I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It comes and go but it always happens when my sound is on. I have no idea why this started happening or how but I want to get rid of it. It even happens when I have to windows up and nothing is open so I have no idea where it is coming from.

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!
Download OTS.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTS on your desktop.

Close any open browsers.
If your Real protection or Antivirus intervenes with OTS, allow it to run.
Open the OTS folder and double-click on OTS.exe to start the program.
In Additional Scans section put a check in Disabled MS Config Items and EventViewer logs
Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
The program will be scanning huge amounts of data so depending on your system it could take a long time to complete. Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
Save that notepad file
Use the Reply button, scroll down to the attachments section and attach the notepad file here.

NOTE: The only people who can see attachments in the HJT forum are: the thread starter, Admins & Mods, and HJT Helpers & Trainees.

Simply click on the triangle just to the left of the X on the upper right corner of an Ad. Another browser window will open up taking you to Ad choices. The T470 for example has this: The ThinkPad T470 includes Intel® Thunderbolt? 3?the technology that brings lightning-fast Thunderbolt to USB-C at speeds up to 40 Gbps. Connect a cable from your USB-C port to a Thunderbolt 3-enabled device, and get four times the data and twice the video bandwidth of any other port type, while also supplying power. So you get Thunderbolt, USB-C, and DisplayPort. Plus, you can even output to two 4K displays with the Thunderbolt Dock. But the T470 has a 20Gbps Alpine Ridge LP controller. You do not get four times the data -- only two. You don't get twice the video bandwidth -- if this thinks of DisplayPort 1.2 then you get one, if it thinks of 1.3/1.4 then you are getting like 80% or so, actually less than a single port... So what's up with this text?

Hi there *Waves*. Trying to think of how detailed this has to be... Okay, I have a custom made computer, it wasn't made by me or I would probably be able to solve this. I got it in December and it runs genuine windows 7 64-bit, it has warranty but obviously not covering viruses/malware the sort . Anyway, so I have two computers right, my old one runs xp and has never -ever- had this problem. So basically to make life easier, I copied all my documents/most of my programs directly from that computer, so I'm getting really annoyed because you would think with all the copied stuff it would be present on both computers but nooo. So it was about a month after I got my computer (felt like a week or two after, actually), and so suddenly I hear this audio for like Aussie cleaning product ads (sometimes other stuff), you know the exact same type you hear on radio/tv. I noticed that it's running through iexplorer (I use firefox so it wasn't hard to miss), and so shut it and the noise went away. So I'm left going "well this is weird, there was no pop up", and must have jinxed myself because a few weeks later the pop ups began, too. So it is going something like this, turn on comp->open firefox/windows live/iTunes->ad comes up after about five/ten minutes->audio plays after another five minutes, and then I close iexplorer processor through task manager, but if I open something associated with iexplorer it'll do the audio thing again so mostly I... Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the ... Hi all,

Two days ago my netbook was infected with the virus "Anti Malware Doctor". Using the the tools combofix and Malware Bytes I seemed to manage to get rid of it, there are no fake virus warnings and my McAfee is no longer being blocked. Everything seems fine. Except Google.

Whenever I search for something in Google, whichever link I click redirects to other sites, such as AdultFriendFinder. I am an adult, but if I wanted to find friends I would Google that instead of BBC News.

So it seems like I am still infected by someting or other. I downloaded TDSSKiller and when it ran it didn't find anything appart from a suspicious program which I removed.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Calum
P.S. Sorry for the spelling mistake in title, it should read 'advertisements'
EDIT: I have done two recent scans using both MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Malware Bytes found nothing and Super Anti Spyware found about 280 tracking cookies.

The only thing which is not working correctly is the Google search. ( I can access the links if I rightclick and copy the address into the address bar)

A:Google Redirecting to advertisments

And I am also occasionally re directed to a site which tries to redownload the Anti Malware Doctor. So it is obviously somewhere still, but I can't seem to find anything scanning.

Also ComboFix keeps being delted as a trojan. This might be due to a virus or just an over eager virus scanner.

EDIT: I've done something wrong and now my laptop is completely broken. Won't boot. Oh well... I have managed to reinstall Windows. You can close this I guess...

I have downloaded a program called "Trend Mirco HijackThis -v2.0.2" and it says to post the log in a help forum to get an expert to analyze what is wrong with the computer. The following file attached is the log of the analysis. I copied and pasted it from Notepad into mircosoft word 2003.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hello everyone! I thank you in advance for responding
okay It started yesterday that I started hearing advertisements in the background while surfing the web. I thought maybe there was one in a corner of one of the tabs. I checked all the tabs and there were no ads anywhere! I closed all the pages I had open and they are still being played! It's really creepy. I scanned with Malwarebytes, Avg, spybot, and adware to no avail. I just downloaded hijackthis and my logfile looks like this:

IEXPLORER.exe opens up randomly in the background and starts random audio ads/music. The only way of stopping it is ending any IEXPLORER.exe process.

When i ran Gmer I got blue screen of death but going to try again.

A:IEXPLORER.exe audio advertisments

Hi

Try running GMER in safe mode with just the "sections" and the "c:\" drive checked

then run the following:

Please download MBRCheck.exe to your desktop.Be sure to disable your security programs
Double click on the file to run it (Vista and Windows 7 users will have to confirm the UAC prompt)
A window will open on your desktop
if an unknown bootcode is found you will have further options available to you, at this time press N then press Enter twice.
If nothing unusual is found just press Enter
A .txt file named MBRCheck_mm.dd.yy_hh.mm.ss should appear on your desktop.
Please post the contents of that file.

A Malaware Program, I recently deleted by means of 2spyware.com, has installed a large number of viruses on my computer reducing speed, advertising antivirus programs, hijacking my internet explorer, and changing my settings. I've managed to delete everything it's spawned so far but now I have a virus that's been opening new instances of iexplore.exe that run in the background and do not show up on screen, these instances go to a web page of ads that play audio such as: "Imagine a new computer that isn't slow, only it's not a new computer it's Google Chrome" and "Devry university, Do what you've always wanted" and even ads so simple as "Congratulations! you've won!".
These ads will stop in there tracks if i end both the iexplore proceses through taskmanager or mute Internet Explorer through windows vista's mixer function. I have not been able to figure out which process is launching these but i also get constant "Internet explorer has stopped working" and "google installer has stopped working". This virus also has installed Google Chrome Without me knowing, After uninstalling it hasn't appeared again but the "Google installer has stopped working" continues to appear. Please share any knowelage you can provide about this issue. I have done extensive searches on this and came up with nothing. i tried doing scans with both avast! virus scanner and Malawarebytes which says "malaware bytes has stopped working when i... Hello.

I recently downloaded a program, can't remember what it was, but I instantly knew after installing it that something was wrong. It had changed my DNS settings to 85.255.0.0 or something like that and ever since 80% of all Google results have been forwarded to a page loaded with advertisements. I have done a Hijack This scan and removed what seemed to be suspisious entries. I am a novice with Hijack This so here is what is in my log.

I then have to go back and click the link again to go to the correct site. Also, I keep getting "unresponsive script" errors on many pages & internet browsing has been extremely slow.

I've run thorough McAfee & Adaware scan without any results.

Seems I have been infected with a program that continues to spawn IE windows with various advertisments. McAfee reports the resulting pages as a VUNDO issue but never eliminates the source of the problem.

I have been to Microsoft's OneCare center, McAfee and Trendmicro (Tend's process resulted in disabling all other proction in favor of theirs then failed to activate. Additionally, several major programs were adversly impacted resulting in having to reinstall them (programs like Word, HP printer, etc.))

I have performed the 5 steps as advised.

Getting frustrated and more concerned.

Regards.

I recently downloaded a matrix code screensaver here and since then my entire computer has been running slow and it takes forever to open chrome and other icons. Also I get random advertisement popups now(on websites like facebook, google, techspot). I scanned for a virus but came up short :/ and I don't know if it installed any other programs. Any suggestions for a scan or anything?
Edit:
It also installed avg and the avg secure search opens on new tab, I uninstalled it and relaunched chrome and the secure search went away but after another relaunch it persists.

If I understand correctly, one should avoid getting anything from download dot com because it'll infect the computer. If I were you, I'd go here http://www.techspot.com/community/forums/virus-and-malware-removal.28/
& get your pc professionally cleaned.

Hello all,

I am a novice to using forums for help so please bare with me if I do not use the right protocol but I am at my wit's end.  The problem that I am having began approximately 2 weeks ago.  Approximately 10-15 minutes after I start up my desktop pc, random audio starts emitting from my computer speakers.  I cannot tell exactly what the audio is but it sounds like a mixture of some kind of streaming internet radio or streaming internet tv programs mixed with audio advertisments and music.  While I am connected to the internet, there are no other applications displaying in the task manager but I did notice a file running in the processes tab named audiodg.exe.  When I disable this file the audio goes away for a short time but it also disables any audio from other applications that I use such as Skype.  After a short period of time the audiodg.exe file will sometimes reappear in task manager and again I'll experience the random audio from the speakers.  Additionally I have noticed that when this file is engaged and takes a huge amount of resources from the computer and causes things to run extremely slow including during startup.  I'm not sure what other information I should include but I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system and I have included the DDS logs as requested.  Any help you can give will be very much appreciated as my girlfriend lives in China while I am in the US and ... So my laptop had the BSOD about a month ago and my sister and I thought we had fixed it but it happened again about a week ago.The first time it happened, after we got done (thinking we fixed it) we noticed that all our files/documents/pictures had disappeared and that our desktop background could no longer change. we did some research online and found out that our files/documents/pictures had been made into hidden files. so we followed a guide on how to make them visible, but we also noticed that we could not use any of the hidden pictures to change our desktop background. All the files that were once hidden and now have been "shown" have a gray-ed filter over it contrary to any new files/documents/picture we created after the first BSOD. Along with the first BSOD also came advertisements and a TON of them on the internet. google would keep redirecting us to different search engines and sites. sometimes it would even say that "the page was not found" which we obviously knew that couldn't be true since we had just been on there. Advertisments all over kinds of sites that we know would never pay to have a random site in the most random place (for example inbetween facebook comments and such, there would be advertisments) and we know this is unusual because we have another computer in the house that isnt infected and not a single one of these problems have ever shown up. SO we thought to download malwarebytes to just regularly clean up our computer and w... Read more

Hello all, I would like to borrow some of your great knowledge to help me combat my computer problem.
I downloaded a couple of spyware programs. They scanned and indicated that I had some bad files.
For a fee, they would correct. I did not have the money so I erased both. One of them left me a nasty
desktop icon that gives me a nastygram banner every 20 seconds. Can someone help me get rid of it???

A:Bad Banners

I suspect to have been infected with rogue antispyware, which in it's self is malware.
Please post what the name of the software is, and the nastygram states word for word. I have no doubt we will be able to help.

For some reason i cant se any banners...i think the internet explorer desconfigurate somehow...is there anyway i can configurate it again?

A:Can;t see banners

Download WinsockFix and unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Ever notice that no matter where you go there are banners and ads everywhere...and I believe that they are at the root cause of malware and spyware development. I'm sik of bannars and ads. The day a mcdonalds add appears below the mound is the day I stop watchin ball. Hockey is already ruined. Well hockeys another issue...its actually a twice baked potatoe now...and I wouldnt watch it if some one paid me. But a few years back at least the Ice was clear of adds...boards to for most part. Look at a hockey rink now...well last years pics...mcdonalds and beer ads all over the ice.

Anyway...can I make my computer block bannars? Can it be done??? When I wuz a college boy I knew a kid that had linux setup so he never got bannars. But can this be done on windows? Thanks. -joe

I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction.

I dont have the normal ads and banners appear on some sites in vista. I know its a security thing, but I feel like some websites are incomplete.

My example is www.nme.com. If you see the ads on the right hand colum and on the top, well i receive them on my xp machine, but on my vista laptop they are just white blank.

Is there a setting I need to switch on? I dont think I have flash installed either.

A:No Banners / Ads

Go to Adobe link http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/do..._getflashplayerAlso in IE under tools go to>internet options>advanced>under multimedia see if show pictures is ticked.

Hello everybody.

I hate banner ads as much as the next guy, but when I see banner ads that have the address "ad.doubleclick.net" or something like that, they do not display.

They will just say Action Canceled.

I have attached a screenshot from the TSG homepage, and you will see the banners are not displaying.

Any ideas on why this might be happening?

Thanks

-Mark

P.S. It doesn't happen on some websites...

How do I stop advertising banners from coming onto sites that I'm visiting.

A:Stopping banners

If the adds are appearing on the site then you cannot stop them, but if they are popping up in new windows you may be infected with adware.

Run this program and post the log.

Click on this link to download : ADWCleaner Click on the Download Now button and save it to your desktop.

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Tools > Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close your browser and double click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Scan button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to run, it may take several minutes to complete, when it is done click on the Clean button, accept any prompts that appear and allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report, Copy & Paste it into your next post.
