard
drive). This repair took more than two months to complete. When the laptop was returned
it worked fine for about a month, and then blue screened again. Now the laptop was out of

On January 4, 2017, Dell inadvertently posted a deal for WD Blue SSD WDS250G1B0A for $19.99. I placed an online order for three.  Dell immediately sent me a confirmation for my order. Five days later, they sent me an email to inform me my order has been cancelled, without any explanation. I immediately called to ask the reason for my cancellation.  All three Dell customer service reps told me because Dell posted the price in error.  Then I asked them "isn't that your fault and shouldn't you honor it"? The third and final customer service rep told me "it's not a human error. It's a system error that posted the wrong price". Then i replied "did your system randomly pick out the item and arbitrarily priced the item at $19.99"? His reply was "talk to corporate. we are not authorized to change this policy".  Nice!  Class up the Ying Yang.  By the way, just about every customer service rep for Dell is overseas, and i've had a difficult time understanding 70% what they said.
Dell, in case you sincerely want to change your image, perhaps you should learn a thing or two about customer service.  Even a small computer store like Fry's Electronics or a company as big as Newegg know that honoring the price you published is the right thing to do. This episode reminded me why i stopped buying from you (commercial and personal use) since 2006.

I bought a brand new Lenovo Yoga 13 from a Lenovo shop in China. Windows 8 was pre-installed. In the shop, I requested (on 3 occasions) that Windows 8 be set for English. They told me that I could easily change the language settings when I got home.

However, when I got home I was unable to change the settings. After a quick google, I discovered that Windows in China is a special single-language installation named Windows 8 PRC. It is impossible to change the language.
Obviously, this is no use to me as I don?t speak China. I contacted Lenovo who passed me on to Microsoft. I contacted Microsoft who said that I had to go to Lenovo. Microsoft insisted that Lenovo could simply change the installation to a multi-language version. Here is part of the transcript from online Microsoft chat support:

?Since this is a preinstalled product or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) This was bought by the manufacturer of your computer to Microsoft and they were the one who installed it as well on your computer. The manufacturer have the capability to change the installation to all language installation.?

I have been back to Lenovo (both the original shop and the after sales service office) several times but have had no success. On my latest visit, 4 days ago, I refused to leave the shop until I received a full refund or a multi-language edition was installed. A:Microsoft and Lenovo - VERY poor customer service

I also have a Lenovo that I just bought here in the US (G700 model) and like it quite a bit. I cant speak one way or the other on Lenovo's customer service, since I've never dealt with them. I hate to say it, but your best bet is to download a Windows 8/8.1 iso from the Net (make sure it's multi-language/english first!), format your HDD, and then do a clean install and call MS. The downside is that they may or may not help you activate it. Good luck!

So my story starts with ordering the wrong laptop two weeks ago. I quickly notice this and cancel my request not more than two hours afterword. My cancellation request is ignored and the wrong laptop is sent out to me. Kind of annoying but no big deal. I place an order for the correct laptop Ideapad 520S 14? upon receiving it today I open it up and go to power it and the display is broken. I call technical support and after finally being on hold for 30 minutes when the expected wait time was 4 a representative for Lenovo answers and then hangs up immediately. I call back. Finally get ahold of someone after an additional 15 minutes of waiting. Now I?m being told that there is no estimation on when I?ll be receiving a new laptop. And it could take 1-3 business days just to receive the labels in an email to send this broken laptop back. Completely unexceptable especially since I?m still awaiting a refund from the first laptop that was never cancelled!!! Is there anyone else who has experienced a replacement order and how long it can take? I don?t have forever I may just have to look somewhere else that is more reliable.Thanks

Lenovo is the manufacturer of their laptop motherboards which includes other brands like intel,nvidia,amd etc.. if a customer aproach lenovo service center in india with their laptop to servce all they do is,reinstall os for software issues, and replace,ram,harddisk or motherboard. Replacing hdd and other components are understandable. But nobody here can fix a motherboard issue ,are they lenovo trained technicians or are they just normal laptop servce center who got certified by lenovo to help their customer. I know lenovo dont give a sh about these forums or few number of customers sad reviews.But the guys who made these motherboard knows the components in it well and they have the equipments to test the hardware and find the exact fault. Why cant lenovo service center have that. You have a service center in every city just for name sake.  Please tell a genuine lenovo service center in india which is dedicated for lenovo and which has lenovo trained technicians with good hardware diagnostic equipments, next time instead of wasting time and money in my locale city i will go there to service my laptop.

I've made complaint written as per below email to [email protected] but I still did not get any reply from anyone from lenovo after the complaints I've made to service center through either phone or email. The email as follows:" Dear Sir, Referring to the matter above, I would like to make a complaint on the poor service provided by the service center. It has been 3 weeks since I sent my laptop for warranty claim and they have not replace the cable. hello, you probably get this all the time, but some pictures i download from the net are small, then when i want to blow them up to a viewable size, they are way too blurry. if i wan to print them out, will they still be blurry, and if so, are there any really good programs that would create a sharper, more focused picture.

Most photos on the Internet are optimized to be as small a number as possible of bytes of information and still look acceptable on your monitor.

The reason is to minimize download times for web pages. So most pictures from the web are not suitable for enlarging or printing.

You can right click a picture and click on properties to see how many KB the picture is before you even download it. By experimenting you can up with a number you feel will enlarge enough for your purposes and make acceptable prints.

I include many pictures from the web in greeting cards I create. As long as you keep them small they can be fine for that purpose.

A:Picture Quality Poor

You are running Sympatico Dial-up Accelerator, which drastically compresses all graphic content viewed over the internet.

Hence your picture quality has suffered. You cannot have both a "faster internet experience" and higher quality web graphics. Choose one or the other....

Also you should not be running HiJackThis from a Temp directory if you want to be able to undo any changes, install and run it from a different directory.

I am the proud owner of a 250 g5 notebook for roughly a month now. Everything is working perfect except for the fact that when i want to connect my notebook to my audio setup via the aux port, the quality is very poor. I have tested this on different speakers and the quality sounds way worse than my phone, tv, old computer or any other device with an auxilary output. I have installed new Realtek drivers, but this does not seem to solve the problem. I hope that someone can help me out here.

My laptop has excellent quality audio on cd's, streaming videos, games, and everything else EXCEPT DVD's. It used to play the sound normally but suddenly it started to skip, echo and sounds 'tinny'. The video on the DVD's still plays fine, so it is just the audio that seems to be messed up. Like I say, the audio on everything else still works absolutely fine.
I contacted Acer about the problem and they said I should just reset the laptop and start over, but since most of the programs on the laptop were put on at the factory (including windows) if I reset it then I won't have the disks to put all the programs back on. Any help would be much appreciated.

I know absolutely nothing about Audio. I know that my speaker set up has a subwoofer. That it connects to the back of my computer through a black, green and orange 3-way spliced cable. I know I took the computer apart to move it to a new case and that's when it started. I use the on board sound card to an ASUS A8N32 SLI board with the proper sound driver.

The assistance feature for the less informed, like myself, says there's something wrong with my green cable. There doesn't seem to be any tears or weak connections.

As for the problem itself. Sound is mildly distorted. There's severe bass tones? where there shouldn't be. Half of the sounds from 3d games like Oblivion, do not register.
 

A:Poor quality Audio

You should have a Realtek Aux console. Start/Programs/Realtek===> some drop down menu. In there you can set-up your speakers for 2.1, 3.1, 5.1 etc. also there should be a graphics equalizer where you can set base or there can be a tab just for setting how much sub-woofer (volume and cross-over frequency) I set my cross-over at 60Hz.

You need to tell it how many speakers you have, then set your sub-woofer and you should be ok.

I had a large music collection on my old system (XP sp2). After a motherboard death, I pulled the hard drive and installed it as a slave in my new system. (Presario SR1724NX).
The sound quality is very poor. Sounds echo, and some of the vocal tracks are almost inaudible.
I have tried Media Player 10 and RealPlayer and both sound alike.
I am thinking the Sound Card is bad, but before I buy a new one I am hoping someone will have some suggestions.
Also recommendations for a good sound card and speakers are welcome. I don't have a "Golden Ear", but I would like it to sound good.

Second question have you gone to the Manufacture site of your Video Card and download the latest Drivers directly from them or from Sony?

Hello guys,
I just recently purchased an Acer Aspire X1700, which I now regret. Anyway, I am very disappointed in the sound quality of the system. After toying with the idea of replacing the sound card, I found out that this computer is not really upgradeable, and it looks as though the sound card cannot be replaced in this system, because of it's special configuration. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could make the sound better, if I am not able to change anything out? RIght now all music and video sounds very tinny.

I've had the P50 now for about two months and the touchpad and it's buttons are really poor quality. So bad indeed that they are also unusable. The touchpad seems to get triggered by the slighest touch, even if I have the 'disabled while typing' set and am typing away (which means while I am typing the mouse pointer will have a mind of its own, jumping all over the place, even selecting large block of text and overwriting it while I'm typing.) And then when I actually want to use the touchpad, it seem to take mutiple 'taps' before it registers, and the left mouse button, when usin git for drag and drop is 'hit-and-miss'  it either takes two or three attempts befor eit actually selects the object under the cursor, and half the time it stops working half way thorugh the drag-and-drop, meaning files get dropped where they shouldn't. It's come to the point where I use the menu cut-paste, which is inconvienient., and will have to go shopping for an external keyboard and touchpad. This is not what I've come to expect from a Lenovo Thinkpad ... this is the 4th Lenovo model I've owned (since back when they were IBM) and this laptop is by far the worst in terms of build quality. ------- Note: I am running RHEL 7.3, not Windows and have no intention of loading Windows on anything I own. But I've been using Redhat on all my Lenovo laptops, and had little to ni issues with them running it to this point.

I have just got my computer hooked up to watch streaming video on my tv, via s-video connection. I have got it to work but the picture quality is very poor. I have been told that I should be able to get a better picture than I have but I don't know what the problem might be, - settings, hardware, tv?
Anybody got any suggestions.

My audio playback quality through wmp 10 has recently become scratchy and tinny. Playback is fine through mplayer2 or through the internet, so my soundcard or speakers can't be at fault. The problem occurs with both CD's and music files. Can anyone suggest a possible fix or otherwise a good alternative media player? Thanks

Hi Team,  I really appreciate with the service/quality provide by HP. For which I bought many HP products and suggest to other people to buy HP products. But I bought a HP Laptop as below description: Model No.- g6-2010AXProduct - B6U50PA#ACJSerial No. - 5CD2425F7L I usually use this laptop in office purpose and never fall/breakdown. But in normal use hinges from both sides broke which made it harder for the laptop to close properly and now the frame is breaking apart. I recently upgraded my SattellitePro 4300 laptop, increasing the ram and HDD. This required a reload of operating system (WIN 2000 Pro) and all drivers and software.
Now the sound coming from the speakers or headphones, no matter what the source (CD's, MP3, or WAV files) sound like an old scratched record, with a "click" every 3 seconds. This is more noticable with loud music, and seems to be an "break" in the sound continuity every 3 seconds, just for a small period, perhaps less than a tenth of a second.
I have done all the obvious things (updated sound drivers, etc.) but still the problem remains. All sound output experiences this problem.

The sound driver is Yamaha DS-XG.

Any suggestions what else I could try?

Well, maybe "fixed" is a little strong.

Not sure what I have done, but it did not include any more drivers, but merely changes to the settings and today, after I powered up this morning, the sounds is working without those annoying "scratched vinyl" simulations.

I'll have to mark this one up as "smoke and mirrors".

Hi. I recently bought a new monitor the other day. It's a flatscreen, 20.1" LCD Sceptre.

I'm new to this whole HD thing, so I was wondering: Why do dvd movies look so grainy on my new monitor?

Have you set it to its native resolution? LCD's unlike crt monitors have one native resolution at which they look best.

I have not been able to record a clean audio track. There is always some echo or distortion.Have tried every option available but cannot get a clean sound. I've had many computers over the years and have never had this problem.I wonder if the soundcard is faulty? Has anyone else encountered this?

Hello Everyone,

I have an issue with my printer and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how I go about fixing it.

I have Canon BJC-4200SP, it's a few years old but still does the job. Today though it has been playing up. I have been using it for work purposes for a while now, printing out customer receipts - so I use the highest quality option.

I had to change the ink today though, I've actually changed the cartridge twice now to try and fix it but what is happening is that I am getting this poor printout quality. You know how you get those white lines through the text and lines for tables come out squiggly and that. That's the only way I can describe the problem really.

Is it that I changed the cartrigde and it needs a few prints before the ink settles. Or is it time for a new printer? I dusted everything and cleaned as much as I could as well. Even did all those printer head cleaning things in maintanence.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
 

A:Poor Print Quality

In your Canon software there should be some way for you to calibrate your ink cartridge. That's what it sounds like to me. Before you calibrate it, I would also do a clean print heads as well. If you don't have Canon software installed, just go to Canon's website, www.canon.com , and see if you can download the drivers from there. GOOD LUCK!

im currently transferring vhs tapes to dvd-R format. Video quality is fine but sound quality is poor. Im using arcsoft showbiz dvd 2 and im using my home cinema audio through my vcr/dvd combi by LG. The manual with arcsoft showbiz dvd is rubbish and i believe their tech support is poor so im looking for someonw with some experience of the software to help me out here. Possibly it is due to the quality of sound on the tape and possibly due to limitations in the arcsoft software

Ive been downloading videos from youtube and converting them using Riva flv encoder,but the quality of the video after encoding is very poor.Am I doing something wrong or are there any settings I need to tweak.Cheers

those videos usually arent the greatest in quality to begin with, you are compressing/rendering/encoding the video again which will remove a little bit of quality everytime, even at higher settings. I'm sorry I have never used the same program you are using, and instead just giving a basics of what I have found to be true when I have made my videos

just got a refurbished dell latitude d620, it is upgraded to win 7, since dell doesnt make a win 7 audio driver for this model the geniric microsoft audio driver was used, the sound works but sounds terrible, static, noise, choppy, i tried vista, xp and sigmatel hd drivers, they all work but sound the same, any ideas?

Your system is not compatible for Windows 7 since there is no audio drivers for Windows 7. If the system is compatible with Windows Vista or XP I recommend sticking with that.

hello, very new here. i recently was given a cannon BJC-4100 printer. after purchasing new cartridges and replacing them i am still having trouble.

i can get it to print things, color is fine. however the black is very light and appears as it would when the cartridge needs to be replaced.

i tried to preform a nozzle check and preform a cleaning, but neither one will print. after a few minutes i get an error.

any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Check the print quality setting of your printer. If it is set on draft quality you can get the results you are describing. Hope that helps.

I really hope someone here can offer me some help with this!

I've built a small htpc with a HauupaugePVR 500 Tunerand connected it (via my motherboards HDMI) to a Sony 40w4500 LCD.

The tuner is connected to my SAGAM set top box via a SCART to phono adaptor with s-video. There's no other way to connect the two together as my stb only has the following connections,
Digital tv broadcasts via a cable Sagam stb with the following connections,
Audio - S/PDIF, Right and Left audio connectors.
Video - HDMI connector, Y, Pb and Pr?
The only other connections available are 2 Scart sockets one labeled TV and the other VCR.

I've got a s-video lead plugged into the tuner card and the end of it plugged into the adaptor and the then the adaptor into the stb tv SCART socket.

With all this done I'm geting a pictures but is pretty bad. Quite fuzzy with faceting and stripy looking. When I use the phono video input it improves but it's still not a patch on simply connecting the cable box straight to the tv via scart.

Could someone tell me why my picture is so poor? Surely it's not supposed to be like this? The resolution I'm using is 1280x720 and I'm running Vista Ultimate. Could it be that the signal from my cable supplier is digital or something?

Any help greatly appreciated.
