Preferred Solution: Windows cannot install required files. Error code: 0x80070570

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Windows cannot install required files. Error code: 0x80070570

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup, reset to defaults, save changes. (If an EFI BIOS you'll need to decide if you want UEFI BIOS vs. Legacy BIOS. If UEFI follow these special steps for Install, otherwise enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module to proceed with normal install.) Set DVD drive first to boot, HD second, set SATA controller to AHCI, Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into Windows 7 installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here. Your installer is questionable so if it fails after one more attempt, try another ISO burned with tool in link, then try flash stick method.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10, or enter System Recovery Options to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT
EXIT

Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

After install you can adjust partition size or Create new partitions for data, etc. in Disk Mgmt. You are creating the partition here for the purpose of wiping the HD and marking Active which overcomes certain install failures.

I do a clean install. Delete all the partitions, make a new one, format. Then "Copying files" takes approx 1 second. Then it does to "Expand" and gives me the error.Exact message:"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570"

A:Error at "Expanding Files": Windows cannot install required files. 0x80070570

I resolved the problem I had. It appeared to be a memory chip. I do not know whether it is a bad chip or just a compatibility issue.I had 2.5GB of RAM: 1GB 800Mhz and the rest 512MB 688Mhz. I took out the 1GB and the install went through fine. Windows 7 is running just fine with 1.5GB of RAM on a 2.8Ghz Pentium D.

Hi,

Hope someone can help me with this issue.

I am trying to install Windows 8 64 Bit on a HP 2530p laptop using a USB Flash Drive that I set up with DiskPart and copied OS files to - from DVD disc.
I first tried to install using a DVD disc in a external DVD RW I plugged into USB port of laptop - this laptop has no built-in optical drive.
I got the same error code with DVD disc that I get with USB Flash drive.
I formatted HD during beginning of install so there is no OS on laptop...

Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570.

I ran a MemTest86 and did a HD Test from BIOS and both passed.

Any thoughts?

Thank you all

I would rebuild your USB install drive, you might have ended up with some corrupted files. Was this computer shipped with Win 8? if not then you'll need to set up your USB to boot UEFI, IE is has to be formatted fat 32, then on boot up hit which ever key on your computer that brings up a boot menu select you UEFI USB drive
UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows
Upgrade Install to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1

However I would use RUFUS to create your install USB thumb drive

I am trying to install Windows 7 32-bit RC on a desktop PC. I have previously used this disk successfully to install the OS on a laptop.

I keep getting an error message to the effect thatWindows cannot install required files.
...
Error code: 0x80070570Initially I thought that this was due to a flaky DVD drive but I have now installed a different drive and am still getting the same message. I also tried a SATA DVD drive but it seems that the Windows 7 installation process didn't like (have drivers for) this interface

edit:I have previosuly managed to load Windows 7 64-bit RC on this PC but had some problems with stability so thought I would give the 32-bit version a go.

I notice that some people have got around this problem by burning the DVD at slow speeds and by using a USB drive to boot from; since I have successfully installed using this DVD, the former doesn't seem relevant and I don't have an 8GB USB drive available. I will try running MemTest86+ on the system on the off-chance.Any explanations / other suggestions . . . please . . . ?

ps - I have just downloaded a new copy of Windows 7 32-bit RC, burned it at 1x and have got the same unhelpful error message

The thing that is interesting to me is that I then tried to do a clean install using a vista disk that I have, and I get a similar message.

However I am able to install Xp pro just fine. I've also tried switching out memory as well.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is what is happening. A friend gave me his DELL Inspririon 531 2007 Desktop. It has a pirated copy of 7 ultimate x64 (which I am not sure if this supports 64 bit). Prior to looking into how old the machine was, I was able to install 8.1 64 bit. But it wouldn't allow me to install any drivers from the DELL site. Said that the machine wasn't compatible. So, I tried with Windows 7 32 bit and I am getting this error. I have deleted all partitions, but now, I do not have that option when I choose Custom-advanced. There is no Delete option.

A few times I got the error at 5% other times at over 60%. What can I do to get this to install? It is a legit DVD of windows. Why would it have allowed 8.1 to successfully install now it is doing this? What files are missing? I have tried both deleting the partitions and not deleting. Same result.

I bought a new SSD and want to do a clean install on it, however am having problems during the install process and receive the following message:

Windows 8 cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007025d
The install images was downloaded from the Microsoft website and I have tried using a USB thumb drive and DVD install disc and both receive the same error. I have used the DVD disc when I originally installed Windows 8 Pro on the same desktop but on an IDE harddrive and believe the disc should still work (i.e. no scratches on it).

Here's how I prepared to install:

1. Unplugged all harddrives except for brand new SSD (Crucial M4 128 GB SSD)
2. Changed bios settings to AHCI (before was on IDE) (using Asus P5k-V motherboard)

I'm not sure what's going on if the harddrive is corrupt, the bios settings need to be tweaked, the drive is incompatible with my motherboard or something else.

Any help would be much appreciated as I don't want to go back to using the IDE drive to boot windows but rather use the new SSD.

TIA

Try another flash stick or DVD using the ISO and tool to burn to disk/stick in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which steps will assure you get and keep a perfect install. Since Acer Recovery will not run after a Clean Reinstall to C, delete all partitions during the booted install.

If this fails work through these steps for Overcoming Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums reporting back any failure by when it happened and any error or other behavior.

If these fail test your hard drive using the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, followed by another Disk Check run from installer's Command Line on the full disk partition you created.

Hey guys!

I have a new ASUS ROG G751JT-DH72 laptop, and I have been trying to install Windows 10 and Ubuntu on it. It came with Windows 8.1, so I upgraded to 10, then did a clean install of 10. Version was Home 64 bit.

That went reasonably well: only thing after the clean re-install was that on boot, the screen did nothing but flash on and off. I found out that I could get it unstuck by mashing F12, and that disabling fast boot fixes the problem permanently. My cleanly installed fresh Windows 10 worked perfectly.

I then installed Ubuntu 15.04 in the small space that I had left for it on the SSD, and gave it the whole 1 TB drive for my "home" folder.

Afterwards, Windows was gone. Mind you, the bootloader still showed up in the Grub menu, but when I tried to launch it, it told me something was wrong and I had to recover it. I tried, but couldn't: bootrec /scanos told me it found no Windows installations.

So I figured: second attempt! I rebooted using the Windows 10 DVD, and during parititioning nuked everything and created new partitions from scratch.

About 90% through the "Getting files ready" part, it failed. Error:

"Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007025D"

I see some people here had the same thing, but not on laptops as far as I can tell. Anybody out there who has any idea how to fix this? I tried:

As I have just posted on another thread put the iso back in utorrent and force a recheck. The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago and it turned out the iso was not complete. If it is complete try burning at slower speed.

I'm new guys so bear with me.

Just built a new rig, specs are in my bio but long story short I'm trying to install w7 fresh onto a sshd from a usb. When it gets to 15% during expanding windows files it gives me the error code 0x80070570. so here's what I've done: ensured sata settings are set to ahci, used different ram in different slots on mobo, format hd in cmd with diskpart, made sure ram settings good in uefi, redownloaded Iso file and reran program to make usb drive bootable. Currently I'm using the clean all command in disk part and then going to try and partition the drive. Should I be partitioning for the ssd? Is there something else I'm missing with the hybrid drive? I've been working at this for about 2 days and could use some help. Thanks in advance

I have installed Win 8.1 in some different way than normal. I have sysprepped Win 8.1 in VMware and then saved a image using Clonezilla. When I installed/copied this image to a new computer I removed admin account - before that I have created another admin account with another name. I have RAID array which is my D: partition and when I tried to download file using utorrent it gave me - error the disk is unreadable or corrupted. If i try to copy one file in D: it gives also same error with code 0x80070570.

For the last few days, the system BackUp on my external hard drive is getting failed with error code 0x80070570 after completing nearly 95%. The backup consists of system images and other folders that windows automatically choose. Even when trying to run backup without the system images, the backup fails. As per my findings, the 'AppData folder' in additional locations is creating the problem as removing it from backup settings does solve the problem. But this problem didn't exist a few days ago and while letting windows choose what to backup, brings back the problem. How to fix it?

Hi everyone

I've built a brand new PC and decided that I would like to install windows 7 64 bit on my SSD, I got a disk+key from my university before christmas so that'd i'd be ready once i'd built it.

I built the PC yesterday and realised that I'd left my external DVD drive at my university accommodation, I'm at my parents house for christmas break so that's a few weeks left. I can't really wait that long so I used my parents laptop (which I'm posting from now) to turn the disk into an .iso and use the microsoft USB utility to make a USB stick that i could install from.

However when I tried the install gets to 'installing features' and gives 'windows cannot install required files' error code 0x80070570 I looked the code up on google which sent me to a lot of threads here, so far I've tried:

Taking all but 1 stick of ram out and the graphics card.
Reseting the bios to default
Installing again without rebooting after error.
using cmd to select the right partition

Nothing has worked, please help me I'm losing my mind

Hi,

Just to clarify, are you having trouble getting the ISO onto the USB drive? Im not sure whether that is your issue, or the installation from the USB. What size is the USB drive?

Can you have a look at this tutorial?

I am getting the error code 0x80070570 Everytime I try and install Windows 7. I am trying to do a custom install so it cleans out the computer. I have Windows 7 Pro OEM 32bit. I have the requirements it takes to put Windows 7 on a computer. I have tried two different discs same results. System is custom built, with Gigabit GA-H55M-S2H motherboar, Intel core i3, 4gb Memory, 500gb hdd. It gets past the part of coping files and then comes up with the Error code of 0X80070570. I have tried to install several times using two different discs and allways the same result.

Hi everyone. First post here because I?m getting really frustrated with this error message. Error code: 0x80070570. I?ve tried searching around on the internet for a fix but I?m not coming up with a lot that pertains to my situation. I am clean installing a copy of Windows 7 professional x86 on an HP DV6700 laptop. This is an actual release copy obtained through Microsoft store front download. Everything works great when booting from the DVD until it starts expanding files. It has gotten as far as 49% before giving the error. Always seems to be a random number, I?ve tried probably 4 times.
I am positive that the disc is not corrupt because I installed Windows 7 without any problems using the same disc on my desktop. I have deleted every partition on the HP except for the recovery partition it comes preinstalled with. My next option is to delete this too but I would rather not. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this issue?
I also have another semi-related issue that I would love input on if anyone has any idea. After Windows 7 was unsuccessful I attempted to recover Windows Vista using the recovery partition. Everything installed fine until it tried to reboot. Now I get an error message ?Missing boot manager? and only an option to restart the computer. I?m afraid this is going to happen even if I get windows 7 to install so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Been getting this error for the past few days. I have tried just about every recommendation I've seen on this error; Ive gone through 8 sticks of RAM, multiple ISO's and burns, USB install, different DVD drives, removing all extra USB devices, 2 video cards, multiple HDD's, canceling the install before it errors out and then restarting, all without luck. Anybody have any other ideas? Using a Maximus IV Extreme Z, no overclock.

Use 2gb of RAM for install. Test your RAM using memtest86 for 5-6 passes or overnight. Then when known good, test good stick in all slots to test slots: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Where did you get the ISO? Try slow burning DVD at 4x speed with ImgBurn once you confirm the ISO hash against official Win7 HASH: Windows 7 RTM SHA-1 hash - checksums.
Win7 SP1 hashes are on TechNet Download page under details for each download and accessible even if not subscriber.

Next try writing ISO to flash using this simple tool with Win7 in dropdown: Universal USB Installer – Easy as 1 2 3 | USB Pen Drive Linux

Next check for BIOS update for mobo. If none, reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS.
While in BIOS setup set SATA controller to AHCI to try install.

Next try wiping the HD for possible boot corruption: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

As a last resort, move HD to another computer to install. SysPrep install before moving back to problem computer: SysPrep to move HD to another computer

Greetings,

I have been using Windows Deployment services for sometime now so the environment is not new to me. For some reason every new WIM that I build now, when I try to apply it using WDS I get this error.

My Capture Process
Install A Clean Version of Windows
Configure system how I want it
sysprep into audit mode to remove user account that I built during setup
sysprep OOBE and shutdown
Run Imagex.exe /capture c: c:\imagename.wim "My Image Name" /compress fast /verify

I get the capture with no errors and upload to my WDS.

This error used to never be a problem but I am getting it all the time now.

Any idea how to fix?

Whenever I try to install windows I get an error saying, Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x080070001. I know there is nothing wrong with the iso I burned because I have used it to install Windows 7 on my laptop. Oh and if it helps I had Windows 7 on this computer before but my explorer.exe messed up and now it won't let me reinstall Windows. Anyone know what I can do to fix my Windows not installing?

One day I just couldn't delete or move most files off of my computer. At first I thought it was just files on my desktop, but I found out tonight its also files in my documents folder. And its not all files, just some....

I get this message:

***********************************************
An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem:

Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable
***********************************************

I tried searching through many forums and this error code is also associated with some kind of DVD error or backup error...none of which applies to me. I simply want to put a word document, powerpoint document, JPEG into the trash.

In the replies to the DVD error or backup error people were talking about ownership blah blah blah....if the solution to this problem also requires some kind of ownership deal....would you mind explaining things step by step? I have no idea what that means.

Thanks!

Have you tried downloading something like "Eraser"

to see whether that works?

I'm trying to clean up an external drive by deleting various files (using Windows Explorer) but like every file gives me "an unexpected error is keeping you from deleting the file error 0x80070570".

Now for some reason I can delete the files using del in the command prompt.

But I need to delete hundreds of specific files scattered around, so I need to figure out how to get around this error.

I don't want to chkdsk etc on the external either. I just want to bypass the error.

Hi,

I'm experiencing a strange problem when installing Windows 7. At the file expansion stage, error code 0x80070570 appears and my installation fails.
Funny thing is, I installed 7048 from a DVD burned image 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. Downloaded 7057 and durned the .iso to DVD and when trying to install to formatted partition this error appeared. Since then I can't re-install 7048 either!
This is driving me crazy, I've tried different DVD drives, re-burned the .iso's at slow speed, but no luck.
Anyone managed to resolve this problem?
BTW, I am installing x64 versions...
Thanks

Make sure you take your computer CPU and memory overclocks back to original specs. I can install by x86 without any problems but always have to take off my overclocks when I install or upgrade my x64 versions.

I do PC repair for low-income people in our neighborhood, and I was brought a Dell Inspiron 1520 running 32-bit Vista.

It wouldn't boot, even with safe mode, and when I booted from a disk no OS displayed.

I ran a utility that scans for and 'fixes' bad sectors (I assume that it merely makes them unwritable). There were 17 bad sectors that could not be fixed. I used another utility and ran a low-level format.

Hours later I used a Dell Vista CD and attempted to install Windows. Some time before it hit 100% on step 2 (Expanding Files) it gave me the 0x80070570 error. I know there's nothing wrong with the disk, but I tried it again and got the same results. Then I tried an install using a MS Windows CD, which did prompt me for the product key, but when it got to the Expanding Files step it just styed there at 0%. For hours...

Is the drive just too far gone to sustain the OS? I thought that if you did a low-level format it rendered the bad sectors as unusable, but this is a 120GB drive. They really can't afford a new HD. Shouldn't I be able to install and run Vista on the 100 plus gigabytes that are uncorrupted?

I'm having the same issue and hoped I could chime in. Since I've wiped my drive I've gotten a similar error as above. I've tried loading the drivers AFTER the error. Should I wipe the drive, do the install and try to install the drivers during?

Also how do I find out my system specs with no OS?
