HOW TO REMOVE/REINSTALL OUTLOOK IN WIN8

Q: HOW TO REMOVE/REINSTALL OUTLOOK IN WIN8

I'm running MS Office 2013 Professional in Windows 8. The old hard drive in my laptop was beginning to fail and I could not clone it directly to the new drive because of the few bad sectors. So I moved over all of my data and documents to the new drive and reinstalled windows, office, and the other apps from scratch. The problem I'm having is with Outlook within Office 2013. Right from the start, I had problems with the new install in terms of migrating my old mail files to the new application install. Multiple issues, from Inbox always hanging up, Outbox hanging up, folders disappearing, etc...I tried to do an Uninstall of Office/Outlook via Control Panel, and a fresh Reinstall via Setup files, but the main mail folders/file that is causing all the problems was automatically ported over to the new reinstall, so all of my problems continue. How do I uninstall Outlook/Office, making sure that I also uninstall the main mail folder/file/configuration, so that it is truly a fresh new install FROM SCRATCH, and NOT saving & porting over any email configuration. Obviously, when you Uninstall the app, it does NOT Uninstall your main email configuration/address/folder...it is saved, and automatically reconfigured upon the Reinstall. Hope I'm making some sense and not babbling incoherently....Jim

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi JHphc028 Your Outlook configuration files and folders are located in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft and %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft. There should be a folder called Outlook in both these folders. To be sure that you delete everything related to it, I would uninstall Microsoft Office completely using Revo Uninstaller Portable, set the scan type to Advanced and delete all the Registry keys and files/folders found related to it after. Or I would just go in Program Files (x86), Program Files, ProgramData, etc. and delete the Microsoft Office/Office folders manually.http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-free-portable.php

Hi Tech people,

So here is my dilemma....I have a Toshiba satellite preinstalled with windows 8, after a family member borrowed it the hard drive was DOA, nothing I could do to salvage it. So I bought a new hard drive (from Toshiba) and began to reinstall windows 8. everything went fine until I tried to activate it and my product key failed. I have the original key from the BIOS as well as an additional media & key (windows 8 pro) but neither product keys will work. I think I might have miss matched my media disks, (I have 8 various copies of windows 8). when I input either keys I am given a message stating that the key is not ment for this version please use windows 8 setup or use a windows 8 pro key. well both of these keys are windows 8 pro. I called Microsoft and they verified that both of my keys are legit, but the disk I was provided (by Microsoft) is not. they told me I have a MAK key and my version is GVLK. they told me I would have to pay $100 for a new key. is there anyway I can just get a install disk that uses MAK keys or something? and what the hell is the difference in using a mak key vs GVLK?

I bought windows 8 a few months ago only because the deal was too sweet, but never installed it until recently, and that was only because I got the free Windows Media Center license that would expire on Jan 31. So I upgrade installed my Win7 install and everything went ok, but somehow, a few weeks later, my RAID setup broke. Luckily I back up everything. But I've never been a big fan of upgrade installs and want to start over. I know Windows will install fine, but I use WMC a lot, and wonder if I can reinstall using my license, even though its after the 31st. I had already installed it, so i don't think I'm not abiding by the rules.

Hi,

I run Windows 8 x64. During the last few days Windows 8 kept on trying/pretending to reinstall itself on start up/turning on my notebook. Colors of the screen changes I am asked to be patient and 2 or 3 mins later an empty--no tiles--start screen is showed and my account's name. No settings available on the right except Sleep/Switch off/Restart. A few turning on and off and then I used to be able to use Win8, but now it I am unable to do so anymore. Actually, today it's trying to do so constantly, so now I'm using Puppy Linux Live CD 5.2.8. to be able to ask for some help.
Recently I changed BIOS settings to be able to boot live CD. Yesterday I set all settings to default.
I guess its a Win8 bug, isn't it?
Well, I have no hot F keys to boot in safe mode, so actually I am unable to boot Win8 at all.
I don't think that I have any kind of malware, but Windows 8 bug/s.
Please help and tell me what to do! (Pls note, that I cannot run any diagnostic program under Win8, since I cannot boot. I can use Linux or bootable CD only.)

Thx for your help in advance!

I had a version of Windows 8 installed on a secondary hard drive for testing purposes. When I no longer needed it, I uninstalled it and formatted the hard drive. What's odd is that the Bootloader for Windows 8 is still there, and throws up an error screen saying it can't find critical system files.

Ive tried restoring the MBR using my Win7 disc, but to no avail.

Hi,
I bought a computer (Z930, 128 SSD, 6GB RAM) with Windows 8 preinstalled, and I want to remove windows 8 and install windows 7 for which I have the license.
my question is:
1 - is it possible to format completely the hard drive to install a "clean" windows 7
2 - after doing this, will it be possible to reinstall Windows 8 from USB recovery media that I've created.
2 - Is the installation of Windows 7 pose a problem? (about the new UEFI; reconnaissence of hardware ...)

thanks

Yes.

Generally speaking no, it is not a problem. Only problem can be installation of some drivers, tools and utilities but I believe you will be able to install it.

I have tested it and there was no problem at all.

Well, I was asked to fix a several month old win 8 laptop.

I was told it had been interrupted during an update and said no OS found, after getting permission I tried to refresh and when that froze (4% for an hour) reset. Then I loaded a copy of win 8 onto a usb to try a clean install, still nothing. I use a program to wipe it, then try a fresh install again. useless. I try installing win 7, same issue.

No matter what I do I keep getting varients of this \windows\system32\config\system 0xc00000e9 and a message mentioning registry problems.

Any ideas?
Failing that is there any way to more or less erase the registry and start from scratch?

A:Win8 FUBAR-update ruined-registry issue-reinstall useless

If you do a clean install you registry is replaced (along with everything else)

0xc00000e9 tends to indicate a hard drive failure though which may not be good news.

I'm unable to 'Safely remove' or 'Eject' external USB 3.0 drives (I have 2) on my Lenovo Thinkpad running Wndows 8.1 without having the computer claim that the drive needs to be scanned for errors when the drive is reconnected to the same laptop or attached to my desktop PC's.

When I connect the same drives to my desktop PC's USB3 ports I initially get the same "scan for errors" prompt. But any further attaching and removal of the same drives to either my Windows 7(64) and Vista (64) dsktop PCs's does not reproduce the same error and further safe removal and reconnecting to those 2 systems is error free.

When scanned for errors there has never been any errors discovered. The 2.5" drives (one Seagate the other WD) are in Vantec USB 3.0 external enclosures that use a '2x USB plugs' cable; one for data and one for power. My usual removal method is to click on the 'Windows Explorer Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media' icon on the Taskbar and select Eject for the drive and then wait until the 'Safe to remove' message pops up before removing the single cable attached to the external enclosure.

Somehow I'm getting some gadget errors every time my PC is booting up.

Is there an easy way to eliminate those gadgets?

Right now I could go to Task Manager ---> Start Up and disable the gadgets but I would like to do a full removal instead.

I was using windows 8 and now switched back to windows 7 because of incompatibility with my CAD softwares.
Yesterday my system failed to boot due to some trojan virus that MSE figured it but failed to remove. And my system failed to boot after the bios screen. It said winload.exe not found.
I have encountered such problem before so I just inserted Windows 7 DVD and choose to "Repair the computer". But to my surprise it said failed to write boot information to disk.
Then i removed Win7 DVD and booted. Windows 8 bootloader appeared and it said "failed to boot. Insert Windows installation disk and reboot".( Windows 7 had been booting through windows 8 bootloader for a longtime.)

I can handle this problem and make windows 7 work again. Since i came to know that win8 loader is still on the master boot partition, i want to remove it and bring windows7 loader back to the boot partition and use it to boot windows 7.

Please help me. Hope you understood my problem.

This what my disk partitions are:
What are those partitions numbered 2, 3, 4?

I have not changed the partitions from beginning.
In the beginning, while installing win8.1, i partitioned the complete hdd(GPT) like: C, D, E, F, X.
C for Default Windows and D for any other OS for dual boot.

Now, at starting, There was no dual boot; I installed Win8.1 on C, and D was empty. When Win10 prev came, I installed w10 on D with dual boot.
After that I installed different builds of w10 on D few times, but w8.1 was not reinstalled on C, it was as it is after 1st installation.

In Jun2015, I reinstalled w8.1 on C. And I also reinstalled w10 after its release on 29Jul. I'm writing all these because I don't know in which partition the boot manager is. I know in disk management it's showing C, but.....

I don't know why but now-a-days system starting process from pressing "on" key to w8.1 user login screen has became bit slow. After pressing "on" it takes 1min 20secs to reach OS selection screen.

So, I want to remove w10 and it's boot manager (if any) completely; and make the w8.1 just like if it's installed in empty hdd without dualboot.

I been trying to find a solution to this problem ever since Windows 8 was released to the public on October 26, 2012.

Windows 8 CryptoAPI crashes Outlook while same problem does not occur on Windows 7.

This occurs when signing, encrypting, or decrypting a email with a digital Certificate where the private key is secured by Microsoft Windows 8 CryptoAPI on the highest setting. Outlook requests CryptoAPI for the Key and Crashes.

This does not Happen on Windows 7. In addition, the private key can be accessed by Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 8 while Outlook 2010/2013 cannot.

I have a Win 7 machine with Office/Outlook 2007.  I've just purchased a new Win8 machine pre-loaded with Office 2013.   I'm very nervous about moving Outlook, as my husband has a large number of work emails on 2007.  I've seen various posts on other sites, but none that help the comfort factor, since the situations are different.

We have three separate Outlook accounts - a yours, mine, and ours.  I have copied the .pst files for each to an external backup drive. Are any other backups required for calendar, contacts, etc., or is all of this in the separate pst file?

I've seen some posts that say to use the Export/Import tool to move to a new machine (and others that say to avoid this tool at all costs because of data loss), but they seem to be to move to the same version.  I just haven't found any good info on moving to a new computer AND to a new version at the same time.

Has anybody done this and can give me some easy-to-understand steps to do it safely?  (I'm definitely not a tech!)

Thank you.

Hi,

I have an old desktop PC (circa 2002) running XP

On that PC, I have been using Office Professional Plus 2010 & Outlook to access my email account (POP)

I just purchased a Win8 laptop. Since the Win8 Mail app will not work with POP email accounts, my email/internet access provider (Comcast) recommended using Windows Live Mail (I'm using 2012 version). This works fine for new emails. However, I have not been able to find a way to "move" the historical emails from my Outlook 2010 (PC) to WinMailLive (laptop.)

Exporting the emails from Outlook 2010 creates a .PST file which is not recognized by WinMailLive.

I tried using MailStore, but it will only archive email from the Inbox for POP accounts.

Anyone know of a way to move emails from Outlook 2010 to WNL 2012, that is easier than forwarding all the historical emails to myself from the Outlook PC & then reorganize them in WML on the laptop?

Thanks - mg

Once you have it all backed up you can do the same thing only pick Import instead of backup and point to the backup of WLM

Hi,
This is an easy one! :)
If you don't have your boot disc then download from:
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm.
Go throu the process and load fdisk if it not there then goto:
http://www.uv.tietgen.dk/staff/mlha/Download/DOS/
downlaod here and folow throu with the fdisk options to delete all partitions then start with create primary partition and also set to active at end. this will give you a fresh HDD with a new partition. You should also limit it to no more than 10GB no more and a little less with ME. By the way why is it ME is required? XP does do a better job. You need at least 512KB-1GB of memory to run efficiently and a CPU over 1GHZ before you see any really benifits.
Good luck with blowing away your installation. If you can load your o/s then image it to ensure that all the data you need is backedup first. do this to another partition first, if yiou don't have one then create one or burn it to disc as you can mount the image for later retrieval.
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...k,GUT02,00.asp
These are some you could try.

Fdisk is not for the faint hearted but have a fiddle and its easier than first impressions.

If you are going to give me an answer that tells me what I can read on the GUI as I click through, please do not respond to this. Please let other people who have more in depth knowledge respond and then you can also learn.
How does this feature work?  I need to know what happens when I click the Get Started button.  Is there a VBS file that gets executed?  Where is the image that it restores from?  I would like to figure out how this feature works under
the hood in an attempt to try to customize it.

I would like to "Remove everything and Reinstall windows" my laptop came with windows 8 already installed(brand new from shop not second hand 2 years ago now I believe) and is currently upgraded to the free 8.1 update they sent out. My pc has become so slow even with using utilities to clean my pc up still got a few errors(nothing major just annoyances). I would like to start a fresh as windows update has always been a pain to work correctly and download updates without getting errors and such.
When doing this how long does it take (approx) ? And will/if it ask for a product key where would I locate mine?
also anything else I should know about? or is it just straight forward.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi,

The computer was infected (and still may be) with the Fake AV trojan. I booted into Safe Mode and ran the Eset online scanner, Malwarebytes and Malwarebytes Antiroot kit. Eset found 77 infections, MWB found 338 and there were no rootkits found. I then rebooted into normal mode and ran Spybot 1.6.2, it found another 52 problems. Everything seemed fine until I ran Windows Update and it would not install an update for MSE (KB2902885), The error reported was 0x8004FF80. After doing research on the error, I found a Microsoft Fixit program that would assist in uninstalling MSE. It did not work. I attempted to do the "manual" method of removing MSE and after figuring out that the registry items needed to have the permissions changed to allow for deletion, it seemed to work.

I ran Windows update again, updated the system and it seemed fine again, albeit without MSE. I attempted to install MSE and now am getting an install error 0x80070643. I just want to install MSE, but think there is still remnants of the trojan out there.

I am not sure what to do at this time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Hello, can you post the ESET and MBAm logs.

I would like to reinstall win 10 via my usb drive. Should I first remove the existing win 10 which is corrupted or would the installation over write it?

A:Do I need to remove existing win 10 before i reinstall

If you plan to do a clean reinstall of Windows 10, it will wipe out and overwrite and replace the current install.
The same applies to any Windows version.

I attempting to load Xp/Pro on a Dell Precision 690 that has had Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 installed on it.

When I put the XP Install CD and boot from it, I get a message saying
"Setup is inspecting your computers hardware configuration..."

Then the screen goes black and the CD stops spinning. It will wait there until I restart the computer. If I restart the machine will boot back to RHEL without any problems.

Any suggestions?

Okay, so my question is: When I hit that big shiny button, will it wipe EVERYTHING, and restart from scratch just as if you were installing it fresh? or will it still keep things like graphics drivers, and third party leftovers?

I intend to start over as if it were a clean install (don't worry, i'm backed up, and know what I'm getting myself into.)

A:Remove everything and reinstall Windows

It removes your programs, your apps, and all your files. As for Drivers, not sure.

I use iTunes on my Windows 7 computer to sync with my iPhone, and the last time I went to open iTunes it gave me the error message "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."

I had heard that if I uninstalled Quicktime (which is bundled with iTunes when that is downloaded), then reinstalled it separately, it would work again, but after trying that it didn't. So I decided to just uninstall iTunes, then reinstall it. However, every time I try to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, it just sits there saying it'll be about eight more seconds to go to finish deleting, but it just sits, and sits, and sits...... Nothing. I also tried to just install the newest iTunes on top of the existing one, but every time I try it tells me that it's already installed and to click "Ok."

So I can't uninstall it, nor can I install it, nor will iTunes open on its own. I had done a system restore recently, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Can someone help?

I need to know how to manually RIP OUT every single reference of ie8 from the disk, the registry, and my life. i am trying to reinstall ie7 as a trouble shooting step because IE8 is completely messed up. i cannot downgrade normally because the uninstall entry is missing. spuninst.exe fails to function.

i will rip the head off of anyone who responds with a cut and paste microsoft document because i am so fed up with people beating around the bush and assuming that there is some sort of easy to do this that inevitably will fail just like the rest.

I want a list of registry entries and files to delete. i am treating IE8 like a virus and wish to remove it by hand as such
