I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I'm assuming windows 10(or windows 8.1) is on the system....
I'd suggest you use System Restore tool on the system. At the left bottom taskbar, right click windows icon, click System, and then System Protection.

First off, YES MY COMPUTER HAS TOUCH SCREEN. I went through the trouble shooting guide to try and figure out what was wrong with it. When I search windows for "view pen and touch info", it comes back saying "no pen or touch input is available for this display." It is my understanding that this means my computer doesn't support touch, however I have used the touch screen on my computer before, I know it has it. Is there any possible way I may have accidentally uninstalled something required to us touchscreen on my computer? Is there anything that can be done to fix this problem?

Hi @yukesh93 , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-n033tx Ultrabook and issues with the Touchscreen and  Windows 8.1. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot this Touchscreen with Windows 8.1. Please start  at the top and work your way down. Please let me know if something does not finish correctly. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. If this does not resolve the Touchscreen try to perform a System restore. Please let me know. Thanks.

My touchscreen does not work consistently. I removed Windows 10 and restored 8.1. I performed a factory reset. I have tried everything suggested on various forums and after what looked like potentially helpful responses on this forum, none of them worked. I have now discovered that if I run Command Prompt as an Administrator and enter sfc /scannow, part way through touchscreen starts working. However, it does say that not all processes could be rectified. Touchscreen then works for a while, and when it next stops, running sfc /scannow again does the trick. Is this a Registry fault? Can I fix Registry problems without loading unwanted costly software? Any ideas? My process of Command Prompt (as Administrator) then sfc /scannow doesn't take long, but is a bit of a nuisance! Help! Gordon

A user on another forum who had the same problem said that is was an issue with the HID devices that correspond to the touchscreen getting disabled. Here the quote: SOLUTION that WORKED for ME:Goto Windows Device Manager (WDM) @ section, "Human Interface Devices" (HID).Note, you will NOT see anything labeled, "Touchscreen" in the entire HID list.Right-Click menu for each HID should look like the following list:      "Update Driver Software..."     "Disable"     "Uninstall"     "--------------"     "Scan for hardware changes"     "--------------"     "Properties" Obviously, if the right-click menu's 2nd item = "Disable" then it's already EnabledSOLUTION is to ENABLE each HID that 2nd item = "Enable" ALL OF THIS WOULD'VE BEEN MUCH EASIER IF THE DISABLED HID WAS LABELED, "TOUCHSCREEN"but sad to say it wasn't... and that's why I had to check each HID if it was enabled or not.

Hey everyone, I picked up my Yoga today, and I love it. However, about an hour ago the touchscreen went completely unresponsive. The last thing I remeber doing, before noticing the touchscreen becoming unresponsive, was installing the Android SDK. (Well, I ran the installer, but it didn't recognize JDK). So, here I am, with the touchscreen not functional at all. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried the "refresh" and that didn't work. I'm probably going to try the wipe/clean install option in a bit. I guess that would tell me for certain if it's a hardware problem or not. I'm really hoping this isn't a design flaw with the 360 hinge causing issues. I really like the laptop, and would rather not have to deal with hardware issues like this down the road. :/ I'll be calling support in the morning, but was hoping to get this resolved tonight if anyone has had a similar problem.  Thanks!

A few months ago I started experiencing problem with constant error of I2C HID driver on my Yoga 510-15ISK. I used to "solve it" by turning the driver off and on in device manager and it worked for some time. This week it said that "A request for the HID descriptor failed" (code 10) and I can't do anything with it. I tried to update and reinstall the driver, online Lenovo diagnostic, Windows troubleshooting with no luck. Is there anything else that I can do besides sending Yoga to service? Help, please! Windows 10 Home x64Intel i5-6200 2.3 GHz8GB RAM

I have a P4 2.4GHz, 512 RAM, 40 Gig HDD with 6 USB and 4 Card reader and CDRW-DVD. The mother board is intel 82845G chipset.

The machine is connected to a photoprinter and used as an input device for printing photographs from USb sticks and other cards such as SD from mobile phones and digital cameras.

The machine runs on windows 2000 Pro + SP4 and has Photo Teller software for its image manipulation. That is all it runs and it is not on the internet.

The machine has ELO Touchscreen built in which is used as the input device. It can emulate either a serial mouse or a USB mouse. Currently it is setup to use serial emulation on COM3.

Until last week everything was fine, however, upon reboot a problem occurred when the OS would not load. I ran a windows 2000 Pro repair on it which solved the problem but that only lasted a day and the problem returned. No further amount of repair could solve the problem.

I reformatted and reinstalled the entire suite but now the touchscreen is not working. The drivers install and everything is OK. There is no problem in Device Manager but when I run the touchscreen utility it informs me 'Touch Screen Type: Not Available'.

I can see the utility running in the Task Bar, and Device Manager shows it as installed as a Serial mouse.

I have run all kinds of diagnostics etc but cannot get it to function. It is imperative to have the touchscreen working.

I would appreciate all and any help to sort this out.

Less than a month ago I purchased a touch screen HP Notebook with WIndows 10 Home 64-bit My touchscreen worked just fine the other day.  When I shut it down it did some updates.  Today is my first time using it since the updates and my touchscreen isnt responsive.  No matter where I touch the screen, nothing happens.  I have restarted the computer, cleaned the screen- neither work.I do not have any options to calibrate my touchscreen settings like my computer has suggested. I really do not want to have to make phone calls or send in the laptop, I am looking for a solution I can fix on my own.  What should I do??

The touchscreen on my HP Pavilion 14-b141sa laptop stopped working yesterday morning. It was intermittently failing to register touch for a while but now it doesn't respond at all. It did this before a couple of years ago, but luckily I was able to fix it earlier this year thanks to a SoftPaq called SP63116. Now it has stopped working once again and SP63116 doesn't help when I run it. I tried all of the troubleshooting advice on this page, the official HP help page (short of fully reseting/restoring the system) but none of those solutions worked either. To be clear, I tried checking everything in device manager, hard reseting, reinstalling the touchscreen driver, installing all available updates, checking I had the latest BIOS and drivers (Couldn't do a component test; that option wasn't on my F2 start-up check anymore strangely...)And as I said, I tried SP63116 again but all it does, after going through the set-up screens, is flash up for a moment then disappear without doing anything. I'm suspecting because I used it once before/it's out of date. Any help? It's not the end of the world not to have a touchscreen but it is useful sometimes.(If it's at all relevant, the battery on the laptop is a bit old and is getting the message it needs replacing. I doubt that would be affecting it though)

Hi all, I've seen a few other posts on this subject, but haven't noticed anything too recent.  I've run into an issue with my brand new Yoga 720 where my touch screen fails to work.  Upon opening device manager, I see that my Wacom Device has a little alert next to it.  The error reported by the device is: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)  A request for the HID descriptor failed." I have tried to reinstall the driver multiple times.  I've grabbed both the Lenovo and the Wacom versions of the driver with no success. I just got the machine today.  The touch screen did not work during the initial installation process, so I don't think the updates are what killed it (as reported elsewhere).  It's also not promising that things magically started to work again after some amount of time. I suppose I don't mind taking the laptop back, but it's otherwise such a nice little laptop (widespread issues with cheap display parts notwithstanding) that I'd really like to be able to hang on to it. Any assistance and / or updates on this problem would be appreciated!

Hi there!  I've had my Lenovo Yoga ThinkPad 14 for less than two weeks, and I'm having some issues. For some reason, when I use the pen, I sometimes can not use the touchscreen with my fingers or another non-active stylus afterwards. Both the pen and the touchpad still work, but not the actual screen itself. It doesn't last forever, but I haven't found anything that fixes the problem immediately - even putting it to sleep doesn't work sometimes. I've tried taking the computer in and out of tablet mode, replacing the pen in the charging port, etc. I have also run the latest updates on my computer, and have had the issue both before and after. It just decides to stop working and then I have to wait until it decides to start working again. Frustrating when you're trying to take notes during a big phone call for work! I only have two or three days left to return the computer if this is a major issue, so I have two questions, really. 1) Does it seem like a software problem or a hardware problem? I.E. Is there a driver or something I can download to update a fix or something? Or do I need to get the laptop itself looked at? And 2) Is this a common problem? I've seen other posts about similar issues, but they seem to be a constant issue, not an intermittent one like mine.  Any help or advice would be appreciated! I don't want to get stuck with a half-functioning laptop because I didn't return it in time, but I also still like the computer itself.  ... Read more

Hi thereFew months ago I bought a Yoga 520, and I never had any problems with it. Mostly used it for work, and drawing with my wacom tablet. Tried the touch screen a few times, everything was fine. However, today I wanted to try drawing with my finger on the screen, and I realised the touch function of the touchscreen is not working. I always allow WIN10 to update itself, but since I'm not using the touch function regularly I couldn't say when it stopped working. What I've tried so far:Updated drivers, all of them. Checked Lenovo Vantage for new drivers, everything is the latest. Tried uninstalling the driver of the Wacom device from device manager. (btw in device manager, the wacom device has a yellow ! and on the Properties windows it says 'A request for the HID descriptor failed'.Again, installed every driver from Lenovo Support page I could. Tried basically everything suggested in the similar topics in this forum, and on Microsoft's page. Please tell me, you have something figured out other than 'reinstall your PC', because I don't think a notebook in this price range should be reinstalled after 3 months. Is it because a windows update? So should I wait for another update to fix this, or should I just bring it back to where I bought it?Thanks in advance, have a nice day.

My t560 running win7 pro has a touch screen. Windows says I don't have a touch screen ("No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display"). I am assuming it must be disabled somewhere or have driver issues (?), but I can't find a solution (or even a good description of what is happening). anyone have experience with this?

I seem to have a problem with my touchscreen not working.  I'm not sure what happened.  I tend not to restart my laptop right away after updates and one day it rebooted itself in the middle of the night and I woke up to the touchscreen not working. There doesn't even seem to be a HID device in the device manager, suggesting it's not detecting it for some reason. I know sometimes these devices are children of other devices (perhaps something to do with USB?), and I have some devices that say they cannot start as well. Any help if figuring this out would be appreciated.
