HP Pavilion x2 will not boot up or restore

Q: HP Pavilion x2 will not boot up or restore

My problem concerns:-
HP Pavillion X2 detachable PC10
System ID 815D
Product ID 1234567#ABA
Product number MS69EA#ABU
Serial (removed content)
I downloaded Advanced SystemCare 9 PRO from IObit after it loaded and called for a restart, my conpouter has never worked again. It came up with error code 0xc0000001 operating system has failed to start.
I bought the HP recovery media P/N828684-031 09/21/16 Release 1
I followed the instructions but it comes up with a box titled "Recovery Manager" a yellow triange and message OXFFEEO18, when I pressed OK it goes to a white line on the side of a black screen or some times it goes to recovering drive C, it gets to 100% then goes back to the original error code.
I have run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic UEFI and it tests as OK.
Any help would be appreciated

Preferred Solution: HP Pavilion x2 will not boot up or restore

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HP Pavilion 15 originally on Windows 8.1, had been upgraded to Windows 10.  Failing to boot.Would not boot into safe mode.Had tried all manner of recovery options including the built in Factory restore options and still would not complete the boot sequence.Decided the restore image must have been faulty.  With nothing on importance on the disk, was able to successfully install Windows 7 and boot. With the laptop completing the HP built in diagnostics, I bought the restore disks from HP.Have just run these through, having first reset the BIOS to defaults and after installing all the required data and following all the prompts, it still won't boot.Unit is not under warranty.  Have now replaced the HDD and run the restore disks from HP again, same problem.I can get it to a state where it gives me the 0xc0000001 error and tells me that after multiple failed attempts to boot, I must boot from a windows disk and try other means to repair the install.Help?

a friend gave me an hp desktop to clean of malware. i found over 22000 items and over 30gb of crap. both norton firewall and mcafee a/v were current and running, so i suspect that they were damaged by some of this stuff...so i plan to delete then load different stuff(zone alarm and avast a/v). now here's my real doubt/question. i have a feelin that a piece of malware might have modified, part-most of windows, the explorer program quits (not responding) every time i use it but i have installed firefox and cleaned up a hijack entry, fixed thousands of registry entries, disabled prefetch and of course dumped all cache, history, temp files, rootkit detectors etc so feelin good about now...just need to know if i can just refresh the system files and will that do any good? or do i need to do a format - she has no backups and i am reluctant to make em now then format and reintroduce them when i restore the backups...so format or try to just refresh the system files. a url on how to use the recovery disk would be also appreciated...aloha

I usually quantify this by telling people how much it will cost. Many hours to fix, 2 to 4 hours to reinstall.
I think you're better off reinstalling. Copy the data to other media and scan it before reusing it.
Many HPs restore with the F1 key at startup:look for "Press F1 to start recovery" or something similar at startup.

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC Notebook. When I had first purchased it, it ran on Windows Vista and I upgraded it to Windows 7. I want to restore it to factory settings but I am having difficulty. I tapped Escape and then pressed F11 and have this several times and it did nothing after each option I selected. I have also tapped Escape and then pressed F9 and tried all the selections from there and that has failed too. I do not have any of the original CDs except the Windows 7 upgrade installation and I have tried that to unistall Windows 7 but it won't do that either. I have basically tried everything, ran out of ideas, and I need help.

A:How do I restore a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC?

Hi: You will have to order a set of recovery disks for your PC by reading the info at the link below. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143 If you can read all 25 characters of the vista product key on the bottom of your notebook, you can make your own vista installation dvd. Here' s how: If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC. Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn. Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot. The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated. When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format. I selected No, make the ISO file. It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them. I tested both of them an my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly. When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vist... Hi,

I was messing around with CCleaner and deleted something to do with an old version of McAfee (which isn't even on my computer anymore) from the registry. Yes, it was stupid to mess with the registry I guess because I failed to make the backup and now my computer won't boot. I get the blue screen that says there was an error 0x0000008e, or something like that. I have tried using F8 and choosing the last known good configuration but it doesn't work. Also, I can boot into safe mode and I tried running a system restore but after it finished and I rebooted, it said that I couldn't restore from that point.

I haven't really tried another restore because I am a little afraid to do anything. I don't want to risk losing access in safe mode because I need to be able to back up some of my files if in case I have to do a reformat.

Can anyone advise me on what I should do? Should I try the earlier restore point from a few days ago? Is there a way to find an older copy of my registry somewhere on my computer?

Another problem I am having is, I can boot to safe mode with networking, but my internet will only work for about 10 to 15 mins then I keep getting "Page cannot be displayed" and have to reboot again in order to use the net. That means in order to check for repsonses from here, I have to reboot my PC every 15 mins. Any ideas for a fix for that so that I can troubleshoot the other problem easier?

I have a 6 week old Pavilion desktop all in one.  I wanted to do a factory install on it because I had lots of extra things I installed that I no longer want and I thought a factory restore  would be best.  I went to the HP Recovery Manager and no where in the choices did it say  "factory restore".  It used to have that option in the HP Recovery Environment.  I checked all the options and nothing about factory restore.  I did make a set of recovery discs but I always remember that HP always had the option to do a factory restore.  I tried F11 and F8 and no luck. Any answers or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

A:Factory Restore on new HP Pavilion All in One Computer

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome! Depending on the computer model, it may not be called exactly HP system recovery but if your computer originally came with Windows 10 preinstalled, recovery partition should be present. - Please, first manually copy your most imporant data on an external partition- Follow these instructions here to open the recovery from inside Windows>> http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4130-reset-windows-10-a.html>> http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4130-reset-windows-10-a.html#option2 It's called Reset - Windows Reset with options to RESET the machine to factory condition (remove everything), with an option to "refresh" Windows and keep personal files. Let me know how it goes and if this works for you.

A:HP Pavilion Crashes and Reboots during restore

Freezing usually is caused by overheating. Since you cleaned the computer you can rule this out. And a failing Power Supply Unit. Take the side off of the computer and report the make, model# and wattage of the PSU. Boot into Setup (Bios) to PC Health and report the Temperatures and the +12V line of the PSU.

Hi, my HP pavilion laptop stopped working.  It was unable to boot, so I attempted a clean refresh and it was unsuccessful.  Now I want to wipe it back to factory status, but it asks for recovery media.  I never made a recovery disk, and I don't have a hard copy of the OS.  Additionally, whenever I try to do much of anything it asks for the Administrator account's password.  This is an account I never set up, so I have no clue what the password could be.  Does anyone know a way to access command promt or restore a laptop without the disk, or what the default password is for the Administrator?

In addition to my original post, "Boot Device Not Found (Cannot Boot into Windows)", I would like to know a way to restore the computer from boot, since I have many backups in my Recovery drive. When I search it on YouTube and try it, I keep pressing the F11 button during boot, and it'll say in the bottom-left hand corner, "F11 System Restore", and not actually take me to System Restore. In the YouTube videos, it does. I would like to know how to fix this and what may have caused it. The computer will not boot after I turned it off via the power button since it froze. HP Pavilion 6355 has the following issues:

1) Computer will not shut down by holding in power button. It must be "unplugged from outlet."

2) When power cord plugged in the light sequence on the tower reads, from left to right, yellow, green.

3) A Thumping sound comes from speakers, not the typical Bios Beeps.

4) Monitor is blank, yellow light indicator on.

5) Cannot open CD Drive, even manually.

This computer belongs to a friend of mine whose daughter uses it for High School work. She was working on it one day, received an error message, no, no, writing it down would be to easy , so she shut down using start-shutdown, and left for school. When she came back and resumed her work she was met with the above scenario.

Any ideas as to the most expeditious way to get to root of issue.

So I posted a question about a nightmare sticky-filter-toggle-mouse scroll-kets situation I was having. After trying every suggestion I could find I decided it was best to do a system restore.
That was 3 hours ago.
I got my manual and pressed f11 and it said press f11 for system restore so I did it so I'm sure thats the program I'm in, but for 3 hours all its done is the same thing over and over and over...says "windows is loading files" and then goes through a reboot process. Some people posted things similar to this but mentioned a blue screen- I have no blue screen and no real idle time. Just the normal reboot screens and the "windows is loading files" screen.

Is this normal? I hope so. I cant deal with more computer nonsense today!

I got an HP Pavilion Laptop model 15p 114 dx. I bought it on Amazon. The machine at first when I tried to turn it off, it was on (as if I had sent it to sleep instead of shutting it down), after several attempts, the machine shut down but when trying to turn it on, I threw the error File: \ boot \ bcd \ Error code: 0x0000098 on blue screen and I recommended going to the diagnostics part of the machine (HP diagnostics). After seeing several options and as I have the data backed up, I went through the restore option without back up. The machine did not finish the job and gave me the blue screen message: Restoration Incomplete, with three options, save log, details or retry. In details, it exits at the beginning: P2PP BurnBoot Check Failed, and at the end says the report: sysprep was noy launched properly ..... the process will cause CTO panic because the image might not be normal. I deactivated the Safe Boot in the BIOS and then used the Boot menu to select the CD / DVD drive as the boot device. I used a W 7 OS Disk to try to install it on the machine, but screen stays "installing Windows" too long. I don'dt know waht else can I do. Any ways, since I am trying to install it all again, I do not know if it will be possible to get a recovery disk since the machine does not bring it, nor does it bring the Windows 8 OS disk.

Since the computer became unresponsive and was unable to login as described in the two paragraphs right below, did another restore from restore partition, which went very quickly (13 min.) then removed the Veriface program and ran the Farbar scan, during all of which the computer seemed to run fast and smooth as ever. 11:58 PM, Mar. 20, Eastern Time - Sorry. Against post facto advice of moderator in the other forum where this issue was posted I have made changes to the computer including installing Service Pack 1, installing firefox, removing firefox, and restoring to a point before installing Service Pack 1. If you do not have the restore CD that came with your computer and or a restore partition on the hd, then you must either contact hp and have them send it to you or buy a regular MS CD. There is no way to "Restore" without the media to restore with.

Note some mfg use a hidden partition on the disk for restore purposes.

How long did you leave the computer unplugged? If you just unplugged and plugged in right away your not giving the hardware time to reset. Unplug the computer and leave it sit for a bought 10 minutes. That should be enough time for the system to reset. I suspect it may be a hardware lock. Not ruling out software as yet.

Using Original Windows Install disk with repair option (Version of Windows not compatible with repair disk).
Using a System Repair disk results in the same error message.
The old failed hard disk is no longer in the system, but when it was working with both drives installed, on boot I would get a list of the two installs asking which to boot from. The new install was always first in the list, so it was not a problem. Now
that the 300Gb drive has failed, the computer just boots immediately to BIOS.
How do I make the computer boot from the 2Tb hard drive without loosing everything on that drive? Is there something that can restore, or reconfigure the master boot record to allow booting from the good drive?

I have dual boot with Xp and windows 7.when i log into my Xp all the restore points being deleted from windows 7.
when i check the disk management information in 7 it shows windows 7 create a logical drive with my Xp primary drive.even i am hide the drive from both windows means Xp drive from windows 7 and vice verse.
So i like to unmount or remove the drive partition of windows 7 from Xp and Xp primary from windows 7.So that they dont affect each others system files with being deleted the partitions.
So suggest some software or cmd commands to do that.
thanks in advance

Hello Ari, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to prevent your restore points in Windows 7 from getting deleted every time you startup XP.

I have a strange situation that has developed. I have an XP / Linux Mint dual boot. Everything works fine on the Mint installation, however the XP side has developed some strange characteristics. Firstly system restore will not restore to a previous setting ( Shows up on the restore Menu ).
I want to do a clean reinstall, set the boot order to boot from CD, reads the CD but wont boot up - just resumes to the original programme. Lastly Sound - works fine on the Mint set up but nothing comes out on XP. Device Manager says all systems are working correctly.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Done an AVG Scan - NO threats found.

A:[SOLVED] Restore/ Sound/ Boot problem on Xp dual boot

If you are trying to boot from CD and the CD drive is set to First Boot Device and you put your XP CD in, restart the computer and you do not get the message Press Any Key To Boot From CD/DVD, then either the CD is not First Boot Device, the CD is not bootable or the CD drive is not reading the CD correctly. Try the CD on another computer if it boots that computer then the CD drive needs to be changed.
To repair the other problems you are having in XP, go to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow and press enter. Put the XP CD in and it will replace any missing system files.
Remember if you are successful in reinstalling XP, then you will have to reinstall GRUB as XP will take over the boot order.

I recently got a desktop computer from my brother. It hag some issues and I wanted to do a complete restore.

I set "system restore" to default boot through "msconfig"
I did a complete restore through "Microsoft genuine software" and when it restarted it booted back into the same system restore.

Safe mode does not work and I do not have an operating system cd to boot from.

Is there any way to get it to boot back to Windows?

A:My default boot is set to restore and I can't boot Windows

What do you mean you did it through msconfig ? Why didn`t you just do a System Restore the normal way, using the system restore program in windows.

A:hp pavilion boot usb

1. Check if the USB device is really bootable, you can do that by checking the files on the root location or by trying to boot another computer using it.2. Start the computer and press 'esc' key to get into bios, then choose Boot Options or Boot Menu, then choose the USB device (Few BIOS have an option to enable/disable Legacy boot options, hence you have to enable it before you could change the boot sequence. Please note that the USB device needs to be on top of boot device list.

My computer will not boot. The power supply light in the back turns on.  Fans turn on.  CD-ROM functions.  No USB power and no LED light on the front.  It does not come on at all when the computer turns on.  When I turn on the power, I hear nothing but the fans, the screen is blank and keyboard and mouse have no lights.  I have tested the monitor, keyboard and mouse and they are functioning.  I think it could be the BIOS or either a motherboard problem.  I need some help to narrow down the problem.

Just looking to possibly buy a HP Pavilion 17-ab200na. It comes with an M.2 SSD but doesn't give any technical details about it on the web advert. Does the M.2 connect via SATA, USB or PCIe? Does it support NVMe and most importantly is it set up as the boot drive? Thanks
