Solved!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system
It's worked out well for many of us in the past.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)
Dear Sammy,
Welcome in lenovo community,
Please try to uninstall the touchpad driver from the device manager and check if the touchpad will work well with the Microsoft generic driver or not, and feed us back.

Joseph
Issue just started this morning. There is small mouse cursor inside a shadowy box that remains on the screen. I can use the mouse but it will dissappear and is slow. I saw a solution for another lenovo laptop running Windows 8 but nothing for a Flex 2 running Windows 10.

Lately my HP Pavilion 750n (Windows XP as the OS, 1.6 GHz Pentium 4 processor and 768 MB RAM) has developed an problem of the mouse cursor freezing. This is accompanied by a click sounding from the tower and the HD light comes on. The computer completely locks up, so I can't determine what is causing this since pressing the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys are inoperative. I have to unplug the power, then re-start to get the mouse working again. I have MSE as the security software. Scans with this show no viruses. Any idea what's going on?
The HP Pavilion 750n desktop is several years old, so it's a good probability the hard drive is failing.
The freezing mouse cursor and clicking sound from inside the tower reinforces that suspicion.
If the hard drive does need replacing and you don't have the original recovery disc kit available to install Windows XP, you can purchase it here.

Hi there,
My mouse cursor freezes once every ~30s for about 1~2s. It doesn't happen all the time, but I suspect it might happen because of the usage of postgreSQL, as I've seen 2 other people with the same problem who also used it.
I have tested another mouse, the problem persists. I've tried updating mouse/USB drivers as well, nothing helped.
My trackpad, however, doesn't stop working at any time.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Interesting how when you tested another mouse the issue persisted, but it works with the trackpad. Are both mice you tried (non-trackpad) wired or wireless?

First things first. Did you run Microsoft's upgrade adviser before upgrading to Windows 7 on this computer?

It seems like every 10-20 seconds, my cursor freezes in one spot for a split second, then it's fine. It's so repetitive, it's a nuisance and I can't finish up work I have to do on the computer. I'm really not sure what it is...switched USB ports three different times (USB laser mouse), so I'm clueless.

Read other answersHi.. I have had this problem for about a week now....
I have a sony vaio windows 7 IE 8 Laptop that I love and it is only a year old.
in the past 5 days the cursor on my logitech wireless mouse freezes. The only way to get out of it is ctrl. alt. del and it goes to my home screen and I cancel and the cursor comes back.. sometimes I go for hours and it doesnt
freeze and then sometimes it freezes every 5 minutes. there are times when I ctl. alt delete and it goes to my screen and I have to manually shutdown as even if I touch the pad on my laptop I cannot close it.. and of course when the cursor freezes
the screen freezes too.
Just to let you know that there is nothing wrong with my battery or mouse
as I have another one just like it and it does the same thing
I contacted Sony Vaio and they came in by remote and put in a patch
and said that should do the trick. but it did not...
any ideas....
do you need more info and if so what else would help in this situation.
I also play some games and that is when I most get this. and I have
the flash 102..... the latest version. and my java is uptodate.
I should also say that at times my IE8 says not responding.....
thanx Coco.
p.s.I have a friend who is very computer savy and comes in by remote
to fix things on my computer and this is stumping even him..
Where do you have your transmitter/receiver plugged in on the front or back of your machine?

Hi Baggy2014,
Have you checked a different mouse on the system to isolate the issue? Also, perform a clean boot on the system to check the same:
Clean Boot
Also, check the system under safe mode and let us know if it occurs there as well:
Safe Mode
Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.
Since the issue I'm having is roughly equivalent to Windows itself hanging, I figured this would be the best place.
What is happening is that Windows freezes and I can't interact with anything on the screen. CTRL-ALT-DEL and CTRL-SHFT-ESC methods to try to bring up the task manager do not work. I am, however, able to move the mouse when this is happening, but cannot interact with anything. The only thing that returns my system to normal is a hard boot . Over a 2 week period, it has happened at an increasing rate, but my system has run completely stable for something like 5-6 years now. I formatted and reinstalled windows in hopes of a fix, but it's still happening.

Hi,
I have windows vista.
A couple of weeks ago someone on here assisted me with my computer. I had search engine redirect, along with other problems.
It was okay for awhile but then all of a sudden it started working very badly now. One thing is norton 360 seemed to disappear from my computer. I got directions and uninstalled norton and then reinstalled it again, now the norton seems to be working okay.
But since then, the mouse cursor has been moving erratically, totally disappearing and freezing up the whole screen. The screen keeps flashing to blank screens or my previous screen for a few seconds and then coming back to the screen I am on. It is having problems restarting alot of times and sometimes I can not even do anything before it freezes. I have started it in safe mode with networking and still seemed to have the same problems. The mouse pointer was still moving erratically and not working well. Just in the time that I have typed this so far the screen has flashed to a previous screen 4 times.
I have run norton scans and I dont think it is finding to much but tracking cookies.
Any other help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kim
Hello Kim,,, may be having a hard drive beginning to fail or file corruption. I would recommend immediate backupo of important files in case. Probably not a malware issue. So I 'd run SFC and if you still hae trouble ask this in Vista and they can check your drive and other things. Please run SFC (System File Checker) Please run System File Checker sfc /scannow... For more information on this tool see How To Use Sfc.exe To Repair System FilesNOTE for Vista/WIN 7 users..The command needs to be run from an Elevated Command Prompt.Click Start, type cmd into the Start/Search box,right-click cmd.exe in the list above and select 'Run as Administrator'You will need your operating system CD handy.Open Windows Task Manager....by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESCThen click File.. then New Task(Run)In the box that opens type sfc /scannow ......There is a space between c and /Click OKLet it run and insert the CD when asked.
Read other 3 answersI purchased a A485 and worked well but quickly replaced Mech harddrive with SSD. After reinstalling windows 10 I noticed I loss the function of the backlit keyboard, as well as my mouse cursor kept freeze when using the Track point when I would use the middle button for scrolling. all drivers up-to-date and even tried reinstalling windows and drivers again...still have this issue the mouse freezing is the must fustrating since I primarily use the Trackpoint to control my mouse functions. I found that locking (windows + L) and login back in frees up the mouse again...but typically freezes shortly after pretty fustrating, especially when one of the main reasons I buy Lenovo is their trackpoint. I've seen people have similar issues but no resolutions in their threads.

Hi and Welcome to TSF!
It most certainly could be the PSU.
What is the 12V, 3.3V, 5V, and VCORE voltages within the BIOS?
I have a Windows 7 multi-touch device and every time i touch the screen i get a mouse graphic. Its really annoying
because it has a tendency to get in the way when i am tapping around with my fingers on the screen. can i remove and have only cursor arrow without mouse. i know there is a option but i need only cursor arrow. is it possible with any registry edit option.
I have a Windows 7 mutli touch device and every time i touch the screen i get a stupid mouse graphic. Its really annoying because it has a tendency to get in the way when i am tapping around with my fingers on the screen. I have been unable to find anything
about such a "feature" on the webs. As various combinations including "mouse" and "graphic" and "windows 7" are pretty vanilla search terms.
I am guessing it is some lame "accessability" feature but i have no idea how to fix. please help
That is called the Touch Pointer, its easy to turn off once you know where to look.
Click Start, type pen in the search box or open control panel aand click Pen and touch.
Click the touch tab and uncheck Show the touch pointer... then just click ok to close the dialog and the ghostly mouse picture will be gone.
1. Optical USB mouse won't move the cursor.
2. Mouse buttons function properly
3. Bought a new similar mouse, same problem, ruling out damaged mouse likelihood.
4. Have tried multiple USB slots. Have tried rebooting. Have tried uninstalling the driver and rebooting.
5. Saw somewhere to remove battery but I'm in a hotel and have no screwdriver to do so.
Really need to fix this as my shoulder is becoming inflamed reaching to the mousepad. Help?
Toshiba Satellite M50, Win7.
Have mercy, all. I know this isn't a mouse hardware issue...must be something solvable. Any help?
Gratefully,
Cham
This seems to happen mostly after alt tabbing from a game or even after closing a game. It doesn't matter if the game is full screen or borderless window.
What happens is that the cursor seems to not change into the appropriate cursor (or when it does it does it slowly), i.e. if I mouse over links I still get the arrow cursor instead of the hand cursor. The most annoying aspect is when it turns in to a text cursor split in half (see screenshot), it seems to go away after a while and returns to normal functionality, usually after moving it quite a bit.
I have tried changing the cursor style then changing back, as well as turning trails on and off.
Sorry for the quality of the screenshot I had to take it with my phone because I can't seem to capture the cursor. Happy to give more information on my system if required just not sure what you'd need atm.
Hi,
my mouse cursor- an optical usb - is stuck in the middle of the screen. The mouse works, as I can still scroll on a webpage with it, and click on icons, but the cursor won't budge. I've also tried a PS-2 mouse, same issue, and have tested every USB port and all work fine so it is NOT a hardware issue that I can see. I've tried rebooting and doing a system restore, and I have the same issue in safe mode. When I go to device manager, it rcognizes the device and says everything is working properly. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, nothing. Everything else seems to be fine on my PC. Any help will be most appreciated, thank you!

Is this a laptop or a desktop? What is the make and model# of your computer/motherboard?
Boot into Setup (Bios) go to Integrated Peripherals look for Legacy USB or USB mouse, if it is disabled, using the arrow key, Enable it. Save and Exit.
Go to the computer manufacturers support/download drivers site. type in your make and model # and download the Chipset driver (for USB Support)
Also, go to Start/Search and type CMD Right click the CMD results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Command Prompt type SFC /scannow and press enter. This will replace any missing or corrupted system files.
Hi,It appears I somehow deactivated my touchpad or something along those lines as my mouse pointer/cursor has completely disappeared? It was working fine yesterday, and I think the only thing that might have triggered this is that I accidentally pressed some keys (unsure of which ones, so I don't even know how to reverse it). I've tried restarting, as well as looked through some of the mouse/touchpad settings to no avail. If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it (I'm currently relying on my fingers and the touchscreen which isn't as convenient)
Read other answersHello! So I've been having this issue where my laptop keeps freezing an hour or so into using it. I've checked my storage space and my ram and it's all ok. My laptop isn't overheating either as I have a table with a fan built in underneath. I'm not sure what's causing the problem. I can move my mouse and my music still works but my screen is frozen. I'm also unable to alt tab or use ctrl alt del. I've resorted to having to power reset everytime my laptop fails. Please advise me on what to do and thank you very much!
Read other answersMy mouse cursor will randomly freeze or disappear, yet it remains active. I can still use it by feel. If I turn mouse trails on a duplicate mouse shows up that works and the frozen one remains, although its not completely frozen as it will still change into other cursors ie the hourglass. Eventually mouse trails turn off all on its own and im left with no cursor again. I've updated drivers and checked all the settings and am left with no solution. Any help would be very appreciated.
Hi I'm having a problem that I really can't seem to resolve: the image of my cursor freezes about 5 seconds after I log in, but the actual pointer still works i.e. I can still use the mouse, it's just that the cursor doesn't correspond to what I'm actually pointing at. At first this occurred randomly, sometimes after 25-30 mins of use, but now it does it every time, straight away.
One way I've found to get around it is to turn on mouse trails at the lowest setting, this lets me see the trails of the cursor (at the correct location), which at least lets me know what I'm clicking on.
I've tried:
Removing and reinstalling the drivers
Trying a different (ps/2) mouse
Trying a different USB port
Removing spyware etc with Spybot, AVG
Updating to the latest drivers
Updating Windows (which is when it changed from being random to every time)
Any ideas on this one?
Thanks in advance! James
Hi,I have a Dell Inspiron 5559 running Windows 10. Recently my mouse cursor seems to have disappeared and the touchpad tab under mouse settings is also gone. I tried downloading the driver from the support page but nothing seems to have changed.Any help please?Sarah
Read other answersHi Guys, so I've just finished a HTPC build and using HippoRemote on the iPhone to control Windows. Works great if I have a mouse plugged in but as soon as I remove the mouse the cursor hides itself. I can still click on things etc but it makes it pretty hard to do without the cursor being visible.
Is there a way to force Windows 8 to always show the cursor? I'm guessing it disables the cursor if no mouse is plugged in so one option is to buy a wireless mouse dongle and plug that in to trick Windows into thinking I am using a mouse, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Chris
Hi. The other day my mouse-cursor just started to move and wiggle, chaotically, and by itself towards the right side of the screen.. I have tried to switch mouse and unplug, but it doesn't help, so I figure it has to be some kind of virus or malware, yea? When it happened I installed Trend Micro Internet Security and ran a scan of my computer. It came up with one so called "generic Trojan" named "services.exe" located in C:/Windows AND one virus named "a.exe" located in C:/Windows/System32.
I went into the windows folder and found the trojan file "services.exe" to maybe try and delete it, dunno if I should've, but I was pretty aggrevated at the time, but anyway I couldn't because I needed "permission" from vista. I also looked up the virus file called "a.exe" in the system32 folder, where trend micro told me it was, but I could not find it in any searches.
Anyway, this is all very frustrating to me, because I use my computer for work, and obviously a chaotically, wiggly mouse makes it quite hard for me to do anything at all.. so I would highly appreciate some help with getting rid of whatever it is doing this!
Thanks!

Welcome to TSF hoofbite,
Noooo, you sure do not want to be deleting files you are not sure of, and especially those like "services.exe" which is usually an essential (and protected) system file. Not seeing any infection here so far - let's run a repair scan then check after.
To keep them from interfering with the repairs, be sure to temporarily disable all antivirus/anti-spyware softwares while these steps are being completed. This can usually be done through right clicking the software's Taskbar icons, or accessing each software through Start - Programs.
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here.
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform quick scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply.... Read more
The following is a problem other people on here have experienced, but in most cases no solution was found and the solutions I have found on google do not apply to my case - at least not without tweaks. I am pretty sure I will need someone with extensive knowledge about drivers or the windows registry in order to ever be able to fix this myself. Unless of course Lenovo/ALPS decide to take responsibility for their hardware design. If you can help me, thank you tons. I love every other part of my new notebook, and if imprecise mouse movement would end up screwing with my experience on it forever, that would be a pity. The issue I have is that my/the Flex 2-15 20405 has a touch pad where the keys are part of the motion-sensitive touchpad surface. Gliding the finger over them will move the cursor. The obvious reason why this is problematic is that the cursor moving while clicking causes the clicks either to miss, or to hit something that the cursor did not originally rest on when the button was meant to be pressed. Meanwhile, the ability of moving the cursor *on my buttons* serves absolutly no purpose whatsoever to me.[Sidenote: I think Alps aleady did their part to start making the problem less of an issue. If all gestures are deactivated, and my index finger is resting where it moved the cursor, then I can use my thumb to press the buttons without causing any movement, because the finger above the keys takes priority in controlling the cursor. That is pre... Read more

Anyways, here's my problem, every few or so seconds my mouse cursor will have the spiral circle and it will act as if I clicked onto the toolbar at the bottom. For example, if I am typing an assignment, I will have to constantly click on the text box to start typing again. This is a very serious and annoying problem.
Please help me!
Maybe uninstall and update your mouse drivers:

I have an Ideapad Flex 4- 1570 with Windows 10. When I left mouse click the mouse pad on the scroll bar or some parts of an applications window, it starts Windows 10 Search Window. I've updated the mouse drivers to the latest version with out success. Any thoughts on how to fix. Thanks.

I have a Logitech wireless optical mouse which has just started freezing the cursor. Sometimes I can see it and it won't move unless I left click on the mouse. At other times it will disappear right off the desktop and not reappear until I left click. Any ideas why?
I am running Widows XP and the battery is good. I updated the software but still have the problem.
Which version of Windows are you using? If XP, which version of XP? Which service pack?
RIGHT click on "my computer".
Left click "properties".
Which Logitech mouse are you using?
How often does this happen? For how long have you used the Logitech mouse?
Can you relate the onset of the problem to the installation or removal of hardware or software, to include Windows, AntiMaware, or other updates?
Do you have another mouse? If so, turn off the computer. Leave the Logitech wireless mouse connected.
Connect the other mouse. Turn on the computer. Determine if the cursor freezes because of a malfunctioning LogiTech device, or a computer / Windows problem.
With only the Logitech mouse attached, boot to safe mode by tapping the F8 key, once a second, after starting up the computer. Using your up / down arrows, highlight / select "safe mode". Press enter. Enter your password, if necessary. Left click "ok" or "yes" when advised that the computer is running in safe mode.
Use the computer for twice as long as it usually takes for the problem to appear. If the problem occurs, report your results. If the problem does not occur, report your results.

Hello,
Well i like to play alot of first person shooter games and have not had this problem till now.Recently i downloaded this multiplayer game called Global operations public beta.It had it problems and they released a patch for it,i downloaded it,installed it,and then is when the problem started.I thought it was just the game itself,I would be playing normally then my mouse would either totally stop or it would get really......really......REALLY......s l o... w,the other movements work on my keyboard still,to move backward and forward.
At this point it is unplayable so i leave the game and when i get to my desktop the cursor is still stuck(or slow).I have to use the keyboard to reboot. Then the other day i got sick of it and went to play another game that i didnt have problems with before and it did in this game now!So i tried 2 more games(that i never had any big problems with)and sure enough...it was doing it on these games now TOO!!!.Also somtimes just surfing the net it does it,but not as fast as when im playing a game.If anybody can help me with this problem I would really appreciate it,Maybe the patch has somthing to do with it!?? THX.

Read other 1 answersI recently upgraded my computer by adding a PIII 800 processor, 256 megs of RAM and an Intel D815EEA2 motherboard. I also own a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer. Anyway, after the upgrade I've encountered a problem with the mouse when I'm using the internet. Sometimes it takes an hour or two, other times it happens within minutes, but the mouse cursor always freezes in place and the internet stops transmitting information. It doesn't really disconnect, it still says I'm connected but the incoming and outgoing bytes remain static. The mouse still works and I can move it around and click on things, but the cursor is stationary. In fact, as I was writing this it happened and I had to save this on notepad and restart the computer.
I've tried updating my drivers and changing my mouse from the pin connector to USB but neither worked. I uninstalled my modem and changed my BIOS PnP settings to "no" as described here: http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?threadid=31021 but nothing worked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My laptop will unexpectly move the mouse to the upper right hand corner. It will also occasionally open up the action center window or settings windows. It also sometime dims the display. This has been very frustrating. I have tried a lot of recommendations online but nothing appears to work. Also while it is doing this I notice circles on the right had side of the display that come and go. It is almost like someone is controlling my laptop.
Read other answersThis is a slight annoyance that seems to keep popping back up.
The cursor that turns to a teal circle when busy freezes after using the computer for like 3 minutes.
I don't know why this happens, but cycling the cursor scheme temporarily fixes it.
This is the cursor I'm talking about: Windows 7 “busy” cursor misses a beat - istartedsomething
Does anyone know what the problem is?

I'm having the same problem on my wife's laptop. The computer boots just fine, but anywhere from 3 minute to 3 hours, the curser will go "busy" and programs will start to say "not responding". CTL-ALT-DLT won't work, nothing does anything. Left it overnight once, still stuck in the morning. The only way I got it to go away was by manually powering down. Then on reboot, about half the time it wants to run scan-disk. Then, if I do anything, it freezes again. Not sure where to go from here, but I"m about to throw the thing through the wall. I built my desktop myself...figured I'd try a "brand" name...yup, big mistake. Never again will I buy a computer that I don't build myself. Running a Dell Inspiron 1545, Intel Duo-core with 4gb of ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area.
I have a new HP Pavillon Laptop. The cursor keeps freezing and I can't do anything. I have to shut the computer off physically.
I know this is not good for the computer.
I use a touchpad. I cannot say when it freezes, it just does it randomly and at least once a day.
Any ideas?
I have had this issue with my Compaq CQ58 laptop for a while now. My mouse freezes randomly when I'm using my touch pad, making me have to close my laptop and open it again for my touch pad to start working, this sometimes can take a while for it to start back working. Someone please tell me what to do this is becoming really annoying when i have to keep closing my laptop to get my touchpad to stop freezing.
Hi @micha64?, Kindly try updating Synaptics TouchPad Driver on the unit. Compaq Presario CQ58 Drivers: Choose Operating System and download Synaptics TouchPad Driver on the unit. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/Compaq-Presario-CQ58-Notebook-PC-series/5259203/mode... Welcome Red,
I just fixed the same problem with my computer yesterday - Been great since.
Go to control panel - device manager and remove the modem.
restart the computer, go into the bios settings and set PNP INSTALLED to no (or disabled)
Restart the computer and Windows will assign new resources and should fix your problem.
You might be prompted for the modem drivers so make sure you have them handy.
