Reinstalled windows 7 home premium 64 bit missing drivers.

Q: Reinstalled windows 7 home premium 64 bit missing drivers.

I had a bunch of viruses on my computer and I kept getting more because one of them hijacked mcafee, preventing me from turning it back on. I tried to restore my system to an earlier date but all the restore dates were too recent so I decided to reinstall windows 7. I didnt have the disk any more so I downloaded it to a usb drive. I succesfully installed it, but when I logged in I noticed it looked completely different. The bottom bar was much larger then it was before, The screen looks zoomed in and the shortcuts are all much bigger, and when I go into control panel or computer the windows take up the entire screen and cant be made smaller, only minimized. Could I have downloaded a wrong version of windows 7? I also failed to realize that I would need to install all new drivers and was very confused when I couldn't connect to the internet. I tried to install the drivers by looking them up with the network cards ven id but it says they aren't supported on my device. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I have no clue what I am doing. If it helps I have a dell xps 8300.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I'm having a problem while trying to do a clean install of windows vista home premium. Every time I click install now when it comes up, I can this message "A required cd/ dvd drive device driver is missing, Plug in the cd, dvd... ect with the needed drivers now."

I have a clean never used western Digital Caviar black 1 tb SATA HDD, a gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L Mobo, and a LG multi DVD rewriter, Model GSA H54L.

From my understanding its not the cd/dvd driver it reads the install cd just fine up until then, but the the SATA, Raid drivers or something else that aren't being detected. I've tried messing around with turning the AHCI on and off and switching from legacy to Native Ide ports. But nothing worked. The same thing was happening even when I had the HDD hooked up to a IDE/SATA converter and plugged into an IDE port.

and as far as I know the aren't any SATA Drivers offered for my motherboard at the gigabyte site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just wanna get this thing working

A:missing cd/dvd device drivers while trying to install windows home premium

From this page: http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Mothe...ver=#anchor_os

To enable hot plug capability for the SATA connectors controlled by the ICH9 South Bridge, you must install Windows Vista (on ICH9, hot plug is supported in Windows Vista only) and configure the SATA connectors for AHCI mode. (Refer to manual Chapter 2, "BIOS Setup," "Integrated Peripherals," for details on enabling AHCI.)

Hi, - I used the process outlined in this link: http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_upgrade_clean.asp
to make a clean install from Windows XP Home Media Edition to Windows Vista Home Premium. <<ACER 5100 notebook, 1G ram, 1.6Ghz, 110G HDD>> Until I found Paul Thurrott's web site, it looked like I was going to have to actually upgrade and bring along all that mess from 3 years of using XP. But, following the instructions Paul gave, I actually did get a clean install. The software was 10% off too from Circuit City. Too bad about them, huh ?

Well, the clean went well, but afterwards when I repeated the process inputting the product key, right near the end, maybe the 3rd or 4th restart, the ACER froze up. I did it again after first deleting the partition and recreating it (BootIt NG). 2nd time it installed fine. Took about 30 min for the clean install, and 1 hour 5 min for the upgrade. The only thing I did differently the 2nd time was to change the boot sequence back to HDD, CDROM.

Anyway, the PC is fine. Wireless works and I've done some Internet browsing. But, in device manager, I have 3 instances of PCI Flash mem alarm, and 1 instance of a USB2.0 camera alarm. Minor but Vista keeps reminding me to install drivers. I don't have the hardware, so I don't know why this has happened. Anyone know ? What to do at this point ?

Thanks !

A:Drivers Missing After Upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium

Solved by getting two drivers from ACER's web site. It wasn't obvious which ones I needed by the description in Device Manager but after Googling found several folks who had the same thing happen to them and also found which drivers were needed.

Hey guys, my hardrive burnt up so I went to a computer repair shop to see if He could check it out, when we were 100% it was done for he had a blank laptop hard drive he could sell me with a burnt windows 7 disk or charge 75$ extra to install it for me. I of course took the blank HD with the installation disk and went home and started it, but when I started the installation I got to the part where it requires drivers but it didn't find any on the disk.

My question is, since I'm going to have to get drivers, can I use a flashdrive to install the drivers? And if so, do I have to format the flashdrive or anything so it will read the drivers?

Please complete your System Specs. You can look them up by searching "system" in the Start menu search field, and clicking System or System Information; also by typing "dxdiag" there and hitting Enter, then browsing the tabs for the information.

Hi, yes, I did something really stupid! I was having major issues with laptop and as a last resort decided to reinstall Windows [should have been Vista]. However, I have two Dell Inspiron laptops and apparently used the wrong disc! I installed Windows XP. Now I have no internet as the Ethernet driver, and a few others, are showing errors. I looked in Device Manager etc and about 8 or 9 drivers were not installed.

Oh, and the correct Windows disc is in US with my computer wiz son, and I'm over in UK! So . . . . is there anyway to install the missing drivers? Or even get Dell or Microsoft to help me get the correct version of Windows to reinstall?

I have internet access on my mini Dell, and also on my desktop - which does have CD writer etc if I needed to download files. Or can that be done on memory stick?

Any help/suggestions would be very much appreciated. [minus the 'dumb woman' remarks!!! I've beat myself up sufficiently]

Thanks so much

After having trouble with the Win32 heur or W32.sality virus I lost my patient and Completly reinstalled Windows XP Media center edition...

I had bought my PC from packard bell and had support, cd-backup + instructions and everything registered to packard bell, My PC Was A Packard Bell.
Then later my motherboard got trouble and crashed alot... So I eventually bought a new one.

When my pc got the virus I wanted to use the CD-backup I had taken from the pc before the motherboard was changed and also had the support of packard bell.
But the CD did not boot because "information was not valid" and I couldn't use it to reformat and reinstall my Windows XP MC edition.

So I used my student version of the CD, my other cd that would install windows media center edition and also the key for that cd.
I formated everything and left no partition so that superdangerous-virus would die.

After the installation I have no more internet connection and missing drivers installed. I can't update windows because it requires internet which I don't have on that PC. I also no longer seem to have packard bell support.

How can I get those drivers installed on my pc? I have no clue what about the names :( :( :(

I was really tired when I wrote this, hope you understand.

Every post and advice will be greatly appreciated.

I recently reinstalled my Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit sp1 on my Dell Inspiron computer. Since then, the computer is not recognizing either of my USB wireless cards. When I try installing the adapters, it gives me an error saying "a device attached to the system is not functioning."

My mouse is a USB mouse and works just fine, but the adapters don't work when I plug them in that USB port.

Upon contacting Dell, they told me it was a problem with the USB wireless card. I find it hard to believe that it was a coincidence that I have two different wireless cards and neither of them work after reinstalling Windows Vista. Can anyone help?

The Wireless USB adapter that I am trying to use is a Wireless G WUA-1340 D-link adapter.

I have re-installed WIN 7 on my laptop. I did not have the cd's from Dell, so I purchased and used a WIN 7 disc. After re-installing WIN 7, my internet connection was not functioning. Under Device Manager, the following had yellow warning signs next to them:

Ethernet Controller
Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N+WiMax 6250
Network Controller
PCI Simple Communications Controller.

I am assuming that these devices are missing the drivers required for their operation. I tried running Intel_My_WiFi_Dashboard_15.1.1_s64. It told me I needed to install dotNetFx40_Full_Setup. I attempted to run this program, but a lack of an internet connection prevented it from completing. I am unsure of what to try next. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd go to Samsung support site with your good PC and locate the Ethernet driver for your particular model. Get it on a USB stick and install it to the PC with the driver problems.

I wouldn't be in a panic just because I had some yellow exclamation points in Device Manager. Instead, I'd investigate what expected functionality is missing.

Then possibly go back to Samsung and look for drivers to fix the missing functionality.

As of yesterday, my HP Envy 6z-1000 laptop acquired a hive error. Unable to fix it, I simply installed a clean boot of Windows 7. In doing so, the "Recovery Partition" that comes factory installed on the computer was formatted and I no longer have access to the Recovery options provided by HP. I have contacted HP, but they only encourage me to purchase the 3 part Recovery Disc set.

The laptop boots perfectly into Windows 7 Home Premium. However, a few devices do not have drivers according to the Device Manager, including:

Since I am unable to connect to the internet, I have been on two other computers downloading the drivers from the HP website for the HP Envy 6z-1000. Just as I normally would, I reboot the laptop to reload the drivers hoping that the Network Adapter would be recognized, but the adapter (and its drivers) is still not recognized. These all have yellow !'s on them

Ethernet Controller

Multimedia Audio Controller

It had OEM Win7 Home Premium 32-bit on it, but there was no CD key tag on the case anywhere when I got home, so I used the Magical Jellybean Keyfinder to get the key from the OS. The System window in Control Panel stated the install was supposedly "Genuine".

I used an OEM Win7 Home Premium 32-bit disk I had laying around to reinstall the OS...all is well, OS is reinstalled, but now the OS won't activate the supposedly "Genuine" key that I had before, giving me an 0xC004E003 error code...?

A:Reinstalled Win7 Home Premium - now Win7 won't activate?

This machine shipped with Vista installed (manufactured Oct 2008 and Windows 7 wasn't released until August 2009) - and cannot support a Windows 7 OEM_SLP Key such as this.
The earlier install must have been supported by a hacker's Activation Exploit.

The best option - if there is no COA sticker at all present - is to reinstall using the proper manufacturer's Recovery media for this machine.
Second best is to purchase a new Full Windows license.

Greetings Tech Support Guy, The computer I wish to purchase has Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled, with a ticket to purchase an upgrade To Windows 7 Home Premium.
As I wish to use Windows 7 immediately (without bothering with Vista Home Premium) can you please advise, in detail, how I can delete Vista completely and install Windows 7 with minimum fuss.
All help greatly appreciated,
With Best Regards

A:Replacing Vista Home Premium with Windows 7 Home Premium

When you get the Vista DVD, boot from it and choose Custom "advanced" installation. Then highlight the partition you want to put 7 on (preferably the Vista partition) then click "delete" (be careful which partition you choose) once the old Vista partition is deleted, be sure the new unallocated partition is highlighted and hit next to continue installing 7. Here is a screenshot, your partition structure may be slightly different.

So I downgraded from Vista to Xp home basic because I didn't like the way vista worked. Unfortunately something went wrong when I used my Xp boot disc and now I am missing the following devices:
Ethernet Controller
PCI Device
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Please help if you can, I have looked through countless forums and downloaded about 20 files already and I still haven't fixed anything.

A:Downgraded from Windows Vista to Windows XP Home Basic now I have missing drivers

First thing that needs to be clarified here, when you say "now I'm missing the following" what type of missing are we talking about here? Are the devices and such present inside your device manager and all that is missing here is their drivers? Or when you open up the device manager, all the above and stated hardware is gone? If this is a driver issue the fix or fixes could be relatively manageable. But if this is a case that nothing is there and indeed these devices aren't showing up with anything inside Windows, but you know they are there and still nothing, that might be a manageable thing to deal with, with the end result being perhaps a wipe of the disk and starting over from scratch. Maybe Windows didn't find these items when it was being installed for whatever reason or reasons. If you decide to install the O.S. again, I would first go into your computers BIOS and just with your own eye's, confirm the presence of these items, for if they are in BIOS and register fine, than they should translate over to Windows being able to find them as well. And while you are inside BIOS, doesn't hurt to make sure that nothing is switched off, just make sure all these items your talking about are activated or just active through BIOS and you should be fine.

Hello folks,

Looking for the best overall ATI drivers for Vista Premium and a 1950 agp card. I'm having issues with the refresh defaulting back to 60hz on start up. I've searched the forums here and the web for two weeks now with no solution has worked. So at this point I'm just trying to find the best drivers for a senior system.

Hello Sevenforums,
This is my first post so please tell me if I do anything wrong. After using Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade my Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate and restarting, I get the "BOOTMGR missing error". Interestingly, if I shut down the laptop at this screen and turn it on, it loads the OS selection screen perfectly (Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.10 dualboot).

I've tried the "repair windows" function, running the startup problems fixer, but to no luck.
Below is what came out from bcdedit:

A:"BOOTMGR missing" after upgrading Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate

Make sure Win7 HD is set first HD to boot in BIOS setup, Mark Active Win7 or it's 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred), run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until Win7 starts on its own.

Then use this method to Dual boot Ubuntu-Win7 which may help avoid GRUB irreparably corrupting Win7 when it's on the same HD.

Safest is to install each to separate HD's booted only via BIOS boot order or one-time BIOS Boot Menu.

Hey guys,

I want to upgrade my OS from Vista Home Premium to 7 Home Premium and I have the Anytime upgrade DVD (provided at the time when I bought my laptop which came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium). Since this is the first time I will ever try to upgrade my OS and I will be paying for it (lol) I wanted to clear a few doubts before I went about it. My current OS is a Deutsch (German) version. I want my new OS to be in English. So my question is -

Will the upgrade process provide me with the option to choose an installation language?

I researched a bit about language packs and if I'm not very wrong, Multiple language packs work only for Business and Ultimate versions but not for Basic and Home premium. Third party language packs like Vistalizator has been reported to work fine but Microsoft doesn't recommend it and some users have reported to have problems where it pops the message " your windows is not genuine".

So should I do an upgrade or just do a clean install with an original Windows 7 Home Premium DVD?

A:Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade

I am not sure about the answer regarding the language pack, but I am sure about the upgrade or the clean install. Do the clean install. A clean install is always preferred over an upgrade. With an upgrade all the old problems that may exist with the OS are just carried to the new installation.
Upgrades often fail, either because of third party software that is not compatible, or malicious software that breaks in the new install.
There are some members that back up their stuff and do a clean install on a regular basis to have the OS run smoothly as the first day. Trust me go with the clean install and enjoy your new OS

Hi all,
I am using home premium and IE8.
I have for nearly 2 years now had no problems with watching vids on win media player.
I have downloaded a "webinar" from a trading site...a vidoe file ending with .wmv
and when I click play the message box apears saying I have not got the correct codec to play this file!!!
I have downloaded freeware codecs such as FFDShow and AVI 6 but even after restarting it doesn't work.
Also after these were both installed the info at the bottom of the media player was all blurred as if done deliberately to stop reading of it.The "codec aquired" came up briefly in bottom left corner but when clicking play the same error box came up about a missing codec.
Any advice will be great on how I can find the right codec to play this file please.

I build a lot of the machines I have for folding ([email protected]_stanford) and my very first baby is breaking my heart. Last Wednesday, Windows Update had a non-critical update for nVidia GTX250. So, i downloaded then installed but noticed some screen flicker in animated sections of web pages. I started to roll the driver back and that's when I noticed the GTX whereas I actually had forgot, that machine has a GTS250. So, Monday night, off to the real nVidia download site and pulled the upgrade for my GTS250. Same screen flicker.

Yesterday morning I grapped that first cup of coffee and headed to the PC in my home office and the screen was black. I did the nasty and held in the power button for 6 seconds and restarted the machine. I did NOT hear Vista boot up, thinking that I would. Also, I run Network Magic on my 2 router 16 machine bridged (wirelessly) network and from another PC I looked at the dead PC and it showed no connectivity to the network. Then I noticed there was no light on the USB port expander dongle that hangs from a front of machine port.

I took the DVI connector up to the onboard DVI port and the only difference was the screen said to check the monitor cable, it also comes up with NO signal, going to sleep when I turn the power on and off on the monitor alone. So, I pulled out a 6 foot VGA cable and tried that from the 21" LCD HP monitor to the onboard VGA. No change. Tried another flat screen monitor, no change.

Took all connectors loose a... Read more
