Hotmail Account

Q: Hotmail Account

I would like to know how to unlock my hotmail email account.

I set up my hotmail email account some time ago and did not have any other email accounts at the time. I am also unable to remember whether or not I set up a secret question and/or answer. Therefore I am unable to reset my password using the "forgot password" option.

Can you help me to unlock my hotmail email account?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have you tried using the extensive filter and spam blocking on Hotmail?

If you are usiing OE also go to it and export your address as an .csv file then go to this url and import them to your new hotmail account.

I can’t access my HOTMAIL accounts- HOTMAIL support?

I learned about Microsoft’s new policy of not allowing you to send email from Hotmail using it’s own products Outlook and Outlook Express unless you are paying an additional fee, when I replied to a (Hotmail) email while using OE. After sending my reply I received an error message that OE could not access the account. It then proceeded to DELETE all my previous email message in outlook express for this account.

A web search then led me discover that this account was one of those now requiring payment of a fee to send mail using Outlook or OE instead of logging on to the website. (They are doing this in stages so some HOTMAIL accounts still allow the free use and access with Outlook/OE.)

I then tried to sign on to my account using another Microsoft product Internet Explorer- initially everything looked unchanged,

1. however after typing in my name and password instead of opening my account

2. I got a new screen of “scrambled letters” designed to prove that a person and not a machine is accessing my account.

3. I type in these scrambled letters and one of two things happens:

a. (Usually) I receive yet another screen of scrambled letters to input

b. (Occasionally) I receive the “sign in screen” again EITHER WAY

4. Whichever screen I receive- whether I input scrambled letters yet again or insert my name and password the process repeats itself and one of two things happens:

A:I can't acces my HOTMAIL account- Hotmail Tech Support?

I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express in any form my self, so I can only offer some limited suggestions for sorting this out.

First: have you tried deleting all cookies and accessing the account? If using XP/2k -- it may even be helpful to try creating a new User Profile and logging in under that, this will ensure you have an entirely new web cache, index.dat and cookie folder.

Try accessing the account from another computer and see if you get in that way.

If your friend is using the free hotmail service, then you cannot access the account with an editor such as Outlook Express. You can only access Hotmail externally if the account is a paid option.

Could you explain The account policies that govern your use of Hotmail are detailed in our Online Help. Please note that you must sign into your Hotmail account at least once every 30 days. If you do not, your account will become inactive. After being inactive for 90 days, it will be deleted. You may want to save this message so you always have a handy link to this important information.
Example if I have a Hotmail address [email protected] and I do not sign in Hotmail account explain if I do not my account will become inactive. After being inactive for 90 days, it will be deleted so I will not beable to get my [email protected] back again

sportman10,

From Hotmail Help page - Close Account:
If you don't sign in for 30 days (or within the first 10 days), your account will become inactive. At that time, any messages in your account will be deleted and inbound e-mail will be refused. Your Passport will still function, and your Hotmail e-mail name will be reserved. If your account stays inactive for a further 90 days, it is permanently deleted, and your e-mail name is no longer reserved. Click to expand...

Couldn't find an area for a question about Hotmail ?? I Googled Hotmail Forum it brought me here to this site - registered so here is my query:

I have begun placing my CONTACTS into Categories like Family, Family O/S ( Over/Seas) Friends, Friends O/S, Business, Business O/S etc etc.
I have done that by ticking the "OBVIOUS" contacts boxes in my long contact list and transfering them to the appropriate Category.
However with about 290 contacts to place I keep going through the list, wondering if I placed them to the appropriate category.
Of course to check I have to close out of the main contact list, then go another list to check if I put them where I think they should be ( Some need to be included in a couple of Categories )
Is there some way that I can show - on my MAIN CONTACT LIST that I have placed them somewhere?
Like an indication mark ?
That then would then allow me, as I go through the list in Alphabetical order to see those Contacts that still have somewhere to be placed..Regards Don

Are you logging into the account by way of web browser or by the new Mail app? For older WLM and Hotmail as well as Live accounts you would want the Windows Essentials 2012 over the new Mail app.

Logging in directly online you would add the destination is as a new contact if not already in your address book there so the emails being sent will go through. I find that every time I go to send an email out to a new contact and forget to add the address in first as a new contact the draft will be saved. I see that with both the old Live accounts as well as at times with the accounts at outlook.com

Hi all

Has anybody else been locked out of their Hotmail account lately?

I have been locked out since Friday May 17th.

At first I could not get Hotmail to recognise even my account name. When it finally did, it would not accept my secret answer and redirected me to msn support.

msn support now tll me there is no such account, even though there is still a secret question logged against it and email sent to it dos not return undelivered.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I foresee a huge security blunder on the horizon. Possible scenarios include a distributed denial of service or mass email virus dissemination through 'disappeared' Hotmail accounts.

I'd appreciate knowing if mine is trhe only one.

A:hotmail account

Follow these steps to close your account: 1. Visit http://mail.live.com/mail/CloseAccountConfirmation.aspx 2. Sign in using your Windows Live Hotmail account and password. 3. Click "Close account" button. This will only close the e-mail service, the Windows Live ID that is associated with your account will remain active and will be deleted after 365 days of inactivity. If you would like to access any of our Windows Live ID services, please use a different account. From Account Closure - Hotmail AccountAfter closing the account, you can create another hotmail account HERE. Scroll down the page. On the right hand-side, look for Hotmail. You will be able to sign up for a new account. Now that I've gone through all that, are you using Windows Live Mail client or are you checking mail on the web? If you use WLM, someone may be able to help you resolve the isssue if you post details about it.

A:not able to log onto hotmail account

did hotmail state this on your login failure?>>

Type your .NET Passport sign-in e-mail address and password correctly. Remember, passwords are case-sensitive.

Hotmail is pretty vague as to the failure for the sign in mainly due to the server registering either one as an error.

if u are certain that your password is correct then the e-mail address u keyed in might be incorrect and vice versa.

maybe try creating a new password?? (as suggested if u can't remember it by Hotmail)

Hi,

I've seen similar problems with Hotmail and Yahoo acounts. I think the volume on these "free" accounts is SO HIGH.......that it fills to capacity as far as availability. My advice would be to try again at different times. This problem makes these accounts very unpredictable and somewhat unreliable because of the availability issue.

When I attempted to access MSN hotmail I am asked for my id and password. I I don't know my password so I am right back to where I started. And I am again asked to change my password and instructions will be sent to my hotmail address.

I know Microsoft does some strange things, but sending the password info to your hotmail email??? I thought they would send it to your alternate email address if you supplied one. If you did supply one did you check there?

Hi Folks,

I know that if you guys can't help me no-one can.

My Girlfriends Ex-Hubby guessed my Hotmail Password & has read all my e-mails. He then proceeded to change my password two or three times a day so I had to use my secret question to change my password to gain access. He then sent me an e-mail under a false name & quoted all my e-mails to me. I have asked hotmail for a list of all IP addresses that have accessed my account but they have been less than forthcoming. I envisage their should only be about 3 IP addresses on the list & all of them static. he has also "threatened" to send my e-mails on to third parties.

He has also alledgedly persuaded the admins on a web forum I subscribe to forward every private message I have sent on there to him (he is doing a documentary on their behalf).

I was just wondering what are the legal implications here, as he is invaded my privacy & the web forum have passed Private information to a third party? I have spoken to a solicitor but as soon as he heard internet he went white . I am in the UK, so is he & the company that run the web forum.

Many thanks for any advice.

Regards to all

Gogs

ps. yes i have changed all my passwords & secret questions

I opened an email that appeared to be from a friend. However, it contained this spam message, word for word (Don't worry; this is NOT a copy-and-paste; I transcribed it by hand so as not to pass the cooties on):

"Hey friend, I find a site to sell electronic products with very good price. Laptop, iPhone even Motorcycle are very popular. and their products are original quality with very low price as wholesale business supplier. They also can do retail business for end user now, maybe it is fit for your business. If you like you can contact them:
www.wholesalers-electronic.com
E-mail: [email protected]
Msn: [email protected]"

I immediately deleted it, then got a prompt saying that my auto-vacation reply was on! I went in, saw that it was, then turned it off.

I answered another email, and when I hit "reply," that SAME SPAM MESSAGE appeared in the message box. I tried closing and opening different messages, and every time I hit reply, the same thing would happen. I sent no messages to anyone.

I ran AVAST! which found one virus, and I deleted it. I rebooted, then ran Spybot and Ad-Aware back to back (Spybot found then fixed 7 problems), then rebooted again. But my Hotmail account still has the same problem. If I try to reply to a message, that !@#$%^&!! spam message pops right up. I am at my wit's end!

I tried googling that message and found that while other people have had the same problem, no solutio... Read more

I have Windows XP and Windows Explorer 7. My Hotmail account seems to have been hi-jacked. About a week ago I started to receive Delivery Status Notifications (Delay) from many unknown accounts and I discovered that my account had been sending out automated vacation replies with a message publicising an unknown website www.welt188.com. I junked these and used Superantispyware to find what was running on my computer. One programme was found that was not listed in my control panel or my screen list. This was from B's Recorder Gold Service Library and is a program called BGSVCGEN.EXE The messages are now going to all my contacts with a different advert. I have done a BITDefender scan today, which found and deleted 2 adware files: Gen Adware Heur 80C43B3B3B. Can anyone help?

I have had the same Hotmail account for over four years. Yesterday, when I signed in, I noticed that they had increased the size of my account to 250 mb. Yesterday, I had my Hotmail open and I was switching from window to window (copying text, etc). Suddenly, when I went back to the Hotmail window, it said every one of my folders, including Inbox was empty. I tried to Refresh but it didn't help. I signed off, and since then, this is what's happening -

The system allows me to enter my password when I go to sign in, but the returned screen is an empty white screen with a small red "X" in the upper left corner in a small box.

My attempt to sign in results in being signed in to MSN.com but when I click on the Hotmail button, the same thing as descibed above happen. I have many contacts locked in there and I really want to be able to use Hotmail.
