Data Recovery for our Church computer

Q: Data Recovery for our Church computer

Greetings

My problem is this, I am a student at Heald college working on my Network Systems Admin degree. The Church I attend doesn't have a full time IT guy, just one of the guys who more like a hobbiest. The problem is, that their main computer stopped booting into XP. Once it got to splash screen it would freeze up, even in safemode. They called me, because I have helped some of the single moms at church upgrade their computers.

I find out the partition table is either corrupt or data is damaged, my best guess. So I take the drive, hook it to my own, move over all the important file and burn to DVD, so I thought. Take it back and do a reinstall hoping to get it up and running. That really didn't work. In the All users folders there are two folders I can't get access to Financial and the Teresa, Access Denied. Thinking I had everthing on DVD backed up I just format the HDD and do fresh install. The guy who set up their network finishes up. two days later Oct 2 I get a call saying those two folder are not on the DVD Financial and Teresa and they contain all of the church's financial info.

Is it possible to recover that DATA that was formatted over or are they basically screwed? I will be there tonight trying to use a recovery program, but I really could use use some serious help.

Sorry for the long post, wanted to make sure that you had the full story.

Preferred Solution: Data Recovery for our Church computer

I recommend downloading and running DRP. It's a recovery tool that has been proven to recover files that most other programs have no luck with. I've even recovered files from freshly formatted or partitioned drives.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/v51TwD. (This link will automatically start a download of DRP that you can save to your computer.)

A: Data Recovery for our Church computer

yeah you can. go and download Get Data Back for NTFS/FAT32 depending on the file system. I formated my harddrive a while back and forgot to move some stuff off of it. It recovered it all. The only problem with that program is you have to licence it to save the files again. Otherwise i believe its the best available for download. Get it here

Just went there, they got some other cool stuff... :grinthumb

OK I have a church computer that we use in our main sanctuary. We have two projectors hooked up to the computer and therefore we need to keep all of the data on the hard drive as we would need new drivers for them which we would not want to get!

But here is the problem....we want to upgrade that computer with a newer one while still being able to use the p[rojectors and any other files we have on it...I thought it would be as simple as just taking off the SATA hard drive and installing it in our new computer...but my friend that knows computers says that the OS which is windows vista...is tied to the motherboard and CPU...and he said if we take it out and simply put it in another computer...it will not work because everything will be different! The motherboard, RAM , CPU...etc. But the hard drive has drivers on it that make the computer we have work with the projectors in the church and I am not sure where to download those or even what proigram they use. You see, the guy that put all this stuff on there originally now no longer goes to that church.

So is there anyway we can keep the programs and files and either reformat theat hard drive or get a new one and put vista back on it?

What is the simplest and easiest program to use for beginners?

A:Help with church computer.....

The OEM windows license says that the windows is just for that motherboard, which is why usually if you put the drive in a new computer it won't work (activate).

I would just buy the new computer, and try to get the projectors to work with it. In my experience projectors barely need drivers at all, so I doubt it's going to be a problem. I'm guessing you will hook up the projectors to the new machine (presumably windows 7 or 8) and they will just work automatically. Then, manually copy over whatever files you need. You can't copy the programs over, they have to be installed again fresh either from the original cd's, or, in this day and age most programs are free downloads for most of the things you need to do, with the only exception in your case possibly being Microsoft Powerpoint? (I don't know what programs you use, but that's my guess.) For paid software you either need the original install discs or you have to buy it again.

On our Church computer the other day we where playing a video
and it just quit. Shutdown completely. Tried to reboot the system
and nothing was powered on. I tested the PSU and it tested bad.
I than replaced the PSU. When I powered it back up. The lights came back
on inside the case but nothing on the screen. I than unplugged the power cord,
removed the battery and switched the CMOS to clear it. I put everything back
together an still nothing. I replaced the video card with a
known good one and still nothing. The post code display shows code 8.3 and than
9.0 and stops. I checked to see if any of the capacitors are expanded and don't see
any. I put the hard drive in another computer and found that the file that held
the data to the videos we was using was gone also.

The motherboard is a Fatal1ty AN8SLI.
Operating system is Windows XP Home.
Any help I sure would be greatful.

A:Solved: Might have bad motherboard in Church Computer

If your Hard Drive is still in good condition ... you should able to get back the data ... I think is just partitation corrupte...... Put the Hard drive in other system and download Crystal Disk Info http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html to see the HD condition first..

If nothing is see in the HD ... Don't try to put anything on top otherwise the hidden data may gone..
Then use Easeus Partition Recovery http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partition-Recovery/3000-2248_4-75279786.html?tag=mncol;4

See wheather it can find the missing partitation..

For the system try just connect PS to MB with CPU and RAM .. see whather it can boot up
Your Motherboard is from ABit
here is teh display code..

Because the machine is used infrequently, there's not a lot of chance to see it misbehave very often. This was a first after about 8 weeks of reliable service (90 minutes each Sunday). The BSOD occurred during a very conventional Powerpoint presentation.

I left it on all day yesterday and today, and it didn't repeat the performance. However, it wasn't in use so that's not a complete surprise.

The DVI is used for a local monitoring monitor, and the VGA is used for the projectors (through a repeater).

The only change since last week was the addition of a SPDIF fiber running to an external DAC, with default audio out switched to that from the former default analog port.

Any ideas? Thanks.

We have a PC at church that is running Windows Vista Basic and Outlook 2003.  Recently we had to shutdown the email account associated with this computer because it was sending spam.  After disabling the email account the spam stopped - but I am not sure (yet) if the computer is infected and sending email or if the smtp port on the mail server was exploited - using userid and password.  So I am eliminating the possibilities.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version F2) dates from 2015.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).Although you appear to have a reasonable number of Windows Update hotfixes for this version of your OS, please double check for any new Windows Updates.  It only takes one update to cause a problem, so it's essential that you have all of them.  The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating. You have a Realtek RTL8188CU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter:I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 and later systems - using older drivers with them is almost certain to cause a BSOD.Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have the latest W7/8/8.1/10 drivers - DO NOT use older drivers!!!An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.NOTE:  I haven't seen as many problems with these devices in W8/10 as I did in WVista/7. ... Introduction
My niece apparently fell victim to a fake AV program on March 28, since the that's the date her calendar was stuck on and all directory entries end on that date. I believe that she then was hoodwinked into using the fake data recovery program. Unfortunately, she failed to mention the problem until this Monday, so I'm way behind on trying to fix it. I managed to clear up a few things by using Ad-aware, Spybot S&D and Housecall before running HijackThis. All of those programs were utilized by downloading them onto a DVD onto my laptop and running them from the DVD, which then was completely wiped clean by her computer. While I haven't yet tried this procedure to run the other programs listed in Read This First, I have a preliminary question:
As I shut down her computer for the last time, I noted that her D: directory is called "Data" and is almost full, apparently with gaming stuff. Do I need to do a separate repeat of all the programs on that drive?

Thanks for any answer you could provide to the above question while I'm downloading and, I hope, running the other programs.

So, this is a long one.

Grandma has two HDDs, one with a win10 install (Borked, long story.) and one with a win7 install. We took the computer to Geek Squad as the win7 instance was BSODing with an error that I couldn't figure out. Sounds great, right? They couldn't figure it out either, so we took the box back home, hooked it up, and...it boots into Geek Squad's analysis software. Okay then. Turns out, they left their disk in the DVD drive of the box by accident. I decided to run a SMART scan, which turned up 500 bad sectors on the win10 disk, and ~5-10 on the win7 disk. <PanicTime> So, 2 new HDDs ordered, and professional data recovery slated for the win10 instance, but in the meantime, I used ddrescue to transfer all the data from the win7 drive to a new drive. However, when I put this new drive in the box and booted, it did not go into win7, a BSOD, or even a windows recovery screen. It merely sat blinking a "_". I tried using a win7 install disk in recovery mode, but for some reason that says that there is no OS on the new win7 drive, and when I tried using Advanced System Options to get into recovery/repair mode, that option was not on the list. What can I do to hopefully fix this win7 instance? Even getting it back to the partially booting then BSODing state that we took it to Geek Squad in would be fine at this point. Thank you in advance for your help! :D

The computer I have been using for 4 1/2 years (an E-Machines running XP) has finally died. Not sure what happened, but I can't even get it to turn on. It's as dead as dead can be.

Being the not-so-bright computer guy that I am, I haven't done a back-up in ages, and I have a lot of valuable info/files/music on the hard drive. My brother had said that I can "store" my files on his computer until I get a new one.

One problem; I can't get anything off the hard drive if it doesn't come on, right? Or is there a way of pulling info off the HD even when a computer is powered down, so to speak?

Any info, links, suggestions, and/or whatever elese would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

I have 2 problems, mine is recovering data from a DVD-R & a friend is looking for my help in recovering data from a "corrupted" Flash Drive.

I was burning data on a DVD-R multiple sessions disk when my Burner crapped out while using Nero. I now have a new Burner & when I go back into this disk I can only read data from my 1st session when I compare the #s from Nero's disk info tool, however it also shows that session 5 is still open?? but I cannot read anything from sessions 2, 3 & 4. Looking around I spotted CD Recovery Tool Box Free 1.1.7 is there anything more recent and or better that would let me try to recover the data on this disk. The data in session 5 is still on my HD but I would like to be able to recover the data in the other sessions, worst possible case even just the file names would be a small plus.

Now for the Flash Drive. It is a Lexar 8 Gig & what supposedly happened is that Peter lent it to a fellow employee so he could extract some data (probably a mistake). When he got it back a few minutes later & tried to use it all he got was a message that it was corrupted. As it has all of his product codes, phone numbers & personal sales data for the last year he is really desperate to try & recover the data. He does not have a computer of his own, so he has no backup (another bad idea). He has gotten a new Flash Drive a Sony 8 Gig, but I have told him that he better go out & get a 2nd one to use as a back... Read more

This time im stuck.. Becouse the disk i try to recover includes 870 gb (about) used disk space (only audio files) only 50gb (about) empty space... Thats too big for me to recover to other disks.. i don't have enough spaces that my other disks can handle..

I have about 300 gb FREE disk space in several disks or partitions include My thinkpad SL510 Notebook..

So my question is
wit keeping my lost data in corrupted disk first, can i take them slowly to this 300 gb spaces (i know i can) and after create somehow emty space (deleting those recovered 300 gb + 50 on corrupted disk) and
use that empty space for more recovery. ???? Or smilar solutions.. Becouse DISC PRICES IS HEAVY nowadays and really i'm out of budget with buying some

hi
i have a scSi disk 36.4GB, i lost information from it and tried to recover with other recovery softwares to no avail finally i got winhex & got the professional licence.

i can now be able to see all the information on the 1 whole NTFS partition, but the problem is that i can't be able to recover it.
when ever i open the logical drive i can see all the information and most of the information is stack up in a "free space" which is around 33gb which i can be able to see has all the information that i need.
i have tried to recover the free space but its only copied to the location that i specify and no recoveries are made.
recovering the files by type/ name has bore no fruits.

a freind told me i have to curve out that area and use data extractors to get the information out of that area (freee space).

the information in that drive are sql data bases and zip files. whats the header for sql.

what techniques do i use to curve out that space and be abele to extract the information, for i can even read the information in text format.

which are the data extractors available in the market

I don't know where this thread properly belongs -- but I suspect the question may be too esoteric for most here.

Since it involves data recovery from a hard drive I'm going to move it to Hardware, I think "all other software" is not likely to have anyone with this type of experience.

Dear Friends.
Hope this finds you well!
I'm not certain this is in the best forum, but it is a Windows 7 computer
I was trying to do another sets of DVD's from existing MP4 files from a SanDisk Ultra 32GB card. These would then be used with DVD Flick and ImgBurn to make the DVD's. The first(2) DVD's worked well but somehow a few of the files were not copied entirely. So, I was redoing these again to make certain I had ALL the files for the next (2) DVD's.
These are files my older brother entrusted to me for me to convert them to a DVD format. They are files of his daughters nearly entire basketball season [frames] of about 70 files and were sentimental to him and his daughter.
I feel personally responsible to correct this if it is at all possible!? It could get ugly
It was an honest error on my part as I mistakenly deleted what was titled Video 100 on the SanDisk which contained all these MP4 files. I didn't realize I was removing them from the SanDisk. I'm hoping there is a free date recovery app I could use for this one application so that an expensive license would not be required!?
Thank You in advance for your care, compassion and cooperation. I'm stuck in the mud...

A:Minitool Power Data Recovery or Runtime Get Data Back, which

Hi

Both are good programs and i would recommend purchasing both ( if you can afford ). Both has it's own pros and cons.
"GetDataBack" is good at virtual reconstruction of damage/unrecognizable file systems but i personally found it weak at recovering image files. It recovers images but most of them seems to be corrupted in my testings. Also you need to purchase seperate versions for FAT and NTFS ( GetDataBack simple is garbage ).

On the other hand, "Power data Recovery" works with both FAT and NTFS and it is better at recovering image files. Another proven tools is "R-Studio" which has quiet good reputation among DR professionals. It's user interface is not newbie friendly but has lot's of options which no other tools offers.

At first the System Restore (on the first screen) and Partial Recovery (on the second screen) options were greyed out, and then System Restore randomly became available, so I tried that, got an error message, clicked "OK" the first time and closed it the second time and both times it restarted. Then Partial Recovery was suddenly available.

So I went ahead with that and when it came to the screen where it asked me what user I wanted to retain the only option was "No Profile". Thinking that my data would still be in the place the instructions said it would be (C:\documents and settings\[Chosen user name]) I went ahead with "No Profile". The recovery ran and the computer restarted, and Windows started up again as if it was the first time I'd ran the computer. So I created the two user accounts that had previously existed and then logged in with mine. A... Read more

clarification - does your documents and settings folder only shows your new accounts?

do you have two window folders? Try a windows search for your old profile folder and see what it comes up with.

I have a 300gb Maxtor Drive partitioned into 4 drives...the OS on the hd was Windows Vista...While i was reinstalling XP i accidently formatted the whole drive because it didnt show the rest of the partitions on the screen...by the time i realized what i just did it was already 5% formatted...so i decided to stop it by turning off my computer...

i was wondering if the data (music, files, pictures, etc etc) is still recoverable...if so, what are the necessary steps that i should take to recover it...my friend sent me OnTrack 6.3 EasyRecovery Pro and i went out and bought Search and Recover 4...should i do a clean format on the drive and then run a data recovery software or should i run the software with the drive being 5% formatted...

Hi,

I have been using a Kingston 1gb data traveler to store work however as I was saving my word document to go home Word 2007 crashed and restarted itself, it did not however bring up any autorecover options. I therefore thought everything was ok and pulled out the USB. When I tried to plug this in again it says 'USB device not recognized' This device may have malfunctioned etc. It then proceeds to install the USB as an unknown device and appear like this in the device manager.

I desperately need to recover this data, I was designing a website and had 25 pages of text on the USB stick.

What I've Tried

Plugging the USB in another machine. This bought up exactly the same error

Downloading a Data Doctor Recovery Pen Drive tool. This however did not recognise a USB as being in the system and thus did not work.

Is there anything I can do to rescue this data?

P.s. I use Vista 32-bit Business.

Hiya... I managed to lose one of my HDD's with all my multimedia on it and have been trying unsuccessfully to regain it with PCINSPECTOR.The HDD ISNT where my windows is installed and has become corrupted; something happened with the partition and it went kablooey. The problem i seem to be having with PCINSPECTOR is that it comes up with; for example "Cluster386.MP3" and it doesn't work. Is it something wrong with how im using PCI or something like that. I scan for drives...Choose "NONAME on FIXED DISK 2", scan for logical drives... and withing the first ten seconds it comes up with two partitions... Choosing the second one i get these files and the first one nothing. Scanning them for FAT. So basically am i using "PCI FR" properly am i doing something wrong and/or, is there a cheap, better alternative with results?Patch.Sorry guys bt i managed to fix this with the use of a different program... Awesome program I'm gonna plug it now "R Studio," well worth the investment... My Multimedia was worth the $80 odd...

I have had this problem many times before, when i hook up xbox and play xbox live our internet connection gets messed up and doesnt work. I set a restore point before i played the last time and when the internet stopped working i restored it to the point and it started working again on our main computer where the router is, but my computer in my room which is wireless is not working anymore. I formatted my hard drive on that computer hoping that it would fix the problem but it didnt. I have tried to get it working and have had no luck. The connection says that it is good but the internet does not work at all. It says "Cannot Find Server" when i try to get on internet explorer. The main computer is sending information but mine is not receiving the info.

Help me please

Hi,

I have a larged data drive that failed a disk check. It stalls when starting stage two (I belive that is the verification of indexing). I have been able to back-up all of the folders except for a large folder of raw video. The PC locks up when I attempt to access/copy this folder (it appears to be part of the problem). I want to make an attempt to recover this data before reformatting the drive.

The check disk fails both at start up or if I run from the desktop both in regular and safe mode. Does anyone have tips for recoverying this data?

A:Data Recovery of data drive

You could try using a 98 boot disk and then run ntfsdos from there to access the ntfs partitions. Then try an xcopy of that file to another drive.

Another method could be to use Winrar to create a multipart archive and store it on another drive. This might chunk it up enuff.

Or boot to recovery console from the CD and then run chkdsk /r which marks any sectors that are corrupt as bad so they will not be used again, even after format. All take some time, but they are readily availalble fixes.

Alternatively, you could create an image of the drive and save that somewhere else, then run your drive manufacturers disk utility to check integrity of the disk.

Hope this helps

Hi all, i am requesting some technical assitance in solving this issue.

i have a hard disk that has been recently affected by [email protected] virus and all the .doc and xls files have been reduced to 1kb irispective of their initial sizes and when you open the files you get this error; DATA Error [47 0F 94 93 F4 K5]

I would like to recover the affected files to their original state, i have searched the internet over and no one seems to have the solution documented

currently i am trying to download QuickView Plus (Version 8), i have tried all aplications i can come across, including recover my files, winhex, get data back for ntfs, and r-studio.

i am honestly intrested in documenting the solution to this problem, and am intrested in suggestins on the best way to approach this

looking forward to your favourable reply.

You will most likely need to restore those files from a backup. But don't do anything until you've made sure the virus is gone. Don't want to reinfect the files.

I would appreciate any suggestions or advice on how to go about it. This lab will be located in my church to be used by the youth in the neighborhood for home work and for elder adults to become familiar with computers and the Internet. Thanks. This machine is at my church and has been giving us fits since the first of the year. I've gotten BlueScreenView which has helped but my tech skills are not enough to really understand what is going on. I've done some low tech stuff (Memtest86+ and trying to cool the CPU) but that hasn't worked. So I joined the forum to get expert advice.

Perfmon's report is inside the folder in the zipped file.

System specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (auto updates are turned on)
Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67 GHz
Installed RAM: 8 GB
System type: 64-bit
Video Card: ATI Raedon HD 4600
This is a Dell XPS desktop 435MT box.

We run the presentation software of MediaShout 4.5.0.211.
Antivirus is ESET NOD32 4.0.474.0

Neither MediaShout nor NOD32 were running when I ran the diagnostic software.

This is obviously the work of the devil. I suggest a prayer vigil. (sorry couldn't resist)

Okay seriously.
What you are experiencing here doesn't look good. The MCE (Machine_Check_Exception) error almost always means hardware has been damaged.
This is the error the bugchecks are producing.

There is a very slight possibility that ESET is blocking instruction sets it shouldn't be, and this is leading to the error.
There is no other software possibility I see here that could be causing it though.

There is a small possibility this is caused by incorrect bios settings, though I doubt it.

A:Very slow PC - trying to fix for my church - need help

Start by going to the Sony support site and use the model/serial number to locate the user guide; that should tell you if the laptop can be restored to full factory release with a recovery partition, or if the original recovery media for that laptop can still be purchased from Sony.
Then you should do hardware testing against the drive and the system memory; those can be done by using any of the free rescue disks available on the internet, use one to boot the laptop and use the correct utilities to test the drive and system memory.
After you are sure that both the hard drive and memory have not issues, you need to define exactly what you mean when you say the machine is very slow and be prepared to provide explicit examples.

Okay, so I've set up a free website for the church at wix.com and as long as the videos i post are linked in from youtube then i can post all i want for free. (the website is free also). But its taking forever and this is the delimma...

>>> I record to camcorder (approx. 45 min vids)
>>> Transfer via SD card to computer (which is complicating the individial naming of files as they are created)
>>> Reformat the videos because the file sizes are rediculously large (Takes forever)
>>> Upload to YouTube because its free (Takes forever x infinity)
>>> Link to church webpage (takes 2 seconds)

I need to be able to do this for at least one or two services per week and still have time to keep my day job. PLEASE HELP.

Hello, In order to speed up the format change you can try lowering the original resolution and switching to a much more powerful computer for that process (fast quad core cpu and tons of ram and a 64 bit os)
As for the uploading speed, I am afraid you are stuck with what you have unless you have the funds to switch to a business subscription which would allow same speed up and down (as you should know, residential subscriptions provide at best only about 1/5th the download speed for uploads) Run a standard speed test and you can see for yourself: http://speedtest.comcast.net/
Good luck with your project

I was just wondering if they are any programs that you can use for Sunday church. We are in a teen group called "The Bridge" and we currently use MediaShout 2.5. I will put below the things we need to keep in a program.

KEEP[b/]
1. Moving Backgrounds
2. Easy-to-use Bible Verse Writter
3. Easy-to-use Program
4. Able to run on WinXP (No problem, hopefully)
5. All of the current fonts
6. Able to hook up to 5 screens (We have the router and everything else)
7. Able to make it into a slideshow and have hotkey buttons so you press like spacebar and it goes to next slide.

Thanks for your help.

I was recently given a decent Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop to be cleaned up and given to someone who could use it at my church. I cleaned off the unnecessary programs and files, defragged, and updated WinXP Pro to SP2. By the time it finished the update, I have no hard disk space left. I can't even install anti-virus software, so the PC is basically unusable now. Is there a way to remove SP2 (I don't have the CD-ROMs to re-install WinXP)? Do you think a PC is better off with SP2 and no anti-virus, or with anti-virus and no SP2? Any creative ideas on how to get make this PC usable? Thanks much!

A:Old Laptop for Church Use

That came with a 4GB hard drive, expandable to 8GB.

Not much room for XP + SP's as you found out.

If you click start, control panel, add/remove programs, the SP2 should be listed.

Recently, I was asked to take over some financial recording for my church. From time to time, there were messages on the church PC which baffled me and required re-installation of some software. I resolved to put a virus scanner on it as there was none on it. (The rector and others seemed to believe there was no risk of infection because it never connected to the internet.)

Well, of course, some people were passing discettes around and - you guessed it - when I installed AVG free, it immediately detected the KEZ.H virus on boot up after installation.

I couldn't understand what action I was supposed to take following the initial notification so I scanned.

The scan found 95 infected files. When I requested healing, it gave me some choices and I chose Move to Virus Vault. At that point, the PC froze. I was able to end task on AVG.

I guess I am wondering now whether it has been cleaned. It didn't occur to me to rerun AVG, which I will do tomorrow.

In the meantime, does anyone have any advice?

The PC does not connect to the internet as far as I know but maybe I can set it up to do that and do a Symantec free scan or something.

Thanks.

A:Worm at Church

I think it might be worth another scan. To avoid the PC freezing up again, you'd best make sure that there are no other running processes and no screensaver beforehand, especially when it's time to move the virii to the vault or whatever. If it still freezes, you might want to try running it in safe mode. If you can, that is.

Once that's over with, you might want to consider setting a virus scanner to scan all diskettes put into the drive to stop this from happening again.

Look at that, eh? Ain't I a master of stating the obvious!

I read the questions already posted regarding a church directory. I have volunteered
to work on a church directory and want very much to have the computer do all my work
for me. I need to know what application would let me import member photos and let
me enter membership information (names, ages date of birth, anniversary date, occupation).
I have Window's 2000 with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Can you lead me in the right
direction?

A:church directory

A lot would depend on what you do with the directory. If it is just storage you could put it in WORD.... perhaps in tables.

If you need to manipulate the data in the future you may consider EXCEL. You could create a list of all the data and could shuffle it as you like at any time ..... Looking for everyone with a birthday this month..... looking for everyone under 21... etc. You could also have a separate DISPLAY or PRINT OUT sheets that would show & print any given person and their data and photo in a standard form.

Access would be nice but you don't have it and it may be more than you want to mess with for a directory list.

DREAMBOAT probably already has something cooked up and sitting on the shelf that fits the bill. But she must be sleeping this afternoon.

We are having a problem with one of the computers in our church. The user has been out of the office for two weeks and now she can't use the internet or get her email. None of the other computers are having a problem. The self-test ping comes back fine. And I can ping her computer from the server, but I can't ping the server from her computer. Accessing the internet just results in the Page Not Found error. Her Outlook generates an error that the mail server could not be found.

There are several software available for tracking church membership information. At one point Shelby system was rated one of the best but it is also the most expensive. I'm also not if Shelby allows for photos of members, but they mignt it's been a few years sinced I've reviewed church membership software.

Ok now, I have set-up a hard wired network at my home with no problems. I have never done anything with a wireless network. So i guess my question is this:

Where do I start?

What I need to do is share the DSL connection coming into the main church with the annex nest door, about 75' across a parking lot. Should I go wireless? Should a trench in weather proof cat6 in a conduit? What other options do I have and the pros and cons of each?

Any help would be great.

Thanks
