I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello. It's the second time when I come here.
First I had this problem - https://forums.techguy.org/threads/my-laptop-wont-boot-from-usb.1173499/
and now it got worse.
I don't know what happened to my Acer Aspire ES 14 (ES1-431-C8JZ). (I haven't dropped it or something like that)
When I turn it on, it stucks on Acer logo screen, and then I can't do anything.
I tried to restart it, same problem.
I tried to enter BIOS, Boot Manager, nothing works.
Then I disassembled it, reset bios, and again, nothing worked.
I made a bootable USB - Slax, I tought Linux could fix this, but it doesn't work. It doesn't boot. I tried to remove the hard drive so I can boot with Slax like this (I've heard about this feature of slax - to boot even without hard drive) but it won't pass the Acer logo.
It would be great if someone can tell me where is the problem or how to fix it. Thank you.

A:Laptop Acer won't load past Acer logo screen

Did you ever solve your previous thread?

It's possible that your hard drive is faulty, and it can't boot into Windows because of that.
I don't have any experience with Linux, so I can't confirm if Slax allows you to boot without a hard drive installed.

Do you have any spare hard drives lying around? If not, consider purchasing a low capacity one, installing Windows on it, and trying to boot then. If it still won't boot, then you didn't spend much money on the hard drive, and it'll narrow down your issue a little more.

Worst case scenario is there's something wrong with your motherboard (as per your other thread involving your USB ports).

hi. i'm just confused about one of the options of the acer erecovery management,
the "restore operating system and retain user data" option. i'm thinking of
using it actually.

my current OS is windows7. originally, my OS was vista. there is also a backup OS for windows vista in my laptop (the one in the hidden partition).

i just want to ask: if i use the "restore operating system and retain user data"
option, will i be able to retain and use my windows7? and not the vista?

thanks... hoping for an immediate reply.

A:acer erecovery management

If your recovery partition has vista and you have win7 now on the system partition, I doubt you'll be able to use the erecovery options at all. Even if they work, they'll restore vista. If you ever want to restore vista, you'll probably need to mark the recovery partition active, then boot to it.

Once you overwrite with another OS, recovery partitions dont really make too much sense. Best strategy is to first backup an image of the current OS, then reinstall the new OS. That gives you a painless way of reverting to the earlier OS.

Hey guys

I want to recover my laptop, an Acer Aspire 8735G. When I bought this laptop I deleted all the mess that comes with it, but I accidently deleted Acer eRecovery too, which is necessary to burn the hidden backup partition to a CD/DVD which is what I wanted to do.

I want to burn the hidden partition on a CD or DVD and then just recover my laptop. The reason that I want to recover my laptop is because I have most files backed up and there's too much mess on my laptop to figure out everything I want to back up.

The mess on my laptop is just too big to find out what I still want to use of it. Anyone has a download to the Acer eRecovery Management application? It's been deleted from the Acer website for some reason. I already downloaded a version of the eRecovery program but the loader said it wasn't compatible with my version of Windows/hardware.

Thanks in advance guys!

Can you do a system recovery then burn your disks? Like hit Alt+F10 while on the bios screen recover windows to factory settings then burn the disks.

I ordered a "Recovery Disc" and a "System Disc" for my "Acer Aspire M1100". The discs loaded correctly (I believe so). The "Acer eRecovery Management" is the problem, it has been loading for 6 hours now. Is this normal ? If not what can I do to fix this issue?

Windows Vista Home Basic
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+ 2.60ghz
3327 MB RAM
32 -bit Operating System

Thank you for any help.

A:Acer eRecovery Management

"Normal" to me means to use a Recovery disk to "recover" the computer's operating system to factory default condition. Is that what you did with the new Recovery disk? If not, what?

What is the System Disc? What does it contain or do?

What are you trying to do with the Acer eRecovery Management? (Whatever you are doing 6 hours does not sound normal.)

I'm not sure if I can ask brand-specific questions, but here goes:
I'm trying to restore my laptop to factory defaults, but it's not working. I have an acer laptop that has Acer Empowering technology, which eRecovery management is a part of. I have done this before, it's really easy, and has always worked until now. It goes through everything normally, password, and prompts. But all it does is restart the computer. (I have already restored the vista software, using acer recovery disks I made previously. I'm just trying to get the software to work. Even on a fresh install, it's malfunctioning.) Any ideas? Please help!

Look for a program called Acer Care Center. It should have the ability to create recovery media and allows for access to the hidden partition for recovery.

Hi everyone. A special hi to those who keep trying to solve problems!
I've got an Acer Aspire 5720z. I've been using it for approximately 3 years. I made a backup using Acer Erecovery. All was going well. But I needed to upgrade my Hard Disk Drive from 80GB to 300GB. I had to transfer all my info to the new HDD. I transferred partly; I made a last backup of C: of my old HDD, then I transferred my Backup File (erData) to the new HDD on which Acer Factory Default Disk was installed. I also restored to factory default on the old HDD while pressing the Alt + F10 on startup. This method of recovery happened only once. Now when I do same function on old HDD, the following appear:
EDIT BOOT OPTIONS

Edit Windows boot options for:Microsoft Windows Vista

Partition:2
Hard Disk: _________ (example:2ad434db)

[ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN

Also when I try to restore the backup (erData file) using acer Erecovery, my laptop just restarts itself without any progress. Neither the restoration of backup nor the restoration to factory default works. The laptop restarts itself without any error message. Only restoration by factory default disks works. I restored with factory default disks to try to repair the problem with Acer eRecovery, the problem is unsolved till now. Any idea what can be done to solve this?
Waiting 4 a response asap. Thx buddies.

If that is what i am reading here , then would a wipe of the hard drive and reformat do the trick, it seems to be confused as to what to boot to.

So, I bought an Acer 5742 with Windows 7 last month, and I have reason to believe I was attacked by a virus.

Losing hope, I try using the 4 recovery disks GeekSquad gave me when I bought the computer.
I choose the option to restore my computer to factory defaults while backing up my personal files.

Everything goes smoothly up until the "updating system" part. According to the time-elapsed, it's been 10 hours since its been frozen on 99% (still on Disc 3 of the 4). I'm going to put in Disc 4 and leave it for another couple hours while I go to school.

If I don't see any changes, I'm going to force a shut down and reboot the computer.

Will this harm my computer, and possibly corrupt my system?

(also, I know it's only been 10 hours, but that's still pretty long for system recovery, don't ya think?)

not really, cant do any more harm than already as clearly not installing

can you not boot to to recovery console? or use the recovery disc to boot to the image that is on your comp instead of , for now, trying a full reinstall

Hello,

I think I should start off by giving my laptop information?
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5630, or as it says on the laptop itself 5633WLMi. It runs on Windows XP Media Center Edition, with an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66GHz.
It's total memory is 512MB.
And my laptop is a grand total nearly of 3 years old. 10/11/2006 was it's release date and 12/06 was when I bought it.

I've been suffering from Blue Screen problems with this laptop for over a year now. It happens whenever I start a new program when perhaps I have too many open. I think this is a memory issue-- my friend told me.
The bluescreening has lessened a lot though when I began fixing registry issues with ccleaner.

Now lately I noticed that my screen's been dimmer.

And now at start up an error appears asking me if I want to debug the ePower application, I press yes and it goes onto say it failed.

I've been looking for a new utility to install so I can reinstall all Acer software without eRecovering-- which I've done twice this year thanks to many problems.

I figured out I could hold FN and press the <- arrow on my keyboard to change the light. However, now that I put my laptop lid down-- it hibernates after a few minutes. This is very annoying since I use my laptop an awful lot, and shutting down whilst I'm doing something becomes an issue.

Is there any way I can solve this? It's becoming annoying and making me want to throw my laptop out of the window!

I have an acer 5315-2122 laptop and i just got internet through comcast. I dont have the wireless router yet(i ordered one its just not here yet so i dont want to do anything that would prevent me from using it later on)
My cable internet modem is online and working just fine. but the enet management keeps flashing connected and not connected and its interferring with how my internet is working. Its really slow and i keep having to refresh when it is "not connected" but works fine when its connected.

It changes back and fourth every minute or so and its really annoying. I'm not sure what i can do to get it to stop.

...someone please help? I dont know a whole lot about computers. just the basics.

A:Acer eNet Management is disconnecting LAN

If the modem is connecting and disconnecting, you have a problem with the modem, interior wiring, or the ISP. I'd start by making sure all the cable connections are secure, and then call Comcast if that doesn't do it. Nothing you do with your computer will cause the modem to disconnect like that.

OK.I am running a Windows 10(upgraded from W8) 64bit on my computer. And I want to install Linux alongside Windows because i want to test it out. And because then I am going to mess with BIOS and other system settings and all those things, I want to make sure i do not erase my windows right off my PC. So I found out (i think), that Acer Recovery Management uses 16GB on a USB stick you need to have the backup on. And I checked that the C:\Windows folder uses exactly 16GB on my disk. Does the Acer Recovery Management copy windows, so if I overwrite windows with linux, or do something so windows doesnt work, will my usb stick with the acer-backup recover windows itself? Just wondering.

A:Acer Recovery Management Question

Noe, Acer Recovery Management does a lot more than just copying the Windows folder. What you really want to do is create a recovery drive and recovery disk. ARM will set things up so you can go back to stock, just as the computer shipped, but Windows Recovery will let you go back to the state it is in now. How much room do you have on the drive? Are you on a laptop, desktop, tablet? Is it setup for BIOS boot or UEFI boot?

I have an Acer Aspire model E360 desktop computer. Using the Acer eRecovery Management program I created a backup DVD disk.

I have been attempting to follow the Acer instructions to then create a backup image of my C partition on the D partition of the hard drive.

I continuously receive a "Too Many Indexes" failure notice only 5 minutes into the backup.

I have disabled the XP "Indexing Service" which was not activated in the first place.

In chatting with a tech for Acer out of India he said to forget the instructions and that you simply cannot back up to the D partition without getting error messages and that you must back up your image to DVDs through the optical drive.

I had at least hoped to back up to an external hard drive but the 2006 version of this program does not allow for anything but backing up to the D partition on the hard drive or to the DVD optical drive.

My questions are:

(1) Is there some way to overcome the "Too many indexes" error message so that I could simply back up an image to my hard drive D partition as Acer intended?

(2) If not, is there a way to back up to an external hard drive perhaps with an updated version of the program?

(3) Or do I simply have to burn 25+ DVDs to make the backup snapshot image of my C drive which has about 90GB?

All of this has come up because I need to reinstall my XP operating system which has become "clogged" with not hard drive format for some four y... Read more

A:Acer eRecovery Management glitch

90GB of data on your C: drive? It certainly is "clogged up"!

If you want to 'start afresh' with a clean installation of XP you need to do a recovery from the backup partition which should be on a hidden partition on your C: drive.

Here is the standard Acer Recovery Instructions:

1. Power on the machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the “Alt” key and press the “F10” key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click “Restore to Factory Default Settings”
4. Click “OK” to continue
5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6. Once eRecovery has run, press “OK” to reboot unit.

IMPORTANT!

Back up all your user files (Documents, Pictures etc) to the D: drive before doing the factory recovery because everything on C: drive will be overwritten with new data!

If you then want to create a backup image on to a hard drive you'll have to use a third-party disk-imaging application as even the current version of Acer eRecovery is unable to do that.

Is anyone familar with how the Acer eRecovery Management system works?

We have a Acer Extensa 5420 laptop with Windows Vista installed. I have created a backup/restore point. I was wondering what the difference between the four options for creating backup disks?
The difference between:
Create factory default disc
Create user backup disc
Create current system configuration backup disc
Create driver and application backup disc

I have read the help section in the eRecovery Management application and a manual I found online but I still don't understand the difference between these options, especially between Create user backup disc and Create current system configuration backup disc.

My goals are to have a full backup of the laptop as it currently is including Windows Vista and all files.

I am still used to older operating systems where you had a disk to reload the OS after a format or if serious problems occured. Am I able to create just a Windows Vista disk? Also, if I am able to create a disk, how do you reload Windows Vista when we don't have any type of code to enter? Second question having to deal with a Windows Vista reload disk is it possible to use this disk if you were to install this on a new hardrive, say for example we upgrade to a larger hardrive on the laptop?

Sorry for all the questions I just have not been able to find any further details on what the backup disc options actually do and have never owned a operating system that didn't have a disk.
Thanks

Do you have Office 2010 installed? If so have you tried uninstalling it?

You can also goto start menu
Type msconfig
This will show you a list of programs that startup and you can disable the office option

Hello there: I have two acer laptops. one is aspire5750g, another is e5-771g.  I  had installed SSD disks on both laptops. now I would like to get the recovery disk image and write it to USB or CDrom.   I searched this website, found I have to use Acer Recovery Management to restore or make a backup. so I am wondering if I can download Acer Recovery Management software and install it manually? or is there another way for me to copy the recovery partition to usb disk and install it via usb ?  Thanks Stephen

Hi Stephen,I would suggest you to use Macrium Reflect Free, it's a very good program for creating recovery disc and creating Backup. You can get used to it by following the tutorials below. It's very user friendly program. http://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v6/user_guide/macrium_reflect_v6_user_guide.pdfhttp://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50074.aspxMany more instructions online.HTH.

Hi - I have an Aspire E5-511 Laptop with Windows 8.1, 64 bit.   Although Acer Recovery Management icon shows in Applications, and brings up the window to permit changes to my computer, after a couple of blue swirls which briefly flash on the screen and disappear nothing further happens!  What is the solution please - I cannot understand why it will not load? I am assuming that when I made the initial recovery USB for this laptop about 7 months ago, it did not automatically include a copy of the drivers?  It's only now when I need to clean my hard drive that I have been looking into this process and discover from one of the videos that there was an option to create a drivers backup. I need to know I have everything backed up and available to reinstate, and that I can rely on the Acer Recovery Management program to be there to do it!   I am very much a novice user and finding all of this very confusing - please help!

as JordanB stated, the USB recovery you created has all, so no need to create a drivers backup. if you want to create another USB recovery media and Acer erecovery is not working, you can use the windows USB media creation tool, it's the same that Acer erecovery use.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-usb-recovery-drive by the way if your HDD is still ok, with all the original partitions, you can reset- reinstall windows without the need of USB media; just press ALT+F10 at boot and this will start the erecovery process.

Would you please verify in the Disk Management Tool if you still have a Partition Recovery on your HDD. If not, that's probably the reason you can't do anything with your Recovery Management.

Hello all,

I've got an Acer Aspire 7552G laptop. And I would like to restore the original Windows 7 OEM version on it but don't have any recovery discs or partitions on my HDD that include recovery programs since I've replaced the HDD.

Is there any way to get the eRecovery management or could someone else maybe sort me out with this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there!
So i have this desktop computer which i built from an old Acer Predator. The only Hardware left from the old pc is the RAM and the HDD though. I recently swapped motherboards ( I now have the MSI z87-g45 ) and yesterday my pc started to prompt me with my windows not being genuine. I tried to reenter my activation code without much luck. I then watched a video on youtube which told me to download some software to fix the problem. Considering the over 500k views and the overall positive comments, i took a chance. Now after ive run the software (Open 7 activator or something) my pc continuisly boots to Acer eRecovery Management. Ive tried to run the complete factory reset, but the program seems to stop and the pc reboots automaticly while it is "Updating System" . Then it boots up again and prompts me to reset my hdd once again. Anyone know how to fix this? Been considering just reinstalling windows, but it would be nice if i could keep atleast the other partion of my hdd. Thanks in advance :=

A:Win7x64 SP1 Boots to Acer eRecovery Management

first of all, you cannot use the operating system that came with acer, that is why it was declared non genuine. when you replaced the motherboard, you should have purchased a new os to be legal and genuine.

Hello guys....
Great forum here, great job.
Unfortunately, my first post is about a problem i am having.
I have this acer Aspire 5942g.
The power management button on the upper right or the program or both (?) does not seem to work.
I have of course launch manager and power management programs installed.
When i press the button, it does light up green, but i have no indication on the screen like i have when i activate wlan or bluetooth.
When the drivers of the powersmart manager are uninstalled the button does not light up green when i press it, so it seems that the drivers partially work.
Also, nothing changes in my power settings nor the screen brightens down, no sign that it works.
Actions i took so far:
I uninstalled and installed both programs, and i run them as admin.
I installed first the launch manager and then the power management and the opposite.
Nothing changed.
I go to c: program files:acer:acer powersmart manager and try to open the right exe file which i think is ePowerMsg but then i get an error message saying that the element ePowerMsg stopped working.
The window is this: http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/7852/16279115.png
Is this the right exe?
I tried with ac only, ac and battery, battery only, same results.
What can i do now?
Please some help...

Welcome to Seven Forums. If you get a stop error I think it's an error code 10, you might want to zip up the minidump file so those members that are really good at reading them might be able to help. At this point my only other suggestion is to contact Acer support and see if they have any ideas. Fabe
