Preferred Solution: Microsoft Teams Web Client Encryption Levels.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Every time I login to my PC microsoft teams opens. This started around a week ago. I have it disabled in task manager and have uninstalled it multiple times through control panel and going to C:\Users\(my user)\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft and C:\Users\(my user)\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft Teams and deleted everything related to it that I could see. Yet it continues to open at startup for whatever reason and seemingly reinstall itself. I have tried scanning with Malwarebytes and Windows Defender to no avail. Restarting does nothing and I have no pending updates in windows update. I never prompted this, and was never even aware that MS Teams existed before this happened. How can I stop this from happening?

There was a previous thread in this forum, started by another Lenovo user with basically the same question. But I am not convinced the answer given was correct! User "Jack_Lenovo1" answered: 2048 levels with the "Thinkpad Pen Pro".Now, if I go to this official Lenovo website:http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Think_Tablets_and_Convertibles/ThinkPad_L390_YogaAnd check "accessories" and choose "machine: NT" and then I go to the "Pens & Supplies" category, that official website suggests two very different Pens with similar names:1. "Lenovo Thinkpad Pen Pro", the one mentioned in that other thread.2. "Thinkpad Pen Pro for L380 Yoga" 4X80R07945 Please note that both pens seem to be somewhat different (both in style and in tech specs!), but both carry "Thinkpad Pen Pro" in their name! I don't think user Jack_Lenovo1 is aware that there is more than one pen! The 1st has 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity, the second pen "for L380 Yoga" officially has 4096 levels:https://accessorysmartfind.lenovo.com/#/products/4X80R07945 I had also checked other resources, including:"Worldwide Option Compatibility Matrix (OCM) - July, 2019", a giant Excel file. This Excel file confirmed compatibility to the pen with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. Obviously this should be the pen that the laptop ships with if you choose a model that ships with a pen - because obviously it is a pen that can be inserted into the laptop so it charges. I think it would make no sense whats... Read more

I have a NAS configured with max SMB protocol 3.0, and can select encryption mode Auto/Force. I have verified that my Windows 8.1 client uses SMB encryption
when mode is Force, and no encryption when mode is Auto. Now I would like to select mode Auto and still force the Windows 8.1 client to enable (require) encryption, because other clients don't support encryption they can't connect when NAS mode is Force.
The clients is in a workgroup, not domain. Is there a registry/setting for Windows 8.1 client that will force it to use SMB 3.0 encryption when available from server, even though server doesn't require it?

Here is a blog article about using power shell to configure Encryption in SMB3
?Encryption configuration is offered at two levels; global (session) and share. Global level encryption is for all the shares that are accessed under an encrypted session. On the other hand, it is possible to enable encryption at a share level and encryption
will be enforced when the encrypted share is accessed, when the session in not encrypted.

To configure global level encryption, set the following parameter using Power Shell cmdlets that are specifically written for this new version of SMB.?
For the group policy, we have 3 relevant policy for SMB client/server
?Digitally sign communications (always)
?Digitally sign communications (if server agrees)
?Send unencrypted password to third-party SMB servers
Windows operating systems include both a server SMB component and a client SMB component, and these are configured separately. Thus a computer can be configured to require packet signing when acting as an SMB server but not when acting as an SMB client.
Navigate in the left pane?s tree to Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Local Policies | Security Options.
If you prefer to make changes via the registry, in your registry editor navigate to the following keys:

I have an EliteBook 850 G3 with windows 7 pro 64.  I enabled hard drive encryption within HP Client Security.  Now on boot it asks me for a pre-boot password.  GREAT!  I like that.  However, it is tied to my local account.  I would really like it to encrypt the hard drive, and ask for a pre-boot password in order to decrypt.  BUT I want to be able to use it for ALL domain users.  So if someone else needs to access the laptop quick, they just enter their info and they are in. Is there a way to do that?  the computer is on my domain.  I see how I can add additional users, but it says I need to know the users password, AND I need to add each user one at a time.  Any thoughts?  or is it just how it works?

I am trying to determine if the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard has AES encryption but the technical data sheet (linked at the end of this post) does not state this.  Before I can use this keyboard at work I need to demonstrate that it is encrypted.
I have search high and low and not found any direct confirmation for this keyboard.  I even tried ringing Microsoft but after being shoved around 4 different people (who kept saying I should plug the dongle in my laptop) I got nowhere.
Can anyone confirm that this keyboard does use AES encryption and for a bonus point is there a MS White Paper on their encryption methodology?

We've found (on some customers) a new wave of attacks over non-protected or up to date Microsoft Server 2003 (even there is no kind of support nowadays for it)
We think this attack and encryption has some similar actions as in 2014 appeared to be spreading but ...
Ok, the information:
Two Servers, both with Microsoft Server 2003 and remote access not secured (weak password)
First Server lost all data and after the attack only appears a big file named BACKUP (> 10GB) and the text (russian pirate) asking for 3000€ to recover the data sending an email to a 'mail.ru' address with the IP as reference (curious)
Second Server that performs the data backup over a NAS lost all data from it and also the NAS (which was linked to), appearing TWO big files named BACKUP-1 and BACKUP-2 also, theorically, encrypted
Seems they made somekind of encrypted wallet (as old time before) and put all the data inside, just moving it (so, no way to look for deleted data)
We can not send more info at the moment, we only have the big files and nothing more, a plain text with short instructions to do.
Any idea? We think this new wave of attacks respond to an old vulnerability not covered or repaired, so now the dammage is done and we would like to know if there is some kind of hope for these customers or the new ones that soon will appear.

This started today when I found a w32 Trojan using spybot S&D! Since I removed this nasty I cant update windows or uninstall MSE! I've used windows defender offline and nothing... I've tried many other scanners..in the process of using avast to scan for anything that shouldn't be there!

Just to be clear My Windows 7 OS is 100% genuine
I was using MSE

try restoring your system to before this problem started--say--maybe yesterday (or most recent to today)--then -- REMOVE spybot S&D -- then try updating your MSE (it sounds like spybot found a false positive and removing it disabled MSE).

I'm new to the forum. I looked through several postings for my answer, but none answered my question completely.
Q1: My PC crashed last week with a missing file: hal.dll. I spoke with a techie who said we needed to reinstall windows xp, which he did. But he didn't recreate my network connections so I did it myself.
Of course I didn't remember what my original settings were since I've had this pc a long time. I have a roommate and we share a router. She's connected to the router directly and I use a wireless adapter. In working thru the re-installation process I see the client for ms networks and file sharing options are checked. We don't share any files, so I unchecked them. But they seem to get rechecked each time I logon.
I've read that I can uninstall 'client' with no impact to my wireless connectivity, but after spending a week rebuilding my system, I don't want to do ANYTHING without being sure.
I use my pc for business and it's already cost me a lot in lost time. Can I just uninstall client?
Q2: Since I rebuilt my internet connections my logon window changed from the big blue windows login screen to the small blue and white one that I used to see when I had a job at a company. I think it has to do with being part of a network, which I'm not. How do I restore my login screen to the original big blue window?

I've got a fresh Vista Ultimate installation. At first time when I connected to my other pc's shared folders (with cd \\server\ command) everything worked fine. But next day, I just couldn't connect to the shares again.
Earlier the same thing happened under Windows Server 2003 on this computer: the required services (named Server and Workstation) was just missing, so the solution was to remove and reinstall file sharing and client for microsoft networks.
Now on Vista, I don't know if these services name's are the same, but I tried to do the same to see if it helps. Under the network settings, I could easily remove both of these services, and I could reinstall file and printer sharing for microsoft networks, but everytime when I select client for microsoft networks to install, it says:
"Could not add the requested feature. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified." And not more.

I would like to now how to find out which file is missing (and why), and how could be restored.

Thank You for any advice!

Hi all!

Stop: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session manager initialization system process
terminated unexpectedly with a status of
0xc000026c (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down."

I have been able to boot in safe mode and access Dr Watson.

In the textbox labelled "Application Error" there was this messaage:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client\MsMpEng.exe c0000005 msvcrt!memcpy(77C16FA3)

I tried to copy user.dmp to my memory stick, but the system didn't allow me. So I copied Dr. Watson log to a text file (it is attached).

Is there a solution apart from re-install Windows (I don't have the CD, I am running an OEM installation).

Can you help me?

A:BSOD - Dr Watson log says the culprit is Microsoft Security Client

Is this a new install or a XP install that has been running correctly and stopped?
Have you installed any new programs just before the problem occurred?

Also lets see if the actual .dmp can tell us anything.
Download and run this application: BSOD_XP_v1.3_jcgriff2_PROD.exe.
Once it has finished running zip the folder TSF_XP_Support which can be found in your Documents folder.
Attach the zipped file to your next post.

AT+CMGW="91234567"<CR>Text of message.<Ctrl+z>

How can this be done? How can I tell putty or the Hyperterminal client to recognise <CR> as a carriage return and <Ctrl+z> as they key combination of Ctrl & Z?

A:line breaks in putty or Microsoft's Hyperterminal client

Beside pressing "ctrl z" directly, try to press <ALT>26

Some of the basic commands work irrespective of ctrl Z or LF+CR.

I have 2 home computers.

THe 1st computer connects to the internet through ISP.

2nd PC connects to my 2nd pc by ethernet cable and connects to the internet through my 1st pc internet connection.

My problem is that my 2nd pc cannot acces www.msn.com or www.hotmaill.com it can access other sites. It does not have any firewalls on, not windows firewall. I have flushed DNS on that computer but nothing.
I have downloaded AVG anti virus, spybot destroy, adaware for any virus etc but comes up with nothing.

My 1st pc can access the msn website and hotmail or any microsoft website. I also tried connecting a another PC to my 1st pc and that computer couldn't access hotmail.com or msn.com. I have tried turning firewall off on 1st PC + windows firewall too.

I have also done scans on all 3 computers.

Any ideas why this is happening.

Guys I'm hung on this one: I get a lot of these errors, no halts or reboots or blue/black screens.
This install is fairly new - within the last 6 months, so its not an 'old' installation of 7 or of MSE.

The many threads I've dug up on the topic including here on this forum [old] approach it from the standpoint of someone wanting to ditch MSE and try whatever. I am fine with MSE - its as bad as any of the other abandoned "AV" thingies - and it seems healthy enough.
So, how do I remedy the error, if the error is worth concern? some suggested deleting this file or that file or tweaking registry to NOT check - all of which were dismissed, it seemed, by smarter folk - it was only going to squelch the reporting, not remedy the error.

any suggestions?

I want to completely uninstall Microsoft Application Virtualization Client to gain more disk space on my C: drive. I have already moved my MSO Cache to a different partition. My O/S is Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. To my knowledge I have never used this App-V software. All of the information I have found so far is too technical for me to understand (such as the information found on this web page: (https://blogs.technet.com/b/appv/arc...edirected=true) I am not a newbie and I can follow specific directions IF they are specifically not using terms that I do not understand. One step there says to reboot the client .. yea, right. I don't know how to do that. Another web page says to use the Control Panel for uninstallation. There is no listing of Microsoft Application Virtualization Client or Application Virtualization Client to be found in the Programs and Features portion of my Control Panel. My Revo Uninstaller Pro likewise does not list Microsoft Application Virtualization Client or Application Virtualization Client. Thanks much.

Does anyone have a solution for enabling client for Microsoft networks via the command line. It's already installed, but the check box next to it is unchecked.

I've been doing some reading around the net and haven't come up anything viable. Some have said to use netsh to do it, but I can't find the right command if it can be done. Same for the sc command. I could do it via GPO if that's possible, but I don't think it is.

Any help is appreciated.

edit: This would be on Win7SP1 workstations.
